i decided i could have a The Alchemy reread when i finished round 1 of exams because neuroscience and group study sessions just reminds me of them all studying

but now i'm a couple days from getting to reread and i am dying to get to read it :'((((

This is your reminder to follow your dreams no matter how much they scare you. A year ago today i was terrified about the future - waiting to find out if i passed step 1 of my boards, hated the sight of needles and blood (like genuinely thought i might have to drop out bc of it), very low confidence in all my clinical skills and knowledge. Fast forward to today and I have never been more certain that this is what I’m meant to be doing with my life. I spent the last year falling in love with medicine, overcoming every fear and obstacle that once seemed insurmountable. I get to spend my days learning not only how to save lives but how to support my patients (and their families) in the face of sometimes unfathomable tragedy. And I’m reminded every day never to take my health or this life for granted.

All that to say - it’s okay if you’re not sure about the path you’re headed down. It’s okay to wonder if you’re doing the right thing, to doubt yourself, to question your choices. Keep moving forward, one day at a time. It isn’t often easy, but I can promise you it’s almost always worth it.

here to yell about how much i love the alchemy - comfort fic for sure!!!!

in fact for a few weeks at the start of the semester me (a biochem student) had to go to a lecture theatre in the medical school (which happens to be in the local hospital) and it was so scary lol - but i kept sane but thinking about the alchemy characters in medical school every day

it makes my week every time i get a new update email and i just love them

(it also makes me so happy that a fic i've been following for a long time through a crazy life change has remained a source of such happiness when fandom and fics haven't always been a good thing to me}

wip wednesday (sort of)

So I got tagged by @violencelittlething to share five lines from an upcoming fic. Please enjoy the first five lines of chapter 10 of the alchemy :)

Xaden Riorson had never been a particularly patient person. Not in life or love, work or play. It was a major reason why he loved trauma surgery so much - no sitting around waiting for lab results or imaging or blood cultures. The patients came dying, you stopped them from dying, then promptly handed them off to more patient doctors so that you could save the next person who was dying. And in today's world, somebody was always dying.

Good thing you didn't tag a number higher than 5 because this is in fact all I have written right now. Writing is unfortunately taking a backseat to studying until after my next shelf in a week!

Also, all three of my fic-writing internet friends have already partaken in this trend soooo....tagging anyone who sees this and wants to be friends - four!
