And with that, I've finished my Danganronpa from memory challenge! Please ignore everyone's feet. Lining them up was hard-

Thanks to everyone for their support, it's really made the whole thing worth it, but I have one question... Which character from each game did I do the worst on? I want to draw four pieces of actual fan art -one character per game- as a form of redemption/apology to whichever characters got screwed over. I think I've narrowed it down to just a few choices, but I'd love some outside opinions! So tell me your thoughts, and I'll hopefully get around to them faster than it took me to finish the last 10. ( You can check my silly and overly long tag for this series of posts down below if you need a better look at anyone. )

Danganronpa from memory - Monaca Towa ... Can you tell where I gave up on drawing her wheelchair? Screw megaphones, you *really* don't want to try drawing a wheelchair from memory without reference for even a basic one.

The only reason I remembered her hair as well as I did is because I studied her design for an OC. The rest of her design... Didn't come out as well, but it's still better than most of her group.

Final rating: It's hard to draw someone sitting without reference. Especially in a dress. Especially in a wheelchair.

Danganronpa from memory - Haiji Towa

... What do I even say about him?

Uhhh.... I drew the cast/sling on the wrong arm. It also makes sense that he can't actually put it through his sleeve... His fur trim is also the wrong color. It looks more like Juzo's jacket. ( No, I'm not drawing Danganronpa 3 from memory. ) Final rating: I don't think anyone cares about the things I got wrong. I don't think anyone wanted me to draw Haiji in general-

Danganronpa from memory - Nagisa Shingetsu

Fun fact: I saved him for last just to keep myself motivated to draw everyone else. He's in my top 5 favorite DR characters.

I drew him once for his birthday the other year, so I know his design a lot better than the other WoH kids, but there's still a lot of mistakes. Nagisa is also one of the few UDG characters I knew the height of for certain, and I knew he was the tallest of the Warriors of Hope, but I underestimated just how much taller he was than Masaru and Jataro.

Final rating: He's not perfect, but I'm glad to have drawn him again.

Danganronpa from memory - Hiroko Hagakure

... Yeah, I don't like this drawing. At least Kotoko was still sorta cute.

I'd blame the fact that she was the first one I drew when I finally got back to the last 10 characters, so I was out of practice, but... Nah, I think I just did her a disservice in general. For once, the shoes are one of the most accurate parts. That's bad.

I couldn't even remember her name while I was drawing her. I kept calling her Hiruko I wonder why until I realized that thankfully my sketch layer had her actual name on it. Rating: I'm not cool enough to draw Hiroko.

Danganronpa from memory - Kotoko Utsugi

You may recall me apologizing to Kotoko before I even drew her, as I didn't remember what she looked like. I'm still apologizing. As for details I sort of remembered, but didn't draw, I knew her logo was on her headband, vaguely remembered that there might've been a bow on her head, some polkadots... Nope. I didn't remember most of her design. I even tried drawing stars in her eyes, but they're not even close to that shape. Platy, the character with star eyes you're thinking of is Desuhiko-

Final rating: She can go sit with Celeste in the "something you'd find in a pile of bootlegs" category. I think she's also made of a brittle plastic, so all her accessories broke off.

Danganronpa from memory - Taichi Fujisaki I love Chihiro. I love Chihiro's dad. I actually drew him way earlier in the challenge because I got a CD in the mail by his/Chihiro's seiyuu, and thought it'd be perfect to listen to while drawing. It was indeed. ... Platy, that has nothing to do with rating your drawing- Anyway, I mostly just forgot the pocket on his shirt, and made the stripes too wide and brown. I made him too short, which you'd think I'd remember with how much I like him... Most of the heights for this group are going to be wrong. Final rating: Pretty decent. I need to stop being so hard on myself.

Danganronpa from memory - Jataro Kemuri

I've only ever tried to doodle Jataro once, and that was without his mask... So that didn't help me any. I don't think I could've done much better, though. I forgot just how detailed his mask was, and completely forgot about his backpack. At least I stuck his hammer in his apron? I knew he had a logo on it in that spot, and even sort of remembered it being cross-shaped, but I couldn't get it to look right by the time I added it, so I just went without.

