Paradox Togekiss
OKAY! So, I've managed to sneak my way back into the corners (not fully in, but also technically in) of Area Zero because they have a lot of Fossils and hidden pokemon that can only be found there. So, while I was in one of the research stations, I found this weird fossil that was weirdly well preserved. So I obviously sneak my way in deeper (I broke a metal door into the basement) and found this sketch!
Tumblr media
The name says 'Divine Feathers,' and the notes state that it's a fair/dragon type. It looks a lot like togekiss, and I'm theorizing that it's an ancestor of them!
Sadly, the notes don't say anything about what time period they're from. They seem more bird-like than togekiss, which makes sense. The notes also said that they're 5'11, which is an entire foot taller than regular togekiss!
The beak implies that they eat nuts that are hard to crack, but it also seems like a shrunken hawk beak (hawks referring to pokemon like talonflame and staraptor). So maybe the ones before this were predators, and had sharper beaks? Who knows!
The feathers are a lot longer and fluffier and seem to be used for courting purposes. Sadly, the image isn't colored, so I can't comment on their color scheme.
Lol, hope I don't get arrested for this! But seriously, that place is surprisingly easy to get into. You'd think they'd have more guards or something

Hello! Nice to meet another trainer from Galar at this school 👋
oh my gosh hi!!! fellow galarian! is it possible you’re from ballonlea too? ;D
i see you’re doing biology - jeez that’s cool. pokebiology makes my head spin, so big kudos to you. i might need to find you for help when midterms start closing in 😭

@uva-academy-welding Hello! I’m happy to meet someone else from school here :) anyways, what was it like in Galar ‘cause as you might be able to tell I don’t travel much.
nice to meet you too, fellow classmate! maybe we should meet up sometime - im not exactly the best at STEM and all that stuff so it’d be awesome to learn more about it from a top student.
i think i’ve mentioned before that i grew up in one of the less populated towns of galar, ballonlea. which, in my humble opinion, is the best town there! since it’s surrounded by the glimwood tangle on all sides, it’s always pretty dark, which means that the bioluminescent mushrooms and other fungi and flora are always glowing bright at any time of day. if you’re a big sunshine fan, then it miiight not be the town for you, but i’ve always loved how magical it looks (and i also love the funky variety of pokemon in the area). then on the opposite end of the spectrum there are big cities like motostoke and wyndon which are packed with high density living spaces. the first time i went to wyndon was a bit jarring, and while i can appreciate the convenience of it all with the different stores and stuff at every turn it’s definitely something i had to get used to. now that i’m living on campus in mesagoza, i actually love it! and the transition was much easier than expected. paldea is a really nice balance of stunning landscapes along with beautiful towns and cities, kind of like galar, and while i haven’t seen everything here yet i’d definitely like to take the time to do a bit of a trip around.

So i may have forgotten to post this for a day or two and its the last day before my trip so I'm gonna write this up quick.
@professor-mystic entrusted me with a fascinating specimen of what may be an until now undiscovered variant of growlithe and asked me to take a look at her. I wanted to keep quiet about this until i could observe and study her for awhile.
Tumblr media
It took a little while for her to tolerate our presence, but we quickly realized she had barrier aggression, and wasn't a danger to us unless we stick our arms through the bars of her crate. We at the lab have started calling her Frosty, because although nervous at first she's a sweet treat.
Preliminary study results under the cut
For this comparison i opted to use last years AKC champion as our "standard" growlithe, since he had basically just won an award for being the most growlithe a growlithe can be. I've broken down my observations into 7 sections for easier reading. Our growlithe will be referred to as Specimen F.
Tumblr media
A) Facial structure:
Specimen F has a much more pointed snout and smaller teeth than the standard growlithe, along with a reduced bite force. Despite the smaller teeth the canine teeth on both the top and bottom jaw are slightly longer, and curve back just slightly, with more developed molars. This points to Specimen F having a diet consisting of smaller prey, and possibly exhibiting omnivorous traits such as eating nuts or berries to supplement their diet.
Specimen F's Ears are also set higher on their head and have a much better ability to turn and isolate noises.
B) Collar ruff
Standard growlithe use the thick fur on their collar as protection against bites to the neck, weather that be from predators or rivals. Although Specimen F has the color barrier seen in standard specimen, the fur here is the same thickness and length as the rest of the coat. Instead, Specimen F seems to be able to pull ambient moisture from the air and freeze it into delicate dangling icicles. These icicles make a bright ringing sound like bells when they knock together that is quite beautiful, but Specimen F seems to be able to move in such a way that the icicles remain silent if they so desire.
C) Build
Standard Growlithe sports a curved spine and long back legs, making them capable of short bursts of incredible speed despite their size. Alternatively Specimen F's straight back and heavily muscled legs are much more equipped for long treks, possibly miles at a time without rest. Their paws are also incredibly thick and insulated, ostensibly to protect them when standing on ice and snow for months at a time. Specimen F's shorter, straighter spine also causes their tail to be set much higher on their body, curling over their back, with ice crystals forming in the hairs at the tip of the tail.
D) Coat
Specimen F has one of the most fascinating coats i have ever seen in a pokemon. Visual differences are simple, While the standard growlithe has markings that are standard in thickness and jagged on the edges, Specimen F has markings that vary in with and length and taper to a smooth point. Specimen F is double coated, the undercoat is shorter and incredibly dense, sitting at about an inch and a half out from the skin of the pokemon. The outer coat is where the irregularities lie. Each individual hair in the outer coat is covered in a micrometers thick layer of steel. Specimen F seems to be able to use these hairs to manipulate thermal energy, stealing heat from the air and freezing any ambient moisture (or glasses of water left too close.)
E) Crest
At first glance it seems that Specimen F's head crest is the same as the fur on the neck ruff; that is to say shorter hair made to seem longer by the freezing of ambient moisture into icicles. This is, for the most part true, with one exception. Underneath the ice on the longest of the icicles that stick up in the air is actually a small horn! This went undetected until Specimen F underwent Xrays to get a better look at their teeth. Possible connection to Hisuian growlithe, who's skulls also showed short horns, is still being discussed.

