Cakey foundation 😔

Today is a very special day because I just finished an 8-day training course! I thought it would be the perfect time to try out my new foundation, even though I picked the wrong shade (oops!). I've raved about this product for years, as it gives a dewy, bright complexion. I remember it looking so good on my mom's mature skin as well.

This time, AVON's Perfect Radiance Liquid Foundation has let me down. To be fair, I made some mistakes: the shade I purchased was too light, and I may have sprayed Focallure setting spray too close to my face—something I have never had an issue with when using other foundation brands. I wish I were simply making excuses for the foundation I have loved.

Important Tips:

AVON offers different shade ranges for each product and brand, which means you can't solely rely on the shade name, code, or magazine swatches. I often find myself purchasing a shade that ends up being too light or too dark. Fortunately, since I do makeup for others, I have other foundations that I can mix and match.

This specific foundation is the lightest among AVON's options, so unless you have very fair skin, I recommend trying Medium Wheat. While I'm already quite fair, I can't use this foundation when I have a tan.

When applying, use only a small amount. If the foundation cakes up, consider skipping the setting spray. Also, if you plan on using additional sun protection, avoid using sunscreen, as it may react poorly with this foundation. I’m not sure if they have changed the formula, but I didn't encounter this issue in the past. Today, I experienced creasing and melting of the product on my neck due to sweat, where I had only used a setting powder. You can imagine my dismay when I noticed it after I got home!

Verdict: I want to give it another chance! I will determine the best way to use it and test it in the Philippines' hot and humid weather.  For its price, I am only glad that it's filled with skincare ingredients, SPF 50, and has good light coverage.

I went to Avon to get the best Mother's Day gift! I also treated myself to some goodies 😛. Despite trying many foundations, Avon's Radiance Foundation with Glutathione remains my go-to. It offers full coverage without feeling heavy. It also has SPF 50, eliminating the need for a separate sunscreen. However, their shade range is limited, with only 3 options suitable for fair skin. Nude is the darkest shade, which happens to be my best match.

I also enjoyed swatching their best-selling Ultra Creamy lipstick. Sorry, I could only recall my favorites!

Update: So far, using the clay mask once a week, followed up with a hydrating mask has calmed my pimples. The cleansing oil is also effective in getting rid of "ripe" blackheads. Although, I still prefer the ones that dissolves-in-water type. Avon Nutraffects used to have one and it was so good!

Waxing Tips (they don't tell you 🤫)

I have been waxing since I was 16. I don't do it professionally, but I have burned and bled enough to think I should share with you what I have learned.

1. The pros and cons of both methods are: Hot wax: opens the pores and pulls the roots better leading to faster recovery and less to no bleeding. This also prevents ingrown hairs. However, most will agree that is more painful and messy. Inexperience in eyeing wax temperature can burn your skin.

Cold wax: the method for beginners/low pain tolerance as this is just like pulling scotch tape from the skin. It's also so quick to get done by a professional. The biggest disadvantage is the high risk of getting ingrown and infection if not done properly. It's also harder to find a product with the right consistency as it melts easily on warm skin or room temperatures.

2. You need a kit! Always use cornstarch powder on the skin so the hot or cold wax doesn't stick and irritate your skin. Rubber gloves should be worn to protect your hands and nails. Use cotton wax strips to easily peel off the wax.

3. Pick a brand with simple natural ingredients. I like the ones with honey, aloe vera and beeswax (for hot wax).

I hope I was able to help you, DIY girlies. Compared to shaving and epilating, I find hot waxing the most relaxing hair removal method. What about you?

The shade Bow is described as "a soft berry color" which means this is a mauve. This perfect MLBB shade will suit a wide range of skin tones. The consistency upon application is very buttery and dries matte. Unfortunately, it can crack and be erased if you eat oily food. I had to reapply it after eating carbonara. Superfine Line Retractable Eyebrow Pencil

I got the shade in Mocha which is the perfect neutral shade of brown. I hate it when brown pencils are too reddish. It's not too dark and therefore buildable. This will compliment any hair color, I tell you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lifesaver masks 😌✨

Ever since the lockdown, I have noticed that almost everyone I know are having breakouts. As someone who is also suffering from hormonal imbalance, it was my struggle too. Aside from getting hormonal treatment, my skin got better when I discovered these masks from AVON. They were able to address my concerns which are: dry and dull skin, blackheads and pimples.

I have yet to finalize my facial cleanser, toner and moisturizer, but these two will stay in my stash for a while. The Blemish Clearing Jelly Mask contains kaolin and salicylic acid, and it works well on my blemishes, while the Insta-Cool Aloe Vera Mask refreshes and moisturizes my skin. Here is my schedule for using them:

Tuesday - jelly mask + aloe vera

Thursday - aloe vera

Saturday - jelly mask + aloe vera

On the nights when I use both, I use the jelly mask first, rinse it and apply the aloe vera mask. I leave it on my skin overnight. They both get ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I finally got a hold of AVON True Tri-phase Elixir! 🤩

I am so excited to use this tomorrow morning. I can't use it at night since I am currently using a tea tree-based anti-acne treatment. Their ingredients might clash and worsen my breakouts. I'll post a before and after pictures for this review. Btw, the key ingredients of this serum/beauty oil are: Sunflower oil, Green Tea, Vitamin E, Sweet Almond Oil, Chia Seed Extract, Beta-carotene, Salicylic Acid

My newest obsession: A MOSQUITO REPELLENT.

Why am I obssessed with a mosquito repellent, you may ask? First of all it works as advertised, second it tames my chicken skin and third, it smells great!

I am always looking forward to applying this very moisturizing concoction at night because it feels like a I am giving myself a DIY spa 💆. It contains: sunflower oil, soybean oil, citronella essential oil (of course!), Orange peel essential oil (yum yum) and eucalyptus essential oil. Today, I decided to wash my make-up brushes. A schoolmate of mine taught me to use a bit of SHAMPOO and WATER. This will gently clean the bristles and keep their softness too. After rinsing, I would sun dry them.

Objectives: » Aloe Vera - moisturiser night gel mask that may help dry up my pimples; contains no alcohol. » Lavender Toner - it has THE WITCH HAZEL which is good for large pores, oily face and blackheads. This ingredient is known as the best natural astringent. Unfortunately, I read “t-butyl alcohol”. Take note that good alcohols are cetyl, cetearyl,stearyl, oleyl etc.

Update: The toner was okay. I did not see any visible changes but at least, it did not make things worse. It’s very mild and so, I recommend this for those who do not have any skin issue. But the aloe vera one was soooo good. I highly recommend it.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
