”I love you so much that it hurts but you deserve so much better than me.”
Summary: Malon forces Sprite to confess his love towards her.
CW: Confessing love, punching, being protective, bit of hurt feelings, not having too good self-esteem
The story in AO3
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The first kiss
Sprite was nineteen and he knew perfectly well what he felt about the Lon-Lon Ranch’s owner’s daughter. In fact, he had been aware of his feelings for two years already but he didn’t allow himself to get lost into them. He kept reminding himself that he didn’t have the rights for such feelings for any of reason. Besides, he needed to keep in mind his main goal of getting to be old enough so he could save his big brother.
And yet, the hardworking ranch-hand couldn’t help the contradicting feelings as he watched other guys buzzing around Malon. He hated himself whenever the lady of the ranch said No to her suitors as he couldn’t help but feel relieved and bit happy about the other one’s rejection. And yet, he almost flinched each time as he realized how he was feeling about the other guy’s misfortune.
From time to time, Sprite just couldn’t stay out of the situations when he saw the other one being way too persistent. He fought to hold back his feelings as he just stormed into there and roughly yanked the guy backwards. “She said NO.” He growled while glaring at the year older male. “What part of that wasn’t clear to your messed up head?” He queried while trying not to snarl but his anger still slipped into his voice.
The man had stumbled few steps backwards before he caught his balance. At then he glared at the lithe guy standing between him and the daughter of the ranch’s owner. “Who the fuck are you? Her boyfriend?” He queried before already smirking.
Sprite flinched slightly and shook his head. “No. Just someone who works in here.” He replied as calmly as he could. “Take the word as it is and leave her alone.”
The older male snorted and his smirk stayed on his face. “So, not a boyfriend and not a brother.” He mused before turning his gaze into Malon. “How about you tell your one eyed watchdog to back off, darling.”
Sprite’s eye twitched at that one simple word and, without thinking, he punched the guy. The man gasped in shock and pain while stumbling to left. He crashed against the horse pen and managed to catch a hold of the metal wires to hold himself to his feet. “She’s not your darling.” The one eyed youngster snarled. “You’d need to be her boyfriend to be allowed such word and you are not such.”
The man stared at the one eyed male bit taken off guard before narrowing his gaze. “You just fucked up, pal. For that strike I’ll make sure you’ll be kicked out of here.” He growled before finally starting to leave the scene.
“Yeah, you go and tell that to my father, you jackass! See who’s going to be kicked out at then!” Malon screamed after him before snorting and shaking her head. Yet, before she was able to thank Sprite for his aid, the one eyed male already turned towards her.
“I’m sorry.” Sprite straight off said while looking uncertain and bit ashamed. “I… I-I know you could’ve handled him on your own. I just…” He bit stammered before shaking his head and turning away. “I’m sorry.”
Malon tilted her head to side in confusion. “For what? You did awesomely there to save me.” She told calmly while having been quite well baffled and excited to see Sprite standing up for her.
Sprite gave a short nervous chuckle and scratched the back of his head. “You…” He gulped once and shrugged a bit. “You didn’t really need me to save you. I know you could’ve punched him by yourself too.”
Malon just grinned and shrugged. “Yeah, well, my father doesn’t take it well if I punch every guy who tries to win me over.”
“I guess…” Sprite half whispered with a sigh while turning bit away from her. “It’s just self-defense. You got all the rights to keep unwanted people away from you.” He continued quietly while bit wondering if Talon was going to bark him down anyways for certainly having made the ranch lose a customer by his actions. This hadn’t been the first time and he knew it wouldn’t be the last one either. Part of him feared when Talon would have enough and do as the humiliated customers asked by finally kicking him out. And that quite well freaked him out as he had nowhere to go and he honestly didn’t want to go back to living at the streets.
“Sprite…” The lady of the ranch started bit worriedly while wanting to assure her friend about the situation.
Sprite shook his head to clear his thoughts and gave her his best wide smile. Yet, it wasn’t as genuine as he wished it to be. “Sorry for the intervening. I’ll get back to work now.” He half apologized before turning away and heading back to where he had been before this incident.
Malon watched him walk away while once again feeling her heart break a bit. She knew he’d stay as her friend but she couldn’t help but wish for something far more from him. Yet, she also knew she needed to face her father once again about wrong gone situation with a suitor. That was the reason she eventually sighed and left back inside to talk things through while knowing fully well that her father would never kick Sprite out from Lon-Lon Ranch. And it wasn’t just because he was the most hardworking employee they had.
The lady of the ranch took a deep breath before she entered the main house and took up her best confident stance she could. “Father!” She called firmly after having taken her shoes off and going into the kitchen from where she heard the talking coming from. She tried not to let her gaze harden as she heard the earlier suitor complaining and claiming things.
“My sweet girl.” Talon greeted his daughter as she entered the room. Malon didn’t even glance at the guy until having gotten next to her father. “Is it true that our dear lad has punched our customer?” The owner of the Lon-Lon Ranch inquired calmly.
“It is but— The red haired woman began but she was straight off cut short by her father. He had raised his hand to quiet her calmly and gently while having returned his notion back into the customer of the given situation.
“How many times did you say no to Mr. Fisher’s son before Sprite came over?” Talon inquired while keeping his gaze in the younger male. The current suitor bit flinched and slumped.
“Five times.” Malon answered calmly. “I was going to punch him myself if Sprite hadn’t come between.”
Talon nodded slowly with a small proud smile on his lips. “He is very protective lad.” He mused calmly while keeping his grin off of his face. “What we are going to do next is that you leave and return back to your family’s ranch. Talk with your old man about how to treat women and think through your actions. As long as I will not see you again at my ranch, I will not inform your father about this incident.” The young male gulped once and nodded.  “Good. Then…” The keeper of Lon-Lon Ranch spoke calmly and surprisingly gently while keeping short pause. “We certainly are clear with right actions here. Am I correct?”
“Yes, sir, absolutely.” The man replied while realizing to have been gained a reprimanding from different ranch’s owner. “Thank you… for the talk…” He almost mumbled before getting up and leaving.
Once the door had opened and closed to indicate their guest having left, Malon sighed and relaxed. “Thanks, dad.” She half whispered with a small smile.
“Anything for my girl.” Talon answered while pulling his daughter into a hug. He kissed the side of her head as he let her go. “And Sprite…?” He half queried.
The lady of the ranch sighed heavily and slumped. “Gone back to work as always after apologizing of having interfered.” Talon nodded slowly while bit frowning. “Why is he like that, dad? He’s been different for the past two years. Kinda odd. And I haven’t been able to get full answer from him.”
Talon’s gaze was sorrowfully fond one when he looked at Malon. “My young songbird, let me talk with Sprite. I’m sure the cows are missing your singing.” He gently kissed her forehead before showing her to come along. The young woman sighed a bit before nodding and following her father.
The owner of the ranch found Sprite from the horse stables. He was brushing the ranch’s hardest horse. The tall and muscular stallion didn’t let anyone else than Sprite close to him unless he didn’t have any of other choice in the matter. The horse didn’t harm anyone but he certainly made it clear to stay as far as possible. Even Malon had bit of hard time handling the stallion.
“I see you’re looking after Thunder there.” Talon called while keeping respectful distance to the horse. Sprite just nodded while having glanced at his boss of sorts. That was when Malon, having come from different door to another section of the stables, began to sing.
The keeper of the ranch grinned slightly when the younger male perked up and turned his notion towards the road to the area where the cows were at. Yet, very soon he blushed brightly and forced his notion right back into his work. “S-sorry…” Sprite stammered while trying to keep himself from trembling so he could keep his work as perfect as before.
“For what?” Talon queried while faking slight confusion. “Her voice is lovely to listen to.”
Sprite only blushed brighter and flinched before already slumping. “I… I-I won’t let that bother my working…” The moment the words left his mouth, he already wished the ground would’ve just swallowed him right then and there. Even though there was no sound of gasp or movement, he could feel Talon’s glare in him.
“What exactly do you mean by that?” The ranch’s keeper queried with surprisingly even voice. He hated how the youngster shrank before him.
“I… I-I didn’t… I-I mean that…” Sprite stammered while trying not to tremble as he desperately tried to find the right words. The lines that popped into his head were words he couldn’t say. He knew he would lose the only safe place he had if he opened his mouth and let them out. “She’s a distraction. I love her. I can’t concentrate into anything when she’s around.” There were even more going through his head but he squished them as swiftly as he could.
The young hardworking ranch hand took a deep breath and forced himself to stand straighter. “I care deeply about her but I’m just street trash. I don’t have rights to even think about anything more than simple friendship. Even that’s probably too much as I’m just a worker. I already owe so much to You for Your hospitality, the roof over my head and the food. I’m sorry. I’m sorry I intervened again between her and her suitors. It wasn’t my place to stand up like that. I’m sorry about the situation. I really am.” The words just tumbled out of him as he shut his eye while just letting the tears fall and the tremble be visible.
Talon stared silently at Sprite while feeling at loss of words. Yet, before he could come up with even one word to say, the younger male already continued with a desperate beg: “Please, don’t kick me out. Please. I… I-I don’t have anywhere to go. I’ll work harder. I swear. Please. I need this.”
“Sprite…” The ranch’s owner whispered sorrowfully.
