Why did SJM make nymphs to be lesser fae?Nymphs are not faeries at all,they are different creatures.They come from greek mythology,where they were personifications of nature that protected rivers,fountains,forests,mountains etc.They were minor deities,but only compared to the all powerful Olympian Gods.Acotar faeries are definitely not as powerful as gods and definitely not immortal in the way a god is.There were shrines dedicated to Nymphs in Ancient Greece,they were definitely not lesser creatures,in fact often they followed the Olympians,especially Aphrodite,Artemis and Dionysus.They also often mated with them and gave birth to powerful children.Hermes for example is the son of Zeus and the nymph,Maia.

There are things consistent with nymph mythology,like how Gwyn's mother can't be confined in a house,because nymphs belonged to and protected nature or even how her grandmother seduced a High Fae,because nymphs were considered as extremely beautiful, hypersexual females(hence the term nymphomaniac),but SJM made them way too insignificant and powerless.People in ancient times worshipped them as benevolent deities,built shrines for them and took care not to anger them e.g by cutting trees.They didn't consider them powerless.

does anyone else feel like the acotar series is lacking the FAE feeling? like. Book one has it a MILLION percent, yes. the Spring Court is RIFE with Fae Elements. The CoN does too in the dark elegant Fae Way but the rest? it really doesn't tbh. they all just Feel like Immortals, and I think that's such a vast difference between acotar and tog bec in tog they're so painfully FAE, right down to the pointy ears and canines and Not Human Morals

but hey maybe I'm just a Faerie Snob bec that's something I deeply, deeply enjoy in Holly Blacks books. They're SO undeniably fae but acotar just,,, isn't. idk

This blondie was on his way to becoming a prince OC in my story I’m developing but then @copypastus & @thrumugnyr ‘s art have collectively converted me to the dark side . I also got seduced on TikTok by the idea/theory that Tamlin and Rhysand were lovers or intimate in some way in the past. It’s just such a fun idea to entertain 👀🙈. Outside of that theory I thought this would’ve been a fun spin on the scene in the first book. Maybe I’ll draw Lucien in a similar position?

"Nesta favors Elain"

Everyone favors Elain! And most of all Feyre.

If you want to point the finger at Nesta, don't use that argument. Don't complain about how differently Nesta treats her sisters because in reality, Feyre might be worse.

“Elain sometimes just… didn’t grasp things. It wasn’t meanness that kept her from offering to help; it simply never occurred to her that she might be capable of getting her hands dirty.” (ACOTAR, ch.2) Elain gets excuses and most importantly, is never even asked to help for anything. If Feyre is going to teach someone archery, it's going to be Nesta. She needs wood to be chopped, it's going to be Nesta.

When Lucien accompanied her back to the Night Court, he asked her about Elain and says he wants to see if she's worth fighting for. (To each their own opinion on the matter). Feyre doesn't respond but thinks so. Later on, when Cassian flies her to the House of Wind and they talk about Nesta and how he comes to see her every other day, Feyre asks : “Why do you bother, Cassian?” Elain is worth it but Nesta isn't?

When the sisters are moved to the townhouse, rooms have to be picked. “And a third for Lucien — on our side of the hall. Well away from Elain’s.” (ACOWAR, ch.24) Because Elain staying away from her mate whom she hasn't yet said she wants nothing to with is fine and perfectly understandable. But when Nesta says over and over and over again how she wants nothing to do with Cassian, she's just going to have to suck it up and be locked in a house with him.

Rhys, being true to himself, tells Feyre the bond between Elain and Lucien can be used to ensure his loyalty. “I don’t like that Elain is a pawn in this.” (Feyre in ACOWAR, ch.18) But using Nesta as a pawn to ensure another Vanserra's loyalty, though... As a matter of fact, when dancing with Eris is proposed she even says : “Elain doesn’t go near him.” (ch.55)

In ACOSF, after we learn that Elain will try to find the Trove if Nesta doesn't, Feyre says : “It wasn’t an easy choice for me to ask Elain to endanger herself like this.” (ch.21) But asking Nesta is easy, right? It's been like this forever after all. Feyre was never going to ask Elain to tell her story to the High Lords. Poor thing was depressed. But asking Nesta to put herself in the worst danger possible, even though she was destroying herself just two weeks ago, even though she si still depressed and hurting... Feyre doesn't hesitate then.

Yes, Nesta has her faults. Yes, Nesta has said mean things to her sister. But if we look at the text, at the amount of times Feyre has been unkind to her sister, you'll realize that she is much worse.

wondering if feyre would've reacted differently if she'd found nesta playing cards at Rita's instead of the "seedy tavern" feyre judged to be beneath her. she even catches herself before almost openly insulting the place, not wanting to offend her subjects. the whole situation is so odd because sjm makes a point to mention how much time the inner circle spends out clubbing and drinking and gambling. it makes the criticism of nesta's behavior that much more ridiculous—and also makes it hard not to assume it really is just about the money she's spending.

Feyre watches Cassian and her sister share a kiss on the verge of death. Then, she sees him gifting lingerie to Morrigan and expects Nesta to be lovey-dovey to this guy..?

I’m always surprised that when people say that Feyre stopped actually caring about poor people, it’s met with “but she hosts free art classes” or “she literally has charities and organizations to help rebuild Velaris”

Art classes are a luxury, free or not. Do you really think poor people or those struggling to find adequate housing have the time to give a fuck about painting eyes?

And as for the charities, I would hope so… that’s kinda your whole job as being a High Lord/lady… maintaining your court?

She and Rhysand think that the “seedy tavern”, that exists in their own court mind you, is beneath them, and is almost exclusively friends with the elites.

We see time and time again, people who were once poor or in need pulling up the ladder or no longer caring for others like them once they do get rich/what they need. And regardless, even when Feyre was poor, she never had the mentality of a woman in poverty - but that’s a different gripe.

Imagine the thing that brings you the most joy used to make you horrified and miserable only for SJM to completely ignore it and then use that same paint to have Rhys paint on feyre the first time they have sex and Feyre NOT have a weird relationship with her craft as a painter
