The Barbie movie reminded me about how when I was little my parents were upset that I kept making my Barbie dolls kiss, so they bought me a Ken doll. The next day they found me having a funeral for poor Ken in the garden, he had died of tuberculosis. All the Barbies were in attendance and I buried him under our rose bush. The Barbies were too poor to afford a headstone (it was 1875) so I didn’t mark where the grave was and I never could find him again. He’s probably still there.

Your feet nearly slipped as you ran through the corridors, the soles of your boots struggling to find grip as they tipped the ground only shortly. Hair had fallen from your braid, the strands bouncing against your ears as the wind pushed and pulled at them. Your chest throbbed against the blouse you were wearing, lungs aching for a deep breath.
Turning a corner, you finally found yourself in the hallway you had to be. The door halfway was your final destination.
And the place the meeting had started ten minutes ago.

Question...?
Sirius Black x fem!reader
word count: 5.9k
summary: it’s been six months since Sirius left her in the middle of the night and now he can’t remember who he was before she painted all his nights a colour he has been searching for since
warnings: alcohol and eating mentions, light swearing
Tumblr media
The bar was crowded and loud, but Sirius didn’t mind. He was glad to have a change of scene, something different than a night in his silent apartment and with the never-ending whirlwind of thoughts banging against his skull.
When James had texted him night out tonight. you coming? this morning at work he had immediately accepted and counted down the hours until he could leave that horrid office and celebrate the survival of another week. At home, he had changed outfits and eaten a quick dinner with what was left in his fridge and now he was sitting next to Peter, happily nursing a pint of beer in his hands.

oh you have no idea how much this means to me! thank you so much, love🩷
hey I want wondering if you could do a harry j potter x reader oneshot when the are dating for a few months (takes place in ootp or hbp I don’t really mind which) and reader is still not completely comfortable with cuddling and that kind of stuff with harry cause she just isn’t used to physical contact and one day when harry wants to cuddle with her in the evening she stiffens or flinches and harry is extremely worried (yk him and his adorable overreacting) cause he doesn’t know if she has any trauma or something and you can make the rest up just make it extremely fluffy (only if you want to do it tho I just think it’d be very cute <3)
hi love, so while my requests are technically not open, you were lucky there weren't many requests from my celebration so i did write this :) and it wouldn't be a blurb from me if it wasn't 1.3k words (i swear i'm not doing it on purpose)
Flinch
Tumblr media
The fire spit out sparks near your feet as you poured over your Divination homework. You were halfway but it was becoming harder and harder to come up with solutions and explanations of your dreams and with every minute that passed your concentration grew smaller. Not that there had been much to begin with when you'd started, but whether you liked it or not, the deadline was approaching fast.
Just as you'd finished describing your dream of last Thursday—something to do with unruly black hair and glasses—you got interrupted. Someone dropped to the couch behind where you were sitting on the floor and let out a loud sigh. Then in the corner of your eye you saw a flash of red hair darting to the last empty chair on your side, followed by a "How gentleman-like of you, Ron".
Hermione sat down next to you on the floor and glanced at your parchment. "I feel sad for you."
"You should," you said, dropping your quill and massaging your forehead with your fingers. "It's a wreck."
"Wait a minute." Ron perked up from his slouch in the armchair. "Why did you not feel sorry for me when I complained about it today?"
Hermione shook her head. "Because you don't even try, Ron! You predicted you'd be caught by a mob of horses and be forced to turn into a centaur."
"So?" Ron shrugged. "That's just what my dream meant."
"Be careful," you said to Ron. "Or soon you'll dream it's a mob of Hermiones chasing you."
Ron shivered as if that was the worst nightmare anyone could have and behind you Harry barked a laugh. You looked back at your boyfriend and smiled. The dating thing was still new and you were trying to find your way with it, but you were glad to have made him laugh.
"Hush now," you said, waving a hand towards Ron. "I want to finish this."
You did get silence but only for five minutes or so before Ron started to talk about the upcoming quidditch game against Ravenclaw. You, who had been busy coming up with a dream for Friday—maybe Ron's technique wasn't all that bad after all—got pulled from your focus. You tried for ten more minutes, but eventually had to admit that you were doing more bad than good and would have to correct everything you wrote tomorrow so you gave up  You threw your quill down and rested back against the bottom of the sofa, right next to Harry's legs.
Without turning away from his conversation, he laid his hand atop your head and started massaging it.
You froze, heart skipping a beat and pumping twice as fast after. Every muscle in your body grew rigid, frozen, and you carefully moved away, pretending to grab something of the table, but in fact trying to get away as unnoticeable as possible.
No one noticed. Harry's hand fell back but he said nothing nor did he move closer again. With a pounding heart you stared at your Divination paper, pretending you were fixing a mistake.
It wasn't Harry's fault. Really not. You'd never been good with physical contact but you also never thought it a real problem till you got together with Harry. Now each time he wrapped an arm around you or reached for your hand, you froze, panicked, feared. You weren't even sure why.