Sprite hang his head and tried to dry his tears but he wasn’t capable of stopping them. “I…” He started before gulping but being unable to get the lump down from his throat. “I-I… Y-your daughter deserves better than someone like me.” He mumbled while just standing there and crying. He wanted to lean against Thunder but even that short distance felt too long. Besides, he feared he would just ruin the beautiful stallion if he searched comfort from him.
“And what if she wants you?” Talon inquired while fully wishing the youngster would’ve talked about his past. He had tried to get the boy to open up but the kid had just evaded his attempts and done his best to change the topic. There was so little he really knew of the youngster whom had been living at the ranch for eight years now. Yet, the way one treated the animals and other workers at the ranch told a lot about one’s character and he knew entirely well that this kid before him was one of the most trustworthy person he had ever met.
Sprite shook his head slowly. “I’m not worth of it.” He whispered with defeated voice.
Talon sighed heavily and shook his head in sorrow. “You’re worth far more than you give yourself credit for.” He told softly while feeling like just walking over and hugging the youngster. It hurt so much to see Sprite shake his head in denial. “I highly doubt your big brother would let you talk like that.” He continued bit firmer and felt slight grin tug at his lips as the young male flinched a bit and slumped while clearly blushing again. “He would certainly want you to be happy and to live your life.” He told before bit frowning as Sprite shook his head again.
Malon had quieted down when she heard her father talk with Sprite. This was first time she unintentionally listened to the two talk and it hurt her heart so much to hear how lowly her friend saw himself. And even more it hurt to hear how afraid Sprite sounded as he begged to be allowed to stay. She had always thought it had been a given that he had a home, a family with them. And yet, clearly, the youngster hadn’t allowed himself to accept what had been given to him.
The lady of the ranch couldn’t take it anymore and she quite well stormed out of the section where the cows were at. “How deeply do you care about me, Sprite?” Malon commanded to know as she approached the duo.
Sprite gasped and backed away by few steps before stumbling and falling onto the floor. He stared wide-eyed at the red haired woman while opening and closing his mouth without a word coming out. Talon was equally surprised of her having come over like that. “Malon…” He called with slight warning within his voice.
“Come on, Sprite, tell me.” Malon demanded while ignoring her father and just keeping her gaze in her friend.
Sprite stammered for a while longer before he shut his eyes tightly and slumped but also going bit rigid like waiting to be struck. “I…” He gulped and felt himself tremble as new tears came into his eyes. “I love you so much that it hurts but you deserve so much better than me.” He finally told with bit wavering voice. “I’ve been loving you for the past two years now but I know I can’t have you. I’m just a mess. A worthless piece of shit. I should be concentrating into getting my big brother out of that hellhole but I’m not old enough yet. I can’t save him. He’d be disappointed of me. I—“
Malon barely heard the ramble that followed the first two lines of Sprite’s answer. As he wasn’t looking at her while crying and bit trembling, she moved forward and crouched down. Without a warning, she shut him up by a kiss right to his lips.
Sprite fell entirely still while his eyes snapped open wide in pure shock. He barely was capable of breathing when the lady of the ranch pulled away with a bright blush. “I love you too, Sprite.” She whispered with a slight shy smile. Her friend just blinked few times in shock while his mind desperately tried to figure out what had just happened.
Malon gently rested her forehead against Sprite’s. “And for the record, Sprite, your big brother would certainly want you to be happy.” She mused gently with a small smile.
“Well then!” Talon exclaimed while quite loudly hitting his hands together and startled both of the youngsters to snap their gazes up into him. “You two are now a pair. And both of you have very good reasons to fend off any suitors from my dear darling’s back.” He continued while smiling widely at the duo. He had seen them both fall in love with each other with Sprite whole time backing away like he was afraid of the feeling and, most of all, like he wasn’t allowed such wonderful relationship. It had hurt him quite a much and he had tried to talk with Sprite to get him to confess to Malon. Yet, until now, he had been unsuccessful with his attempts. “I’ll leave you two to it.” He said before winking once and walking out of the stables while whistling so very happily.
Malon and Sprite were blushing and slowly turned their gazes back into each other. When they gained that eye contact, they both blushed brighter while straight off averting their gazes. Yet, they both were sporting a small smile on their lips.
“Always follow your heart, little one. It will lead you straight and true.”
Sprite jerked in shock as those two simple lines suddenly popped up into his mind. He stared at the floor with wide eyes for a moment before blinking few times until slowly calming down. As the advice his big brother had given him long ago finally made sense, he smiled fondly and returned his gaze into Malon.
The young woman had snapped her gaze into her now being boyfriend in worry when she had felt him jerk. She wanted to ask but she stayed silent with her frown deepening at the change in Sprite. Malon titled her head a bit in worry and confusion while silently asking what had just happened. Yet, this time it was her turn to be taken off guard.
Sprite leaned closer until he kissed her softly and lovingly while closing his eye. He could feel Malon first melt into the action before answering into it. When they finally broke apart for air, he was smiling bit shyly but fondly. “Wars told me to follow my heart.” He started quietly before raising his gaze up into hers. “And my heart is saying you’re the one.”
The red haired woman blushed brightly but she smiled shyly. She gently pulled Sprite into a tight hug and her smile widened as he returned the hold equally tightly and lovingly. “You are my heart’s chosen, Sprite. Been that for a long while.” She confessed quietly.

Story for prompt 6
“Hear me out before you shoot this idea down.”
Summary: The portal brings the Chain of nine Heroes into Wild’s era but it is not his time. As they’re close to Gerudo Town but no chance to enter the place, the Champion comes up with an idea which, oddly enough, Time isn’t shooting down straight off. Instead, the Chain’s leader is up for going by it this time around. And, before the one eyed male’s boys even realize it, that mischievous look is on his face as he pulls out the Stone Mask and vanishes from sight.
No CW this time around.

When they came through the portal, Wild’s Slate gave out its signal sound of having recognized the area. The Champion quickly took the machine into his hands and opened the map even though he already had good feeling of where they were. Yet, as he looked at the image, he frowned in confusion.
“Something wrong, Wild?” Twilight queried while coming next to his protégé to check on the map too. The rest of the Chain was just waiting for answers and their master archer’s directions of where to head to.
“Um…” The cook of the Heroes started and slowly raised his gaze up. He looked around once while feeling even more uncertain of the situation. “Well… T-this is my era… In a way…. Kinda…” He stammered without being able to explain.
“Before or after your time?” Time inquired calmly while coming closer. He didn’t check the Slate as his notion was fully in his boy.
“Um… I….” The Champion still stammered.
“It’s your time and yet it’s not. Familiar but still odd. So, check the map and tell me: Before or after your quest.” The Chain’s leader pointed out the obvious little notions calmly and gently.
Wild nodded firmly before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. After that he began to really check the map and see the differences what he knew his era to be like and how things were in the screen. “After. I still remember things having been pretty much the same before and after I woke up at the Shrine of Resurrection. Things have changed too much for the jump to future to be short.”
The one eyed male nodded while looking around. “In that case I’m pretty sure your counterpart’s not here anymore.” He observed before raising an eyebrow as he looked at the over hundred years old youngster. “Or, do you get knowledge or feelings of your counterpart?”
“No, no feelings or memories. Might be just me and my era instead of my counterpart’s.” The Champion slightly bit challenged and Time jus nodded in understanding. “Anyway, Gerudo Town’s closest. Don’t know how they’ll react to outsiders and males this time around but…” He shrugged with a slight grin. “…it’s the closest possible safe place in this area.”
“Alright, let’s get going then. Lead the way.” The oldest Link half commanded and Wild swiftly began to show the road towards the well protected Gerudo Town.
Soon enough they reached the place but the two guards swiftly crossed their spears to deny the entry from them. The Champion tried to talk things through and appeal into the matter of helping them. Yet, all his attempts only resulted into those spears being pointed at them.
Time snatched a hold of the cook’s tunic’s neck part and pulled him back. “Forgive our attempts. We shall leave now.” He apologized to the guards as calmly as he could before ushering his boys behind the closest wall. “Okay, so no entry. What now?” He half queried while thinking through how he had snuck around Gerudo back during his first quest.
The whole Chain was trying to figure out an answer to the problem. “Um… Hear me out before you shoot his idea down.” Wild started bit nervously while slightly slumping as everyone’s gazes fell into him. “We could, um… Sneak in…?” He more of asked than suggested the idea.
Before anyone could start to throw in arguments against such idea, the one eyed male raised his hand to shush everyone down. He started to grin mischievously while thinking the idea through. “Actually… I like that idea.” He grinned and quite well got the others baffled about his words. “Show the map of the place.” He half commanded and Wild took the map out.
“Take a check and choose your going. We’ll meet here.” The Chain’s leader told out the rules before pointing to the lookout pillar from where all the water was poured all around the town. And, luckily, that place was right in middle of the Gerudo Town.
Once everyone had taken a check on the map and started to plan their ways, Time pulled off while still having that mischievous grin on his face. “Good luck, boys. See you in middle of the place.” His grin only widened as he pulled out the Stone Mask and put it on. His chuckle was the only thing the boys heard after their startled and baffled shouts when they saw their leader just vanish from their sight. Warriors facepalmed and shook his head while feeling like he should’ve seen it coming.
