Dramione writing challenge 2025:

This is a lovely idea and rather simple, it’s quite a challenge but I feel like many people are capable of succeeding this challenge!

1.) Write a Dramione fic without bashing the following characters:

Ron Weasley (main one tbh)

Ginny Weasley ( Ginny didn’t give Harry love potion… Romilda was the one that tried to)

The Weasley family (not gold diggers)

2.) Do not over exaggerate Ron’s characteristics from the books/movies in order to make Dramione work. You super talented to write an amazing fic without taking away traits from Ron to give to Draco.

3.) Don’t make Romione (Ron x Hermione) into an abusive relationship, because quite frankly it’s tiring to see this time and time again. Ron would never lay a hand on Hermione, what’s interesting is in canon Hermione is the one to send birds on Ron and also hit him….and yet somehow Ron becomes the abuser?

April 16th 17th and 18th for @jilymicrofics with the prompts is, what and am

“This is for your own safety, Mr Potter.” She manages to keep her tone professional despite her annoyance. He isn’t the first privileged bloke who thinks he can do what he wants, no consequences possibly applying to him.

“I don’t need a bodyguard.” He exclaims, getting up. “It’s nothing personal.” He adds as if it’s an afterthought, barely glancing at her.

“Your father is worried, James. Please.”

His mouth twists, clearly not used to disappointing his mother, but his brow is set in a stubborn frown and Lily isn’t surprised when he walks away.

“James!” His father calls, but he gets out of the door, Lily hot on his heels.

He glances back, noticing her, but doesn’t stop. “Like I said, I don’t need a bodyguard.”

“I was already paid in full.”

He sighs, stopping just inside the Apparition ward. “Are you seriously going to follow me?”

“Until the 31th of the month I am.”

He laughs, exasperation colouring his voice. “Suit yourself. I hope you like Firewhiskey, because that’s where we are going.”

“It’s ten in the morning. And I thought professional athletes were supposed to control their diet.”

She’s correct and he knows it, it’s clear in the annoyance written all over his face. Maybe this job won’t be so bad after all, it’s always easier when a client is a bad liar.

“Tea then. Or do you have something against that as well?”

“No, sir.” She says, then smiles, just a little. A bit unprofessional, but there are no witnesses. “A fine choice.”

“Lilibet!” A hush drew over the great hall. Her father was there, three bodies away, face chalk white. “My Lord Lockhart.” He bowed. Lilibet’s thrumming heart plummeted. “Please forgive my daughter, she did not intend to dishonour your guests.” Lilibet looked into the face of the lord he addressed and saw the man with the sunlight hair. He was gilded from head to toe by the richest of fabrics, finest of jewels and the heaviest livery collar. His face grew pinched and sour, but only momentarily, for the plainer man beside him, with his heavy brown furs, his own golden chain, and wild dark hair—dark hair identical to that of the boy’s, his son’s—looked down at her fearful round face, smiled kindly and asked: “Is it not a great honour to witness the sweet innocence of a child?”

Enter your microfic into this anonymous collection prior to April 30th.

1 Fic per author, maximum word count 1k words

Must feature jily in some fashion

Fics will be released during May and then authors will be guessed via poll.

No author is to confirm or deny guesses! - Authors please be signed out of your accounts when commenting on works, otherwise you may accidentally give yourself away! When commenting on your own work while signed in you pop up as “anonymous author”.

Authors will be revealed once all polls have closed.

Mystery Microfic May- FAQ

In light of some questions we’ve had via DM and discord we’ve created an FAQ, please be sure to ask more questions if you’d like something clarified.

1. Do I have to be part of the discord in order to participate?

It’s not a requirement, but we’ve found discord is the easiest platform for talking about events and giving updates. You can send us a DM to get access to the prompt list if you don’t want to join the discord (the discord is a very fun space though).

2. What happens if two authors select the same prompt?

Not an issue! There's no claim on prompt words

3. Can I submit for more than one prompt?

We allow for only one event submission per author.

4. Does it matter if I’m new to the jily fandom and haven’t posted much or at all yet?

No! All the more reason to participate - this is all just a bit of fun. We’d just love to see more jily content out there.

5. When will authors be revealed?

Once all polls have closed.

6. What if I want to do prompts but don’t want to take part in the event?

That’s totally okay! That’s why we have a separate AO3 sub-collection for the event. May micros will still run as normal with the prompt list pinned and you can add them to the usual AO3 collection - micros added to the regular AO3 collection won’t be included in the event.