You also didn't know if Harry had noticed. He had never said anything about it and whenever it happened and you pulled away he seemed not to notice it. But you knew it wasn't fair to him and you did try to do better. Just yesterday he had taken your hand and without too much panic you'd held onto it for the entire walk.
It was a slow process and many times you were on the verge of telling him about it, but you were scared.
After a few minutes of calming down, you got up and sat next to Harry on the sofa, leaving enough space so you weren't touching but no one would think anything of it.
Ron was animatedly telling a story about Flitwick who had fallen off his chair and Harry turned to you.
"You alright?" he asked softly.
"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine." You bit your lip and Harry's gaze flicked down but back up quickly.
"Are you sure?" he went on. "You seem a bit off."
"No, all's good. Don't worry." You shrugged. "Just tired."
"Okay." Harry's mouth split into a smile. "'Cause you'd tell me if something was wrong right?"
"Of course." You tried a smile and apparently it was convincing enough for him to drop the subject.
"It's not that funny, Ron," Hermione said, tearing your focus from Harry. She shook her head while Ron wiped a tear from the corner of his eye.
Next to you, Harry smiled lazily. "It kinda was. He made the funniest noise ever." He proceeded to make some high-pitched noise that had Ron roaring with laughter in his chair until he fell off.
"Serves you right," Hermione mumbled, but there was a smile on her face.
You laughed and sunk a little more into the sofa. So much that you almost didn't see what happened next to you. Almost.
Harry stretched out his arm to lay it over your shoulders and before you could stop it, you flinched.
And this time there was no mistaking it. He noticed.
"What-?" he stuttered.
Your eyes were wide, your body frozen in shock. You hadn't meant for it to happen, didn't even know it would happen. You'd been on edge all day, tired, overworked, but you never figured it would end up like this.
And unfortunately not only Harry noticed.
"Ron," Hermione said. "Ron, come on. I want to talk to you."
Ron looked up from where he hadn't even bothered get up from the floor. "Why?"
"Just something." Hermione's eyes flicked to your frozen body and Harry's face that you were too afraid to look at. "Quickly. Come on, Ron."
"Alright, fine. But I don't see what could possibly be so important."
"Just come!"
Hermione quickly left, Ron following after her reluctantly. You were glad she'd given you some privacy, but you didn't want to see the undoubtedly hurt look on Harry's face.
"y/n?" Harry didn't reach out for you and somehow that hurt. "Can you look at me?"
You took a deep breath and looked up. You had expected pain, anger, disappointment, but instead there was only worry and confusion. Harry's eyes were full of concern and that gave you the slightest of hope. He didn't hate you.
"What happened?" he asked softly.
"I'm trying really hard, Harry. It's just... physical contact and touch and everything---it doesn't come easy to me. I don't know why; it's just always been so for me." You looked down at your hands in your lap. "And I want to change that. I do. But it takes time."
Harry was silent for a long time and you didn't look at him. You'd understand if he didn't want to see you any longer, if he wanted to break things off. You'd hate that, of course, but you'd understand.
"We have time."
"What?"
You lifted your gaze to his face. He was watching you with a smile.
"You said it takes time. We have time. All the time in the world if we need."
"You mean that," you realised.
"I do. I don't want to lose you over something like this. We'll find our way with it. I promise."
A watery laugh fell from your lips. You nodded, more relieved than words could describe. He didn't hate you, not at all. Your fears had been ungrounded.
"Thank you," you said. And very carefully, you placed your hand atop Harry's one. Nerves spiked in your chest, but you pushed them down. "It's not that I hate you touching me. It's just a bit more difficult."
Harry turned his hand over and held yours. He was careful, soft.
"That's alright," he said. "I'm still yours."

hiya! thanks for asking, but unfortunately not :/ writing has been hard lately so it doesn't seem fair to have people make requests and me then not being able to make the best of it!

owh sorry but glad you're doing good!!
whahaha i wish i had some brilliant advice but honestly i'm the same (you should see the amount of wips i have🫣)
but one writing tip that has always helped me is just write. it doesn't matter if it's bad or downright awful, just write the whole thing and then go back later to see what you can use from it. finishing something can be really hard so just getting to the end is an accomplishment on its own! editing is a brilliant trick ;)
and if you ever get stuck or need someone to yell at you to motivate you, you can hit me up!!
Devvv, how’you been??
Max hi!!! i'm good, thanks! enjoying the summer so far, so that's great 🌞
it's so good to hear from you again!! how are you??

Searching through the pile of records you finally find the one you were looking for. Putting it in a song starts to play, one you’ve heard way too many times before but not the one you wanted to hear. Sitting down on your sofa you pick up the cup of tea from the table, putting your feet up. It’s one of those afternoons again, one where everything seems harder than it should be, especially after 4 months. The warm liquid in your cup helps calm you down a bit but even then, tea can only do so much. Sometimes you wish there would be a way to make a potion that would make you feel better or that would help you forget for a bit but sadly, even with magic, that isn’t possible.
