My dad died two years ago and among his things we found a locked, fireproof suitcase. Its contents rattled about whenever we tried to break or lock-pick it open. What could have been so important? We guessed all sorts of things. Money, passports, sentimental items or photos, the key, etc.

After two years we finally managed to get it open.

It was his weed stash.

I've been so annoyed by all the tiny, tiny, terrible non-biting midges that keep getting up in my face whenever go outside lately, but I just read a note about how their "flying swarms sparkle in the setting sun like dancing apparitions" above the water.

ugh, fine. You win this one, uncountable (7,300+ species) flying swarms of midges. I concede to your inherent beauty in the natural landscape.
