One intresting thing about Hiruko is that she is the strongest character in the Demo...but she is also mostly capped out with her Skills. I've seen People on Discord speculate that she very much is at her Peak Performance during the Demo compaired to the Rest, but the pre-locked nature might hint that Gameplay wise (and potencially story wise) she might face a Decline. Usally, Leader type characters in these Games are often the ones that get Murked early, but this isn't going to go the same way as Danganronpa. I am extreamly intresting in what the Story has in store for her. But overall I am okay with most of the Cast and will see where they go.
The Hundred Line: Character Tier List
//After playing the demo//
Reasons below from D-S [WARNING: Major spoilers for the Hundred Line's demo]:
D-Tier:
Shoma - I feel like I might be buying into the game's bullshit by saying that Shoma is the worst character in the game for me, but he's by far the most frustrating to deal with. His whole gimmick is that he has self esteem so low that it's practically not even there anymore. But he's not the first character I've seen from Kodaka and Uchikoshi that has this problem. The actual problem is that basically EVERY SINGLE LINE of dialogue he has in the demo is always about himself and how worthless he is. Even when no one says or does anything, Shoma just always has to chime in by putting himself down. And he does it so wearily often whenever you talk to him that part of me thinks that he doesn't actually mean what he says. He's just saying it out loud, even though no one else says anything about it, because he wants everyone to feel sorry for him. Kind of like Mikan in DR2, except way more overt. And it really makes be struggle to believe he's actually being genuine, because I generally despise people like that. People who talk themselves down so that others will show sympathy for them. Of course, there's a chance that that isn't the case, but so long as Shouma's automatic response to someone responding to the most basic question he asks is "Sorry, I'm the worst person ever, I should disappear into another plane of existence so you don't have to look upon my terrible, hideous face and hear my obnoxious voice..." I'm going to wish he does exactly that. He's just SO annoying.
C-Tier:
Kurara - Kurara, Moko, Kyoshika, Nozomi, and Yugamu are not in the Hundred Line's demo, so for this list, I'm ranking them based solely on what was shown in the promotional material, as well as their general personality and designs. I think Kurara is pretty entertaining so far, especially with some of the crude remarks she makes in the promotional material, as well as how her whole reason for wearing a Jack-o-Lantern on her face is because she's so rich and high status that peons don't deserve to see her face, but we don't really have much to work with yet. I do very much look forward to seeing what she looks like under the mask though. Chances are she actually does it because she's very sensitive about her face and appearance, but I imagine it will be a lot prettier than she gives herself credit for.
The Tsukumo Twins - I'm gonna talk about Ima and Kako as a package deal, because that's kind of their whole gimmick. And I imagine people are surprised that despite all my complaints about Ima as a character, that he's not my least favourite from the demo. I have fun doing the voice of Ima on the streams, and I won't lie that the majority of his ideals are somewhat interesting, but it doesn't stop him from being a mishmash of edgy tropes rather than a cohesive, compelling individual. He's got Kokichi's mischievous aesthetic with Kiyo's unsettling sibling obsession, results in a personality that feels derivative rather than fresh. Although, to be frank, Kako isn't much better. Based on the twin's respective dialogue, it's clear that throughout their relationship, Kako has been very heavly sheltered by her brother. It's why she gets so excited at the prospect of Sirei's advanced tech, and the idea of having an orgy with her classmates (which, as you might have realized if you watched me on stream, made me shit myself laughing when I first heard her say it, as well as how everyone just brushed it off) but one thing that I can't help but notice is that Kako doesn't have much of a personality outside of that. In the demo, Kako doesn't make a SINGLE decision for herself; everything she does, and everything she contributes to the game is standing behind Ima and letting him handle things. Ima claims to love his sister dearly, and that he would gladly serve her, but in every major situation in the main story, Ima is the one in complete control of their shared opinions. Kako doesn't contribute in any meaningful way, and it makes me think something more is going on here. Which has left me in anticipation to see more of these fucked up little kids.
Karua - I can't say much here, because we only see Karua in the opening cutscenes of the game, and in some flashback sequences, and she exists in the plot largely because she's Takumi's driving motivation behind why he chooses to fight. She's a cute character, but we don't see an awful lot of her, so I can't really rank her too high. However, this could very easily change depending on what Nozomi brings to the table, and whatever connection those two have.
