caspar has always read as aromantic to me (he even says, “i’m not really the romance type”) so i wanted to make my submission about him. the script to this comic was actually written back in 2019 when fe3h was my big thing, and i was so happy that this zine gave me the opportunity to finally flesh it out into a fully colored comic! thanks to everyone running this zine for giving me this chance!

here's the thing about claude. he has layers, like perhaps an onion or parfait.

first there is the carefree mask. under that he is running twenty scenarios at all times. under that he is the most stressed guy of ever (important that the scenarios & stress are on different layers). under that is genuine and awe-inspiring optimism forged from a lifetime of being othered and choosing to turn it into ambition and a heartfelt belief in the potential for human goodness. under that is more stress

Something random I've noticed about timeskip Dimitri fan content, wherein they seem to kind of miss the point of the character? Like comedy is comedy, I can't police anyone, but it feels like very few people understand that in-universe Dimitri is supposed to be mentally ill, abrasive, and intimidating at best during the first half of the timeskip. Every other comic woobifies him into some little guy who just needs to be told he's being a meanie. Like, people not wanting to interact with him because they're afraid of the chance he will try to stab them on reflex is a feature, not a bug! It's jarring when characters react to him as if he's the same old Dimitri, when he's been thinking of nothing except Edelgard's decapitated head for the past 5 years.