You get lost in your thoughts until the beginning tunes of a slow song start playing, bringing you back to Earth. You thought you had already used up all your tears but a new batch comes pouring out of your eyes. They’re not full-on sobs but more quiet tears, the ones you got used to in the past few months. Wiping them off you stand up, twirling around for a bit. You know you look silly but you couldn’t care less, the memories of all those sleepless nights coming up in your head. Closing your eyes you just let them play out, a small smile appearing on your face. But before the song finishes up somebody knocks on your door, waking you up from your daydreaming. Making your way to the door you open them, a familiar face appearing in front of you. Taking him in you look him up and down, the plastic bag in his hands catching your attention.
“I brought you food,” Sirius says before you could question him and you nod, letting him in. “Y/N…” he starts but you stop him with a look, walking to the gramophone and stopping the music. He sighs, immediately knowing it’s one of the harder days. He places the bag on your counter, taking out the food and putting it on the two plates he grabbed before. He finds the drawer with forks, takes out two and sits down beside you on the sofa. You silently take one plate and bite into the dish. The food is amazing but you can’t bring yourself to take another bite. You stare at the plate for several minutes until Sirius takes it out of your hands, placing it on the table. “Thank you for trying,” he whispers, pulling you into him. These past few months have been incredibly hard for both of you. Sometimes you forget Sirius is also going through this, not only you. Ever since James went missing the two of you have been spending more time together, mostly because you understand each other’s pain. Most days were spent in the quiet, the world around you moving but you simply sitting there, wrapped up in different thoughts. Some days you would talk, talk about all the good memories you share, talk about how the world isn’t fair. This is one of the quiet days. At least it was, until he decided to speak.
“Get up, I’m taking you somewhere,” Sirius suddenly says, making you look at him weirdly. “It will make you feel better, I promise,” he adds and you reluctantly take his hand. He guides you through the door to his car, sitting you down on the passenger side. He sits down behind the wheel, starting the car and driving down the street.
The drive takes about 20 minutes until you suddenly stop, God knows where. There are no houses in sight, only the road that leads to here and grass. Miles and miles of grass. You let your eyes travel to Sirius’, a million questions popping up in your head.
“I used to come here a lot after my family disowned me,” he starts, a couple of metres away from you. “I drove around a lot, trying to clear my head, trying to forget for a bit. One time I went away from my usual road and I ended up here,” he continues, putting his hands into his pants pockets. “After looking around I realised nobody lives near and that nobody can hear me. So I just screamed. I screamed and I screamed until my throat was sore. I shouted at the world, I cussed out my whole family, and I cried about how life is unfair. And believe it or not, it helped. It helped so much Y/N and I kept coming here night after night until one day everything stopped being so goddamn hard,” he explains, tears appearing in his eyes. “You don’t have to do exactly what I did, but you need to find something that will help you cope. You can’t wait at home every day, hoping that he will come back because frankly, he could be dead for all we know,” he whispers, a sharp pain appearing in your chest. “I know you don’t want to hear that, I don’t either but it's the truth,” and you know he’s right, he usually is. James Potter may be dead. It hits you for the first time, really hits you. Somewhere in the back of your mind you knew but you needed to hear it to fully think of the possibility. And suddenly the world stops, making it hard to breathe. This time your body rocks with sobs and you cry so loud that you think the whole world hears you. Falling to your knees you grab your chest, thankful for the soft grass under you. You sob and scream and god knows what else until you’re physically too tired to continue. Only then Sirius appears beside you, lifting you up and wrapping his arms around you in a tight hug. You're grateful for his support because you don’t think you could stand on your own. Catching your breath you lean into him, listening to the words coming out of his mouth.
“I know it doesn’t seem like it now but one day, it will get easier. I promise you that, Y/N,” he mutters, caressing your back. You thank him in such a small voice you don’t even know if he heard you. Honestly, that doesn’t even matter right now because you know he knows. Just like you know that even if James doesn’t come back, you will start to feel better eventually because that’s just how life goes.

Chapter Three
Remus snickered at you from where he sat on your bed as he watched you push hangers aside, fully intent on finding something warm to wear. It was the first Hogsmeade trip of the year and it was freezing outside, it was also Halloween.
“What?” you scowled at your friend over your shoulder and he held up his hands in mock surrender.
“We’re gonna be late at this rate.”
You rolled your eyes as you fixed Remus with a glare that he only innocently smiled at, “then help me, Remus.”
He laughed and made a show of huffing as he got up from your bed and walked over to help you look, “Merlin, Y/N,” he chuckled, “you literally don’t have anything for freezing weather. You do realise that we’re in the Scottish Highlands, right?” he quirked an eyebrow as he pulled out a lacy pair of red lingerie, “Y/N…”
You blushed furiously as you snatched the lingerie from him and threw it into the depths of your wardrobe, “I prefer style over comfort, okay?”