There wasn’t any of competition or bet going on but each of them wanted to reach the place before the others. Legend was next one whom suddenly vanished from their sights as he put the Magic Cape on. He simply wished he had enough of magic to uphold the invisibility.
Right after him Hyrule took out his fairy form and already flew up to get over the high going wall. Next was Wind as he left the place to search for a place he could use to sneak into the place from different side. Wild gave his Sneaking Gear to the Captain before taking few steps backwards to be away from the others. After that he struck out Revali’s Gale to get high into the air and, hopefully, glide unnoticed into the target place. Warriors groaned but he changed his clothes a bit in hopes of getting into the town unseen.
Four began to climb the wall while knowing he’d take up on the Minish Magic once he’d figured out his way just so he could be even more out of sight on his actions. Sky and Twilight sighed but they started to round the place too in search of way inside. Neither was the best at sneaking but both had done such. Eventually, though, the rancher brought out Wolfie and hoped he could go unnoticed while just being a huge dog instead of wolf. The Chosen Hero just hoped he could fool others by faking to be asleep while hiding underneath his Sailcloth.
With the plans set and the Chain having dispersed to their own roads, their luck was varying. No-one saw or then just no-one put notion into the fairy as the Traveler just flew straight into the right place. He changed back to his Hylian form once he had sat down and could be quite certain of being out of sight.
The Veteran had used the higher ground to make straighter road for himself. The magic luckily held and he got into the place a while after his successor. He too sat down to be out of sight and notion. “I guess you won.” The Weapon Specialist just signed as he didn’t dare to speak in worry of getting found out. Hyrule just shrugged as an answer.
Third one whom came to the chosen place was Wild. He was fully grateful of how high the Rito Champion’s skill struck him. He also had used the sun for his aid to keep it harder from others to notice him. He took the chance when no-one was looking at his way and quickly landed into the lookout pillar. He too sat down and stayed as low as possible afterwards.
Next to reach the place was surprisingly Warriors. He had quickly realized how good the Sneaking Gear of the Champion’s was. He still needed to use all skills he had to sneak but the clothes really kept him unnoticed. It was thrilling feeling and he partly hoped he could get to either keep this set or at least Wild would tell him where he could get similar attire for himself.
Soon afterwards Four climbed over the railing and changed his size back to normal. He had originally thought about going on the walls and roofs like Legend but his form was too small for the gap he would’ve needed to jump. That had forced him to climb down to the streets and dash past the people and climb back up once he reached the pillar.
Next to arrive was the Sailor. Wind had found a hole in the wall and crawled through it. He put all his sneaking skills into usage as he moved through the streets and hid to anywhere he could. Getting past the market area was trickier part but, for once, he partly hoped the fact of him being “a kid” would aid him in being unnoticed. He was bit surprised of the few bigger and longer chances of people turning their notion elsewhere and so giving him a chance to cross longer parts of the market area before he was already climbing upwards on the pillar’s side.
Unexpectedly the Skyloftian arrived to the lookout point only a while after the pirate-Hero. He had snuck through another hole in the wall and moved through the streets as slowly and quietly as he could. Whenever he heard someone approaching, he leaned against the wall and pulled the white fabric over him. He made sure the crest of Hyrule was unseen before starting to fake calm snoring. Luckily the people didn’t pay attention to him and once they were gone, he continued forward. As with Wind, the market area was harder part for him. Still he used the Sailcloth as much as he could while using any surface to lean against to fake having fallen asleep. It felt bit of a miracle when he reached the pillar and began to climb as quickly as he could.
Twilight took bit longer than Sky before he got to the right place. He absolutely hated to fake being a domesticated dog. He chased his tail. He rolled over. He let the women scratch his belly and pet him. He did all the dogs did to drag suspicion and fear off of him. He was fully grateful of the shadowed side the lookout’s pillar had so he could change forms and climb up.
While the Chain made their way through the town to reach the place, Time made sure they managed with it. He had simply walked past the two guards and began to look around the town. As long as he had the Stone Mask on, no-one saw him. He restocked on their arrows and potions while just snatching the things and leaving the money on the counter. He created a distraction to catch people’s notion whenever they were too close of catching one of his boys. Hyrule and Legend didn’t need such but the rest did.
A slight metallic clang and playing with the light of the sun on arrow’s tip to give the needed distraction for Wild. Screech of arrow’s tip against rocky wall to pull too close gotten people away from Warriors. Pulling Four backwards when he was going to get crushed either by some item or one’s foot. He would’ve loved to pick him up and carry him to right place but it would’ve been too clear notion of his aid. Playing with a fireball to give Wind enough of time to reach the right pillar. Moving right next to Sky and hiding him behind his own magic to keep him from being seen. Pulling the notion off of the wolf whom was acting like a dog by unexpectedly freezing one of the small water areas.
Yet, once he had gotten the Chain to the right place, he didn’t straight off go to meet with them. Instead, he searched out the Inn and, like a voice in a wind, queried for one room’s price. When no-one was noticing, he swiftly wrote everyone’s names up even though he knew one would’ve charged him with forgery for that and paid for the stay of few days. Only after that he made his way to the lookout pillar.
“Good, everyone’s here.” Time simply said while pulling off the mask and quite well startling all eight boys of his. The one eyed male tried to stifle his laughter while still grinning mischievously. He glanced once around the market below them before his mischievous look only got wider. He ignored the pleading looks of his boys as he suddenly gave out a whistle and caught the notion of the people around the area.
Obviously, the nine Heroes were swiftly arrested and forced out of the town. The Chain’s leader was hardly holding back his laughter while the others were looking either defeated or angry of the situation. Once there only were the two guards by the doorway, Time just calmly approached them. “Hi, you might want to let us in as we’ve already booked the biggest room from the Inn. Nine customers by the same name of Link.” He simply told while grinning knowingly. He just nodded as the other one left the check the situation and get someone else on her place to guard the entrance.
The Gerudo Guard came back soon enough while looking entirely baffled. The trio unwillingly let them inside and Time just led the way straight to the Inn. They were quite a sight for the people of Gerudo Town but they had booked a stay so they couldn’t exactly throw the guys out of there either. Once in the safety of the biggest room the Inn hand, the oldest Link shared off the things he had restocked on and fully took his group off guard by that.
Few days later the Chain’s leader would’ve gladly taken day or several more to stay at the Inn but the keeper refused. The nine swordsmen barely had enough of time to gather their stuff before they were already kicked out of the Gerudo Town. At least they had had enough of time to plan their next moves and which way they would head towards. Yet, the boys, with Time’s acceptance, wanted to do one more sneaking into the town. Though, this time without any items or magics that could help to keep them unnoticed.
Wild surprisingly declined from the idea as he knew to rely on his Sneaking Gear more than he dared to admit. Time pulled out of the thing as he knew he could’ve snuck around his own era’s Gerudo area but not here. It was too well crowded for him to be capable of going unnoticed. Warriors shook his head too while telling that sneaking wasn’t within his abilities.
Legend, Hyrule and Wind were more than eager of going with the idea. In fact, it had been the Sailor whom had suggested that they’d give one last going in sneaking around the Gerudo Town. The Veteran and the Traveler were straight off in the plan.
Four thought for a while before he nodded and joined into the attempt of sneaking through the town. Sky and Twilight glanced at each other but they eventually backed away from the idea. Time hadn’t given any of words out about having caused distractions to aid them but some of his boys had a feeling there had been more going on that met the eye. Still, as they hadn’t seen a thing, they couldn’t prove it either.
And so, the sneaking into the town and going through it to the other side of the place was started from the two spots where the holes in the walls were. Legend and Hyrule used the place Sky had used while Four and Wind took the other one which was bit smaller hole. Wild, Twilight and Sky waited at the side where the entrance to the place was while Warriors and Time went with the two other teams. Though, the duo returned to the main area once the second of the two sneaking members of the Chain had gone into the hole in the wall.
The Chains top command chose the order the boys went off , one by one, to try their sneaking abilities. Legend was sent off first while hoping he didn’t need to get into the market area at all but that wasn’t give to him. There wasn’t a chance for any of them to get through the town without having to cross parts of the market. Yet, unlike the four attempting with the trick, at least Wild and Time had given full check around the town while they had had the chance. Still, considering the amount of people living in there, both knew it would be either impossible or at least extremely hard attempt at any given time no matter if it was night or day.
The Veteran put all he got into his attempt but he ended up caught from the edge of the market area. He tried to escape getting caught and hide to give it, in a way, another chance but in a place where everyone was a warrior, such wasn’t a possibility. Sooner than he would’ve wanted to admit, the Weapon Specialist was thrown out of the town. Wolfie gave out a howl to inform of Legend having gotten out of the town.
Four was next to try. He hoped his shortness would give him the advantage into the attempt. He put on all he had learned from the Minish about sneaking around one’s house while doing their best to avoid catching the notion of cats. He actually managed to get through the market place which was bit of a miracle for him. Yet, he had bad luck when he entered the last part of the road. He had been bit too occupied to check no-one saw him enter the corridor that he failed to check his road forward which resulted into him walking straight against one of the Gerudo women.
