Re-watching early X-Files, it strikes one that it's not actually unreasonable for Mulder to assume a lot of what Scully says to him is some sort of esoteric flirting thing, because who the fuck talks to people like that, while we as the audience can see that she just talks like that all the time, including to herself when she's alone.

a while back I saw an Animorphs-related post asking people what their ideal battle morph would be, and my honest answer is hork-bajir because I really just adore their design, but that got me thinking—the circumstances through which an Animorph could potentially have acquired a hork-bajir early enough in the series for it to be their regular battle morph would have to be super tragic. like, imagine being a demorphed and currently-human Animorph, acquiring a dying hork-bajir controller (after their yeerk has bailed out of the host body) in order to help the hork-bajir pass on more peacefully. then you end up in a battle morph that for all you know is the brother or sister or cousin or daughter of any of the other hork-bajir controller’s host bodies, and maybe there’s free hork-bajir near the end of the series who think you are that lost family member. like, what a weird gut punch that would be.

I guess it’s good to know my go-to battle morph would have some canon-compliant angst to accompany it.