Remus rolled his eyes and raked a hand through his hair, “fine, wait here,” he was gone for a couple of moments before he returned with an emerald green jumper, “here,” he threw it at you and you caught it, giving him a questioning look, “it’ll keep you warm.”
You smiled, “thanks, Remus.”
Remus was right, it was very warm and due to Remus being tall and lanky it was more like a dress on you but it was soft and you liked it. Remus smiled in satisfaction when you came out of your bathroom in the jumper.
“It looks so good on you.”
“Thanks, Remus,” you grinned before stopping short, “do you think that Sirius is going to be okay today?” Halloween was Sirius’ favourite holiday, but it had been Regulus’ favourite too.
Remus sighed with a nod, “he’ll be fine around his friends. The question is, will you be okay?” he asked you as he wrapped his arms around you. You smiled into his chest as you nodded before pulling away slightly.
“I’ll be fine, everyone thought I was in love with him, even Lucius but Regulus was my best friend, I miss him so much.”
“I know, Y/N,” Remus nodded as he pulled you into another hug, his hand tangled in your hair.
You laughed lightly to break the tension, “come on, let’s go.”
As you and Remus left your dormitory you ran into Sirius, he looked surprised when he ran into both you and Remus, “hey, I was coming to find you, to ask if you’d seen Remus but you guys are together,” a muscle fluttered in his jaw as he looked between you and Remus, “is that Remus’ jumper?”
“Yeah, and?” you countered, raising an eyebrow.
Sirius’ eyes flashed with something that you couldn’t quite put your finger on, he finally shrugged, “nothing, come on, James and Lily will be waiting for us,” he stormed ahead without waiting for an answer.
You and Remus exchanged an amused look as you followed Sirius down the corridor, “he’s jealous,” Remus smirked at you.
You laughed, you very much doubted that Sirius had ever felt jealous about anything, “of me or you?”
Remus pretended to think for a moment, “both?” he offered making you laugh.
“Both is good,” you both snickered and hurried to catch up with Sirius.
You met James and Lily in the Entrance Hall where they were talking to Harry, as you neared the three of them, you could hear Harry complaining. It was almost scary how much he sounded like James when he was complaining.
“But, why?” he whined.
You could tell that Lily was trying not to laugh at her son, “it’s always been that way, angel, you can come to Hogsmeade next year.”
“I always thought it was a stupid rule too, Harry,” you ruffled his already messy hair, making him grin up at you, “I’ll bring you some sweets from Honeydukes.”
He nodded with a satisfied look on his face, “thanks, Aunt Y/N,” he said his goodbyes and then went off to meet his friends.
Lily grinned over at you, “ooh, I love that jumper, very cute.”
Before you could reply, Sirius cut in, “it’s Remus’.”
You and Remus exchanged a look, yours was one of bewilderment while the look on Remus’ face was very smug. Lily raised an eyebrow at Sirius, “so, what’s your point?”
Sirius shrugged for the second time that morning, “no point, I’m just saying.”
James looked between you and Sirius with narrowed eyes before shaking his head, come on guys, let’s go.”
As soon as you walked out of the castle you wrapped the jumper tighter around yourself, silently thanking Merlin for Remus making you wear it. Remus saw your reaction and smirked, looking very pleased with himself. The walk to Hogsmeade was just as beautiful as you remembered it, the wind blew through the fiery embers of the leaves and you smiled as you spotted a group of Hippogriffs rise up through the trees and fly South.
A wave of emotion washed over you as you saw the pretty village nestled in the hills beyond the ancient ruins, “it looks exactly the same,” you breathed.
James nodded, “yeah, it is pretty much the same.”
It was hard to explain the feeling that Hogsmeade gave you, it was like the air was fizzing with magic.
“Right,” James clapped his hands together making you jump, “what’s the plan?”
“I need to get some stuff for my classes,” Remus spoke up and you nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, same, and I need to go to Honeydukes too.”
Remus glanced at you, “well, why don’t I meet you at Honeydukes and then we can all meet up at the Three Broomsticks?”
“Sure,” you smiled and Lily nodded.
“Sounds good, see you guys soon,”
The five of you quickly went your separate ways, just like old times. As you restocked your potion ingredient supply you caught up with the old farmer who looked far more grizzled than when you were in school. You were quick to catch up with him before you were rushing over to Honeydukes. It seemed like your rushing was in vain because you were the first one to arrive at the sweet shop. The smell of sugar was so nostalgic, it transported you back 15 years.
“Can you please get me another box of Sugar Quills?” you pouted as you tried and failed to grab the box of sweet treats from the high shelf.
“Of course,” Regulus grinned as he effortlessly grabbed the box of sweets and handed it to you.
“Thank you, baby.”