Once Wolfie gave the heads-up about Four being with them, Warriors send Hyrule off into the attempt. After that he moved over to the side of where Time was with Wind. The Traveler’s skills were better than his brothers’ were as his whole life had been about survival and sneaking around to avoid monsters and cultists catching him. He got the entrance into his sight but now he had a bigger problem at his hands. How was he going to get through the guarded doorway without being noticed? He was certain that if he caused a ruckus at elsewhere, only one of the guards would leave the spot. While thinking his actions through, the half-fairy ended up caught from behind.
Wind left to the road and the one eyed male and his big brother returned to the others. Wild had borrowed Time’s Stone Mask and followed from higher ground the road his brothers took. It was partly to keep everyone safe but mainly to give out that none of them would claim anything else than the actual truth of when and how they ended up caught.
Sailor, being master of sneaking, knew perfectly well what he was doing. Getting through the alleys was easy. Getting through the market was trickier thing but with right timing and usage of all possible obstacles gave him the road forward. Soon enough he was in the place where Hyrule had gotten to before getting caught. Even though he hadn’t checked around the place, he had watched the training the Gerudo did with their higher ranked warriors. And through that he had learned one specific and sharp whistle. He didn’t hesitate using it and getting the duo to stand straighter and snapping their gazes forward. That short moment gave him perfect chance to sneak past the duo while being extremely careful of not touching either of them.
With the winner of the little competition known, the Chain of nine Heroes left the desert. By the late evening they reached the closest possible Stable. Luckily the place still was as friendly and welcoming towards travelers as all the other Stables in Wild’s own time.
After the evening meal done by the Champion, the one eyed male pretty much sent his boys into the huge tent to pick their beds. He grinned a bit when he heard the eight Heroes pushing the beds together while pulling stuff away from between. The action luckily took long enough for the oldest Link to prepare a simple treat for the Chain.
“So, the sneaking around was quite successful today as it was few days ago.” Time started while putting the tray down between them all. “Hence, this.” He continued and pulled the dome off of the way to reveal mugs of hot chocolates and two cookies for everyone. “Before anyone asks, yes, the cookies are done by Malon.” He confirmed with a slight grin. The Chain bit blushed as they all really loved their leader’s wife’s cookies the most. Wild had tried to copy them but he always felt like he was missing something from them. Either way, it was perfect ending for their little adventure of sorts in the Gerudo Town. At the next day they’d move forward but for now…
They simply enjoyed of the treats and company while sharing their stories of sneaking into or out of some places during their own quests. Even their beloved leader told more about his going through the Gerudo Valley in his own era. And, just for the cherry on top, they snuggled close to each other in the Hero Pile of Support and Comfort for the night.

Story for prompt # 5
“Live or die. Doesn’t make a difference. You’re still doomed.” Story belongs to my Ranch Family AU.
Summary: Dark-Link: Hylian with dark skin, silver hair and red eyes. Husband to Cia. Father of Link Hartwig Pendragon. One of the two keepers of an orphanage called Dragon’s Hoard. Servant to Demon Majora.
This is his background story.
CW: Mention of kidnapping a child, murders, other kidnappings, extortion, other killings, child abuse, muggings, pickpocketing, etc. considering what bad guys too; causing chaos and escaping it, setting bad guys free (lawyer work) Lot mentioned but nothing going too deep or telling of how things are done.
Notion: - First actual background story for Ranch Family AU! =D - As the Golden Goddess Farore gave Life, of course she will also guard the new life forms until they’re old enough to accept the Guardian Deity of their own. ;)
Wars: Link Hartwig “Born” Pendragon: - Derived from the Old German elements hart "hard, firm, brave, hardy" and wig "battle". - Pendragon, Welsh in origin, translates to ‘chief dragon’, a title suggestive of leadership and authority. - “Born” is nickname given by his parents and just stands for the fact that he’s the son of the Dragon Horde’s keepers.

Servant to Demon Majora
Ruby eyes were staring out through the window into the extremely well fenced yard. It was late already, long after midnight but the man couldn’t sleep. Something had rattled him on that day and he wasn’t certain what it was. His mind desperately searched for answers. Answers, he wasn’t willing to uncover. Yet, those were answers he knew for certainty to surface tonight no matter how he’d fight against them.
That was the reason Dark-Link closed his eyes and leaned back in the chair. He wouldn’t be sleeping but it was easier to let it all come crashing down when he didn’t need to see anything. At least the orphanage was silent tonight. It was like they all knew they’d be in HUGE trouble if they did as much as sneezed now. He would really lose his temper and make them pay if his moment was broken.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The hazel eyed child followed his father into a garden of statues. His golden hair was shining in the sunny day. He looked around in amazement. He had seen glimpses of the area whenever they had walked past it but this was the first time he was brought into there. Into the vicinity of these creations.
“This is the Garden of the Deities.” The boy’s father started with awfully grave voice. “The Castle City has all of this in much grander scale but each city and town in Hyrule has one version of this area.” He continued firmly while letting his gaze go around the start of the area.
The man crouched down into his child’s level with very clear worry written in his eyes and whole demeanor. “Close your eyes, little one.” He requested as calmly as he could but it sounded more like a command than anything else. The boy frowned in rising worry but he did as his father asked him to. He could feel his father stand up and for first time he feared his father would just walk away from him.
“Follow your heart and let it lead you.” The spoken words confused the little kid but he felt grateful of having not been left alone. He had heard stories of parents abandoning their kids which was what caused his fear to surface. “You need a Guardian Deity and you can only choose such in this kind of sacred place. Let your heart follow the call of the Deity whom shall protect you.” The adult male told while trying to keep his voice encouraging instead of demanding.
The boy nodded before taking a deep breath and trying to calm down. He had heard bits and pieces about Guardian Deities but no-one had fully explained things to him. He would’ve loved to learn to know all of the Deities in the garden but clearly he needed to let only one of them choose him. It felt odd to him but he wanted to please his father so that he could be certain of never losing him.
Suddenly the child jerked as he felt a tug. He snapped his eyes open and looked around but no-one else than his father was there. “You felt it, right?” The father inquired and bit smiled as his son raised his gaze up. “Don’t be afraid. Follow it.” He coaxed and his boy nodded in understanding.
The little one closed his eyes again and calmed down again. His father wanted him to do this so it had to be right. He flinched slightly when he felt it again but this time he began to walk. The Deities had to be good, right? After all, they were GUARDIAN Deities. That had to matter and mean something to the people around Hyrule.
The boy gave into the feeling he needed to follow. He shivered a bit when he felt something round around his arm like a snake. The feeling started from his wrist and slowly moved upwards all the way to his shoulder. The tugging changed into a pull and he bit stumbled. The Deity really wanted him to speed up.
“At ease, boy.” The father called with clear worry within his voice. The child frowned as he felt like something was wrong. He flinched and stumbled as he felt something brush at his face.
“This isn’t your outlook.”
The boy snapped his eyes open at the odd claim. “Dad?” He called while looking up to his father. “I heard something say that this isn’t my outlook. What does that mean?” He queried with a confused frown.
The little one’s father stopped walking for a moment before he snapped into action and grabbed the back of his child’s tunic. “Do not listen to it.” He stated out firmly with poorly hidden fear in his almost frantic voice. He quickly looked around in worry of someone having put notion into them. After that he quickly crouched down and placed his hand against the boy’s face.
The boy gasped and recoiled backwards. “You told me to follow a Deity. Am I doing something wrong?” He asked worriedly.
The father bit down to his lower lip while clearly being contradicted of the situation. That only worried the child even more than before. Eventually the father stood up. “It was a bad idea to come to here.” He muttered fearfully.
“Dad?” The boy called with rising fear and worry.
“We need to leave. The one whom is trying to make a claim on your life is not a worthy Deity to accept as your Guardian Deity.” The father stated out
“”Live or die. Doesn’t make a difference. You’re still doomed.” Those were your mother’s words after you were born.”
“W-what…?” The child whispered while frowning. He raised his shocked and teary gaze up into his father. “D-dad…” He called and got the adult male to turn his notion into him. The father frowned in confusion at the expression his child was giving him. “W-what did mom mean… W-with her words… W-when I was born?”
“What do you mean? What words?” The father asked in full confusion while trying to hide his dread the whole situation was bringing up.
“The Deity that wants to be my Guardian Deity told that she… S-she…” The boy started before gulping few times. “L-live or die. D-doesn’t make a difference. Y-you’re still doomed.” He quoted with wavering voice.
The father stared at his boy in utter shock. He barely breathed before he shook his head roughly. He tried to ease out his fast and heavy breathing as his rough gaze returned into the child. “That Deity is a liar. You cannot listen to them.” He commanded as firmly as he could.
Suddenly, from the cloudless and sunny sky, a sharp and bright lightning struck with such rumble that one could’ve believed a bomb to have blown up nearby. Everyone screamed and began to run out of the place. The father reached towards his son but unseen wall stopped his attempts. The boy tried to move towards his father but something held him to his place.
“You are mine now. Your mother left you few days after your birth. Your father has been trying to hide your true outlook. You are a Dark Link.”
As the place emptied of people swiftly while the sunny sky was overrun by dangerously black clouds, the father slowly raised his gaze up. “Release him, Majora.” He commanded as firmly as he could as he glared hostilely at the being that had appeared out of nowhere.