as expected several people have tried to catch her an well. She's Still There so not going great! i started grabbing an extra treat when i go in to give her when i leave since i felt for her an she's been real receptive to that :)

you know what i think i’m going to get an azumarill! i’ve been thinking about whether i should get one from a breeder or find one in the wild, and i’m leaning towards catching one myself. i know it’ll be a bit of extra work but hopefully it pays off! i do have the contact information of an ethical breeder on standby, though, just in case. marcello and the rest of the team are also totally fine with a new addition, fortunately, probably because an azumarill is nothing if not friend shaped

do we know whats inside pokeballs? i imagine its like a tiny little room or something.
there are still studies being done on the consciousness of pokémon (i think that there's this guy in kanto who tried to become a clefairy for the sake of research) and how it interacts with the pokéball but my personal theory is that it's like being asleep. or like a coma i guess

Hello everyone! Mod Zoroark - the one running @darktypehuman - here! I decided to go ahead and make the network account for pokeblogging accounts! This blog is still a heavy wip, as I'm still working on the blank copy of the bio, but I hope to start adding accounts as soon as possible!
I'm restricting it to just pokeblogging accounts (IE, those who mostly just pretend to be their oc on tumblr, and don't like, rp in-person interactions between characters primarily) since I think if I listed every person who uses the pokemon irl tag I would be here forever.
Please spread this post around to let everyone know about this account! @realpokemon Hope it's okay to tag you, you're the most popular account I know of for this!

Hyello! I've been going around asking a bunch of other Uva/Naranja students who their favorite teachers are so. You're next!!
Who's your favorite teacher?
it’s so difficult to pick a favourite, but i think i’ll have to go with ms dendra and mr saguaro! i’ve mentioned before that battle studies is my favourite class and it’s mostly because of the great advice and unrivalled energy that ms dendra brings! i have so much respect for her.
mr saguaro is pretty self explanatory for anyone who goes to the academy, he’s wholesome and friendly and probably the most approachable of all the teachers in my opinion. he also teaches a really fun and useful subject! easy choice
thanks for the question! i’m glad to be apart of your expanding list of academy students, and hopefully i’ll see you around!

ohhh this is genius! both of them are sooo cute and thank you for the information on them, they sound perfect
well now i am presented with another dilemma. i don’t think i am capable of deciding between the two
i’ve been thinking about this for a while and i’m considering maybe taking on another pokemon. i don’t think i’ll train and battle with it, i’m looking for more of a support pokemon to just have around. i think we need a new addition to the group! so if anyone has some recommendations for a small to medium sized, calm, relatively low maintenance pokemon to become the fourth member of the team, that would be greatly appreciated! unfortunately it’ll have to be one that is native to paldea because it’s a bit of a pain to get a non native one imported.

hmm that is true! sprigatito is the first that comes to mind with cat pokemon but unfortunately they’re very expensive and are near impossible to find in the wild.. i’ll be keeping an eye out for something similar, thanks for the suggestion!

I heard that in galar, you give people Applins to showcase romantic interest.
...who would want to date someone who gives them a * dragon type * ?

14 and 17 for the pokéblr asks?
14. can you bring your partner pokémon to places like museums, aquariums, etc? Do you/have you?
there are of course some size limitations set in place at museums and stuff, but marcello (who is a bit bigger than average) isn’t really a fan of them anyway, same with gala. on the contrary, hyacinth LOVES going to museums, so whenever we’re visiting a city that has one we could spend a whole day going through it. there was an instance where we weren’t allowed in because apparently she was ‘too scary,” which is an unfortunate reality for a lot of ceruledge owners. it’s mostly caused by the pokédex spreading misinformation. hyacinth is definitely not burning with ‘lingering resentment!’ but the good news is that most museums haven’t given us any issue. as for aquariums, hyacinth is a fire type, so she’s a bit more hesitant to join me. but i’m fine perfectly content in going by myself! i love aquariums.
17. do you prefer Pokémon Centers to heal up your team, or just a good night’s rest?
can i say neither? nothing feels better than a nice meal after a tiring battle (you’ll find your opponents appreciate the sentiment as well)! if that’s not an option then i’d rather go to a pokemon centre. it’s a lot faster and also gives me the opportunity to pick up or sell some extra supplies at the pokemart stand.
