"One day she was wandering along the edges of the forest when she encountered a snake. Though she was afraid, the snake was courteous and polite. “Good morning,” he said to her, so she greeted him the same. After all, she was a kind girl and loathed to offend even the lowliest of God’s creatures. He bowed his head to her in respect and slithered on his way. The next day, this happened again. She met the snake and was afraid, but he only greeted her and moved along."

i drew these to make my manuscript pretty and to entice my mom into reading <3 it was nice to practice drawing backgrounds/landscapes/buildings, but i must say its very challenging and i obviously have a long way to go... that being said, i had fun! and im pretty proud of the time and effort i put into these <3

yknow ever since people realized tumblr isnt dead and have decided to flock here from twitter and tiktok ive seen a huge influx of people in fandom spaces who dont reblog anything. at all.
like, i used to have an art blog with 340 followers. not a ton but not a small amount either given how this website works with creators. and in my experience back then even the ones who only left likes still reblogged other things or at least posted their own stuff. literally the only empty blogs were clearly bots.
but on this New art blog, i've had so many people with fandom-specific headers and icons with actual usernames as urls and some kind of title or description, but have. Nothing. no posts. all they do is like things. and it's always public, too. their following list and their likes list.
and honestly all it makes me think is that these people are New and also don't know how tumblr works. how likes don't give exposure. not even in a "oh, i know it doesn't give exposure, but i'm still going to reblog anyways" way, but in a genuine honest to god straight up doesn't realize tumblr likes don't work like twitter's.
PLEASE please if you're from tiktok or twitter or whatever please reblog people's art both fandom and original if you like it!! and maybe actually pad out your blog's content in some way so people won't potentially see you as a bot and block you.
REBLOG ARTIST'S WORK. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY GET ANY ATTENTION ON THIS WEBSITE OH MY GOD. PLEASE. I BEG of you

idk if this has been said before, but i rlly feel like the ‘like to reblog’ ratio on this site has definitely been skewed by instagram….i mean, tumblr def didn’t used to be like this & ever since instagram became one of the main social media sites, i feel like ppl somehow internally fused one with the other & there’s a misconception that liking a post on here is a great way to show support for it but that’s actually not entirely true :/ it’s a nice gesture but the algorithm on insta & tumblr are so vastly different, in reality liking a post on instagram is a great way to support it & to help said post maybe wind up on the explore page, but liking a post on tumblr doesn’t really do anything if we’re being honest…the only way to rlly support a post & it’s creator on here is to reblog it, bc only then will it actually have the opportunity to be seen by others!! & no it’s not about “being obsessed with notes”, it’s about acknowledging & appreciating the fact that ppl take time out of their day to make things for the simple enjoyment of sharing it with others on here! as overly repeated as this is, tumblr rlly wouldn’t be anything without it’s content creators, & it’s totally normal to grow frustrated when you feel like you’re basically sending your posts into a blue void to pretty much die a slow inconspicuous death lmao so in conclusion, support content creators!! use that reblog button! it’s the least we can all do :) ♡

I don’t think it’s as bad as it used to be but I still sometimes see people say that art should be done for art’s sake and artists shouldn’t have a need for their viewers to engage with the art or “spread the word”
Thing is, at least in my case, the art is already in my head. It’s very vivid and quite frankly probably better than I could ever draw or write it. There’s only one single reason for me to put it into the world and that is to share it with other people. If I just made it and put it in a dark hole it’s no different than just keeping it in my head.
Sure, I might only have made it as practice but even then I’m not going to learn half as much if I don’t get feedback. And contrary to what some people might believe, even if you only get positive feedback you still learn because you see what people respond to.
If people don’t want anyone to interact with their art they simply don’t post it. If it’s out there it’s because they hope someone will like it, and if you like it it’s important to let them know if you want to see more of it. Even if you’re sitting down in that dark hole admiring the art, eventually the art will stop coming because the creator think there’s nobody down there.