Gaku - Gaku is the character who I think I'm going to need to see more of before I definitively decide whether I like him or not. His whole gimmick as a character is that he is unabashedly self-centered, and while the game attempts to portray him as a lovable jerk with a heart of gold, his overwhelming self-centeredness, pettiness, and frequent misfortune make him more frustrating than endearing. It reminds me quite a bit of how Toko Fukawa was in the first DR game, and for those uninitiated, I did NOT like Toko AT ALL in DR1. If Ultra Despair Girls hadn't happened, she would have easily been one of the worst characters in the main killing game series for me. Still, again, I'm willing to be lenient because we have 100 days of this stuff, and a lot can change in that time.
Nigou - Like, we literally know nothing about Nigou at this point, so I can't give an opinion on her yet. But from what I can guess, chances are she's going to be the one to monitor us now that Sirei is gone, and...I'm not sure I like that. Nigou's design is so unappealing compared to Sirei's, and I don't know if her personality will be any better either, so if there's one thing about the future of this game that I'm NOT looking forward to, it's the fact that we get stuck with her instead of Sirei, who was vastly more entertaining. I do wonder if maybe there is a way to bring Sirei back, or if the choices made will affect the outcome of all this, but we will have to see.
Yugamu - If I had a nickel for every time Daisuke Namikawa voiced a character who got aroused by the idea of killing people, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's kind of funny that it happened twice. But anyway, Yugamu is probably the most unnapealling of the characters that we've yet to see at this point. I am hoping that there's going to be more to his character, but I'm not seeing the appeal of him just yet.
B-Tier:
Takemaru - My biggest problem with Takemaru so far is the fact that he is so unapologetically similar to Mondo Owada and other yankee characters from Kodaka and Uchikoshi's other games that it's really had to find any depth to him, despite how much screentime he gets compared to the other characters. Both are examples of a bruiser with a soft center, having a hair-trigger temper while still keeping a code to not hit vulnerable people. As an added bonus, Takemaru's "weapon" of choice is a silver motorbike. Largely, his appeal for me lies in the fact that he's one of the more useful members to use in a battle because of how much of a tank he is, but what sets him back for me is how he works extremely well as a side character, but the demo kind of puts him in the limelight, and he doesn't really belong here.
Tsubasa - To be honest, Tsubasa is up here similarly because what carries her is her design and the fact that she's probably the only genuinely nice person among the group in the demo (Eito is nice, but for reasons that I will get into when I cover him, I don't wholly trust him). I think if I have one big complaint with Hundred Line as a game, my issue is that it's really not trying hard enough to differentiate itself from Danganronpa. Besides the fact that the main gameplay gimmick is turn-based tactics and not mystery solving, it's essentially the exact same. Tsubasa mixes Kazuichi Soda's talent with Angie Yonaga's color palette of white hair contrasting her dark skin, along with inheriting the recurring element of being a big-chested tanned girl from both Aoi Asahina and Akane Owari. Tsubasa for me is basically the exact centerpoint of this list where she's just the general 5/10 character, and hopefully, that will change with time.
Nozomi - Nozomi is by far the character that interests me the most of the one's we haven't see yet. I have my own theories about who she is and what's actually going on with the school. Again, as I said, we're following very similar tropes from Danganronpa for this game, and Nozomi is very clearly the Kyoko equivelant of being the character who has secret ties to what's actually going on, because she's just so different from everyone else. Firstly, everyone's battle outfits are black, but hers is white, and unlike the others who's battle outfits take the appearance of school uniforms, Nozomi's is a full set of armor. Second, from what I can tell, she's the only character who doesn't hurt the enemy, and instead heals her allies. Third, and most importantly, she looks almost exactly like Karua, to the point that Takumi mistakes her for Karua, raising questions about their connection. Her Healing Shiv—a rifle that shoots healing projectiles—reinforces her uniqueness, blending the paradoxical concepts of weaponry and restoration. Last of all, most of the characters have a default HP of 12, but from the promotional material, Nozomi only has 8. All of these factors that set her apart from the others makes her very interesting to me, and I genuinely can't wait to see what she brings to the table when she finally shows up.
