Is anyone else feeling a bit uncomfortable having the #encephalitis tag filled with Hannibal content on like every site? I'm not judging anyone tagging Hannibal posts with #encephalitis, I just find it a bit frustrating when I'm trying to find other people dealing with the same thing and find Hannibal instead. I'm genuinely curious if anyone else is feeling this way, I haven't heard anything on it

Yes. Some autistic people can pay taxes, write poems, live an independent life, etc.
But some of us cant. Some of us, like me, cant live independently. Cant be without someone. Cant be a member of society without extreme accommodation and help.
I need help in everyday life. I have a caregiver for gods sake. I need help in everyday life and will never be independent. It’s frustrating to constantly get comments about how autistic people can live independently. Cause some of us cant, and that needs to be talked about. I get sores from not showering enough. I get sores from my wheelchair. I have cavities from not brushing my teeth enough.
Life with higher support needs shouldn’t be something that is ignored and not talked about. My caregiver helps me live life as independently as possible. Independence looks different for everyone. Our caregivers are an extension of ourselves. Our caregivers are important and should be recognized. Stop throwing us under the bus for your “salvation”
We are all at risk, and throwing higher support needs people under the bus will not benefit you. You’re ruining years of advocacy by your words and videos.

-deep breath-
A 'no questions asked' food pantry means no questions asked.
When we're stocking our pantry, we are not looking at a person's clothes or their accessories or what kind of car they drove there in. We are HAPPY to see it BEING USED AT ALL.
I don't know anyone's situation. Maybe they got that designer bag at a thrift shop. Maybe its a knockoff. Maybe it was a gift. Maybe they got it when they had money and now they don't have money. Maybe they're getting stuff for a friend.
Maybe they have plenty of money, don't need to be taking stuff from the pantry, but they are anyway because we said-
NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Do you know what happens when someone takes from our pantry when they don't need it? We're down one item. But maybe they tell someone that the pantry is there. Or maybe they come back to it when they need it. Or maybe they throw a dollar in the donation box. Or maybe they put an item on the shelf. Or maybe they come to our food drive.
WE DONT CARE.
We don't care who used it.
We care that it was used.
Im not a cop. Don't make me do cop stuff, I wont do it.

the dichotomy of gardening like
sticking my hands in rich, damp soil: i am connected to each of my ancestors personally and also all beings in the glorious unbroken web of life on earth
vs
dry dirt: if one piece of grit remains under my fingernails for twelve more seconds i will die immediately

Saying AI art is good cause it means disabled people can make art is an insult to disabled people, disabled people who can't hold a pencil can make art in so many different ways including mouth styluses and eye-tracking and theres alternative art forms and youre saying that's not as good or as valid as using a machine to steal other people's work and chop and screw it? Art is so much more than just making pretty drawings and disabled people of all types have been making art since the beginning of humanity.

Part of the reason I'm so adamant about encouraging people to get comfortable with bugs, my own interests aside, is because we cannot have a bright, solarpunk future without them.
A green future is not a bugless future. It is, in fact, a fairly bugful future. If you care about ecological stability, then you need to start with bugs, because they're the most at risk with our current use of pesticides.

A reminder for my little monsters, critters, and creatures...
It's ok to block anyone that makes you uncomfortable, you're allowed to keep your space safe. You don't owe anyone an explanation 🖤

i feel like we as a digital society have forgotten the important rules of the internet
Don't feed the trolls
Never give out personal information
Anonymity is the best defense
Don't click suspicious links
Don't click popups and ads
Just because it's written doesn't mean it's true
You are responsible for your own experience
There is porn of everything, act accordingly
