Poppy had been stressed lately. Stressed and angry and upset. She was hurt that Josh had lied to her and she hadn’t been sure how to be around him, what to say, or even what to say to her dad about it all. Josh had been drinking and she’d defended him so hugely and it turns out she’d been taken for a fool. It just felt a little bit like Lewis even though it wasn’t the exact same thing.
Despite her best efforts, Poppy found herself rushing into the bathroom on her break at the bank. She was stressed and she couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t get a handle on her emotions, she’d never really been too good at that in the first place. It didn’t help that she’d run into Emily freaking Lane today and ugh that girl was such a poser.
She was sobbing because she knew logically she shouldn’t do this. Poppy had already hurt her body and her system, some of it beyond repair, from all of her years of bulimia... but this was the way she knew how to cope. So she allowed herself to quite easily slide back into this bad, horrible, debilitating habit, feeling like a complete failure.
