If I may offer my thoughts.
There was a case study in Galar of a particular Eevee who could not evolve. Instead, it had a unique mutation occur upon interacting with the gigantifying phenomenon of Galar, giving it a unique form in those circumstances. This specific interaction seemed to inhibit Eevee's natural metamorphic properties in all other circumstances.
If you are looking to care for an Eevee who cannot or should not evolve, I recommend reading the research done there.
My Espeon just had a litter of 4, and, while everyone's healthy according to my vet, one of the Veevees came out polydactyl. I was planning on adopting the litter out to family and friends, but are there any special care requirements I should be aware of before rehoming Mr. Thumbs?
I'm half-tempted to just keep him anyway, but I figured I was worth asking a Professional first.
most of the time polydactyly in pokemon isn't a huge deal provided that it's not getting in the way of the pokemon's natural behaviors. some severe cases require surgery to remove excess digits if they cause discomfort or get caught on things, but for the most part it's just a matter of keeping an eye out for any potential problems. if your vet hasn't noticed any potential difficulties, such as malformed nails or bone irregularities, the eevee should be fine!
however, because it is a mutation that affects parts of the body's structure, it's often discouraged to evolve pokemon with polydactyly on the off chance that the mutation develops further as the result of evolution. eevee especially are prone to unexpected mutations. however, given that eevee are also prone to health conditions associated with preventing evolution to stop, whoever ends up keeping this baby will have to work closely with their vet to monitor his health.

Hey...no one likes thinking about. That sorta stuff...if you need anything let us know
Thank you.
I think... I will just sit with Professor Coconut for a bit. And hold Beans. This should help.

... You are correct.
I... think I need to sit with this knowledge for a bit.
I must be misunderstanding something. There is no way I am correctly understanding what they do to Primeapes in Paldea. That would never be allowed.

This cannot possibly be allowed. No one would allow their Pokémon to suffer in this way.

If I were to make an assumption why people consider you specialized in dark types, I’d say it was your disposition. Not in the sense that you HAVE a dark type disposition, but that you yourself are even tempered and unlikely to be nervous around them, so you end up being attentive and assured as you would be with less harmfully perceived Pokemon.
I am flattered to hear this... Providing help to all Pokemon equally is my goal, after all. It is the Ideal of the veterinary profession. If I can help achieve that through my disposition, then I am glad.

Since they go from having 2 arms too four arms, is there an adjustment period for newly evolved Machamp?
Yes, but the adjustment period is generally measured in minutes. Single-digit minutes, at that.
Their brains and bodies are built to cope with this adjustment. Their bodies are prepared for this when they evolve.
If you have seen a newly-evolved Machamp start flexing and throwing punches at the air, that is what it is doing- Adjusting. Becoming more comfortable in its new body.

There is no way as many people here are getting followed home by Zorua as they claim. They are such shy and elusive Pokémon.

I also found mine in a trash can.
I... dragged her home forcibly to try to treat her wounds. No one should ever, ever do this. As well as it turned out for me with Beans, this was a stupid thing to do. If she had been ill, or had rabies, or been more violent, a thousand things could have gone very wrong and had the both of us hurt or killed.
Zorua much prefer to run and hide than follow people.

In Unova. Purple Growlithe with green stripes. I *KNOW* that's not normal shiny coloration, so what in arc's name did I see?
A Growlithe whose Trainer is irresponsible and used those Halloween dyes on it.

Dearest veterinarian after go for a walk in eterna forest when I came across a bidoof with a gold coat of fur I understand that you live in unova which is rather far from sinnoh but I was wondering if you could tell me if everything was ok with little biddy
Yes, yes, you saw a shiny Pokemon but have no idea what that is. I am sure. Just like the last dozen people who sent me the exact same 'issue'.
I am rather sick of this question, if it is not clear.

This is Persephone, or Seffie. She crawled up onto the table we use for examining much heavier Pokemon, and decided this was where she was going to be examined today.
Her owner brought her all the way from Cherrygrove to see me. It was just a routine checkup, but it seems many are nervous around Dark-type Pokemon, and the myth of Houndour and Houndoom's flames 'causing burns that never stop hurting' are still prominently told in some areas of Johto.
She was one of the sweetest Pokemon I have met. Even her owner was surprised by how happy she was with me, as she normally is not willing to roll over and show her belly so quickly, but she very much wanted belly rubs from me.
Her family calls her 'Sniffy Seffie', as she loves to poke her nose into everything to investigate. She is still quite young, and sometimes breathes fire when excited, which is what led to the nervousness around her, but that is simply because of how young she is.
Overall, she was simply a delight to work with. Picture posted with permission from her owner.

I appear to have garnered a reputation as a veterinarian skilled at handling Dark-types... I am no specialist, but apparently one of my clients today is driving out from Cherrygrove just to see me.
I have not been here long enough to acquire such a reputation, have I?

Hi there! I have a service swinub, Fractal, and I’m wanting to make sure I’m not hurting him at all by keeping the everstone on him. I’d be fine with letting him go to piloswine, which I’m assuming is fine to stay as for a long time given how most Johtonian swinub never take the final evolution step, but he wouldn’t be able to keep doing his job as a mamoswine - he’s also never shown any specific desire to evolve. Which of the stages is the safest for him long-term?
@absol-lutely
//full well aware Astra breaks your canon, but I kept the parts that do so out of the ask, so please just treat her like a random sinnoh gym worker if possible
You are not harming him.
If a Pokemon feels a desire to evolve, they will generally make this very clear. They will begin acting out, becoming rambunctious, and generally try to accumulate the requisite experience to evolve.
Some Pokemon can even resist evolution without an Everstone if they do not desire it, but this is not reliable, so keeping an Everstone on is good.
He does not have to evolve if he shows no wish to. If he is intentionally attempting to remove the stone, then that will be a sign he wishes to evolve, or if he starts causing problems for you in your home, or acting distressed for no reason.
It is safe for him to stay the way he is until he wishes otherwise.

I have for the first time seen a NInetales wag all of its tails.
I had always assumed a Ninetales would wag all of its tails in unison. Not... this chaotic mess. It was like listening to a whole theater applaud as the tails kept colliding.

After a recent examination, I was told that my Crustle has some very small gemstones growing inside of her shell Is this a cause for concern? Should I look at ways to remove the stones, or change out her shell? Quite frankly, I had no idea that Crustle's body was even capable of forming gemstones, so you learn something new every day
I... To be honest, I have also never heard of this happening. I have done a quick search through my medical literature, and at least the books I brought to Johto with me have no such cases recorded as well. There should not be enough heat nor pressure in a Crustle's shell to allow such things to happen.
Perhaps they are closer to pearls than other gemstones- Irritants in the shell being covered in a gem-like immune reaction. However, this has never been recorded before to my knowledge. Furthermore, the rock is not a part of the Pokemon, so this does not make sense. It would have to be that the gems were already forming inside the boulder-shell when the Crustle chose that piece, but if this is not your first examination, this would have been discovered sooner...
Is this a new shell? Was it taken from a volcanic area? Could it be debris from Power Gem or a similar move being used on your Crustle? There are many reasons I could see, but none of them account for gems growing in the shell...
Talk to your veterinarian and get a referral to a specialist in such things, and if this is an old shell, you may wish to contact a college or research facility. The possibility of a mutation in a Crustle that allows for the growth of gems has astounding implications.
