A small gasp of horror at the injuries slipped free from her chest, why anyone would want to hurt such a beautiful being was beyond her to comprehend. The sadness was overwhelming but she pushed through. Elisa gestured to the still bleeding wounds, before signing slowly

‘Hurts?’

After a pause she looked around to see if there was anything at all that could be used to help him. Even if it was something small, it would be too risky for her to try and make it back to her cart to gather towels or wrappings of any sort. It was so infuriating to be unable to help him... for the first time she truly felt powerless.

The humans who liked to prod at him and poke him with sharp objects had finally put the Asset back into his tank. The collar around his neck rubbed painfully at his gills, and he could feel his newest wounds feeding his blood into the water.

This was the time were the Asset was most excited. The girl- Elisa- came in to see him around this time. She was such a sweet human, and he adored her. So, he would peek his head up from the water every now and then to look around for her, though so far he was unlucky in his search. Maybe she would come soon? He hoped so.

It had taken longer than usual to get her morning rotation cleaned up and organized. By the time she’d been able to clock out for lunch Elisa had to come up with an excuse as to why she wasn’t eating with Zelda. Thankfully Brewster managed to be a blessing in disguise, coaxing her friend out for a quick smoke. Which allowed the younger woman to cautiously yet hastily make her way to where he was being kept. 

The paper lunch bag hugged tight against her chest, as a smile grew with each step closer. Finally once she managed to slip in without being noticed, Elisa hurried over to sit beside the pool. Her excitement went cold at the obvious sight of red in the water. Terrified as to the extent of his injuries she gave a tap at the waters surface, hoping it would get his attention.

She typically loved when it rained... but now it was beyond just a passing fancy. They needed the heavens to pour down with such unapologetic severity, that way he could finally be free once more.

Elisa felt a sharp pang of sorrow, not ready to say goodbye to the being who’d shared so much with her. She’d been so content with her life before he’d entered the picture, and now she never wanted to go back.
