What I think the show, and a lot of people who haven't read the books, miss about Dandelion and Geralt's relationship is that they aren't parallels, they're foils. They have diametrically opposed goals in life and philosophies and while yes, Dandelion will default to Geralt's belief system insofar as monsters, and Geralt will concede to let Dandelion lead in courtly situations, neither of them ever fully agree with each other and that's what their friendship is about. Philosophy. They debate constantly. They call each other out on perceived bullshit constantly. Dandelion is never afraid to call Geralt stupid and tell him exactly why he thinks so, and Geralt lets Dandelion's opinions effect him, much more than the average person. They would die for each other, have killed for each other, have stolen for each other, but there are a lot of things they fundamentally disagree on. Dandelion is the narrative vehicle we see Geralt's faults through, the lens of a common man with common, hedonistic goals, who wants to share in joy with Geralt, despite Geralt's stubborn insistence that he never know what joy is.

I do all of them in like "action way" like:
The dishes need a wash-wash (□)
Lets turn the lights off (×)
Brush your teeth (○)
Or
I just think like:
Oh, the sink is dirty (and I proceed to clean it without thinking)

So I was listening to the entire The Amazing Devil discography again (as you do) and I just had a horrible realization.
the last song on their last album, Ruin, aka the last song they've released is Inkpot Gods. the last line of Inkpot Gods is
If I don't make it back from where I've gone just know I loved you all along
thats The last line they've released. the last thing they said to us three years ago before they disappeared.
Im unwell.

I think my hot take on religions (yes plural) is that Jesus Christ was just Dionysus fucking around in the middle east.
Turn water into wine? Sure, that's like his main thing.
Walk on water? One of Dionysus powers is levitation.
The stunt of the coin inside a fish? Big D could teleport objects, people and himself between dimensions.
The cursing of the fig tree? Dion has control over plants.
The big resurrection moment? Bacchus (that's how the Romans called him) was associated as the god of harvest AND resurrection.
The healings and exorcisms could be psychological tricks, Dionysus could cause and cure madness.
And the big game he play was calling the Great God "Father".... like Zeus..... his actual father and God of Olympus.... the literal King of Gods.
This is just something I thought when I was at catholic school and having my "I want to know everything about Olympian gods" moment, don't take it too seriously.
#olympians#olympic gods#dyonisus#catholic#jesus christ#being queer and raised catholic is a funny experience#hot take?#maybe a hedcanon#hedcanon#please dont take this seriously

it's kinda an interesting choice to make the year jaskier is born the same as the year geralt first goes on the path
when geralt truly starts his life as a witcher, jaskier is born, almost like destiny knew that he would need that companion jaskier later would become
as we don't have specific birthdates for anyone but yennefer, i don't know this, but i like to think that jaskier is born when geralt takes his first step out of kaer morhen to start his first season on the path
geralt, 18yo, venturing out by himself for the first time and destiny knows he will need a friend and decides to grant him that
it's very poetic and i am sure jaskier would be able to write a grandiose epic about how their destinies are intertwined

Pankratz, J. A. aka. Master Bard Jaskier Vizconde de Lettenhove (1280). "My life from my father's point of view: Autobiography of Princess Cirrilla Fionna Elen Riannon, Cub of Cintra, Witcher, Heir of Nilfgaard, Wolf of Kaer Morhen, Surprise Daughter of The White Wolf Geralt of Rivia" ( 1st ed. ). The possibilities...
gently placing my hands on your shoulders as I tell you that Ciri has always been the main character of the Witcher. Maybe not the main character as some would view it because she isn't always there, but she is, yes, THEE main character. The story is about Ciri. Geralt is the point of view through which we see Ciri's story most of the time, because his understanding of the world and his love for Ciri as an adopted daughter shape how we approach and view her story. His view is paramount to understanding what is happening to her and why she makes the decisions that she does. Because Ciri is the main character. Geralt is just the perspective.

I finally watched The Sound of Music and like I get it now, I get it.
It’s a beautiful two hour love story of a strict man finally opening his heart again and then a fifty minute public service announcement to hate the nazis. Brilliant.