She was a stickler for the rules.

Not necessarily because she believed in them, but because it was expected of her. And perhaps that made her a hypocrite of sorts.

Did she truly care if a third year stayed out a few minutes later than curfew because they were hanging with friends from a different house? Did she care if the Hufflepuffs got a little too rowdy after a Quidditch victory? Or if a couple of fourth years snuck library books out from under Pince’s watchful eyes?

Truthfully, no.

But when it came to James Potter and his miscreant friends, she absolutely cared. And if it took feigning indignation over these other infractions to keep her from looking biased against Potter and his mates, she would gladly do so every time.

Because James Potter was the bane of her existence. He was a thorn in her side she could never reach. The rock in the bottom of her shoe that made every step uncomfortable. He was that little headache between her eyes that no tonic could cure.

Worse of all, she liked him.

Despite how hard she fought against them, the feelings grew ever stronger. They crystalized into butterflies in her stomach; they flowed through her bloodstream like the buzz from alcohol. They appeared at the most inopportune moments, often during classes or after-hours patrols where she, even as a fifth year Prefect, was expected to uphold the rules.

And so, she set aside her fondness and feelings, she buried them deeply, sowed them under the treacherous branches of the Whomping Willow, and pretended that just like every other rule-breaker in the school, she cared little about what James Potter did.

Until eventually, she could not escape the fact that she did care—care more about him than she could ever care about enforcing a list of silly, menial school rules.

“Oi, Evans!”

She tries to tamp down the irritation, but her tone is still biting as she turns to face him. “Yes, Potter?”

“No hard feelings, right? I didn’t want to put you on the spot.” She glances behind him and sure enough his mates are a few steps back, peering at them. Black and Pettigrew watch with interest, as if waiting for her to snap, but at least Remus, her fellow prefect, grants her the courtesy to look a little embarrassed. Not the bloke in front of her though. No, he’s standing proudly with his usual shit eating grin that grates on her nerves plastered on his face, as if he didn’t just make her look like an idiot in front of their Head of House.

“Really?”

“Well, Slughorn always says you’re the best, I thought that was true for Transfiguration as well. If anyone could know the answer, it had to be you.”

“And I suppose it had nothing to do with the double detention I gave you and Black last week.”

“Nah.” He says, smirking as he shrugs. “You’re the one who holds a grudge. See you later, Evans.”

She tries to hold back, she really does, she is a Prefect for Merlin’s sake, but then he has the gall to wink at her above his shoulder and she’s calling after him before she can stop herself. “Sod off, Potter!”

When the Order of the Phoenix discovers that Lucius Malfoy, rich bachelor and womaniser extraordinaire, may secretly be a Death Eater with access to an item that could be the key to bringing down Voldemort, Lily Evans comes up with a brilliant plan: to seduce him into inviting her to his house, and then take the opportunity to snoop around for information. James Potter, her mission partner, is less than thrilled with this idea.

People say there’s a fine line between brilliance and insanity.

James Potter had always been very well acquainted with that line. He’d toed it and hopscotched across it, sometimes landing on one side, sometimes on the other, but always keeping close to it, retreating to the safe side before danger caught up with him.

Unlike Lily Evans, who had apparently decided to stomp past it until she was a miniature dot on the horizon.

“Are you fucking insane, Evans?”

“What?” she challenged. “It’s a great plan. We need information. He likes redheads. It’s the obvious solution. Dumbledore agreed with me.”

James used to think that Dumbledore was the greatest wizard of all time, a light beam of knowledge and a mastermind of strategy.

Now, he was watching his senile form disappear in the distance, hand in hand with Lily’s sense of self-preservation.

“He is very likely a Death Eater, and he’s smart enough to have avoided all suspicion till now.”

“So what makes you think he’ll be stupid enough to harm me?”

“If you’re alone with him? In his house?” He ran a hand through his hair – no, both hands, the situation was too frustrating for just the one. “Have you seen his house, Evans? It’s huge and well-guarded with all sorts of protective charms and magical shields. If he finds you snooping around his stuff, he’ll throw you into some basement cellar and you’ll never see the light of day again – and that’s the best case scenario.”

Lily waved a dismissive hand at him. “I’ll be fine. The worst he can do is disappoint in bed.”
