- in most cases a cybertronian compresses from root mode into their alt-mode. Shuttleformers break that norm however, instead having very large portions of their alt-modes mass in subspace when in root-mode. This has some consequences.

- in some ways their shuttle form could be considered their most "natural" state. They get..twitchy if they go for too long without spending time in alt. They feel almost cramped and claustrophobic. Some go so far as to spend most of their rest cycles in alt.

- Adding to that it also means large portions of their systems and components are completely inaccessible from root-mode, this can become problematic quickly if a shuttle can't find someone they trust to do maintenance on their alt. Or even just being something a medic needs to reach.

- Which speaking of: being built for space ain't easy, for being so big theyve got a lot of delicate parts inside them. If one or two breaks its not immediately threatning, but it can quickly escalate from there. Its why shuttles can benefit a lot from having a solid relationship with whats essentially a 'crew' who performs the necessary maintenance. Other cybertronians need semi-regular maintenace too, their just smaller and as such dosen't have so many complex bits in them that needs so much upkeep and that they can't reach on their own.

- Of course the upside is that their usually rather comfortable spending large portions of time in just their alt, ideal for traveling trough the galaxy, ecspecially for explorers like Jetfire.

Someone’s probably done this before, but First Contact! AU where Jim is an astronaut who got stranded and Spock is the vulcan scientist who saved him.

I was thinking something like The Martian where he got stranded on a planet during a mission, lost contact with the rest of his team and presumed dead, Spock is a vulcan scientist who was there on a research trip when he found jim's injured body and brought jim back to his ship despite vulcan's strict non-interference policy. Can be Mcspirk too with bones being jim's friend and a NASA scientist who refuses to believe jim is dead and tries to get a rescue mission to search for Jim despite everyone else thinking he's just griefing/in denial.

I've been turning this thing in my head for a few weeks like a microwave, but i'm not a good writer lol, so if anyone wants to make something of it feel free, please tag me so i can see it!!

Wei Wuxian works in a cafe and meets Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi who are doing their talisman homework there. He helps them out and explains a lot to them. Lan Jingyi's answer to one of the exercises isn't the textbook answer but still technically correct.

This is how Wei Wuxian ends up meeting and arguing with Lan Qiren about Jingyi's homework and gets a new job. (He also meets his future husband who falls in love at first sight with the man wildly arguing with his uncle).

if they're already dating they would somehow manage to outdo themselves as the school's most obnoxious couple

because OF COURSE they somehow manage to manipulate the system in order to become each other's partner

date nights are now family nights, complete with children's movies and age appropriate games and exercises for little baby a-yuan (because of course they name the flour sack). they give madam yu and lan qiren simultaneous heart attacks when they announce that they have become a grandmother and a great-uncle, respectively, with the utmost of sincerity. lwj carries around a fully prepped diaper bag to classes. wwx carries the sack around in a baby carrier. lwj goes away for a national orchestra competition over a long weekend and he acts like he's being sent to war while wwx goes full out single mother widower mode, to everyone's consternation. how dare you insult me in front of my own child, a-cheng, what kind of example are you setting for your poor, defenseless nephew? what are you buying for a-yuan's one month celebration xiongzhang? yanli knits the flour sack a little hat.

and if they manage to discover their mutual breeding kink way before they should have otherwise, wwx is only nominally vocal about it. and if jiang cheng has to suddenly babysit a flour sack because of this discovery he's being VERY vocal about it.

and if they're not already dating it would be the world's fastest mutual pining resolution

oh, hahahaha, don't worry about it, this is totally chill, i can be totally chill about this lan zhan. yes, yes, of course we have to take it seriously, i just meant that i'll try to stay out of your hair- of course we have to do this together, i just meant- what do you mean you don't mind spending time with me? oh. cool. coolcoolcool, yeah, sure, i'll come around your house at? seven? cool.

and that's how they go from wwx constantly bothering lwj and lwj being Objectively Weird about wwx to them spending every single night after school together. they're meticulous about their care for a-yuan (because of course they name the flour sack). he goes down for his naps on time, he gets fed every fourth hour, they take turns keeping him entertained. lwj gets to see wwx being actually serious about something for the first time ever and wwx gets a glimpse of the overflowing well of lwj's affections. they fall into co-parenting as naturally as breathing. they get marks for their dedication in class. and no, huaisang, wwx can't come to your rager of a party tonight, because he and lan zhan has to keep up a-yuan's bathing routine, and no, it's not because he's weirdly obsessed with lan zhan, what are you talking about. and sorry uncle, but lwj won't be available for their weekly tea session this week, because he and wei ying has a playdate for a-yuan at the playground, and no of course he's not being irrational about this, this is his academic career on the line, obviously.

and of course as the end of them playing house rapidly approaches, both of them suddenly realizes that they wouldn't mind keeping up the roleplay of husband and wife for the rest of, like, forever.

and no matter which route this takes, when they, years and years and years later, meets little orphan wen yuan it's fate for a lot of reasons, and they've still hung on to their pictures to show him of his flour-ge as he grows up.
