Chapter 2: Periwinkle Introductions
*Warnings: light swearing, fainting.
The voice that interrupted him was bubbly enough. “Yea, yeah I did, It’s kinda awkward to admit, but they’re my idols.” Why he mentioned it, he didn’t know, but he did. Today was only getting worse. How much had his classmate overheard?! He turned to the voice to see a boy practically bouncing on the seats, round glasses almost falling off his face. His hair resembled spun sugar, from its colour, to its density, to even its wispy pieces in the sunlight as the bus bobbed along. Roman hoped that this was a reflection of the boy's personality and not a disguise. The excited and genuine voice he spoke with more than cemented that Romans' first interpretation was true in his mind. “No way! Mine too! When I was little, I’d always run around and pretend I was a Pink Ranger. You’re Roman Crown and Logan Orchid, right?” Both were taken aback, not even expecting to share interests with this stranger, let alone have him know their names. But then again, they attend the same school, and were seemingly close to great rangers, so it’s not that shocking. “I’m Patton! Nice to meet you. And this,” he gestured to the boy next to him, that they hadn’t even registered was there, “is Virgil!” As if on cue, the other boy sat up and took off his headphones, giving them both a small nod and salute. “Sup.” He was head to toe in black and purple. Boy was he gonna die in this weather.
The drive to the museum was nice enough, with the four boys chatting and deciding to stick together for the day. They exchanged hopes. Dreams. Lives. They found unusual connections too. Like Patton liking Sherlock Holmes as much as Logan, ironic considering the former's last name. Or, how Roman shared the same guilty pleasure band as Virgil, strange considering their polar opposite styles. They also lived close to each other, they’d all learned, as well as deeply idolising the power rangers, even if some hid it more than others. Even if Patton and Virgil had heard about the other two’s previous conversation on the bus, they either respected boundaries enough to not ask, or already knew but didn’t want to bring it up until they got closer with one another. Either way, these two were becoming Roman and Logan's new favourite people, with Logan already making room in his schedules for hangout time, and Roman already memorising their hobbies, likes, and dislikes off by heart.
The museum trip overall had been… uneventful for Roman at the very least. History was boring, mostly. He knew this, but he promised Logan to come with him, and goddamn it is he going to keep his promise. Patton and Virgil had gotten distracted on the way, and Logan, being so fixated on the current exhibit they were in, quickly lost the two in the sea of people. Virgil had only just begrudgingly told them about his issues with anxiety. Roman really hoped he was okay and didn’t think they’d just ditched him and Patton. He wasn’t keen on losing the emos' friendship so soon. Despite his annoyance of the day, it soon had flown by. Whilst leaving the museum through their gift shop, he couldn’t help but see some stunning crystal jewellery. And then witness the robbery of the exact beautiful jewellery in question. “Come on Lo! We gotta stop it!” Grabbing Logan's wrist, he triumphantly gave chase, despite the poor geek's defiance.
“I’m sorry Roman, but what the hell are we chasing?!” “The thief!” “What thief?! We’re gonna be late for the bus- Whoa!”
Swerving past a sharp corner, they slammed straight into their seatmates, who were, unfortunately, holding ice cream. Whilst Roman and Virgil had had a minor collision, Logan had practically flung into Patton's arms due to momentum, leaving little protection available for their frozen desserts. Roman and Virgil had remained standing throughout the crash, but Patton and Logan weren’t so lucky, sliding onto the floor together in a messy heap. “Roman, what the hell man,” Virgil was only partially worried about the ice cream, anxiety peeking from the sudden scare but not yet fully processing everything. Patton on the other hand, was a bit more concerned about the wrong issue. “My ice cream!” “Sorry Patt! We’ve got a robber to catch!” Panting, Logan slowly but silently got up and glared at his supposed best friend. Once up, he offered his hand to the other bespeckled boy, who took it whilst still mourning the loss of his sugary meal. Today was quickly brought back to bad for Logan as he snapped at his brash friend. “Roman, who are we chasing, and why did you drag me with you?! I was perfectly content looking at the geodes they had on display at the gift shop.” Roman’s grip slowly loosened on the purple boy once he realised how much he held onto him. Taking the most regal, brave pose he could, he announced, “We’re chasing a robber who stole some crystal jewellery from a small company that provides them to the museum!” “Do we have to, Princey?” Virgil just wanted to go home at that point. “Come on! We’ll be like the power rangers!”
