🏆 How This Will Work

FIRST POLLS DROP ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2023

We'll start by running the first round of matches for each Generation, one after the other. Each Generation round 1 will take a week and this stage of the tournament will take about 9 weeks. Then we'll move on to the next round, voting with the Pokemon who won the first round and so on. We'll keep doing this until we have the best Pokemon from each region, and then we'll pit those remaining Pokemon against each other in Single Opponent tournament matches until we have the absolute best Pokemon (according to Tumblr)!

Images of each Pokemon (including any forms) will be provided alongside each poll in case you're not familiar with what they look like.

In the interest of convenience, the first round of polls for each Generation will consist of 3-5 Pokemon, depending on the number of Pokemon in each Generation.

Each poll will last a week except for the very final round of polls.

Polls will be self-reblogged 12 hours after they were first posted.

Approximately 4-6 polls are expected to be released each day.

There will be 1 day breaks between rounds to allow for time to prepare the posts for the next round.

In the case of near ties on polls with more than two Pokemon, "close call rematches" will be run. These are likely to be run on non-poll days, but may appear in the midst of polls from other Generations depending on coordination needs. This is to make sure races are as fair as possible.

The Pokemon included in each poll have been and will be seeded and balanced (which is to say, randomized with moderation to ensure the best possible experience).

WHAT'S INCLUDED/EXCLUDED

Temporary forms will not be included separately. (Spring Deerling, Fan Rotom, etc. will be considered the same as Summer Deerling, Rotom, etc.)

Regional forms will be included separately and in the Generation they were introduced.

Mega evolution and Gigantimax forms will be considered temporary forms, but their images will not be included.

Shiny forms are not included in this poll. You may vote with shiny forms in mind (alongside any other reasoning you may have,

Each post will be tagged with the competing Pokemon (ex. #alolan diglett) and the generation (ex. #gen 7), so you should be able to find what you need, and spoiler Generation 9 if you need to! Asks will be tagged with #inquiries. Self-reblogged polls will be tagged #12th hour reblog.

AND THAT'S A WRAP!! It was INCREDIBLY close, but the people have spoken, and Kukui has come out on top!!

Now, not to get too too sappy, but I do want to thank everyone who participated! this was a silly idea I followed on a whim and I didn't expect anywhere near this level of engagement. Seeing you all cheer on your faves, agonize over the choices, and trash talk your unfaves has been amazing, and I ADORE the fanart I've seen <3 Really, this has reminded me of how much I love pokemon. I've been a fan ever since I first played FireRed at the ripe old age of 10 and it has never stopped bringing me joy and happy tears and actual tears and every emotion in between(it's even how I met my fiance nearly six years ago!) so this has just rekindled that love.

Part of the reason I wanted to do this was that I can't help but adore how pokemon fans are the best at finding any character, even the small, obscure ones, and loving them so strongly for SO LONG. It's true that there's no pokemon someone doesn't love, but it's also true that there's no pokemon character someone doesn't love. I hope I was able to remind you of why you love your faves, or at the very least offer something fun to keep track of for a week.

Anyway!! Congrats again to Kukui(and to Laventon for second place), but don't bail just yet, I have one more fun thing planned that should be going up shortly! And like I said back at the beginning, there's new pokemon stuff coming out all the time, and our love for our faves never fades, so if anyone wants to do this again next year, you know where to find me :D

Welcome to the first (Unofficial) Pokemon Professor Showdown!!

Hello pokemon fans of tumblr. You've likely seen several other polls of this kind going around ever since the fabled Tumblr Sexyman Poll and it's epic rematch, as did I, at which point I, like many others, thought, "hey, there's nothing stopping me from doing that" and so, here we are.

After a few preliminary polls, we have thirty-two Professor and Professor-adjacent characters ready to duke it out until one reigns supreme, all they need is your vote to help them get there.

Each poll will last for one day, with the winner moving on to the next round. We're also doing both sides at the same time bcs why not.

I would like to issue a slight correction, @insufferablecrab has brought to my attention that while Professor Burnet is in Pokemon Sun/Moon, she actually originally debuted in Pokemon Dream Radar. I cannot edit polls, but I felt it was a good idea to tack the information on here regardless, and going forward I'll be sure to include her original game in her information and the tags.

Also if anyone ever notices any other inaccuracies feel free to point them out! I'm only one person and by no means a pokemon expert, so I appreciate help ensuring I get things as accurate as possible. Thank you all!
