Happy FRIDIY! I wanted to make these mini brands fridge magnets for a while (zuru did this like months ago and every other crafter under the sun). I cheated for my weekly FRIDIY. I’m sorry! Miss Mindy added her artful touch to the world of DC and Batman could not look anymore cheeky and adorable! I definitely regret not buying him! I fell in love with Miss Mindy’s art and vinyl figures at toy fair a couple of years ago. I got to meet her at the @enesco booth and she even signed an exclusive doll for my mom. It was just so cool! Today is the @thetoyinsider #holidayofplayathome so I had to switch it up from spooky to jolly mode. 🎄 For a fun, festive DIY, I made a dry snow globe. It’s perfect for kids—no water, squishy tactile play, and it’s almost mess free (there’s sparkles!). Don’t use the fake snow like I did, it blankets your miniatures, but I think it came out well either way! To mold up some festive decor, I used @horizongroupusa new Mixy Squish! It’s super squishy, textured clay! It has bits of sparkles and holographic pieces to give each color some texture and pizazz. It’s also premixed, so there’s no mess. You get five textures and 12 colors, along with an instruction booklet with cool ideas to make your own squishy clay figurines. Thank you @horizongroupusa for sending me Mixy Squish! Today is National Train Your Brain Day—it’s usually a day to remind everyone to push themselves just a little bit harder—like by solving puzzle or playing a game. Why not train our brains a bit to change the way we see our world? I’m learning first hand that one small change to a child’s brain could change the way they think, change their point of view, how they compute problems, and even the way they see you. 📖 We got this wonderful storybook Guion the Lion by Rebecca Wilson Mascovits. It’s a story about a lion named Guion who takes his friend Rae the bush baby on an amazing adventure through thought and imagination. Guion shows Rae that sometimes if you just squint yours a little and tilt your head, your ordinary view can become extraordinary. There is a quote at the end of the book by Dr. Wayne Dyer, “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” This quote gives me hope. This book made me open my eyes more. If we all trained our brains to be more positive, to be more open minded, then maybe the world would be more...colorful. Just like Guion. 📚 I highly recommend Guion the Lion! Mascovits wrote Guion the Lion and brought her son, Guion’s own story to life through this magical adventure. Guion has Down syndrome and sees the world in a different way. She shows that even though his point of view is different than others, it doesn’t mean we all can’t enjoy the magic of his world.