The being laughed and it sounded like the rumble of the thunder. Several more lightnings flashed as the thing smirked. It had four tentacles of which one was wrapped around the child’s arm. The colors of red, blue and gold were shining brightly and giving the Demon ethereal outlook. “Back off, Twili.” The Demon snarled with wicked delight. The father of the boy the Demon had chosen jerked a step backwards.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Dark-Link sighed as he opened his eyes to stare at the shadowed ceiling. He ran his hand through his silvery hair. He frowned slightly as he pulled his hand out of his locks and stared at the dark skin. He wasn’t certain anymore if he had always been dark skinned, red-eyed and silver haired or if that was Demon Majora’s, his Guardian Deity’s, work. After all, after that one day he had never been the same again. Yet, he had fallen unconscious soon after the tentacle armed Demon had denied his father from getting anywhere near him again.
The Hylian male closed his eyes again while taking bit better position on the soft chair. He crossed his arms behind his head and left his childhood into its own value. There was nothing worth of keeping in the life he had had with his father.
After all, his whole existence had been a lie from the very beginning. His mother wanted him dead. His father had used disguise magic to hide his true identity. He wasn’t certain anymore how much of his life had been just lies.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The life at the streets was never easy. That Dark-Link had learned swiftly. Yet, the Guardian Deity of his, Demon Majora, guided him and kept him safe enough and, most of all, alive. Survival was what his life was all about.
Dark-Link often thought back to that moment he had woken up in pure darkness with just Demon Majora sitting in front of him. He had wanted back home. He had tried to escape and leave but there was nowhere to go. The darkness scared him more than the being.
Yet, the Demon just sat there and watched. He simply waited for the right moment to start to talk. And the boy wasn’t certain if the spoken words were actual truth or lies as his father had claimed. And yet… Why would a Divine Being lie to those they considered as “lesser forms”? Especially to those they chose to be a Guardian Deity for?
“You are abandoned. Your life is in my hands now.”
The boy gulped and simply nodded. There was no way out of this situation. And he believed that once one Deity had claimed Guardianship over another being, there was no chance of changing the Guardian Deity at later time. So, all he had anymore was this Demon Majora. All he could do was to let the being guide and, as the word implied, guard him.
“Follow my words to the letter and you will live. I will make you strong. I will make you feared. I will lead you to your kind and into your sole purpose. Deny me or fight against me and I will make your life the worst kind of hell. The torture I know is unimaginable. But, follow me and these skills of mine will be yours.”
The given promises were intriguing and took the child along. At that day he took a new name of his own choice: Dark-Link. After all, that had been what Demon Majora had called him. Besides, it sounded cool. Plus it was something that could be shortened down into D-L which gave a perfect anonymity while coming up with any possible name which started with those two letters.
After the darkness had faded, D-L found himself from entirely different place than where he remembered having fallen unconscious. “New place, new name.” The words echoed in his head as he stood up and walked out of the alleyway. He had never left the small town he had lived his childhood in but now he certainly was in a city. “Easy to hide into.” He could admit that advise to hold truth as no-one seemed to put any notion into him.
D-L looked around in awe before the Demon Majora’s voice came back. Following each direction he navigated through the city. The area he ended into made him tremble in fear. He flinched at the rough words and comments about cowardice. He took a deep breath and forced himself to move forward and shake off the tremble.
The boy could feel the gazes in him even though he couldn’t find anyone as he looked around. Yet, as he walked deeper into the area where only bad guys lurked in, he could feel a presence with him. A presence that felt malicious but also warm and protective. With the feeling surrounding him, he took a better posture and left his fear behind.
Slowly, by his Guardian Deity’s guidance, he found his new life thrilling and fun. He spoke the words Demon Majora told him to say. He learned to fight by Demon Majora’s advices in a battles that could’ve claimed his life. He started off from pickpocketing while slowly moving into bigger league. He didn’t pay for food as he simply stole it. The money was for information and power.
The older he got, the more ruthless he became. The other criminals began to fear him. They barely even dared to say his name. The higher throne he got, the less he needed Demon Majora’s guidance. He could feel his Guardian Deity being proud of him.
Yet, the path of blood he was on wasn’t enough. Not for him nor for his Guardian Deity. This had been just a step on the road forward. To mold him into the person he needed to be. The next phase of his life started when he met with Cia.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Dark-Link smirked as he thought about his wife. Her snow white hair, blood red eyes and dark colored clothes had caught his notion the moment he had first seen her. The woman commanded power and authority just by her appearance and walking. He was a leader and so was she. The Guardian Deity of his had been silent for so long as his aid hadn’t been needed but now back then he had spoken two simple lines:
“Servant of Demon God Demise.” He could remember feeling Demon Majora’s smirk. “Perfect match.”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
With the courage D-L had gained from his Guardian Deity, he approached Cia with full confidence and certainty of his actions and words. The white haired woman took one check on him and smirked. Right after that the game of wits was on.
Both of the red eyed Hylians tried to out-talk and out-think the other one. They put their best men and women to show off the heists, home invasions, kidnappings and murders. They did all they could to give the impression of their reign of evil being better and bigger than what the other one had.
The city was soon under terror as the two overlords of two different sections of the area were, in a way, in war. The fact of the police and Knights getting involved into the situation only made the game deadlier and far more fun for the two of them.
“Time to skip. Follow my directions to the letter.”
D-L smirked when he heard his Guardian Deity’s voice. He didn’t think twice as he ditched his followers and left the city. He laughed at the chaos he left behind him while knowing he would get out of it all unscathed. He already planned how he would restart it all in the next city but Demon Majora had fully different plans for him.
“Follow her.”
It was simple command and D-L took it as a game when he saw Cia. At first he thought to just do as told, to follow, but instead he walked boldly right to her and called out her name. The woman turned around bit startled but her smirk was soon on her lips as she let him come close.
Without the obligations and people to rule over, the two of them began to talk far more calmer and normal. The company they had from each other for the travel slowly grew to be something more. Neither had ever really cared for another being for any other reason than to benefit from them. And yet, now, there was something different.
Eventually they came to another huge city where they could just vanish into. At first they started to entertain the idea of doing as before. Taking over an area, gather loyal followers and start the chaos. Yet, before either of them could even begin to search for a place, the Guardian Deities already forced them to different paths.
D-L wasn’t fully understanding the situation or the commands but he had long ago learned not to question Demon Majora’s word. Lying and being convincing wasn’t hard for him as he searched for a job. Yet, the place he got it from was both a huge surprise as well as such entertainment he hadn’t even though to gain.
Dark-Link became a lawyer. His Guardian Deity once again took the lead and gave him the words to speak and the knowledge he needed. Before he even realized it, he had already set one murderer free of the charges.
Little by little, one person at a time, he began to gather a different kind of dynasty. It was well hidden and most loyal. The people he set free weren’t just in debt to him by money but by the fact that they could keep doing what they wished. Fooling the police and Knights became a hobby for him. All he needed was the full knowledge of his customer’s work and get someone to copy their work precisely. If there were mistakes, the ones at fault would definitely find their throats slit before the day would turn to evening. And this, obviously, was a perfect free card to his customers to get out of the jail they were facing. The cops and Knights were chasing ghosts after that.
Once he had gained some name, money and feeling like he had his life the right way, his Guardian Deity led his road once again. Dark-Link smirked as Demon Majora guided his feet right to Cia. And before he knew it, he had moved in with her into a mansion she had somehow managed to gain. He never asked as she didn’t ask questions from him. They both had their roads and for now it was intertwined between them. And, eventually, one thing led to another before they even understood the situation.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The keeper of Dragon’s Hoard scowled as he opened his eyes and looked around the room. From the position he had had… How had he fallen as low as this? He understood how his life had gone after he had met with Cia. Part of him had waited for them to have combined their groups and rule over even bigger part of the city but… This?
This had never even crossed his mind. This place. That brat. The whiny little bastards… All of this had never been part of his plan. And yet, it somehow fit into what his Guardian Deity had in mind. Demon Majora had a bigger plan and he wasn’t certain he anymore knew what that plan was. The ethereal being hadn’t spoken to him for years but he still felt the being’s presence in his life. It was more he could ask for but he still craved for something bigger. Something he felt like he had lost the older and better with his life he had become.
“What is it that you want of me, Guardian?” was the question that kept going through Dark-Link’s mind every now and then. The inquiry remained unanswered but he knew Demon Majora would steer him to right path if he faltered from it. And yet, unlike before, he just couldn’t understand how this orphanage and the unwanted children were part of the grand plan.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
The next couple of years went well for Dark-Link and Cia. They both gathered their followers in different ways but still aiding one another whenever needed. The money didn’t seem to be a problem as they both certainly had more than enough but before they knew it, that started to be the topic of their conversations more often than not.
It wasn’t about where to get it or how to use it. It was how to hide it and how to keep the knowledge of its movements unnoticed. They were gathering things they wished to keep away from the people of the city’s notion. They were “renovating” the house with hidden rooms and underground areas.
This all was something both of the Guardian Deities were demanding for. Yet, neither gave answers for the reason of such actions. And still, there was something intriguing with all that was being gathered and installed. Before either of the residents even realized it, they both were more than curios and willing to find someone they could use as test subject for all these creations.
“Children.” The Demon Majora’s voice was filled with contempt as that word snapped into Dark-Link’s mind. “The streets are filled with them. Abandoned brats that no-one cares about. Stupid little things that will do anything for a place to live in and bit of food to eat.”