Soon, all four of them were in on Roman's idea, somehow. Logan had no logical explanation why. It didn’t make sense to him, but here they were. And here they were, following his plan due to his knowledge of the museum's layout. He’d constantly played strategist as a kid, to connect with his father when he was home, so much so that he’d become actually good at it. Roman was the individual who had chased down this robber, due to his track experience. The rest spread out and waited at certain points, cutting pathways off and hopefully cornering them at a final, walled-off location if his plan was followed correctly, which left just Roman to confront the thief. Standing next to the dinosaur fossils now his role was over, Logan could only hope Roman wasn’t a complete overconfident dumbass, and actually knew what he was doing. He didn't want to play a hand in his closest friend's death.
“Halt you thief!” Roman had the person and their cartoonishly oversized cloak and hood completely cornered. “I suggest you return those dashing pieces of jewellery before going on your way!” He hadn’t even noticed the ranger pose he assumed yet again, or how the stranger's hand began to glow a red colour after his heroic proclamation, or even the stranger's sudden concern at the new glow from his hand. “You’re out of your depth kid, you don’t know what these things can do.” The voice definitely belonged to a man, and was strained, as if they hadn’t spoken for years. He could only be more intrigued as he approached the stranger, a sense of familiarity washing over him like a river of nostalgia. Roman softened his fake hard exterior. “Hey, just give the stuff back, and I’ll be out of your hair, alright?” His hesitancy of violence was only met with a strike to the ribs, barely blocked by him. He didn’t want a fight, they were late enough as is, and him being hurt would drive Logan insane. “If you don’t give it back willingly. I’ll just take it back!” He warned, clasping the stranger's fist containing the jewellery in his hand. His fingers dug into the man's fist, attempting to pry it open enough for a dive-and-pinch approach he’d just come up with on the spot. As he strained, Roman looked back up at the stranger, now with a clear view of his face. The stranger was definitely a he. It was eerily similar, being lit by green and red light from somewhere. A face similar to his own. A face that littered his home's halls, covered partially by his recognisable grey hair streak and moustache that was never found on his own face. “Remus…?” Everything went black.

Chapter 1: A Day In The Life Of Roman Crown
*Warnings: missing persons, speculated character death.
The Tv buzzed in the background as he ate. He surfed the channels until he found the town's news. He wasn’t normally interested in it, preferring Child-centred shows, though never knowing why. He knew this news broadcast was important to him though, even if it was repetitive. “Missing persons Alyssa Picani, Janus Cane, Remy Lethe, and Remus Crown have still not been found. New evidence has again been discovered, this being a notebook discovered in a bag believed to belong to one Janus Cane. So far nothing has been unearthed other than a written passage reading as follows. ‘If you ask anyone, they’ll say the first…” He tuned out again. He couldn’t even remember much of his brother. Yes he had a moustache, and an affinity for green clothing, but he couldn’t remember how he was. Who he was. All Roman really ever wanted to know was who he was, and who had taken him. He turned back to the screen, trying once again to listen to what was being said. Just in case it had some news, any news, any good news at all.
“...myth seems to be fully fictional ’ It is being speculated that if these prolifically charitable teens disappearances have more to do with the original power rangers than first thought. Dubbed the ‘Mind Force’, these fighters vanished a few days after these once teens were found gone from their homes. The only main thread, a Dr.Sanders, has refused to provide anymore information about the teens. Will these auspicious teenagers ever be found? Angel Grove may never know. But with the resurgence of new evidenc-” . The woman speaking was cut off by Roman switching the TV off. He’d had enough with the constant opening and closing of his brother's case. It was harder to move on with life when it kept being opened up over and over before being sewn shut like a surgery wound. He’s had enough of hearing his name on a missing list, he's had enough about hearing of this “Dr.Sanders,” who's refusing to help his brother's case. He's had enough of hearing his idols be held responsible for his brother and his friends being gone.
