some backstory to my oc, damian...

childhood:

born out of wedlock to a young mother and addict father

his mother, being too young and busy with college to take care of him, turned him over to his grandmother

grew up poor as dirt, but thanks to scholarships and financial help from wealthier extended family, was able to go to private catholic school for most of his life

went to mass every sunday without fail, was in church choir for most of his childhood

learned to read early, could often be found reading gospel stories to other kids at children’s liturgy

teen years:

struggled with authority, often talking back to teachers. but not his grandma. never his grandma.

got into trouble frequently, but was always able to come up with some sort of justification for it

openly questioned the church’s teachings, but found himself unable to abandon the faith he grew up with

college years:

earned a scholarship to a jesuit university, where he began to study theology and philosophy

after making a name for himself as a troublesome yet brilliant student, he was approached by a vatican official posing as a visiting lecturer, who invited him to a "postgraduate opportunity" in rome

he was flown out to vatican city for "academic research" only to be offered a place in section xiii

while he was initially reluctant to join, he eventually agreed

when people like your OCs it is truly one of the best feelings ever. but when they also UNDERSTAND your OCs??? When they say or do something that just makes you go "oh they get it." UNBEATABLE.
