Something that drives me crazy is the way that Eddie has been telling Buck for YEARS that he's stuck with him. Literal years. From the "there's nobody in this world I trust with my son more than you" to the "I hope you know you do matter to me", Eddie has been telling Buck "I'm in this, I love you, you idiot" but Buck, my beautiful traumatized baby, truly believed Eddie, Edmundo Diaz, the man who picked a fight with him in a grocery store because of how much he missed him, the man who knows how long he was dead down to the second, would fucking leave to Texas without saying goodbye. Eddie. Eddie who had Taylor Kelly in his house to show Buck he still had him. Eddie who joined an illegal fighting ring because he missed him. Eddie. Would just leave with only a note. Because they had 1 (one) fight. Buck Buckley, for the love of God man, open your EYES.

it is genuinely kinda crazy how tied into eddie's family buck is. pepa comes to cook them dinner because chris is here and buck is sad. pepa is giving buck pep talks. pepa is giving buck affectionate nicknames. abuela went to buck's sister's wedding, and no one questioned it. in the offscreen version of 911 that occurs in my head, eddie is the sole single cousin coming to diaz family get togethers, and buck is always his plus one. everyone has come to expect it. eddie and chris are coming? yeah, makes sense buck is there too. even eddie's parents don't say anything about buck being there when they come to pick up chris. because this is their normal. buck, eddie, and chris are a package deal. and every diaz knows it.

shamelessly stolen from @/prophecybuck on twitter but i'm SO glad people are talking about this because this misconception pisses me off soooo much. sure, eddie might forget to mark the odd essay or due date on his calendar, but if you don't think that man doesn't have a minimum of four post-it notes for each school event, has alarms set on his phone for each dose of Chris's medication, that he doesn't over backwards to make sure that Chris is always happy comfortable and safe, then you're out of your mind. if you don't think that that 200 pounds of combat training and social anxiety would not sit his ass down in those little creaky plastic chairs with a notepad and pen at every single one of Chris's PTA meetings, then idk what to tell you.

what exactly makes you think, Eddie, that "that's my world," Diaz would not and is not intimately involved in every aspect of Chris's life? like Bobby said, Eddie doesn't have a problem committing to things he cares about, and Chris will always be Eddie's number one priority. if you don't think Eddie throws himself into everything related to Chris with 100%, then you simply do not understand the fundamental tenants of Eddie diaz.

Importantly, they are not together at this point, but Chimney assumes the secret that he's been let in on is that they secretly have been for a long while now and this is an actual serious plan Eddie has. Eddie forgets ever saying any of this, Chimney does not. This causes many problems.