The man didn’t straight off understand what his Guardian Deity was suggesting so he talked the given idea through with Cia. The woman straight off figured it out and within few months their mansion had been named as Dragon’s Hoard before the first kid was brought in by one of their followers. And, with a delighted smirk, they realized the city paid for the upholding of the kids. The more and the younger, the more there’d come money. Obviously, that money never went into the looking after of the children.
Few years later something unexpected happened: Cia was pregnant. At first they both were up for abortion as such didn’t belong to their simple plan. Yet, both Guardian Deities stopped such actions.
“As good is born from evil and evil is born from good, there are more ways than one for such to happen. Our goal will be step closer with this child.” Dark-Link felt his Guardian Deity reach towards his wife before he already flinched as the being gasped and recoiled. “Yes… Indeed… He will be needed.”
Demon Majora never gave further explanations considering the child so the duo decided to get the boy to follow in their footsteps. The pained gasp and the Guardian Deity recoiling backwards was something that never left Dark-Link’s mind. It was omen of bad but he never brought the situation up or questioned the ethereal being’s decisions. Yet, the fact the Guardian Deity couldn’t touch the child was worrisome.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Dark-Link got up from the chair and moved to the window. He leaned fully against the windowsill and stared into the dark yard. He wished he could’ve talked with his Guardian Deity like back when he had been a child. Yet, the being had told it got hard to uphold the conversations for more than few simple lines now and then. Coming into sight like back when they met for the first and only time was even more exhausting. Yet, there was something Demon Majora had once promised to him:
“There will come a day when I walk on these lands again.”
That simple line was something he thrived for even though he didn’t know how he could make it happen. Part of him felt like this orphanage would be the answer but he still didn’t fully understand it. Cia kept reassuring him of just following her lead and things would work out. After all, her Guardian Deity was one step higher than his was. And, today, the plan had moved forward by one step. Even Demon Majora had gained some actual strength to have bit of a conversation with him…
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Dark-Link could feel the wicked pleasure within his Guardian Deity when the five new boys were brought in. Yet, he scowled when one of those brats was a baby. That small thing couldn’t have been older than few days. Yet, he shrugged it off and dumped the thing into his five year old son’s arms. After all, the younger, the better money.
“One of them…” The Guardian Deity hissed while looking at the boys with such malice Dark-Link had never before felt. “One of them… It will be a delight to hear him scream…” Demon Majora snarled while letting its golden gaze go from one newcomer to another.
“Which one?” Dark-Link queried while being more than eager to please his Guardian Deity. He frowned in worry as the divine being growled in frustration.
“I cannot find him. I know it is one of them.” The ethereal deity stated out before his next words came out with contempt: “Farore guards the children before they’re old enough for their own Guardian.”
“Is that why you could pick me only when I was brought to the Garden of the Deities?” Dark-Link queried with slight frown.
The Guardian Deity snorted. “I had chosen you the day you were born. I only had to wait until Farore let her protection down on you.”
“I’m assuming that is the reason you cannot touch Born, right?” The man more of commented while still remembering the day his Guardian Deity had tried to make a claim in his child.
“That is true. Farore protected him. And she is still by him.” Demon Majora growled while glancing at the five year old boy with the baby.
Dark-Link nodded slightly in understanding. Soon he smirked as he knew four out of five could be fun guinea pigs for what he and his wife had in mind. “How about we start from the other ones. Just for the fun.” He flinched slightly when the deity snorted angrily.
“Wait a year on those five. Then you can have all five. Maybe Farore will give a sign and reveal the one to me.”
“May I ask—“
“My murderer is reborn as one of those bastards.” The words were snarled out with such rage and hatred that it got Dark-Link to flinch roughly. Yet, as the words sank in, he could feel his own hatred and anger rise too. He would make those five regret ever having touched his Guardian Deity. He would have LOT of fun making them suffer.
“Death would be too much of a mercy.” Demon Majora answered into the question Dark-Link was only starting to form. “I WANT him to suffer.”
“As you wish. Those five won’t be touched until next year. Before that they all will get the same treatment as the others do.” Dark-Link promised and he felt his Guardian Deity nod in acceptance. It would be long year while knowing one of those five was the reason his protector wasn’t within this Realm. He really wanted to already put them all through hell just to take revenge on what had been done to Demon Majora. But, promise was a promise and he wasn’t going to break that.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Dark-Link raised his gaze up into the black clouds that more often than not surrounded the mansion’s area. It was bit odd that ever since he had moved into the house sun hadn’t really reached the grassy ground or the mansion. It felt like their Guardian Deities preferred the darkness and the haunted mansion feel it brought out. Nonetheless, he had come to enjoy of the eerie feeling it all brought out. At least it also kept unwanted people away from their lands.
“Still awake, I see.” Cia suddenly spoke from the doorway.
“So are you.” Dark-Link answered without turning to face her.
“You’ve been even more brutal today than ever before.” The woman commented and smirked with clear pleasure as she came to lean her back against the window’s side. “I like that. Where does this new you come from?”
“From my Guardian.” The man replied while tensing up and glaring at the scenery before him. “He told one of the five that were brought in today is his nemesis.”
“Oooh! A perfect one to torture and put through the mad scientist hobby of ours.” She almost cooed delightedly.
“Can’t.” Dark-Link sighed and bit slumped. “Not for a year, at least. One of them is too young for such. And my Guardian wants them to suffer as cruelly as possible.”
Cia nodded slowly while scowling. “Understandable.” She muttered before already smirking. “But, at next year, by this time, we’ll have far more fun than ever before.” Dark-Link just nodded with a matching smirk.

Story for prompt # 4
“You’re crazy if you think I’m going to jump down from here!”
Summary: Chased by monsters, the Heroes of Time and Legend don’t have any other choice than to jump. The road out of the water is long and slow and definitely not without danger. All’s fine and dandy for the Veteran but not so much for the Chain’s leader whom very much regrets having NOT had the masks with him.
CW: Cursing, worry of drowning, chased by monsters, bit of bad feelings, mention of wounds
Notion: Slight call back to my other story:
This story in AO3:
https://archiveofourown.org/users/The_Golden_Wolf
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Calm moment underneath the surface
“RUN!”
“FUCK!! THIS WAS NOT HOW THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO GO!”
“JUST KEEP RUNNING!!”
Time glanced behind them and scowled at the amount of monsters chasing them. “KEEP GOING!” He screamed as he skidded to a stop and quickly performed the moves of Din’s Fire. Yet, he didn’t let it spread all around as usually when he did it this way. This just was for the full control of his actions as he sent the wide wall of fire at the beasts. It wasn’t going to hold them back for long but maybe long enough for them to escape.
Legend screamed as he skidded to a stop right before a ledge. He backed away while looking around a way out of the situation. Suddenly the older Link was there and the Veteran just barely was fast enough to snatch a hold of him and pull him back. “Fuck, fuck, fuck… This ain’t good…” He mumbled while frantically searching something else than the fact of being trapped between a fall and horde of monsters.
“Jump.” The Chain’s leader commanded as he kept glancing behind them. “My trick’s not holding them long.”
“Wha…” Legend started while staring baffled at the fully armored brother of his. “You’re crazy if you think I’m going jump down from here!” He shouted while knowing they were in Wind’s era and the water was going to be very deep at here.
Time scowled as he saw the monsters already coming. He moved towards them without drawing out a weapon. “Time… You are not going to face those freaks alone.” The Weapons Specialist snarled.
“I know…” The one eyed male told with a slight grin. “And you don’t need to jump.” He stated out before he turned towards his boy and dashed forward. Legend screamed as the older male picked him up and jumped into the water below them. “Hold your breath!” He commanded before already taking a deep inhale while closing his eye.
Time knew he was sinking fast due to the armor he had. Yet, he counted the seconds before letting go of Legend. They were deep enough to be out of notion while still giving the younger Hero the chance to swim away from the area to where the monsters could spot them from before surfacing. Him, though…? He knew he would sink until he’d reach the bottom. At then, if he was lucky, he still would be alive but getting the armor off and reaching the surface again wouldn’t be an option of any kind. There was no shore anywhere near. Only the rocky wall of the cliff he had jumped down from while having picked Legend along with him. He knew he was going to drown and simply accepted it.
While still sinking, the Chain’s leader felt a frantic tap on his cheek. Frowning, he opened his eye only to nearly gasp in shock. The Veteran hadn’t swam back up as he had hoped him to do. Yet, his shock turned into confusion as he saw the reddish fish tail in the place of his boy’s legs. He hadn’t even realized him to have changed.
“The Zora mask?” Legend signed while going downwards with Time.
The one eyed male grimaced before giving a slight shrug and sheepish look. “In the bag with Epona.” He signed back while knowing what that meant to him. “Just go. Get somewhere safe.”
The expression on the Specialist’s face hardened and he shook his head. “I’m NOT going to let you drown!” He snapped with his hands. “Besides, this isn’t ordinary transformation. I’d need to find a safe place and wait to dry before I get my feet back.”
The oldest Link would’ve sighed if he didn’t need to hold on to the air he had. “There’s nothing you can do. I don’t want you to see this. Just leave. Please.” He nearly pleaded by both his expression and hands.