“Anything for my favourite lady,” you laughed at your best friend and turned to see your boyfriend entering the shop.
“Hi, angel,” he grinned and leaned down to kiss you, when he pulled away he raised a silver eyebrow, “so, you’re the encouragement of Y/N’s addiction are you?” Lucius drawled as he squinted at Regulus.
Regulus rolled his eyes, “Merlin, Malfoy, it’s a bit of sugar, lighten up will you,” he scowled and pushed past Lucius. It was common knowledge that Regulus hated Lucius.
“Y/N,” Remus’ voice pulled you out of your memories and you smiled at him.
“Hey, Rem,” you grabbed some sweets for Harry and a couple of boxes of Sugar Quills to which Remus snickered, “nothing’s changed then?” he asked nodding at the sweets.
“I wouldn’t say so,” you laughed.
As you were walking down the high street, Remus unwrapped a bar of chocolate, “want some?” he offered it to you. You smiled at him as you leaned forwards and took a big bite out of it, “hey!” Remus yelped, and you rolled your eyes, knowing that he’d bought enough chocolate to last him a lifetime.
Drinks with the others were really nice – Sirius had gotten rid of his foul mood – and James didn’t have to sweet talk the barmaid into selling him Fire Whiskey. Every time you heard the door swing open you looked up, half expecting the gang of Slytherins to saunter in and torment the gang of Gryffindors sitting by the fire. But of course, that never happened.
At the Halloween feast that evening, Sirius gave you a small smile as he passed you the plate of pumpkin pie, “I’m sorry that I’ve been in a weird mood today.”
You smiled at him as you took a slice of pie, “you don’t have to apologise, it’s all good.”
Sirius regarded you with grey eyes as he took a deep drink from his goblet, “you’ve thought about him today, haven’t you?”
You sighed and nodded, “it’s hard not to, he loved Halloween, I miss him so much.”
Sirius nodded, “I miss him too,” he gave you a weak smile before he chuckled, “do you remember when we won the Quidditch Cup? It was mine and James’ last year?”
You almost snorted into your pie, “when your brother called me a fucking show off?” you giggled as you were forced into the past once more.
The crowd below you were roaring in appreciation as everyone watched the match that would determine the winner of the Quidditch Cup. Regulus smirked at you as you both searched for the snitch.
“You really want to win this one last time for James, huh?” he shouted at you over the wind.
“Don’t put me off, Reggie,” you squinted as you saw something gold flit around the pale sky.
You quickly swerved around Regulus and you heard him swear as you hurried after the snitch. The snitch was a mere hair away but it was still too far for you to reach, you weren’t going to win this, Reggie was catching up and he was an excellent seeker.
In that moment, you decided to do something very stupid, carefully but quickly you stood, balancing on your broom and leaning forwards. You did your best to ignore the gasps of the crowd 100 feet below you. This position gave you the leverage you needed and as you were about to grab the snitch you fell. Your heart was in your throat as one hand grabbed something cold and the other grabbed something warm and smooth.
When you opened your eyes you were dangling from your broom with one hand and the other hand was grasping the snitch. You laughed and held it in the air as the crowd went wild below you. You heard a chuckle in your ear and Regulus pulled you back onto your broom with a smirk on his face.
“You’re such a fucking show off, Potter,” he grinned, “but I’m so proud of you,” he pulled you into the tightest hug.
“Y’know when you and Malfoy split up, I always thought you and Reg would end up together.”
You shook your head, “everyone thought that, but Reggie and I were never like that.”
Sirius nodded before his face grew sad, “sometimes I think that it’s my fault that he joined Voldemort, my fault that he was killed.”
You sighed, placing a hand on his arm, a funny feeling swirling in your stomach, “Regulus loved you Sirius, never forget that.”

Chapter Two
It was a beautiful Sunday morning when you awoke on the day of the Quidditch trials, as the Quidditch coach, James would be coming up to Hogwarts in the afternoon to help Oliver Wood make his decision. You smiled as you looked out of your dormitory room window at the clear day, watching how the sun caught the water of the Black Lake. You missed being a student, you had loved Hogwarts but looking back it was possible that you didn’t appreciate it fully. Though, that could be said about a lot of things.
You were intending on having a late and leisurely breakfast, unfortunately it seemed as though Sirius had had the same idea as you met him in the corridor.
“Mornin’ Y/N,” he spoke, only barely managing to conceal a yawn, his voice wrecked with sleep.
“Morning, wild Saturday night was it?”
“Ha, ha,” he said drily, trying to glare at you but he failed, shooting a lazy grin your way.
You ignored him with a shake of your head and you stared at the Transfiguration courtyard as you passed it. There was a ruckus further up the corridor which caused you and Sirius to share a glance as you quickened the pace of your walking. It wasn’t until Hermione came running towards you that you got worried.
“Professors!” Hermione gasped nearly out of breath, “it’s Harry and Draco, they’re fighting!”