Moko - Moko seems to be the fan favourite among the unreleased characters so far, and it's not hard to see why, because conceptually, she's fucking hilarious. Just this extremely gonkish high school pro-wrestler with a silly hamster-like face, who just casually threatens you with a smile. Again, she doesn't interest me as much as Nozomi, but she's definitely up there for one of my more anticipated characters to see in the full release.
A-Tier:
Takumi - Takumi is just your regular everyman protagonist for these types of games, but he's different enough that it makes me like him a lot. Comparing him to the protagonists of other Kodaka and TooKyo games (with the exception of Yo Kuronaka from Tribe Nine) Takumi is a lot more willing to throw himself into the pit of flames if it means protecting what he loves, and he's not shy about giving his opinions on the matter, even when he's trying to temper the unease between the others. Not the most appealing protagonist ever, but defintely very solid and fun to play as. I think largelt what I like about him is that unlike the protagonists of Danganronpa, Zero Escape, and Rain Code, Takumi doesn't seem too far removed from the other characters, and really feels like part of the group. Like them, he's got his own values, and things he needs to protect. He has his own opinions and feelings, and he doesn't feel like the one random dude in a nest of lions, unlike the examples just listed. Overall, looking forward to seeing how he develops and changes depending on the players choices.
Eito - I have a really hard time trusting Eito despite how nice he comes across in the demo. And it's weird to say that because the guy hasn't done anything wrong. The opposite in fact. He's friendly to the point where it's corny, and he's the first of the abstainers to stand up and fight alongside the others, and I respect him for that. Especially the way he ran in at the end of the demo to save everyone from the Invader's leader. HOWEVER, while he presents himself as a pacifist, the fact that his weapon is a scythe (scythes were originally used for farming, which could be a sign of his more passive nature, but they are also the traditional weapons of Grim Reapers and soul catchers) and the fact that he is constantly calling Sirei out, not believing a single word he says, and even going out of the school on his own to get back home, suggest he harbors deeper, perhaps more rebellious intentions. The BIG factor though, is his chronic illness and delicate and sickly nature, as well as his overall character design and brief talks about how he holds tightly onto hope...Yeah, this guy is just Komaeda. He literally just is Nagito if Nagito was a slightly more normal person. Hell, he even looks like Nagito's beta design! (Also, in the English Dub of the game, he's voiced by Nezar Alderazi, but the first time I heard his voice, I thought it was Bryce Papenbrook when I first heard it) On top of that there's a...certain...CG where he kind of looks a little more menacing than he comes across in the demo and promo material, which makes me think he may be keeping secrets or withholding information that could shift the group's entire understanding of their predicament. While his doubts about Sirei might be justified, his willingness to break away without securing support raises questions from me about whether he truly has the group’s best interests at heart, or if he’s got some other mysterious agenda. And I am here for it.
Sirei - If it hadn't been for the fact that Sirei dies halfway through the demo, and there's genuinely signs that we might not see him for the rest of the game from here on out, he would genuinely be in S. He's a pretty entertaining mascot, and despite the similar dialogue, he's different enough from Monokuma that makes him appealing in his own right. Where Monokuma was actively trying to divide the students and make them kill each other, Sirei is trying his damndest to make them fight together, so much so that when his blackmail and motives don't work initially, he puts them to the side and is willing to approach the situation from a way that makes the students more comfortable. Also, he's got an absolutely bopping theme song. Please, for the love of god, let Sirei come back soon. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to enjoy this game as much if he's not in it.
Kyoshika - Kyoshika is easily the character I am most excited to see on the full release, because holy shit this girl is so fucking cute so far. I know that there's very little we know about her at this point, but the idea of having this Ishikawa Goemon type girl in this game is already entertaining, and the instances that we actually see of her in the game so far are just so enthralling to me. I think the two best examples are the one where she gets all flustered when Kurara suggests that she does illicit things with her sword, and the leaked cutscene where she tries to committ sepuku after Kurara gets brainwashed, and Tsubasa frantically tries to stop her. Plus, her design is very appealing to me, and I know it sounds like a double standard for me to put her this high when she suffers from the same "we don't know anything about her" issue that the other 5 unseen characters have at the moment, but the difference is this one has a lot more going for her, for me personally.
