Pod-together is a fandom fest where writers and podficcers create together—the writer creating text specifically intended for audio, and the podficcer creating the audio. If that sounds fun to you, sign-ups are open until June 14th!

Writing is due July 27th, and podfic is due August 24th. The minimum length for pod-together projects is 1000 words or 10 minutes of audio.

This is our 15th year running this challenge, and participants usually have a ton of fun and create amazing stuff, with everything from the typical style of fannish stories to submissions with filk, poetry, found footage/audio drama, sound effects, massive multi-voice collaborations, immersive soundscapes, playable games, and multiple languages.

So far, we have 48 writers and 31 podficcers signed up to matched, plus 49 group signups! We'd love to have you join us!

Podtober Encore: Pod Together

As a throwback to last year's Podtober month, today we're focusing on Pod Together, an annual podficcing challenge, founded by Paraka and podklb. Originally started in 2011, it is subtitled A collaboration challenge for writers and podficcers. It has communities on both Livejournal and Dreamwidth, and a collection on Archive of Our Own. Podfics may be self-hosted or hosted at Paraka's archive, Paraka Productions. Meta about the process is encouraged.

The creators cite two reasons for the challenge. First, to challenge the idea that a podfic is a simple format shift from the written word; Second, to have fun and encourage writers and podficcers to create something made specifically to be performed.

I listened to over 15 hours of Podfic and Filk this weekend for this year's @pod-together Jamfest.

I had a great time, discovered many amazing stories, authors and narrators. I got some housework done, went on a really nice walk, did my nails and played some idle games, all in all it was a great weekend and a great start to my vacation.

Pod-Together Weekend Jamfest is a weekend where we listen to works from the Pod-Together 2024 collection, track our total listening time and comments on a handy spreadsheet, and (if you want to) hang out in the Pod-Together Discord to chat with each other while we do it. If you want to join in, come to the Pod-Together Discord or send a message to me (podklb) on Tumblr and I'll send you the link to the spreadsheet so you can add yourself to it.

We've just gotten started, and so far we're already at 7:42:16 listened to and 16 comments left. I'm so excited to see where we'll be by the end of the weekend! Last year was 75 hours of total listening and 185 comments, and I have a good feeling we're going to smash past those numbers this year!

Final stats: With only 18 participants (4 fewer than last year) we listened to a total of 98 hours, 39 minutes, and 47 seconds of Pod-Together 2024 audio (over 20 hours more than last year!) and left 358 comments (nearly TWICE as many as last year)!

Summary: It is said that there can be no true life without death. Likewise, it is known that without one of the Endless, reality will eventually crumble. When the Magus and his Order of Ancient Mysteries prove smarter and stronger than expected, and succeed in summoning and capturing Death, something must be done in order to rescue her. What kind of individuals can be expected to undertake such a mission?

Or: what if Burgess did capture Death, and the remaining Endless gathered a team in order to rescue her?

for this year’s game (part of @pod-together), I was the start of one of the narrative groups (chain 4).

at the start of the summer (and still, now, today) I was hyperfixated on the twisty turns of book 2 of the locked tomb (aka Harrow the Ninth), people being stuck in places and forgotten, and Gideon Nav’s feelings. so, if you aren’t familiar with canon, uhhhh, cn for alllllllll the spoilers 😅

Summary: stuck in a hidden pocket of Harrow's mind, Gideon Nav urges Harrow to unpack her shit embrace her lyctorhood

I can’t wait to see where the rest of my group took this! piecing together the narrative after the fact is one of my fave parts of filk broken telephone!

Julie and Luke are those friends who always “happen” to peel off together when they’re hanging as a group. Luke decides it’s time to make a move.

A couple of months ago someone told me that Matthew Tkachuk once said that if he weren't playing hockey, he'd want to be a PE teacher.

PE teacher Matthew and biology teacher Leon are forced to co-teach a health class at the boy's school where they both work. Leon's not happy about it.