Legend glanced up before checking the depth that Time would still sink. “There is something I can do.” He signed before heading up to the surface. He glanced once downwards and scowled at the fact of how certain his leader looked of his own doom. Yet, he swiftly put his notion back into his actions as he didn’t break the surface while slowing down into a stop. After that, as carefully as he could, he pushed his mouth past the border between the seawater and clear air. He inhaled as deeply as he could before pulling carefully back down until already turning around and swimming as fast as he could.
By the time the merman reached the Chain’s leader, the one eyed male had found the bottom of the area. “You did this in Termina when we were surrounded by the poisonous fog.” He simply explained before he moved closer and carefully gave the air he had fetched to Time. “Let me know when you’re halfway with your air and I will fetch more for you.” He quite well commanded with a stern look on his face.
Time just nodded until looking around. “Which way do you think is the closest shore?” He inquired while wanting to change the topic.
“I’m more worried about your armor. Shouldn’t you take it off?” Legend countered while eyeing the situation and how slow his oldest brother would be in moving.
“I’m not part of the ocean without Mikau’s form.” The one eyed male reminded. “I’ll be like a log on raging sea if I try to do things from the surface.”
The Veteran grimaced at the thought before nodding in understanding. “We better get a move on, then.” He shrugged a bit while looking around. “I think we could keep the rocky formation on one side. On that way we’ll be rounding the island and hopefully finding a place to get out of the water safely.”
The well armored male nodded before just shrugging and beginning to walk while keeping the cliff’s wall to his right. Legend followed calmly while keeping notion in their surroundings but mainly in his brother in worry of him not telling when he’d need to regain some air to survive. “Smithy’s going to be mad at me for this…” Time signed after a while with bit of a sheepish look on his face.
“I bet he understands when we explain it to him. He’d rather you stayed alive instead of worrying over armor.” Legend replied firmly.
“I could’ve taken it off and put the Iron Magic on but the armor’s already wet so I don’t see the reason not to keep it on. Besides, the Iron Magic isn’t fun on my feet for long while. And we don’t know how long it’ll take before we find a way out of here.” The Chain’s leader explained as calmly as he could. The Veteran just nodded in understanding.
A while later the one eyed male gently touched Legend’s bare arm. He grimaced a bit when the Veteran clearly was taken off guard by the action and jerked away from the touch. “Sorry.” He apologized straight off but his boy just shook his head.
“What is it?” Legend simply signed back instead of acknowledging the startle he had gained.
“Air.” The Chain’s leader swiftly signed and the merman nodded firmly. He watched how gracefully the half Hylian, half fish swam up to the surface. The Specialist did as before by slowing down into a stop, breaking the surface unnoticeably, took the air in, pulled back and swam back down as fast as he could. This time, though, he was grateful as he had noticed his leader keeping check on him. “That was swift.” He signed with a slight grin before accepting the air. Legend just shrugged while following his oldest brother again. “It’s either because your form is made for this area or then because you use magic from the Pegasus Boots.” Time half wondered.
“Doesn’t really matter as long as it keeps you alive.” The Veteran replied with a shrug.
“It would be fun to know.” The oldest Link commented and only got a shrug as an answer.
After few more times of fetching air for Time, the one eyed male suddenly yanked the merman behind him. Legend was bit startled of seeing huge bluish-purple clam with spikes around it. As he wasn’t in his leader’s sight, he wasn’t capable of asking questions about the thing. Yet, he frowned a bit about the Chain’s leader drawing out his Longshot and pointing it at the thing.
The Veteran watched carefully as the thing jumped few times closer to them before turning around. When it opened up, Time shot the hook into the thing. He relaxed when the beast went into two pieces and vaporized. After that he turned around to face Legend. “Shell Blade. Faced several of them in my two first quests.” He explained while putting the weapon away.
“Glad you knew what that thing was.” Legend replied with a slight grin.
“We probably should tell about the beasts we’ve faced and defeated.” Time mused while thinking back at how many monsters he had so far faced before this current quest.
The Specialist grinned and bowing he did very much meant for ‘you first’. “You can start, Old Man.” He signed calmly.
The Chain’s leader tried not to chuckle but part of it still came out. It wasn’t that he wouldn’t have done that any other time but right now he needed to hold to the air he had. “Once we’re back together with the others.” He grinned as he continued to sign:  “Don’t want to explain everything twice and get you all bored.”
Legend rolled his eyes and shook his head. “I bet everyone got a comment or few to throw in so I doubt I’d get bored listening to the notions they’ll come up with.”
“Good point.” The oldest Link nodded in agreement. “Air?”
“On it.” The Veteran replied swiftly before already dashing off towards the surface.
Once his situation was secured again, Time signed a slight command of sorts: “You should check around a bit. See if you can find a shore for us to get up from.”
“I’m not leaving you alone, Time.” Legend almost snapped with his hands.
“You’re faster in moving at the moment. You’ll certainly be back before I get few meters forward.” The one eyed male countered calmly. The Hero with most quests done hesitated for a moment before he nodded firmly. While still feeling entirely unwilling of doing as told, he swam away as quickly as he could while hoping he wouldn’t go too far so he’d get back swiftly enough too.
The Chain’s leader kept moving forward while keeping as good notion in his surroundings while Legend was gone. He wasn’t certain of what to hope for but he couldn’t help the feeling of relief when the merman eventually returned. Yet, before he could request for anything, the boy of his already signed that one simple word: “Air?”
Time shook his head for an answer. “Info first.” He half commanded before crossing his arms over his chest and giving his disappointed look. The Veteran shrunk a bit in front of him before nodding firmly.
“There’s a shore not far from here but there’s a monster camp. Lynel and four Bokoblins.” The Specialist explained with a slight grimace.
“So we gotta move further to find a safe place to surface.” The oldest Link mused before pointing upwards and giving a nod. Legend didn’t think twice as he shot towards the wavy border between air and water.
As they passed the shore unseen beneath the water, the next area only brought more cliffs and no way up. They kept going until something else caught their notion. There was a shadow coming from above them and it didn’t belong to a monster or bird. “Ship. Go check it but be very careful. They might have nets in the water.” The one eyed male noted.
“Will do but first I’ll fetch air for you.” The weapon hoarding Hero stated out firmly while making sure to stay far enough from the thing. He fully ignored Time’s rougher command and the given scowl which soon turned into disappointed look. Yet, the merman knew if he went to check the ship first, his leader would certainly end up drowning in the meanwhile. And that certainly was something he did NOT accept to happen.
“You’re missing the ship!” The Hero with Fierce Deity’s markings snapped roughly as he noticed the distance. “It could’ve been Tetra’s ship! We could’ve…” He held in the growl and shook his head as he watched the thing leave.
“If it was Tetra’s ship only half of the others would’ve been there. Wind and some others. The rest would stay here in this island in case we’d come back. Tetra and her crew probably would only check the closest islands before starting to head to the further ones.” Legend rationalized calmly.
Time sighed but nodded in agreement. “You’re right. I just…” He started before trailing off and averting his gaze. His boy fully  understood both sides of what the oldest Link was meaning but leaving unsaid: Rescue and death.
“I’ll fetch air.” Legend simply signed before already heading back up as his brother’s earlier action had already sent some of the earlier brought air out of his lungs.
The Chain’s leader tried not to pay attention into the fact of how long they had already been underneath the water. “Should’ve probably chosen the other direction back then.” The Veteran half grumbled before bit eyeing a fish that swam from close of them. Yet, he soon shook his head and concentrated back into their current road and keeping Time alive.
“Getting hungry there, Vet?” The one eyed male inquired and Legend bit blushed in slight embarrassment. “Just chase it down and get something eaten. I’m sure I’ll manage until then.”
The Weapon Specialist shook his head and fully ignored the school of fishes going past them. “Nah. I’ll eat once we’re on dry land and back with the others.” He replied and grinned. “I’m sure Wild’s more than willing to feed us at then.”
Time did his best to hold back the chuckle before nodding. Yet, he was grinning eagerly at that thought. “What do you think he’d make for us?” He inquired with bit dreamy look.
“Anything we ever could ask for.” Legend replied confidently. “And I already know what I’m craving for once we get out of here.”
“Hot chocolate?” The oldest Hero raised an eyebrow.
“Sure but more than that…” The Veteran nodded before sighing bit dreamily. “Wrapping up into Rancher’s pelt and have that damned wolf to pet.”
Time couldn’t help it as he began to chuckle. “I was waiting for you to point out something food related!” He signed swiftly while grinning. “But, if we’re going for stuff on this line… I’m picking the Captain’s scarf.” He stated out firmly. “And I’m NOT going to share!”
“Wouldn’t have even dreamt of it!” The merman replied equally gleefully. “And I*M not going to share Wolfie either!” He pointed out before sticking his tongue out at his brother. That only got the one eyed male to laugh even more. “Hold that though, I’m fetching air for you.” He stated out before already dashing towards the surface.
It was long after the sun had set and the moon risen to the sky that the two Heroes of Hyrule finally found a place to get out of the water. It was extremely well secluded small patch of beach. It was surrounded by thick forest that was almost impossible to get through. It nearly was like a green cave of sorts.
The moment Time got his head above the surface, he already inhaled sharply before already starting to cough. Legend moved next to him to help keep him upright. The fishtail was coiled onto the sand to keep him to his place too.