The Power Rangers were the one thing that had kept him going when his brother went missing. After the main rangers had vanished, a government operation was started to continue protecting earth. When the Mind Force rangers left, Space Patrol Delta, SPD for short, were his heroes. Even his best friend idolised them. Granted, Logan's dad was the leader of SPD squad B at the time, so it made sense for the space nerd to look up to him. Red was the leader, they’ve always been the leader. For as long as he could remember, the Power Rangers were always his heroes. They always would be, no matter what life threw his way and what history was dug up. Except for that Orange ranger, whoever they were. They had fought against the rangers until they were accepted into the group and their suit colour changed! Change wasn’t as simple as just a small thread of forgiveness. Change is a journey he knew all too well, and only Logan and the power rangers kept him sane throughout it all.
The school trip to the museum was today, and Logan would kill him if he was late. He never saw the point in museums. All they do is display old stuff, and he’s already had enough of the past! His bowl now empty, he slid it into the sink to clean up later. Whilst making his way through the kitchen however, the current date on the calendar stuck out like a sore thumb with a splinter. “Ooh, it just had to be today, didn’t it? Talk about hitting two birds with one ranger themed stone.” Cringing at the way his words came out, he accepted he was now on a mission. He could clean properly later, when he didn’t have a brainiac of a best friend to bother and distract with dumb questions. Grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder, he ran to the school building. He wasn’t late by any means. He just enjoyed the thrill of sprinting there. He wasn’t admired in the sports department for nothing. (Even if he always hid how his lungs burnt after. No way was he showing weakness!)
A checklist was in the navy boy's hand. He’d dressed up for the occasion, for some reason unknown to many. “Hey Lo! Why so formal?” Logan knew that it was Romans voice calling him, even if there was no need to yell that loud for his attention. “We’re going to the museum, I want to make a good impression. Besides,” he brushed off his collared, button-up, constellation covered shirt, “there’s an event I’m attending after school hours, and I don’t think I’ll have time to change.” Getting back to his clipboard, he checked off a supposed item. “What’s the list for, specs?” Roman peered over the smaller one's shoulder, answering his own question without Logan's permission. “A day plan? How scripted can you be? I wouldn’t be surprised if you were a piece of python code in a human robot body.”
“Hey! Don’t be like that because I’m organised and you think early is five minutes before the bell! How do you know what Python is anyway?”
“Irreverent!”
“Irreverent is what you are somedays alright. The word you’re looking for is ‘Irrelevant’.”
“Yes yes, whatever you say Windows!” Roman pulled Logan into a side hug, firmly locking his hand onto his friend's waist. “Roman, what are you doing?!” Logan spoke in hushed tones, despite his angered demeanour. It was clear he wanted an answer. Fast. Before Roman could answer however, the bell went, and the two went their separate ways, if only temporarily.
Flocking into the bus, Roman was yanked onto a seat whilst walking through the isle. Despite his looks, the nerd was quite strong. Roman could only stare in surprise that Logan had gotten on before him, normally being the first one out of the two to get on. “What, didn’t expect it?” A smirk crept across Logan’s face as he relished the shocked look on his friend's face, never normally seeing it these days. “Calm down prince charming, I just thought I’d make this part of the day easier for you. Besides, I wanted to talk with you.” That's never good. If Logan Orchid says he wants to talk, expect trouble with keeping up. “Roman, are you alright? I know your mental health sometimes takes a hit when a certain case is reopened, and I’ve seen on the news recently that they opened it again. You’re my friend, I just want to know how you feel and how you’re doing.” He gave a small sigh of relief, happy it wasn’t yet another maths question, but was apprehensive at the real question asked. Should he be honest? Logan wouldn’t judge him, right?
“If I’m honest, no, I’m really not doing the best. I’m fed up. My brother isn’t coming back, I understand that. But it’s so hard to move on when it keeps being brought up over and over all because a random doctor won’t answer questions. But enough about me, google glasses, I wanna make sure you’re doing alright too.” Logan shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He wasn’t too keen on the sudden shift of topic. “I assure you Roman, I’m okay.”
“With today's date? I doubt it. I just wish you’d trust me with this knowledge about you sometimes. You’re allowed to feel upset just like I can feel mad and-” The bus was put into motion, causing many to jut forward and a high pitched scream to be let out.
