Our friends in Moscow call it ‘dezinformatsiya.’ Our enemies in America call it ‘active measures,’ and I, dear friends, call it ‘my favorite pastime.’

The Bay of Pigs invasion 1961

Fidel castro, a communist came to power in 1959, the US saw any communist government as a threat due to the cold war. In 1961 the bay of pigs invasion occured.
The CIA trained cuban exiles to invade Cuba via the bay of pigs in order to start a rebellion. The intention was for this to be covert- in the sense that the intention was to disguise US involvement under the guise of cuban exiles having carried it out, and the bay of pigs being a remote area.
Due to both poor planning and even poorer execution (a fascinating read - lots and lots went wrong) the Cuban millitary defeated the american invaders, causing one of the biggest blows to JFKs and the CIAs reputation, strengthening Castros position in cuba even further.

Intersubjectivity is a social science, psychology and linguistic term...At its heart born of philosophy. It refers to a broad range of human interaction centered around shared agreement, understanding, perspectives and assumptions.
A whopper of a concept really. I've figured out the easiest way to understand it.
The tendrils of minds spilling over into the world.
Our shared agreement with others over the very words I'm typing up right now, the way your mind slithers out and engages with the world, the way you may attribute feelings or beliefs to me - the writer - based on your prior experiences or perspectives.
The more widely used (but less artistic and philosophical ) definition is to refer to people agreeing about something.
Eg.
"There is intersubjectivity between the christians and catholics on the question of..."
means
"There is agreement between the christians and catholics on the question of..."
"There is intersubjectivity between Amy and Joe's interpretation of the conflict in the middle east"
means
"There is an agreement of perspective between Amy and Joe's interpretation of the conflict in the middle east"

Operation INFEKTION

Operation Infektion was a DISINFORMATION campaign from the 1980s carried out by the soviet KGB.
Its aim was to spread a FALSE narrative wherein the US was purported to have artificially created HIV as part of a research project, to kill african americans and homosexual men.
The irony is that there was a virus fabricated by a government here; not HIV - but one known as "disinformation". Now known as "Fake news". The story spread like wildfire- starting in 1983 where an Indian newspaper called the "Patriot" wrote a story about how the US caused HIV with military experimentation.
The story, helped along by agitators, KGB agents and newspapers hungry for a controversial story gained traction.
What was the ultimate aim of this disinformation campaign?
To undermine trust and credibility of the US and cause tensions between the US and other countries.