Darumi - Darumi is fucking hilarious. There's like, nothing much else to say here. As a character, Darumi is basically a representation of the entire Danganronpa fandom playing this game, and seeing the similarities and differences between the formats, and never hesitating to share her disappointments and nitpicks with it. And personally, I think that is a GENIUS move. Everyone's free to have their own thoughts and feelings on how she is, and I didn't really understand the appeal before I played the game, but once I did, I understood the hype completely. She is near ENDLESS entertainment. She constantly poke fun at the tropes of deadly games and isekai stories, making her both a playful audience surrogate and a chaotic wildcard. Her psychopathic womanchild persona and role as the primary comic relief of the game make it so that even in tense moments, she keeps the mood lively with her morbid enthusiasm and over-the-top reactions. It's largely thanks to Darumi's contributions to the dialogue that the narrative stays fresh by refusing to take things at face value. She's not the first character in these types of games that thrives on the absurdity of everything, but even among the entertainining side of things, it's also insanely interesting to have a character who would much rather be in a death game and meet a gruesome end if it means escaping the mundane and unappealing like she had before. There are layers to that, and I can't wait to explore them, but even without them, Darumi is easily the most entertaining character in the cast...except for one...
S-Tier:
Hiruko: My favourite character in the game so far is, without a shadow of a doubt, Hiruko. Mainly because she is not only one of the most interesting characters in the social part of the story, but also easily the most OP and useful teammate that's available in the demo (she died twice during the final battle in my livestream playthrough of the game, but we don't need to talk about that). She embodies the perfect storm of cold competence, ruthless pragmatism, and unexpected quirks, and it all makes her both fascinating and unpredictable. One of the most interesting parts of Hiruko as a character is that, to play into the current internet climate, she's "played these games before." In the final battle, Hiruko reveals that she's actually been fighting the invaders for a long while before anybody else in the academy, and it's shown because by the time you have the chance to upgrade your weapon attacks and moves, Hiruko's primary attack is already maxed out. As a result, she dominates early battles with sheer strength, and that reinforces her no-nonsense warhawk mentality that everyone should be fighting, no exceptions. She's also a very layered character. On the one hand, Hiruko is among the less popular members of the group, because she's overbearing, egotistical, and considers herself above everybody else, and that her opinion is objectively correct. But she THRIVES in that role, and bigger dilemma is that basically every point Hiruko makes, regardless of the setting, is kind of right, and it forces the others to respect her, even as they resent her lack of warmth. Yet moments like her reaction to Sirei reveal cracks in her icy exterior, making her surprisingly endearing. But of course, the break in stoic ice queen character really shines in her barbaric Blood Knight tendencies, delighting in the destruction of Invaders and reveling in their exposed innards, contrasting hilariously with her refinement, as she calmly discusses art and meditation in her Free Time events. I think personally, one of my favourite scenes of the demo is how when the invaders attack the school a second time, when the others, particulatly Tsubasa, refuse to fight even when the school is at risk the most, Hiruko warns them that even if they survive the battle, she is going to make them regret not fighting. And I LOVE the insintuation. I obviously don't like the fact that she might be plotting something nasty, but holy shit, this character is just SO FUCKING FUN! Easily my top pick for this game so far, and I CANNOT WAIT to see more of her!

That is a good point, maybe something else factors into it. My guess at least is that Karua isn't (or maybe isn't supposed to be) able to wield the Power with how dismissive sersei is towards her. However their is the chance that something wa done to her a Kid, so we will see.
Theory based on the story trailer
I looked at the story trailer again and during the glitching five words appeared.
Rejection symptoms, cryptoglobin, world death.
The last one was probably kind of obvious but the first 2...it seems that Hemoanima is truly going to be a problem...wait...Shouma was shown to be in the hospital, is the reason why they were chosen specifically instead of the "army jocks and science nerds" because their blood is compatible with Hemoanima? Rejection symptoms and cryptoglobin...Crypto means secret or hidden in latin, so a secret colorless protein, and rejection symptoms are self evident...Hemoanime, hemo is blood in latin and anima can mean life, breath, soul, intelligence and the unconscious, hmmmm...