“Ew! Sorry, I was listening, I just put my hand in gum. That was disgusting.” A brief silence struck them, mainly consisting of Roman holding in laughter at Logan’s shriek, before Logan fully regained composure and continued. “I’m still trying to understand my emotions sometimes, Ro, but I’ll let you know when I figure them out. As far as I know, I’m fine. Now, back to you. This date is an annual thing, but them opening your brother's case, well, isn’t.” Roman now took the turn to fidget before returning to the signature Crown bravado. “Yes, my brother's case being open is annoying,” irritation now smoothly slipped into his normally jovial voice, “especially now they’re blaming the Power Rangers! I mean who could blame-”
A new voice cut him off.
“Did you say Power Rangers?!”

And the main plot has begun! Hopefully I've pulled in your interest enough to keep you coming back. I'll have character designs up soon, and the header will hopefully shift to show who's actively in the story as I continue. Thanks for reading, and may the origin story commence! - Sparrow

Prologue: The Past: A team to behold
*No warnings apply here I think! Just kicking off the au with some actual content. Enjoy!
“If you ask anyone, they’ll say the first Power Ranger, and the leader of the Power Rangers was the Red Ranger. That's wrong. When it comes to that debate, Angel Grove tells a different story. Named after its founder, Angel Grove is known to be the location of the only set of Power Rangers proven to exist, and they call themselves the Mind Force. Led by the Green ranger, this team of heroes protected the world from those who wished it harm. There is no Red Ranger. In fact, there are only the Green, Yellow, Pink, and Grey rangers, recently  joined by the Orange ranger. These rangers have proven themselves courageous and are worthy of protecting our world from threats. Who are these masked vigilantes? The world may never know. But what we do know, is that for all the bravado surrounding them, this Red Ranger myth seems to be fully fictional ” He sucked in a breath. “ So, what do you all think? Think it’ll be good enough for the paper for once? The amount of lies in those things are disgusting, and I wanna spread some truth for a change.”
Janus, Remus, and Remy were all sat, gathered at the town's best location to unwind, the juice bar. The three had only been friends at the beginning of the school year, but a lot had changed since then. Now they were sitting, nearing the end of their school year, and had been through so much, and had so much yet to come. Things had started when they all went to a small cove, with that fateful day those crystals fell into their hands. Now they led lives they could never have dreamed of, fighting a great enemy in colour coordinated spandex suits, led by an alien in a test tube and a strange skittish android, all whilst being physically enhanced to battle for as long as possible. Hell, they could even go to space if they really wanted! All this, whilst still having the safety of home to fall back on. These three alone had become so close these past months, doing everything they could together. Their custom made communicators made it so they could chat any and everywhere, as well as be alerted to any danger afoot. Said communicators were crafted out of old watches, and luckily, watches could go with any outfit they wore. Everything was perfectly concealed.
“It’s good babes, but is this really the best time to speak about the rangers?” Remy tilted his sunglasses forward. “I mean, we don’t want any news on us, imagine having to deal with paparazzi without our stunning faces on show!” The other two on the table could only roll their eyes with their exasperated sighs as he proceeded to feign a faint. “Chill coffee addict, I’m just clearing up some damn conspiracy nonsense, besides, what's better for kicking off a journalism career than covering the one topic the other reporters won't seriously touch due to there being no interview chances?” Janus put his notebook down in a small huff of frustration, no longer being taken seriously due to Remy's joke. “What do you think ‘mus, do you agree with insomniac-Drew over there or do you have your own two cents?” The last teen twirled the moustache he’d grown before sitting up. “What do I think?! I think we should hunt down the squirt who started that rumour! I mean, what's so wrong with green being the leader? Why does red have to be the focus? There isn't even a Red ranger!”
Remuses ranting quickly came to a close as someone approached the table. Emile practically collapsed into the chair she pulled out, exhausted much more than normal due to her normal routine, as well as the added battle from earlier that day. “What's gotten you three all riled up then?” The boys shifted their seats to accommodate the extra table member as Janus spun their notebook over to her. “Here Em, take a read and tell me what ya’ think. I’m thinking of finally giving journalism a shot, and I’m thinking that starting with the extra ranger rumour will be a great start.” Just as if his train of thought was finally back on track after being derailed, Remus resumed his rant, unaware of the sudden jarred expressions of everyone around him. “Who even does that?! The Power Rangers are great the way they are now! Who even came up with a Red Ranger?!”
