Bands You Should Be Listening To In 2019

Hey guys! So, I noticed that you all seemed to like my “Why You Should Be Listening To…” posts. I definitely intend to do more of those individual band recs, but I figured, with the new year approaching, it’d be cool to make a list of some of my favorite artists that I don’t see people talk about often! A couple things to keep in mind for this list:

This is all stuff from in the range of alternative, rock, and punk/pop-punk because that’s all I really listen to tbh

This list is for smallish bands that I personally feel deserve more attention- that’s why my more popular faves (Waterparks, The Front Bottoms, Fall Out Boy, etc.) won’t be on this list.

For each band, I will follow a kind of template, as follows:

[Band Name] Brief description of the band Members: Song Recs: 2-5 Music Video Recs: 1-3

And just to be safe, any likely triggers from either lyrical content or video content will be pointed out as they come.

good morning beautifuls. what’s in your heart today?

i have 2 days of band camp left and i thought i would share what has happened so far:

a girl in colorguard yelled “bitch” because she couldn’t get back to her set in time and eVERYONE heard her

similarly, my friend said “oh shit” when she missed her dot and one of the visual staff heard her and proceeded to make fun of her the next day

before a water balloon fight, the trumpet section gathered in a circle and sang kumbaya while swaying back and forth slowly

i ran around lunch and before parade block screaming “dOES ANYONE WANT TO BE A CHILD OF GOD???” if they said yes, i drew a cross on their arm in black chalk

i hit my one friend in the crotch with a banana peel

another friend was hit in the ear with said banana peel

another banana peel was covered in banana yogurt and thrown at me and the guy sitting next to me

same guy that got hit with yogurt covered banana caressed my thigh with yet aNOTHER banana peel

i was almost inhaled by a tuba

i watched someone get inhaled by a tuba

two members of the low brass chased our band director with a cooler full of ice water while the rest of the band screeched “gET HIM”

we had a “march off” and i was one of two people left.  the other person was from woodwinds (i’m brass) and i was told that if i won, the low brass were gonna do laps around me in their bare feet while screaming

one kid pulled out a huge wad of cash and handed it to a saxophone player…not sure if he got it back

some of the people in my friend group including me are participating in an ass smacking competition and it is exactly what it sound like

tomorrow we have a lip-sync battle and i am very excited to see what comes out of that

also generation cut off lines are obscure and mean nothing!! none of those labels matter except for jokes!! if you dont agree you are a boomer.

instagram posts make me mad cuz those people haven't realized time is literally fake and doesn't matter. no year is better than any other year in every single aspect. the posts try to be so relatable that almost everyone can relate to them so the comments are FILLED with "me!!!!" and anyone not relating is forced to think this is how people are and how they should be too and oop now everyone is a sheep.

yes this rant was set off by one specific post and yes it is 4 am and i cannot sleep and am getting stupid angry over smol things but my ideas may still be relevant idk

Accidentally hit factory reset on my personality traits oop

today i talked to the universe and thanked it for existing and apologized for not appreciating it as much as it deserves to be appreciated. it felt nice just having a conversation with everything around me and feeling really connected to it, even though it felt kinda weird to do and i know it sounds weird.

anyway, i went home right after that and i saw the stray cat that wanders the neighborhood right on my porch. it had been a while since i've seen her and i'm now pretty sure she is more powerful than i could've imagined.
