I've never gotten along with the idea that NPC pokemon with unobtainable moves or early evolutions are 'illegal'. For one thing it can be used to portray something about that character. Many Rocket Grunts have evolved pokemon at low levels, perhaps because it shows them as pushing their pokemon to get stronger as fast as possible and wanting to look intimidating. Maybe Pidgey doesn't usually evolve at level 9 but Falkner is an attentive expert with the type he's passionate about.

Secondly it's just so bluntly player-centric. Maybe Dragonite doesn't learn Barrier in Gen 1... for you, a kid who doesn't have the breadth of experience Lance does. Maybe Altaria learns Dragon Dance at Lv 40 for you. Why couldn't someone with a different outlook and training method get different results?

Why after every professor has told you the world on pokemon is vast and mysterious would you assume it has one universal ruleset?

I just had a thought. You know what would be a really cool concept for an mlp show?

A show where the ponies are literally just toy ponies and every episodes story revolves around how a different child plays with their ponies. Maybe some will have them go on a big adventure others might have them go camping

Maybe even have kids send letters (or emails or something if you wanna have less aesthetic 🙄) telling about the adventures they put their ponies on at the beginning of each episode. Maybe even have some parents who played with ponies chime in about theirs. Imagine the excitement a kid would feel seeing their letter in an episode imagine them years later showing that episode to their own kids it'd be so sweet!

Maybe even have ponies from mixed generations alongside the new ones! Does anyone else see the vision?

Actually my favorite replacement for both 'kill myself' jokes and jokes about reacting violently to things/people that upset me is "I'm going to end up on the news" like it's versatile, it's vague, it's not going to get me in trouble with any censors or websites that take joke threats seriously, it's family friendly while still getting the point across, what's not to love???