“Your brother Remus. Your brother started the Red Ranger rumour." They all turned to Emile, Remy clearly holding in a laugh. "He told me all about it when I was babysitting him whilst you had that tournament away from town. We were sat watching cartoons as always, and he turned to me and asked ‘who's your favourite ranger? Mines the red one,’ and I said, ‘Roman, there is no Red ranger. Do you mean the Pink one?’ And he yelled, ‘No! The red one who leads the rangers!’ And by this point I stared at him and asked if he meant the Green Ranger, who we all know is the actual leader, and a great one at that, but he yelled again saying, ‘No! The Red one! The Green one’s only the second leader! The true leader is the Red Ranger at their base!’ And then he leaned super close to me and whispered ‘I’m the Red Ranger, I made him up, and I told everyone at school and they told all their friends and their parents, and now everyone knows of the Red Ranger!’ And then he struck a little pose and ran off. So I was walking with all of you the next day, and I was gonna tell you about it all but by then everyone already knew about Romans Ranger OC”
The table was struck silent by Emiles tirade, and stayed that way for a few seconds before Remy burst out laughing and verbal chaos ensued.
“Oh my god-”
“I am going to kill my brother-”
“Remus don’t you dare-”
“Fight, fight, fight!-”
“Hey, what's up everybody? What did I miss?”
The group had been so immersed in the story and their subsequent reactions, that no one even noticed the new face at the table, belonging to the newest member of the group. It was now Emile’s turn to sigh, due to dealing with antics like this on a daily basis. “Hey Tommy, you didn’t miss much, don’t worry about it-”
“My little pest of a brother started the damn Red Ranger rumour! I’m going to hit him in the head with a morning star if I get the chance!”
“Calm down babes, he's in elementary, you don't wanna be locked up for murder so lean back and settle for pranks like the rest of us.”
Tommy shunted his weight onto his hands to catch the others' attention at the table's sudden imbalance “I’m sure you’ll figure it out in time Remus, I mean, you can do a lot of stuff, you even helped me. Dealing with a rumour your brother started can’t be too bad, right? If anything, you could make a small rumour back that he loves his best friend to teach him a lesson.” The group shared an embarrassed expression upon realising just how much had actually been overheard by Tommy. They were meant to help him adjust, not the other way around. Once realising the group's flustered faces though, Tommy decided to carry on with what he initially came over to chat about, an impossibly high voice crack invading the beginning of his sentence.  “That being said, I do have a question about all this, being still new and all.” Janus leaned forward himself.
“Go ahead Thomas, what’s on your mind?”
“You can just call me Tommy, Jan, but I’ve been wondering, why hasn’t anyone figured your identities out yet? I mean, you only dress in your colours. Remus is always in a green tank top and letterman jacket, Em is always in her pink cardigan or leotard from doing gymnastics, Remys always in biking jacket with a grey shirt and black glasses and shades, and Jay is always in that yellow shirt with a yellow bookbag!” Whilst pointing out the obvious, he gestured to everyone when saying their names, before finally gesturing to himself. “Hell, even I’m beginning to dress in only orange and I haven’t even been with you guys that long! I just, I don’t get how we can hide our identities whilst dressing like what people expect the casual versions of them to look like. Isn’t the whole point of not telling anyone other than each other to, you know, not let anyone know? I mean I figured it out after being here for a week, it's plain obvious to anyone looking in.”
“Thomas-Tommy, the only reason you found out, is because you became a ranger in that first week, remember it or not. It's the basic technology that protects the morphers, Zordon, the base and our identities. I understand you’re concerned, but trust me on this one, there's nothing I haven’t thought of. We are going and protecting a world that can harm you from not following some arbitrary rules, and I’ve done everything I can to protect us from the fallout of things like working outside of the government on the scale we do.” A pause of an eternity passed as a concerned expression only formed more prominently now on Januses face. “You’ve never brought this up before, is there something on your mind?” The last ranger finally took a seat at the table. It was clear that he was made of pure exhaustion at that point, not being used to the work of a ranger. He slumped over in his chair as soon as he sat down in it, ploughing his head into his hands. “ It's just,... I’m,... What I’m sayin’…”
Emile held his hand in a gesture of support. “Take your time Tommy, no one is rushing you or judging you, we’ll try and help, okay?”
