He didn't say anything else for a very long and confusing moment, until it slowly dawned on Meryl that perhaps she had just said something strange. Something she never said. Or, After a disastrous accidental confession (of sorts), Meryl tries to move on. Vash gets in the way.

Too cheesy even for him to actually tell her as much, though.
