This moment right here… they’re both feeling a lot of complicated emotions right now. Blitzo’s on the defensive after being singled out, and glances up to Stolas, clearly feeling pretty jaded. Meanwhile, being reminded of Stella and Octavia (when the affair with Blitzo has caused considerable strife at home) right after Verosika and Fizz tear the guy down… Stolas isn’t really sure how to feel (or enjoy being put on the spot like that, for that matter) and just buries his face in the menu.
Blitzo seems to take that as Stolas being embarrassed to be around him, even though he was eager to go on the date and be seen in public before- it reinforces what Blitzo thought already, ‘he only wants me as a toy, not as a partner’. His emotions are already getting rubbed raw from seeing M&M be so affectionate on top of his old friend and Verosika hammering in his worst traits, so thinking Stolas doesn’t want to be around him either feeds right back into his self-loathing that keeps his walls up.
