Will! family!! headcanons!!!! and also just general misc Will headcanons time yippee

Random hc list time go:

Will is Chinese-Mexican! He knows English, Cantonese, Spanish, and also ASL (which is unrelated). He's big on learning different languages for his medic stuff.

"Solace" is Naomi's stage name that she legally changed to. It's Will's legal surname, but it isn't Naomi's original surname. She jokes it's her married name.

Will grew up with his grandma taking care of him whenever Naomi was on tour. They're very close and love each other very much <3 Grandma Tsang is very proud of her daughter and grandson.

She's also fully aware that Will is a demigod (and is very grateful that he decided to be a medic instead of go on quests all the time). She thinks his healing and sun powers are neat and very practical. The sound powers... sure were something when Will was a baby. (Will does not tell her about the plague powers) (she knows and is mostly just wondering why he hasn't cured one billion diseases yet.)

Will takes after his grandma - they're a similar height and body type. Naomi takes more after her dad (Will's abuelo).

When he says he's from Austin he means he's from around Travis/Caldwell County. After his mom got famous she moved outside the city and got a little ranch. They have a couple of animals but not a ton, since Naomi is out so much, Grandma is getting old, and ever since Will moved to New York they don't have as many hands around the house to help with them.

Will is a big fan of snakes and rodents and had pet rats and a boa growing up, among the other numerous animals. He'd love to get a snake again but other Apollo kids tend to be scared of them.

The animals are how Will initially got interested in being a medic and started honing his powers. He originally wanted to be a veterinarian when he was little. He will still take helping a horse give birth over a nymph giving birth any day.

Naomi and Will have matching sun tattoos to honor Apollo and also each other <3

Naomi is openly queer herself and advocates about it a lot. Will picked up a lot of that from her and runs the GSA at camp and other pride events. Will is also trans and his family is very supportive and helped him socially transition before he went to CHB.

They also both know Will has a boyfriend and keep asking when he's gonna bring the boy home. Obligatory family pestering <3

Hello, I was wondering if I could ask more about the roman demigod with the label [Lifeguard] from your roman cohort post on the blog as well as the demigod on the fourth cohort page with the Camp Jupiter Confidential demigods on it, first in the second row with the brown shoulder length hair, green eyes and glasses? I love your art and your art style, its so beautiful. :) Sorry, if the ask to long.

These two are from my project to flesh out Camp Jupiter for my askblog, @deadangelos!

The lifeguard one is in 3rd cohort, and is referenced in Camp Jupiter Classified and I fleshed him out a bit - mainly giving him a design, name, and divine ancestor (Venilia - a nymph/goddess of winds and sea, which felt fitting for a lifeguard). His name comes from an Italian form of "Alexander," and is the name of the painter of The Birth Of Venus (There's actually a mountain on Venus named for Venilia, so that's one of the tie-ins there), and the name Morgan means "sea circle" essentially, so again lots of water themes for him for the lifeguard stuff. Cause giving demigod ocs referential names is fun.

Jenifer is a double-legacy in 4th cohort. Palatua is a goddess guardian of Palatine Hill, and Vacuna was a goddess prayed to in favor of absent or missing friends and family. She joined the legion basically right at the end or right after the Titan War. He looks all depressed cause I thought it'd be interesting if, because of the exact combo of his double-legacy, he feels a lot of responsibility for the safety and well-being of Camp Jupiter and the Romans who live there, and they just got out of the Titan War and are still reeling from that and the losses/destruction from that- and because he was either new during the end of the war or joined just after, he couldn't really do much to help. She's just got a lot on her mind.

Design-wise they're both mostly born out of me fiddling, as are most of the bg romans designs I make. I just kind of keep working at them until I like them and then flesh out a character around that - Jenifer was more that, and Sandro was more me trying to work out a design that I was more or less satisfied with that fit for the character briefly referenced in CJC and figuring out what he might be like in more than one sentence. Sometimes I'll have a particular design or concept I wanna mess with and I'll work around that, but usually it's just me messing around until I get something I like.

I have a lot of fun designing background riordanverse characters and fleshing them out like this, so always feel free to ask about them! I tend to talk a bit more about those concepts over on my main pjo sideblog @aroaceleovaldez, but I'll happily chat about the design aspects here as well!

You might be referring to my old one, but this is my updated one! Forgive the hastily doodled on clothes - this is also my body type/scar/tattoo/etc/general ref sheet, and while I've posted it without the colors before, it feels weird posting it with colors cause for some reason then it looks like theyre all naked, lol. Ref sheets are funny that way. So doodled on clothes it is.

figured i'd share my WIP - yknow how I keep talking about "finding the limit of how many PJO ocs one person can have" and coming up with names/divine ancestors/etc? haha. yeah. behold my romans.

This is my project to create & make references for every Roman in the legion, including filling in blanks in the cohorts. For askblog purposes, because I like consistency. And I think it's fun and makes it more interesting. Yes there is a CHB counterpart to this that is done.

I still need to make more refs - all of the labeled chars here are canon. The rest I made up. This is 5th cohort (purposefully smaller than the other cohorts) through half of 3rd (both are about 30 each since the max per cohort is 40). I also have some misc romans not included here and still need to make references for the rest of the legion & messengers/healers which I have decided is a separate category.

