Guardian Angel
Below my feet is solid water reflecting the fluffy clouds and blue skies above me. In front of me is my childhood home. The one I shared with my mother for those few short years. I walk up the steps to the front door. I walk in and it’s empty. There’s not even a speck of dust on the floor. As usual, I am alone. It’s so quiet, almost peaceful, but the silence is disrupted by something banging on the front door. I see them peeking through the windows. Demons craving the taste of my flesh. They slam themselves against the glass, moaning and groaning. I run to my room and hide in the closet. I find a weapon on the shelf and hold it in my shaky hands. I hear them in the hallway. Tears stream down my face. I brace myself to attack. The closet door opens and there stands a man. He wears all black with a pair of sunglasses. He tells me he is there to save me. I put down my weapon and stand with him. I walk out of the closet and I noticed a sliding glass door has appeared. Outside is a raft. I hop on and he starts rowing. Drifting away from the building I once called home, I watch the golden clouds slowly glide across the now pink skies. I say goodbye.

The Maiden's Heaven
I wake up on a mountain. It’s so bright but my eyes don’t need adjusting. This isn’t where I fell asleep but somehow I’m not worried. I look around and all I see is the pure white snow. I close my eyes and feel the cool wind all around me. It whispers in my ear and plays with my hair. I open my eyes and decide to take my first step forward.
I’m on the edge but I am not afraid. I know that if I fall, you will be there to catch me. I know I am always taken care of. I take one more step before I see someone. You must’ve sent them for me.
They lead me forward. I wonder where they will take me since I see nothing ahead of us. Eventually we reach the peak and the snow turns into steps. They shimmer with a gold hue, like sunlight is trying to burst through. I pause for a moment and look up. I still see nothing but somehow I hear the ocean. I can feel a pull as if the wind has become waves, lulling me into open water.
Immediately, I give in to the pull and walk up the first step, leaving my guide behind me. Each one is less like a step. It feels as though I am flying through the blue waters of the sky. The sea foam clouds tickle my skin. When I look closely I can see all the droplets making it whole.
I make it through the cloud and land on top. I look forward and the sun is beaming in front of me. Although he has seen my face a million times, I have never seen his.
My knees hit the ground. This feeling is overwhelming. I begin sobbing as a million arms wrap around me. They whisper congratulations. I have never felt so much love, so much joy. It engulfs my soul. They continue their whispers; I am finally home.