You and Sirius quickly followed Hermione to where the two second years were fighting, the students gathered around them where egging them on to fight. You had expected them to be duelling but they were actually fist fighting. Harry had a bleeding nose while Malfoy had a bruise high on his cheekbone and his usual slick backed hair was a mess.
“Hey!” you and Sirius shouted in unison as you rushed forwards, pulling the boys apart. Harry was still fighting to get at Malfoy even as you pulled him away.
The two boys were yelling at each other but you couldn’t make out what Malfoy was saying because Harry’s voice was louder, “be quiet,” you said softly.
At your words, Harry smirked over at Malfoy, “yeah, Malfoy. Be quiet!”
“Harry, I wasn’t talking to Draco,” your godson looked up at you with a look of shock and horror on his face.
Sirius looked pained as he glanced between you and Harry, “why don’t you have a word with Harry?” he suggested, “and I’ll sort this little toe rag out,” he muttered under his breath so only you could hear.
You laughed and nodded at him, “that would be great, thank you.”
“Of course,” Sirius smiled, “let’s go, Malfoy.”
Sirius led Malfoy away in the direction of his office while you led Harry in the direction of yours. Before you could get any words out, Harry threw himself into a chair and looked at you sullenly.
“You didn’t have to take his side, you know.”
“Harry, sweetheart. I wasn’t taking any sides,” you sighed as you pushed a box of tissues over to him so he could staunch the bleeding, “what happened? I know your parents certainly don’t encourage fighting.”
The young boy looked at his feet before he glanced back up at you, “he called Hermione a mudblood, it’s not the first time he’s called her that either. And, then he was bullying Neville and I just lost it.”
You couldn’t quite believe that a twelve-year-old boy could be so cruel, “I know you and Malfoy have had an unhappy relationship. I know you practically hate each other and I think it’s very commendable that you’re looking out for your friends but it’s never been physical before, Harry,” you desperately wanted him to talk to you, you wanted to help him.
“What do you think people see when they look at me?” his green eyes were glassy and he furiously rubbed them before any tears fell, and he didn’t wait for you to answer, “they see my parents. Every single time. How could they not? My parents saved everyone when they won the war, I just want to be like them.”
For a long moment, you just stared at your nephew and for the first time you realised just how much he felt like he was in James and Lily’s shadow. He didn’t have to be like them, he just had to be a kid. That was all he had to be.
“You don’t have to be a hero, Harry. Just enjoy your time at Hogwarts with your friends.”
Harry shifted his eyes away from yours, “speaking of, I should probably go,” he said as he stood up from his chair and you nodded.
“You know, I have to take points from Gryffindor, right? No matter how much it pains me, I have to be fair.”
“I understand; you won’t tell dad will you?”
You almost laughed at the nervous expression on his face, “you know, it will be going around the school,” you paused, “but he won’t hear about it from me.”
Harry grinned, “thanks, Aunt Y/N.”
About 5 minutes later, Sirius knocked on your open door, “hi,” you nodded at him to come in.
“How is he?” he asked, slowly stalking over to you.
You sighed, “he’s living in James and Lily’s shadow. I mean, I get it, I’d feel the same if my parents were big time war heroes. What happened with Malfoy?”
Sirius rolled his eyes, “only managed to take a few points from Slytherin. Was going to give him detention but someone tipped Snivellus off.”
You laughed at the displeased look on his face, it took him a couple of moments but he quickly caved and started laughing too. He bit his lip and put something wrapped up in napkins on your desk.
“What in Merlin is that?”
“You missed breakfast, I only just got there in time.”
“Oh,” you started, it was kind of him but you felt slightly awkward, “you didn’t have to do that, I would have just gone down to the kitchens.”
Sirius grumbled a little, “then don’t eat it, Y/N,” he rubbed a hand over his face and you felt a little guilty, “are you coming to watch the Quidditch try outs? There’s a few of us going,” he stuffed his hands in his pockets and you looked up at him in surprise. His eyes widened and he quickly corrected himself, “Remus is going too, I’m not asking you to come with me.”
You smirked a little at his nervous expression, “sure, as long as Remus is going to be there.”
Sirius rolled his eyes as he backed out of the room, “see you later.”
The weather was still glorious when you went to go and meet Remus and Sirius in the Quidditch stands. Remus greeted you with a beaming smile and a hug while Sirius merely greeted you with a nod of his head.
“Did I miss anything?” you asked and Remus shook his head.
“No, it’s just started,” he pointed at the pitch with an excited look on his face and you saw all the hopefuls lined up.
It was clear from the beginning that Harry was the best choice for a seeker but of course you knew that everyone had to have a fair chance. A couple of times you caught your brother’s eye and offered him a wave which he didn’t return. You frowned but you thought nothing of it. By the end of the trials, it was abundantly clear that Gryffindor had a formidable team. When James walked up to where you were sitting in the stands you were about to congratulate him but stopped short when you saw the expression on his face. He had a face like thunder.