Final rating: Jataro's my 2nd favorite Warrior of Hope, but that doesn't mean I remember what he looks like. I'm sorry, dear. At least finally being done with these means I'm free to draw real fanart of characters... But we'll talk about that more later.

Danganronpa from memory - Yuta Asahina I was excited to draw Yuta, and he actually didn't turn out that bad! ... Then again, he's mostly just genderbent Aoi with different colors. You may be asking how I remember Yuta at all, since I haven't seen him in-game since watching an LP the beginning of 2020? The logo. On his jersey. It's so ridiculous that I open his model sheet regularly just to look at it and giggle. That's the only reason. ... Also, I remembered to sketch his wristband, since it's... Very hard to forget story-wise, but it somehow got lost when I went back to do line art... Rating: Dog can go like 3 cups rice dog oh love since 1981

Danganronpa from memory - Masaru Daimon First of all, I'd like to mention that I like how the Warriors of Hope have unique shapes in their eyes instead of the standard circle highlight most characters have. ... That being said, I didn't remember what most of them were. I don't think I did that well on Masaru? I couldn't remember where the symbol on his outfit was, not that I'd have remembered what it looked like either, but... I put numbers on the front instead. He has numbers on his shirt... On the back... And they're the number 10 in solid red, not yellow with black outlines... I almost put 07. I didn't even remember his undershirt was red with black stripes until the next morning after merging the color and line art layers?? Rating: It looks like Masaru if you don't know what Masaru looks like aside from having red hair, sporty clothes, and headphones.

Danganronpa from memory - Genocider Syo ... Or Genocide Jack. Jill? Whoever she is. I actually drew her back at the same time as Toko (on March 3rd) so I've been waiting a while to finally post the comparison. Most of the same mistakes with Toko also apply here, but also... I forgot her hair was down in UDG until most of the way through drawing her braids, and didn't want to erase all that work, so... Also as I said, I couldn't remember if she or Aoi was 160 alongside Makoto, should've figured she was taller than Komaru, but even if I'd gotten that right, I didn't realize she was even *taller* in UDG. Probably due to the change in shoes. ... And right after saying I had to erase the background for *these sprites, I went ahead and combined the half-body sprite with the scan, because there was NO way I'd have managed to erase around all of her hair. Especially since the text on the page was covering part of it, hence there still being a chunk missing where her bio section was. Final thoughts: She might only target cute guys, but her hair sure almost killed me... Twice. *Found clean rips of most of the full-body sprites. Didn't see one for Syo, though.

Danganronpa from memory - Komaru Naegi! Hey, look! A character I've actually drawn before. I don't think she would've come out as well without that experience, but even then, she's not perfect, and I don't even wanna know what the hacking gun actually looks like or how badly I drew it. Don't draw megaphones from memory, kids. They're confusing enough *with* reference... At least she's one of the few characters in this set I got the height correct on, and only because her being 3cm taller than Makoto is seared into my brain. ( Technically he's 161cm in UDG, but... ) Final rating: Close enough? Aside from her shoe color... PS: I'd have started posting these sooner if I didn't have to erase the background for the sprites. They're almost more work than actually drawing the characters... And I'm still working on them.

It's time for one more set of bears, this time in a pair! I completely forgot Kurokuma's tie or what was on his chain, and wish I'd gone with the part of my gut saying to make all his teeth gold. Shirokuma, on the other hand, is missing a few bandages, and... For some reason I decided the flower goes on his head. Like a Pikmin. It was included above his head a height chart, which is probably what I was remembering... And yet again, I ended up making the mascots 10cm too tall. I was going to make them 100cm, but decided to make them taller at the last minute?? Final rating: Didn't come out as well as Usami or the Monokubs, but at least I got some of the basic ideas right..?
