Difference between 덥다 and 뜨겁다

Both mean hot, but 덥다 is mainly associated with weather, whereas 뜨겁다 is usually talking about an object/materials temperature.

eg. 오늘 날씨가 더워 - The weather is warm today

eg. 이 커피가 뜨거워 - This coffee is hot

Equally, for cold; 춥다 is associated with the weather, whereas 차가워 is usually talking about an object or material being cold. 

eg. 오늘 날씨가 추워 - The weather is cold today

eg. 이 음식이 차가워 - This food is cold

Notes:

1. 뜨겁다 can also mean a passionate feeling

2. All these phrases are informal

Hi Mirko! Sorry if this has already been asked before, but could you explain how to talk about texting in Italian? In class my teacher would generally say something along the lines of "send a text" but like most young people i know use "text" itself as a verb. I get for example sending a message via Facebook, but is there just a word to say text in Italian? Thank you!!!

Hi!

By itself, the word “text” translates to “testo”. In your context though, we use the word messaggio to refer to both messages and texts. “To text” or “to message” is messaggiare or mandare un messaggio. Mandare un SMS (=esse emme esse) is also used, but only if we’re actually sending an SMS.

Side note: sending an SMS is not really common nowadays, though occasionally we do send them (for example when we don’t have any Internet connection).

Sometimes people also say whatsappare to specifically mean “to chat via WhatsApp”.

The same thing applies to emails. Because we don’t have a single verb “to email”, we say mandare un messaggio di posta [elettronica] or mandare un’email.

A rare language that dates back to the Viking Age will be taught at a new nursery school in central Sweden.

Ich hab zwei Biographien über Schiller und eine davon ist aus dem Jahr 1954 und da steht drin, dass er mal in eine Bar gegangen ist um seine Freunde zu treffen aber die waren nicht da. Also hat er einen Zettel beim Wirt hinterlassen, den er Schiller's Freunden geben soll falls die irgendwann mal wieder die Bar besuchen. Auf dem Zettel stand "Fahrt zur Hölle!" Hatte einen leichten Hang zum Dramatischen, der Mann.