I'm overthinking this? Maybe, but i want the release day to arrive sooo badly and have little else to do...

The talk Ima and Kako have about nobody knowing each other, makes me think that each Shelter actully exists to produce at least one Candidate for Hemoamia, but the twins, being twins, both have the right condition so they both got picked.

Nah, i like both of them too. They are disfunctinal AF but are very entertaining. Also, the dynamic has a lot of potencial to grow.
And they are actully perseptive too, so I can see them be a big part in unraveling what is going on.
God I'm going to end up dying on the hill of Ima being one of my favorite characters aren't I? I like him! I really do! I like how nonchalant he is and he also seems pretty clever! Both twins do even! Kako even mentions wanting to solve mysteries and Ima's already pointing out that besides the twins no one here knows each other despite supposedly living in the same complex for their entire lives. I like them! I really do! No one else is going to care about the interesting parts of their characters except me I can feel it!

Actully, that one got explained. He got the knife shoved in and then Blacked out. So he probably just berserked all Invaders around him.
i dont actually like Eito Aotsuki. calm collected contrarianism is cool in some contexts, but he's crashing down the concept of the combat call. besides, his side of the group includes the siscon and the so far unimportant sis, the turtle, the resolute coward, and the engineer with a weak stomach.

Calling it now, the original Prediction will still be correct. Bro on the bottom will openly be crazy, but also somehow help out the entire Team to Win.

With less than 100 days remaining I officially withdraw this prediction because THIS guy exists.

Hiruko being a competent leader type makes me think she is the Prime candidate to probably die in most timelines to raise the stakes and destory the Group dynamic.
Darumi's twist is that underneath her insane antics she will somehow be the Voice of reason and a ride-or-die helper to the MC, calling it now.
Ima/Kako will hopefully be more then siscon Angel/Devil memes. Ima hopefully isn't unbearable and Kako needs to be protected.
I currently have no feeelings towards Karua. She is the one with massive Plot importance, so I am sure we will see plenty of her.
Kurara is just great. Arrogant Rich Girl ready to wack a fool with a Shovel. Is their anything to not like?
Eito looks like the friendliest and stable person in the cast. Which obviously means he is completly batshit insane. I do like him too, I can already tell I will enjoy him when he is on screen.
Gaku....exists. So far not really having a proper intrest in him.
Kyoshika, the obvious Meme Samurai. I do hope she is more then just a Joke character. Having said that, their better be a timeline where we fight the final Boss and she suddenly charges it in a over the top Animation scene, while the Main theme is playing, before sacraficing her life to kill the final Boss. If she is a walking Shonen Jump quote machine, at least give her that.
I will Update this list with the additional characters.
Update:
Takemaru certainly sticks out. A Old,or at least oldlooking, character in between the usall DR Highschool cast. I will keep my eyes on him, but so far I am not getting much.
Tsubasa! A actual real sane and normal Person (fr this time). While the chance of a Twist regarding her does exist, I really hope it doesn't because with a nutty cast like that, a actual Rock of the Group should exist and she would forfill it perfectly. Her design is A+ in general and her "Weapon" being a Car with Guns strapped on is just Chefskiss. I hope she stays save (She will die so often, oh god, oh no, oh why) On the other hand of normally spectrum, Yugamu. I already love this Chaos goblin. He will almost certainly be a huge agent of chaos AND be the one that somehow works out a way to save everyone at the same time, I am so in. The two unnamed ones.....I guess they have unique designs. Yeah, I got nothing, big wait and see case.
And, last but not least, Takumi. Usally the Kodaka MC try to be more pro-group then selfcentered. With this Guy and his timeline/timetravel motivation to bring his GF back/save her, I can see him jumping of the Slipperly slop a bunch of times. In these 100 Endings their are probably a few or at least one where he goes full "I have to forfill my promise, walking over the Corpses of those that belived in me" End and that exites me as to where this Plot goes with it. Their will most likly be a End with happiness for most, but the path will be litered with horrible bad-ends, betrays and madness.
