Okay we have to talk about the Frankenstein allusions in Arcane because I knew my English degree would eventually come in handy (This is my moment).

So obviously Viktors name us an allusion to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (mad scientist donning the name Viktor, impossible not to make the connection). Originally thought the writers twist on Viktor Frankenstein was that arcane’s Viktor was both monster and creator (and he still defiantly is but that aside).However, season two has given me a new insight and entered a new player into the dynamic: Jayce.

Viktor told Jayce to destroy the hex-core. Instead Jayce used it to save Viktors life. When Viktor emerges, changed, barely recognizable, not human but creature, he’s upset with Jayce for not following his wishes. Not only does Viktor have to rediscover his changed form but he is made of something volatile neither of them understand. Jayce becomes Viktor Frankenstein and Viktor becomes his creation which he is repulsed by.

I originally started listening to Sherlock & Co for the plot and everything but do you guys understand how healing it is to hear a really healthy relationship between a canonically autistic guy and a neurotypical guy where they both just… accommodate eachother. Neither is played for laughs, both work really really hard to understand the other it’s just. Perfect. Yeah man I’ll give you a hug to help you ground yourself, yeah I’ll try and make jokes around you to show you I’m working hard to understand you, “You bring your ear defenders?”. FUCK man, I’m so used to seeing these kind of relationships get written so poorly and I end up feeling so let down, yet here I am grinning in public whilst I listen to these guys oml

butterflies pictured (as far as i can tell, in order): chocolate solider (junonia iphita), postman butterfly (heliconius melpomene), malachite butterfly (siproeta stelenes), blue moon butterfly (hypolimnas bolina), another two malachites, some type of lacewing butterfly (the coloration is throwing me off), another blue moon butterfly, two more malachites, and i think the top butterfly in the last gif is the chocolate solider from the first gif, and the one on their hand looks like another blue moon butterfly. if i got any of these wrong, please let me know!