These all will eventually be going on my wiki for my askblog, including the other cohorts once I finish those. Yes you may ask about any of these chars, they do all have names/divine ancestors/lore/etc. I'm having fun I promise.

A day of ghouls and specters, there isn't a better time to be a chthonic demigod - aka a demigod of the Underworld! So let's check in on some of our favorite chthonic kids and see how they spent their holiday:

Nico di Angelo

"I'm not exactly the most popular kid in Camp Half-Blood most days, but Halloween is different. We didn't really celebrate it back in my day in Italy, but I almost feel obligated now. I mean, I'm king of ghosts, I think that means I win Halloween, right? Anyways, I turned Cabin 13 into a haunted house for the other campers this evening. I've even got skeletons roaming around, and Jules-Albert is giving out candy. Usually people would be screaming about that, but the other campers love it. It's nice to be seen as cool for a change."

Hazel Levesque

"Camp Jupiter is busy during the holidays! Everybody's going trick-or-treating around New Rome. In the legion the cohorts are giving out candy to each other and holding a competition to see who can get the biggest haul. Even the lares are getting in on the fun trying to prank campers. Frank and I are on duty in the praetors' offices for any trick-or-treaters who come by. Usually some of the houses in New Rome stay open a little bit later though for the centurions once they get off of door duty, so we'll still have time to go wandering later. Plus, we get all the leftovers anyways, so we'll have plenty of treats regardless!"

Clovis

"Oh, Lou Ellen and I made a deal for tonight - she's going as Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, and she said if she can turn me into a cat for the evening she'll split her candy with me 50/50. And I get to nap the whole time. Not too bad of a deal for me, honestly. If I want I could honestly probably make the rounds again for seconds, since nobody would know I was already there. Total win-win."

Lou Ellen Blackstone

"Clovis probably already told you about my costume, but what he doesn't know is that my cabin is going all out. We're not gonna let Cabin 13 win spookiest haunted house, at least not without a fight! Sure he has skeletons and ghosts, but like, c'mon! That's gotta be cheating, right? Us Hecate kids take Halloween very seriously, of course. Especially trick-or-treat. Let's just say we tend to prefer the trick half a little bit more. We'll see how many campers get turned into animals by the end of the night. Unfortunately, Clovis doesn't count towards that."

Alabaster Torrington

"Well, normally I would be spending Halloween with my family, but seeing as the gods exiled me, I can't. That's alright though - I have a plan. You see, me and Dr. Claymore are gonna go scam campers out of their candy. I may be exiled, but as long as I stay outside the borders of Camp Half-Blood, I'm not breaking the rules, and they never said anything about Mistforms. And I might be able to say hi to my half-siblings while I'm there. Just as long as nobody rats me out to Chiron we're good. I'm sure I can convince them to keep quiet in exchange for king-sized candy bars. Oh, someone's coming - gotta go!"

Revisited my old vld au (i blame @jankwritten) and remade my old character sheets about it. tweaked some things, struggled to remember what the hell all my notes were about from like 5 years ago, etc etc. Much happier with the set-up now honestly.

Stars vs circles indicate designated paladin/main pilot of that lion. Or castle in the castle's case.

the temptation to change my Annabeth design after learning that Athena has the epithet "Athena Alektor" meaning "rooster" because i'm very fascinated by it, upon further research it apparently specifically relates to Athena as a protector and war goddess, AND it creates a very perfect pun about Annabeth's fatal flaw (roosters. hubris. she's too cocky)

also one of the sketches i did musing over this actually turned out super cute and in doodling the design more it's just very fun to draw

Could you do a Percy design? I like seeing fanart of him. I know he’s the main character and all, and maybe overrated cuz of that, but he’s MY fave character. :)

Percy! A boy for his birthday month <3 I was hoping to get a Percy request! I've really gotta make a hc scar map for him at some point cause I always just kind of give him whatever, minus the pit scorpion scar on his hand.

One of the fun things I like to do with Percy is mess with how his eyes might look in different environments! I just think it's a fun and cool trait to give him.

Btw as a reminder if I get multiple requests for the same character I'll do multiple designs for them! Just for funsies and cause I like fiddling with character designs.

Canon descriptions that have always stuck with me most about Thalia: consistently described as tan with "sharp features," that one line comparing her in her big fluffy coat to a raven in TTC, and in TLT her eyes are "storm-green." I refuse to accept her eyes as blue, I do not care what the retcons say.

For her body type I generally figure that she'd be similar to Jason, obviously, except on the slightly leaner side probably since Jason had a better upbringing than her so she never got the opportunity to bulk up as much. Hard to gain muscle as a tree. She did get the height though cause pines are tall, man.

Fun note with the hair dye, I believe I first saw a Thalia design with a blue streak from Indignoite? Pretty sure it was Indigonite, but anyways it's stuck with me even like 7 years later. It's just so perfect for her. I don't usually draw it when I'm doing just b/w lines though cause then she ends up looking too much like Percy with his grey streak but hey, matching Big 3 kids.