“and, what’s up with you?” Sirius laughed.
James ignored his best friend, instead he turned to glare at you, “how could you not tell me about Harry’s fight? It’s spreading through the school like wildfire, Y/N.”
James already seemed pissed off so you decided to tell him the truth, “he didn’t want me to,” James scoffed, “he was worried about what you would say! You need to talk to your son, James.”
James groaned as he rubbed a hand over his face, “you had no right to keep this from me, Harry is my son. Maybe if you had children of your own you would understand.”
James’ words were like a blade to your heart and they were almost unforgivable. Almost.
“James!” Remus scolded.
“Prongs, don’t speak to Y/N like that!”
“Shut up, Sirius,” you huffed and you could see the hurt in his eyes which you chose to ignore as you got up from your seat, squeezed past the boys and disappeared into the castle.
You took a drag of your cigarette as you leaned on the railings of the Astronomy Tower with a sigh. You were so lost in your thoughts that you didn’t hear the gentle footsteps. That’s why you were startled when you heard a voice from the doorway.
“When did you start smoking?”
You laughed as you glanced over your shoulder at Remus, “are you kidding, I lived in Paris for over 10 years, there’s more cigarette smoke in that city than oxygen,” you laughed again but it fell flat as Remus came to stand next to you.
“Your eyes are red,” Remus sighed as he reached out and touched the red skin, making you wince and he gave you an apologetic look.
“Wow, nothing gets past you, does it Remus?”
Remus rolled his eyes at your sarcasm, “James didn’t mean it you know.”
“He did, I suppose that it wasn’t entirely his fault.”
“Maybe you should tell him abo- “you cut Remus off before he could even finish the sentence.
“What good would that do now?” you cupped Remus’ cheek, your nail gently running across one of his scars, “oh, sweet Remus, if you hadn’t been there to see it you wouldn’t know either. No one would know.”
Remus swallowed as he looked away from you, “Sirius is a good man, he means well.”
“I imagine that he does but I’ll never forgive him, I blame him for what happened Remus.”
“I know you do,” Remus sighed.

Chapter One
As Sirius walked up to the London pub he spotted his best friends and his godson sitting in the beer garden. He quickly put out his cigarette as he walked up to join them, it was Harry who spotted him first.
“Hi, Sirius” he grinned he was due to start his second year at Hogwarts, he couldn’t quite believe how quick Harry had grown up.
“Hey, little man.”
“Nice of you to finally join us,” Lily laughed but slid a glass of fire whiskey across to him all the same.
“Sorry, sorry,” he mumbled, holding up his hands in defence, “Barty and Malfoy were spouting their usual shit. Sorry, Harry,” he added as Remus tutted but Harry looked delighted.
“You coming for dinner tomorrow, mate?” James asked but before Sirius could answer, Lily smirked.
“Of course he is, he eats good when we cook.”
Sirius rolled his eyes, “hey, I cook!”
“Heating up a pot noodle doesn’t count, Sirius,” Remus laughed.
Sirius clutched at his heart as he looked at Remus in betrayal, “so, now you’re ganging up on me, huh?” he shook his head as he glanced at Harry, “sometimes, I think you’re the only one who truly likes me, Harry.”
“I’ve got your back, Uncle Sirius.”
Sirius clapped Harry on the back, “my man! Anything in particular you want me to bring?” Sirius asked as he sipped his fire whiskey.
“Yeah, your best behaviour. Y/N is coming, she’s moving back home,” James said smirking as Sirius choked on his drink.
“She’s coming back?” he asked, his voice sounding strange and high pitched before he cleared his throat.
Y/N Potter had been in France practically since she left Hogwarts, she had been teaching Potions over there. She had been in Regulus’ year.
“Sirius had a crush on Aunt Y/N in school, Harry,” Remus smirked as Harry burst out laughing.
“Shut up, Remus.”
“Why didn’t you ask her out?”
“Are you messing? Your dad would have killed me,” he nodded over at James who narrowed his eyes at his best mate and he pushed his glasses up his nose.
“Hey, don’t blame this on me! You had 5 years to ask her out before she started dating Malfoy.”
“Aunt Y/N went out with Draco Malfoy’s dad? Ugh, embarrassing.”
Sirius rolled his eyes and drained the rest of his glass, the ice clinking against his teeth, “when you’ve all stopped taking the piss, just let me know,” he got up from his seat and walked into the pub, his friend’s laughter following him all the way to the bar.
-------------------
So, Aunt Y/N, does it feel weird to be back home?” Harry asked as you helped Lily set the table for dinner. He was wearing the Quidditch robes that you’d brought him from France.
“A little,” you admitted but you knew it would feel weirder once you started at Hogwarts again and seeing people you hadn’t seen for over 10 years. When you had come home in the past it was always for a very fleeting moment and you hadn’t seen anyone other than, James, Lily and Harry, “it will be even weirder having to share the post of Potions Master with Snivellus,” you shuddered and Harry laughed at the old nickname.
