Has an air of being fancy even though he's really goofy

Large chin

Quick tempered

Usually very pale skinned, or teal for some reason

Generally treated as a non-threat, just an obstacle

Isn't taken seriously by anyone but their lackeys

Considered ugly in canon

Colors are usually either purple or black (or other dark shades)

Their plans almost never work how they want

If you know a character who hits 8 or more of these points, they might just be a DW!

I definitely feel that being a “gifted” kid also placed a lot of expectations on what you imagined to be the norm.

Doing well on assignments and getting good grades is what you’re supposed to do. Succeeding in life is what you’re supposed to do. When you don’t, when you can’t, you’re squandering your talents, your gifts. Every victory feels like the bare minimum if that. You are never enough because there was supposed to be something more.

ohhhhh I get it now. the "gifted kid" discourse exists because people see it fundamentally as a sign of Privilege and not as a largely meaningless category that puffs up weird children before setting them up for the same unremarkable lives as everyone else; thus they interpret people going "the educational system gave me false expectations before ultimately abandoning me to the same heartless world as everyone else" as "why am I, The Main Character, not getting everything I ever wanted."