I've seen a couple of people do stuff like this, so I'm gonna take a stab at it. My thoughts on every character so far! (Long post, so the opinions are all under the cut)
Darumi
She feels like an audience insert of sorts, with her immediate mention of death games and her outfit looking like something a stereotypical "2020 danganronpa cosplayer" would wear.
She's a bit unhinged from what we've so far, but she also seems like she'll be a lot of fun to watch on screen, and isn't that what's most important?
Definite and overwhelming red herring for something, however. Unsure for what yet, but she screams red herring to me.
Also, the fanart of her has been spectacular. Keep it up, lads.
Eito
I'm sure we've all seen *the scene*, so there's that. If that's not out of context somehow and consensual, then- yay? Good for the yaoi fans.
I immediately liked him when I first saw his design, he just *looks* nice. I'd let him hold my drink at a party. I've read somewhere that he becomes Takumi's closest friend, and I dearly hope that that's true, because that means we get lots of Eito content.
I'm also unbelievably excited for that one ending where he inevitably goes off the deep end and does something absolutely horrific. There has to be one. Manifesting it. I love watching my favourite characters commit atrocities.
Gaku
Can I just say how different he specifically looks in his two different outfits? I didn't even recognise him when his sprite of him in the uniform was revealed. His casual outfit is so silly, and his uniform looks the most like he's about to beat my ass. The gattling gun also helps, probably.
That aside, I don't feel that strongly about him. He's probably a nice enough guy, nothing else to say about him.
Hiruko
She's actually drop dead gorgeous. One of the best casual outfits.
Moving on, I think she's the one who's the leader of the squadron? She seems to have experience with facing the enemies, and she's still alive, so I admire the heck out of her for it. She also has an axe that is bigger than her; you can have all the gattling guns or scythes or floating knives in the world, but nothing bests a good old-fashioned ginormous axe.
Ima
Goofy face, what's he looking at me like that for?
This guy has a bit of a reputation, I know, but I'm choosing to have faith.
A sister complex is not inherently sexual or romantic (although it often is) and I find complicated and toxic family relationships in media quite interesting.
I am, however, almost entirely leaning on Uchikoshi here. Clover and Snake's sibling relationship was extremely well written, and I'm hoping that even if he does feel romantically inclined towards his sister, it's just as well written. I'm choosing hope.
Also, his weapon is phenomenal. I might need to make a weapons tierlist at some point.
Kako
She's a cutiepie, and I haven't missed the fact that she and her brother have angel/devil symbolism with their weapons.
Apparently, the two of them are a bit younger than many of the other students, so that should be interesting- Takumi I know is 17/18. Apparently, they're still in Junior High, so 14/15? I wonder if there'll be any split because of the age groups?
I want nothing but the best for her and I hope she gets it. And doesn't die too many times.
Karua
Likely the one this story revolves around, and one of the more mysterious characters.
I'm curious about her, but I don't really feel anything that strong about her. I am fairly certain that Takumi will tear apart reality itself for her, so she'll probably be a pretty nice character. And hopefully, NOT a twist villain.
Kurara
Absolutely wild to have a masked character in a game that Uchikoshi is writing, I'm sure that has never happened before.
She's filthy rich and has a tomato for a head, I- really don't know what to say about her. Her weapon is hilarious to me, "rich girl above all rich girls" and has a shovel for a weapon. I respect the grind, at least.
I'm sure in true Zero Escape fashion, we'll unmask her in one timeline and use that information in another.
Kyoshika
I genuinely have nothing to say about her- I learned she existed a couple days ago? Had never noticed her before, honestly.
She has a cool outfit in any case.
I just remembered there's a 10 image max on the app, so I'll continue this in a reblog

I have never done something like that, but I think about it
with the sheer amount of content that's apparently in The Hundred Line according to Kodaka, it seems that quite literally everyone's playthrus will be different the first go-around. he compares it to an Open World Game here.
thinking of starting a Group Tumblr where a few of us liveblog our first playthrus from release? seeing where we differ, maybe? might be an interesting experiment. let me know
