Apropos of nothing

Back when I was in college in the early 90s, all the most colorful personal ads were in the back section of the Public News, Houston’s alt newspaper. It was about the only mainstream place at the time where you’d see ads for gay, poly, swinging, etc. relationships.

My favorite ad from those days is from the “men seeking men” section. I still remember it word for word over twenty years later:

Recent amputee into black magic and falconry seeking same.

The “seeking same”has always struck me as the epitome of romantic optimism. I like to believe that dude found who he was looking for.