“Thanks Em,” he looked up at the faces of his only friends, “What if people find out? My life, it’s gonna fall to shambles, I don’t know what I’m gonna do.” His voice shook. He was new to this, he didn't know how to handle the stress, the pressure. The only people he trusted with this secret gathered around him to help calm him. “It’s not the normal fallout I’m worried about, I’ll have you guys to help me through it and I’ll help you. It’s just... I fought against you at one point. I-I know that I’m not Lime, and Lime isn’t me, but Lime is me at the same time. It was still my body, and my face, whether I knew that or not. I... I still hurt you guys, and I still threatened people, and I have no idea if people will believe what actually happened! It's just… a lot to actually take in… and I… I-I… Agh, I just don’t know right now.”
No one knew how to answer him. Yes, they would all be in the same base problem if people found out, but he had a point. Whether they wanted to admit it or not, Tommy was the Lime ranger after not even being there a week, and he kicked their asses daily. It didn’t matter if he was now the Orange ranger, and one of the best fighters they’d met. The past was still there, and it still stung like a really awkward papercut soaked in lemon juice and vinegar. They’d all be in the same trouble with their identities revealed, sure, but Tommy would be in so much more trouble for something he had no voluntary part in doing.
“Alright Tommy, I need you to try and calm down and look at me.” Emile got level with him, coaching him through breathing until it became much more steady, and he could only look at her with tearful eyes. “We know that you and the Lime ranger are not and were never the same person. What our enemies do is they try to get at our insecurities, and they saw you as a way to do that, but they knew what person you are Tommy.” The rest of the group had backed off slightly, giving the two room, yet still crowding them like a curtain for privacy. “They knew words wouldn’t sway you, so they used some kind of magic to sway you, and you lost who you were.” She wiped his tears. As silent as they were, they still formed. “Let’s say, hypothetically, people found out. Lets say, one day, Jan's tech failed, or Remy gossiped too much, or Roman saw Remus transform and spilled the beans, or if someone did figure it out. We wouldn’t let them hurt you because of that. But even if we keep going in this bad scenario, what's the worst that could have happened, that we can’t fix with evidence, and teamwork, and everything that has made you worthy of this power and identity as much as the rest of us, hm?”
Silence now pierced their ears and hearts as those words sank in for all of them, not just Tommy. They’d never want for each other to fall, but it still could happen. But they were chosen for this job. Chosen for some reason, something that made them more worthy than their classmates, their teachers, their neighbours. Whatever that something was, it counted on them to protect the world from an alien-initiated doomsday. But they were still kids. The silence soon transformed from a searing spear to a soothing tranquil river of thoughts. None of them had said anything. They didn't need to. They’d never let that bad scenario happen, and didn’t need words to communicate their camaraderie.
“Thanks Emile, I… really needed to hear that.” Tommy shook off whatever crippling fear was left inside of him at the moment, standing as proud and as tall as he did in the ranger line up. “You’re right, I have to focus on who I am, and if I do, I’ll probably be who I truly want to be.” Standing up herself, Emile couldn’t help but smile. “I’m glad you got that from what I said, I was getting a bit worried you’d blame yourself, which you shouldn’t, because the guy standing in front of me right now is one of my closest friends, and isn’t to blame for anything.” An almost melancholic atmosphere spread through the group. They all knew that what she said wasn’t the truth, but it would be nicer to believe it was. Just for now.
“Seeing as we’re all standing up already, does anyone want to join me at the library? I’ve got a few books to borrow that might help me with Alphas coding.” Maybe journalism could wait after all, being rangers brought them closer than ever, and Janus would much prefer to be fixing wires than going and losing that friendship after all of that. As they all looked at each other, pondering the idea, the bittersweet expression on their orange friend’s face lit up with joy. “The library? I actually haven’t ever been there, we should all go and you guys can show me around! I wonder if there's any good books on biology there…”
“Yea! Or some more psychology books, I’ve been blazing through them like the Horde trying to blaze through Eternia!”
“What?”
“Kids cartoon reference coffee-brain,”
“Oh.”
