Karen Headcanons

Her parents ran off when she was a toddler, she lives with her grandma

Her grandma is very kind and loving, however in her later years she has developed dementia

Owns a couple really girly preppy clothes from when Jecka tried to bring her into the popular groups, to no avail

Considers herself a hufflepuff

Had a crush on Harry Potter in the movies, one of the main reasons why she gave Jeffery a chance

Her favorite character is hermione, she went as her to a convention once, the only convention she ever went to

Developed her eating disorder in 6th grade, after some of Jecka’s “new friends” kept on calling her chubby everytime she tried to eat lunch at their table

Has had some friendly conversation with Ari, they aren’t exactly friends but they have some shared interests

About 5��3 in high school, grows to about 5’5

Becomes head librarian on the town over from where the high school is, tutors kids on the side

She’s straight, at least in high school, but sort of bi-curious as an adult

Because of her dementia, Karen’s grandma will occasionally ask when “Jessica” is coming to visit, even though Jecka hasn’t visited in years

All of her Halloween costumes were just a Hufflepuff uniform, Jecka used to go with her as a Gryffindor, she still has a Polaroid of them together in their costumes

She’s lactose intolerant, but she mostly ignores it

Not a complete social outcast like Jeffery, she gets along okay with the other girls on occasion, she just doesn’t talk much

She has thought about cutting herself a few times, but doesn’t want to because she knows it would make her grandma cry

Calls her grandma “granny”, Jecka always used to call her gran

Has a small book club group of friends that meet up at the bookstore with her, none of them go to her school though

Loves cats, and dogs, and basically any animal except for bugs

Her grandma has an old, half-blind cat that Karen named crookshanks

She and her grandma aren’t poor, but they don’t have a ton of money to spare either, which makes Karen’s guilt when buying food that much worse

Goes to the local college for an English degree, she helps Ari and a few other old friends/acquaintances with their English assignments there

Used to be an even bigger pushover in middle school, did kids homework for free until Jecka told her to start making people pay her for it, which Jecka of course demanded a cut of for “giving her the idea”

Her eating disorder does fade as an adult, and she gains some healthy weight

Has never been particularly athletic in any way, doesn’t care for sports or exercise much

Doesn’t date at all in her younger years, despite a kid Jecka attempting in vain to set her up with boys in middle school

Does get into a few relationships in college, but they don’t last long because she’s not really sure what she wants

Karen and Ari become good friends in college, as well as her reconnecting with Jecka a bit, calling each other every week or so to catch up

A big fan of tea, and her grandma taught her how to make it really well

Also knits and crochets with her granny, though she’s not particularly good at those

Amazing at puzzles, just incredible

If she does date someone, would use the pet name “honey” or “sweetie” very sweet and a bit shy in that regard

Can’t cook much, but bakes like a pro

Uses tumblr when it becomes a thing to look at Harry Potter art and fanfictions

Can draw, although her style is a bit rough around the edges

Her two favorite memories are the day her grandma brought her to Disney world, and Jecka’s 8th birthday, where Karen bought them both matching gryffindor and hufflepuff scarves, and they spent all day eating cake and making up elaborate fake spells in Jecka’s backyard

Hazel eyes, though they appear almost grey especially behind her glasses

What pet names wud Jeckole call eachover

Nicole is one of those people who hates mushy pet names, but she eventually begins calling Jecka by shorthand versions of her name, like “J come over here” type of thing. She will also call Jecka “babe” very pointedly in public when around creepy men

Jecka on the other hand, doesn’t hate pet names, she just never really had a relationship that warranted them. She calls Nicole “baby” most of the time, and “my love” when she is asking her to do something. She does also occasionally let “honey” slip out of habit, because that’s what her parents used to call each other when they were happier