“I’m glad your teaching my class this year.”
“Me too, sweetie,” you smiled.
Before you could say anything further the doorbell rang and you glanced over at Lily as you offered to get the door as she finished up in the kitchen. She thanked you as you walked through the lounge and pulled open the door. You raised an eyebrow as you leaned your hip against the doorframe.
Sirius took his sunglasses off and you realised that age had only made him more handsome, “Y/N,”
“Hi Sirius.”
“You um, you’re looking well, heard you’re teaching at Hogwarts this year.”
“Yeah, it’s common knowledge,” you felt a slight twinge of guilt as he swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat.
“Right.”
“Sirius! How lovely to see you, come on in,” Lily grinned as she walked up behind you, you stepped aside so he could step over the threshold and give Lily a hug.
When he had gone through to the living room, Lily glanced at you and whispered, “please, be nice to him.”
You glared at your best friend, “I know it’s been twelve years but I still can’t believe you made the both of us Harry’s god parents.”
Lily shrugged, “maybe you guys can get god married and go on a goddy moon,” she laughed around her glass of red wine and you shook your head but you were still amused.
“You are delirious.”
Dinner was delicious, you had missed Lily’s cooking and you had missed the great company, it would be good to be at Hogwarts this year. You would miss France but Hogwarts would always be your home.
“It’ll be exciting this year, with you four being back at Hogwarts together.”
Your head shot up at Lily’s words, a forkful of pasta an inch away from your open mouth. You knew that James would be teaching Quidditch sessions once a week, and you knew that Remus would be teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts. You glanced over at Sirius who raised one eyebrow at you. He picked up his bottle of beer by the neck with his thumb and index finger before he took a swig of it.
“Reviving the famous duelling club aren’t I? In case any more dark wizards come calling.”
“Ah,” you ate the forkful of pasta and chewed it while you smirked over at Sirius, “you have fond memories of me kicking your arse have you?”
“Oh, Y/N. You have no idea,” you laughed at Sirius and shook your head.
You didn’t dislike Sirius, not in the slightest actually but the cocky attitude he had adopted in school had always pissed you off. It seemed as though he hadn’t really changed.
“Can you two stop flirting? It’s putting me off my Butterbeer,” Harry shuddered.
James looked at his son with his mouth open slightly, “Harry you’ve got pumpkin juice in a Butterbeer tankard.”
Harry scowled at his dad, “anything can be Butterbeer if you just believe.”
You snickered, “so, he doesn’t make sense, just like his father. And kid, I would rather drop dead before flirting with him,” you sneered at Sirius as you got up and cleared the plates.
You were halfway through telling your seventh years about the Draught of Living Death when the doors banged open, two pretty seventh year Slytherins walked in giggling to each other.
You frowned and crossed your arms as you stopped the lecture, “er girls. Where have we been?”
The girls looked at you, guilt embedded in their features, “we’re sorry. We went to the duelling club over lunch and I suppose we got a bit carried away,” they giggled, it was like a blast from the past.
Your jaw clenched, “sit down girls.”
“You’re not going to take house points from us?” the girls looked at each other and then back at you with shock in their expressions.
“No, I’m not,” you sighed and the girls quickly hurried to their seats.
When it came to the end of the day you stalked through the hallway, hell bent on getting to the Defence Against the Dark Arts tower. You walked past Draco Malfoy who was too busy bullying some first year to notice you. You narrowed your eyes.
“Don’t you have somewhere to be, Mr Malfoy?”
He looked up at you with a sullen look, his pale eyes flashing with malice, “yes, Professor.”
“Then, I suggest you get there quickly, if I catch you again, I will be taking points from Slytherin.”
He scowled at you as he stalked down the corridor, he was so much like his father.
You stormed into his classroom, stopping as his head whipped in surprise and he took his reading glasses off as he stood up behind his desk. A smile graced his lips but it quickly fell when he looked at your expression, “what?”
“Is everything a joke to you? I thought you were 33, not three years old.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I need this job, I won’t have you ruin this for me, how am I supposed to help my students pass their classes if they’re spending so much time with you?”
He sighed as he leaned against the desk, “I told them to go to class, Y/N, it won’t happen again.”
You scoffed, “oh come on Sirius. You love being the centre of attention, you always have.”
Sirius shook his head and his eyes darkened as he stalked towards you, you walked back until your back hit the stone wall and he placed a hand at the side of your head. You glared up at him as his eyes scanned your face.
“Now, I don’t know what I’ve done to make you so hostile towards me but I’m not out to ruin anything for you. You’ve always had that idea in that pretty little head of yours.”
You scowled as you looked at his dark eyes, “just do your job. Let me do mine.”
“Fine.”
“Fine,” you repeated his words back to him as you pushed him away from you and stormed out of his classroom.