Remus walked ahead before turning back to look at his group. His team. His friends. “Look at this! We’ve got a future therapist obsessed with cartoons, a biology professor, a future barista, and a journalist. That's like, at least two Doctors in the group. God I can’t imagine that. What futures we’re gonna have, Eh?” The group caught up to him as Tommy caught his eye.
“We’re rangers, Remus, we are the future.”
-End-
Hope you enjoyed this snippet of what's to come! I doubt I'll be fully consistent, but I'll try to not post too far apart.

Hello and welcome!
I'm Sparrow. This is the blog for Power Rangers : Side Force, a Sander Sides au based in the Power Rangers universe. As I've stockpiled a lot of information on this au, I thought I might as well plague the world with my brain rot. If this kind of au catches your interest, I'd also recommend @its-pronounced-quoassoints TSS x Power Rangers au here. The story is a ride and a half and it's written really well. It's seriously had me hooked and inspired me to get this all down instead of just letting it mentally fester. I'd also recommend @when-day-met-the-knights posts about their au too here. More info under the cut!
General information:
•This is my first work in the fandom, and first public work in general as far as I can remember. Keeping that in mind, characters may be a bit OOC.
•This is a human au, and has the sander sides characters as well as other characters from different things done by Thomas and the crew, though it does mainly focus on the sides. It will also feature C!Thomas, so if that weirds you out for any reason, you should probably skip this au. To make things clear I see C!Thomas and Thomas Sanders the content creator as separate entities, separated by the realms of fiction and non-fiction respectively.
•A lot of the settings and plot elements are from Power Rangers, but with a bit of personal interpretation. Specifically, it's mainly based on the original MMPR series/Zordon era, and the disney series of Dino Thunder and a bit of S.P.D. There is a further reason for it.
•A big part of this au revolves around C!Thomas. Specifically, the mashing up of C!Thomas, and the character of Tommy Oliver from MMPR. In fact, the character of Tommy Oliver is leaned into quite heavily. A mix of canon and headcanon of the MMPR character sneaks its way in here. I don't want to give away too much, but it does mean that throughout the story as a whole, he is referred to as Tommy Oliver and nicknames revolve around that a fair bit, so here's a fair warning.
•I, the creator, am not from America. Despite that, I've tried to write a story set specifically in America. Because of this, I don't doubt that I've gotten a few things wrong whether it comes to geographically, to spelling, to simply culture. I've tried my best but have come to the realisation that it'll always be a weird amalgamation, because this is just a fan work.
•There are going to be a wide range of things discussed in this story from disappearances, to bad relationships, to violence. There will be content warnings for things at the beginning of chapters. It should never be too heavy or dark, it is based on a kids show, but again, if it does, there will be warnings.
•At the time that this was originally thought up and worked on, the Orange side(if there is one) has not been revealed, because of this, I use Orange for a different person.
Plot Summary:
When four teenagers get the powers of a lifetime, they must learn how to exist and thrive with a new set of abilities. With the guidance of a mentor who seems to know more than he lets on, and what happened to their predecessors being a mystery just waiting to be solved, these four Rangers need all the help they can get to find out whats true, false, safe, an dangerous in Power Rangers : Side Force!
Or Alternatively for a more detailed explanation:
Logan, Patton, Roman and Virgil become power rangers by accident. Thomas Oliver Sanders, their new biology teacher, helps them out. The new group of rangers learn how to live with their ranger abilities. However the past begins to come forth as it seems that their teacher is not who he seems, and the last generation of power rangers haven't quite resigned. With juggling their own school, home, ranger, and personal lives these four teens must work together as a team if they have any hope of getting to the bottom of what's truly afoot.
There will be ships, though they aren't the main focus, they just kinda evolved whilst I was writing and. There will be endgame:
Romantic Logince
Romantic Pintroverts
Romantic JanusxRemusxEmilexRemy
Platonic Moxiety.
Format:
The majority of the content for this will probably be on the written side, with chapters and that. That being said, I do have art like ref sheets and that I will share as time goes on. The blog header will show who's chronologically at play at the current time according to the latest chapter posted. There's a single creator on here, so things might take time, especially because I'm figuring out how things work on this site still.
I think that's just it for now! Asks should be open if anyone is curious about anything!
