Two days ago my husband said "...and he was pissed" and I said "don't say that around the kids!" so he corrected himself to "and he was liquid angry" and I've been laughing since

i'm in an era
the two i was talking about in this post. mostly wanting to draw some decoratively patterned kobolds. both brand types ended up being paler than base skin just because that's how i did the two skintone gradients (kettle's is hot = pale, lucky's is hot = dark). but anyway they have different methods of application which you can probably infer from the names
skin colour shifts slowly up and down the gradient in response to temperature fluctuation in the skin. the shift is slow enough that it takes many applications of a warm or cold brand for it to leave much of a mark. the effect ends up being like if you drew on someone's skin with sun cream before they went sunbathing. short periods of extreme temperature rise or fall wouldn't produce a colour change so the brands are not so hot or cold that they are painful, but they are uncomfortable as they must be left in place for a couple of hours. it takes a few weeks for them to fade again so if you want to keep your cool new markings you need to schedule regular sessions with brand artists. the branding material is metal which is warmed in a fire or kept on ice. For patterns that extend over multiple body parts (like Kettle's flames up her neck), modular blocks are used.
being able to sit around doing nothing for hours while the pattern artist applies the blocks is a class marker so the larger the pattern = the better off you are.
the flame motif is extremely popular and almost mandatory for priestesses or anyone in communion with a dragon, and obviously it has to be a hot brand. but most brands are just like tattoos - they can be meaningful or random or chosen purely on aesthetic value. in this particular colony most kobolds have at least one.

I'm kind of busy with upcoming events and client work but I have been doing a chill Scarlet Nuzlocke run on the side. Here are some sketches of the Pokémon I've caught so far!
The shiny Dunsparce is a gift replaced my starter (I wanted to try a no-starter run) but the Starly is just a random shiny I ran into.
Find me and my art elsewhere!

I love how these are from an Unreality subreddit but to my eye they just read like regular Tumblr shitposts. Did we cross-pollinate or something

Sandwings, Draco arenicolus
My lovely babies. Mostly the same as my original ones, but a bit more armored like an armadillo. Also new chin spikes and a forward facing nose spike for funsies. They're well built for walking long distances and do so quite regularly, and have good low-light vision, as walking during the night is much less energy-taxing than flying during the day. Their flat feet and blunt claws help with this as well.
This Sandwing is doing a very good example of a defensive posture, as Sandwing bellies are much less armored than their backs, they lower themselves and may even flatten themselves entirely when engaging in a fight.
Also I will be continuing my long-eared Sandwing propaganda and no one can stop me :)
