(spoilers??) something about sk8 angst just hits different

I think it's because it's so realistic in comparison to other shows ?? Take away the unrealistic skating and general anime logic 😭😭 the angst just hits incredibly different because of its relatability,, sharing interests with others & them ending up being better than you, making & breaking promises, the whole shabam 😭

I feel like most people have been in reki's shoes, so everyone comes to terms with the fact that he was most definitely hurt throughout the angst which I most certainly agree with

however I don't feel like most people look at the bigger picture, putting themselves in both of the characters' shoes .. i fear i did that the very first time i watched sk8, almost villainising langa for 'breaking a promise', and really deeply relating to reki's insecurity within his skating compared to others as i also had issues with comparing myself to people who were better at my hobbies

I think some people don't really understand just how crappy the situation was; being in langas shoes, his friend ditched him because of his own insecurities and a sort of lack of respecting langa's freedom of choice (even though it was completely out of care which i absolutely do understand) ..

at the end of the day, there was no 'right' or 'wrong' in the situation which sort of hurts the most because the solution would have to be to just suck it up and support each other unconditionally (which did luckily happen LOL) , i do love how they communicated the issue and worked things out 😭😭 has to be one of my favourite scenes ever

anyway, renga canon i cannot wait for s2.

tiny rant about shigaraki (spoilers)

shigaraki’s inner child kept his memories void from the forefront of his mind, but they were always deep within his conscience

the hands of those he killed were originally known as a reminder of his strength and a power that kept him calm

but now they serve as the hands of those who weigh him down, and him breaking them in the void is a metaphor for him moving on to bigger, better things, embracing his newfound strength and ability to change the world

i haven't finished the manga so bare with me LMAO, but i feel like despite the whole "metaphor" about moving onto better things, he still CAN'T FORGET and that'll inevitably lead to his downfall since tenko shimura is still present

i know this is the most obvious thing ever i just needed to write it down.
