I just can't stand people even talking about JKR anymore in a negative light. I don't care whatever bad she has actually done or said COULD NEVER, EVER compare to how much people vilify her for it. Literal, actual men committing actual atrocities (rape, murder, pedophilia, bestiality, etc) with actual insane views (racists, fascists, pedophiles, etc) WOULD NEVER face even 1/16th of the hatred and public persecution this woman has received. THIS WOMAN is a DV survivor, she came from an underprivileged background, she was a single mother, she worked for every cent she has and she donates TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to help other women and children and disabled people all around the world. I literally cannot physically stand seeing hatred toward her anymore. I can't stand the accusations of racism, the lumping her in with billionaires like Bezos/Musk/Zuckerberg despite the tens of millions of dollars she has given to charity ever since she became successful, the framing her as unintelligent or a person with bad morals despite all she has accomplished in her works and all the good she does for the underprivileged, the death threats, the rape threats, etc. I'm blocking everyone and everything that shits on her atp. I am SICK of seeing women raked over the coals for something that's not even in the same universe as the least evil thing any random man off the street has ever done in his life.

Remember how officials and public figures forced your loved ones to die alone, locked you in your home for months or years, divided your family and friends, kept your kids out of school, closed your churches, forced you to wear a pointless face diaper, filled skate parks with sand, closed playgrounds, prevented people from buying seeds at the store, shut down your business, mandated you take a vaccine that didn't do what they said it did and FIRED you if you didn't take it, and generally absolutely RUINED the last two years of your life because they were scared of a virus?

I might cause controversy here, but I had no idea about this. I intuitively didn't decry circuses with animals for a reason. Slaughterhouses and poaching will always be worse. I used to be big on animal rights, but I noticed many people for whatever reason, refuse to be vegan (hell, even some feminists decry lumping animal rights with human women's rights, for example here: https://www.tumblr.com/whitebluewhitefem/771298552972525569/why-is-it-a-controversial-take-to-say-women?source=share), refuse to stop poaching, care about animal rights, only uttering empty words and I don't care anymore about being hated for saying that YES, I used to go to the circuses with animals as a child in Poland, back in 2000s. The problem is that most animal rights activists who hate animals in circuses, don't care about making circus animals have good conditions there. They wouldn't bat an eye about local populations killing off their wild animals as well. Circuses were underfinanced most of the times, hence why it appeared that animals were abused there (aside from legitimately sadistic animal trainers). I believe some of the tricks are simply exercise for those animals. I also was quasi-forced to attend the physical education, at school but it was apparently for my own health. Also, please read dr. Marthe Kiley-Worthington's report on circus animals. PETA also loves sexualizing women and it's bizarre as well. Animals in many countries are better treated than women, for some reason

I’ve talked before on the blog about how legislation written by the animal rights world tends to pass without being critically examined by people who understand the animal management industry, and that as a result it often ends up doing things it’s supporters have no idea about. This new law in New Jersey is a perfect example of exactly what it looks like when nobody pays attention to the actual text of proposed animal protection laws. 

Nosey’s Law is named for a circus elephant that animal rights groups have been trying to remove from her owners for years (she was confiscated this fall on animal cruelty charges by animal control officers in Alabama, and currently resides at The Elephant Sanctuary, awaiting the judge’s ruling). However, what looks like a law to prohibit the use of elephants and other wild animals in circuses… also shuts down a hell of a lot of other things. 

By defining "performance" as “any animal act, carnival, circus, display, exhibition, exposition, fair, parade, petting zoo, presentation, public showing, race, ride, trade show, or similar undertaking in which animals perform tricks, give rides, or participate as accompaniments for the entertainment, amusement, or benefit of a live audience,” and “traveling animal act” as “any performance which requires an animal to be transported to or from the location of the performance in a mobile or traveling housing facility,“ it is now illegal for any Class C exhibitors in NJ whose business is conducted in a different location from where their animals live to operate. If your business involved taking an exotic or native animal species from the site where it is housed to a different location, and the animal participates in any type of presentation or exhibition, that’s now against the law. Period. No exemptions exist for the bill. 

What this means is that a ton of small education and outreach businesses are dinged. It’s now illegal for exotic pet rescues to do classroom programs with reptiles, or for wildlife rehabilitation groups to do demonstrations at events with their unreleasable birds. Those types of programs are often some of the earliest formative memories children have of wild animals, and are crucial for helping people who might not have the ability to visit a zoo learn about and fall in love with wild animals. 

No matter what your feelings are on the use of elephants in entertainment, it’s important to only support laws like this one when they’re written accurately. The wide-ranging definitions in this bill mean it effects far more animals and animal-related businesses than the public understood, and it is going to damage things that have no relation to the circus and restrict education opportunities for people across the entire state - it was passed quickly and without critical examination simply because the concept evoked in the bill’s name pulled on people’s heartstrings.

the reason patriarchal religions oppress women is to convince men to join. many (almost all) religions feature female subordination, usually to her father, spouse, and often, the larger community. this is by design. why wouldn't men join religions where they are promised a domestic servant?

patriarchal religion essentially promises men their own kingdom to lord over, held accountable to a God who does not exist. in fundamentalist religious circles, the father is literally said to have "dominion" over his wife/home/family.

now consider that the two most popular religions in the world are also pro-state violence -especially when the state is theocratic (or can be claimed to be theocratic, reasonably or unreasonably), and especially when the violence is aimed at women.

For every man a state, for every man a punching bag.