Eventually the one eyed male calmed down and got his breathing under control. “I’m okay.” He promised before continuing to get more out of the water and towards the shore. The Veteran followed him while still feeling bit worried but the closer he got to the dry land, the harder it started to be to move forward. “I know armor’s not fun on bare skin but if you allow, I’ll carry you up to the dry sand.” The Chain’s leader suggested and his boy nodded in acceptance.
Time carefully picked the merman up and Legend wrapped his arms around his neck to aid a bit. The oldest Link walked to mid-area of the leafy grotto of sorts to be as far from the water as possible while still maintaining length to the forest around them. He slowly and carefully lowered the youngster down into the sand. “Just let me get my hands dry and I can start to use the heat of Din’s Fire to get the water off of you.” He offered while looking around to find something he could use as a towel.
Legend shook his head while bit tugging on Time’s armor’s hem. “No. You’ve upheld higher body temperature to fend off the cold of the ocean water. I’m not going to allow you to overdo your magic and end up overheated.” He stated out firmly. “We’re safe here, right?”
Time sighed bit in defeat but he nodded. “That’s what the forest tells.” He confirmed while still taking a check around. “Let me at least start a fire for us.”
“Nah, I’d rather you start to get that armor off and get it dried as well as you can.” The Veteran countered calmly. “Besides, I don’t want to alert the possible beasts to our location. Not when you’d be the only one to fight.”
The one eyed male snorted and shook his head. “The monsters won’t get into here. It’s too thick and hard to get through to waste their efforts in it.” He pointed out before his expression darkened. “And if they did come through, I’d rip them to pieces before they’d even realize what’s happened.”  The Specialist was bit startled of the rough claim. His brother almost smirked. “The only way they’d get to here is by crashing through and that would mean them harming the forest which, as you certainly know, will NOT be allowed without punishment. Whatever the beast would be, I’d kill it within seconds. I’d be that raged at then.”
Legend gulped once and nearly shrank. “Um… I… I’ve never seen you do anything of such… Well….”
The Chain’s leader sighed heavily and sat down. “You eight are my boys. All you guys need to do is to explain.” He shrugged. “Besides, none of you would harm a forest willingly. Things just happen sometimes.” He explained before bit smiling. “Not to mention the fact that sometimes forest fires are ways for the area to re-grow in healthier way. Ash is good material for plants to grow from.”
The younger Hero nodded slowly in understanding. “Anyway, you honestly should start to get that armor off and cleaned. Even that Hookshot of yours.”
“Maybe…” Time half sighed before bit grinning. “And it’s a Longshot, by the way.” He stated out before giving another sigh but getting up. Yet, instead of starting to get the armor off, he moved closer to the forest and touched the closest tree’s bark and closed his eye to listen. Legend stayed silent to give him the needed moment for the conversation he  needed to get done with the forest around them.
Eventually the one eyed male nodded and moved to smaller and younger trees. He began to pull the huge leaves off of them before spreading them to the sand. “I got more than just my armor and the Longshot to clean. Everything’s wet and in need of cleaning.” He explained as he created a matt of sorts to where he began to get his gear onto.
“Wish I could help…” The Veteran half whispered before sighing and shaking his head. “So, we’re probably gonna be here for whole night, right?” He half queried.
“Pretty certainly, yeah.” Time answered while for once hating the amount of stuff he carried along. It all needed to be cleaned and fixed which meant one hell of a work to be done.
“So, as you’re the forest expert, what’s the way out of here besides the ocean?”
The Chain’s leader chuckled and grinned a bit. “You’re the veteran of our group. Check around and figure it out.”
“You’re not gonna tell me, are you?” The said Veteran deadpanned.
The oldest Link’s grin only widened. “Only if you can’t figure it out.”
Legend groaned a bit and shook his head. Yet, he couldn’t swipe away the slight smile at hearing his brother laugh a bit. “Alright, challenge accepted.” He told firmly and began to really look around. Soon he grinned and pointed to a nice sized hole in the woods. “I’d try that.”
Time glanced at the shown road before already fighting his smirk down. “Sure, go for it if you wish to end up having your clothes ripped into thorns and end up into dead-end without room to turn around or look where you back while trying to get out of there.”
The Weapon Specialist huffed and shot a mock-glare at the Chain’s leader. “Fine, so wrong road…” He fake-grumbled while looking around again. “How about that road, then?” He called out while noticing different kind of hole within the branches.
The one eyed male checked the pointed spot and shook his head. “Bit better, sure. You’d still end up into dead-end, though.” He replied calmer while pulling the Longshot straight so he could soon enough start to work in getting all the loops fixed.
Legend slumped but he kept searching for a road out of the area. “Do you want to keep trying or do I give you a hint?” The Chain’s leader half offered while keeping his notion in his work of emptying his pockets and pouches.
“Hint would be nice.” The younger Hero muttered. Yet, he was actually enjoying of their little game of sorts.
“Search for other life forms.” Time simply told while being certain of his boy frowning at that claim. Soon enough there was a slight gasp as the younger male caught a notion of a squirrel. “If other creatures can come here, they also can get out too. And so we can use their pathway to leave.” The one eyed male pointed out the very simple fact and his boy simply nodded.
Just when the Chain’s leader had finally managed to get all of his gear onto the leaves, Legend suddenly threw a rock into the armor’s metal. “Hey!” Time snapped while turning around before already frowning as the younger Hero desperately showed to stay silent.
“Something’s in the forest!” The Veteran swiftly signed while already returning his gaze into the thick and hard to get through being walls of sort. His leader frowned and sharpened his hearing. Soon he caught the sound of yelps, growls and clearly being curses even though the voice and words were unrecognizable.
Time stood up slowly and moved quietly to the closest tree. He touched the bark of the plant while closing his eye and asking for information. Soon he started to grin which only got the Specialist to frown. “Our brothers.” He signed before already moving closer to the area where the ruckus was coming from. Yet, he soon returned his bit startled gaze into the Hylian whom still was in the form of a merman. “I can try and send them away if you don’t want them to see you like this.” He offered while knowing the others were worried sick by now as the two of them had been gone for whole day and bit more.
Legend sighed a bit but he shook his head with slight smile. “it’s okay. Better get this revelation out once and for all.” He replied as calmly as he could.
The one eyed male frowned in worry. “You sure?”
“Just help them through before they do more damage.” The Veteran signed with a slight grin.
The Chain’s leader huffed and rolled his eye before nodding. After that he returned to the wall of the forest. “I’ll fetch them. “ He signed swiftly and gave assuring smile.
“NO!” Legend nearly snapped with bit frantic look. Yet, he nearly immediately flinched and slumped while turning his gaze off. Time frowned in worry before going over to his boy and gently laying his hand to the younger one’s shoulder. The youngster sighed heavily and raised his bit fearful gaze up. “Don’t leave me. Please.” He nearly begged. “I… I-I can’t do a thing in this form…” He explained with tears threatening to get into his eyes.
The taller male sighed sorrowfully and dropped down to his knees as he pulled the most experienced Hero into his arms. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” He whispered firmly while ignoring the ruckus from the forest and just concentrating into his scared boy as he whispered reassuring words.
“I’m okay now.” Legend eventually replied quietly while pulling off. “Sorry. I just… I’m sorry.” He apologized while hating his own form at the moment.
“Don’t apologize. I was quite well useless underneath the surface. You kept me alive there.” Time countered and gently kissed the Veteran’s forehead. “I won’t leave the area but I’ll guide the others.” He told while carefully pulling away while giving the other one a chance to stop him if needed. Yet, the Specialist seemed to have gathered himself back together as he simply nodded firmly. “I’ll be right in your sight whole time.” The one eyed male promised before he returned to his earlier place.
The oldest Hero gently placed his hand against the tree’s bark and requested for rights to talk to his boys and guide them to this area. A gentle wind went past the area and rustled the leaves as an answer. Time nodded and began to guide the other Heroes through the maze like area. He grinned slightly as he very clearly startled the others quite fully before the seven swordsmen began to follow his directions. He also gave a warning of the Veteran having a slight issue going on and that he would very much prefer it if the others didn’t comment on it.
With the aid considering the right road, rest of the Chain was soon in the same area as their missing brothers. Their delight of reunion soon died due to three simple things: Legend’s merman form, both of them being wet with seawater and Time’s seawater wet gear being laid out onto leaves.
The Chain’s leader noticed the way the gazes of his boys took in the information. “Y-yeah… We had bit of a situation…” He chuckled nervously while scratching the back of his head. Yet, very soon he flinched roughly at Four’s scream:
“THE FUCK YOU’VE DONE TO YOUR ARMOR?!”The rough glare was shot right at the one eyed male whom very clearly shrank while unconsciously throwing in pathetic puppy-dog-eye. “DO YOU HAVE ANY OF IDEA WHAT SEAWATER DOES TO METAL?! SERIOUSLY!! WHAT THE FUCK, TIME?!”
“SHUT THE HELL UP, FOUR!!” Legend suddenly screamed in near rage while sitting up from the half laying position. “Would you rather had Time dead then?!” He snarled out while glaring at the Smithy.
Time flinched again and gulped once. “Uh… J-just calm down, Vet.” He half begged. “Four’s got a point. I—“ He started before his big brother talked right over him with quite commanding voice.
“Sprite.” Warriors called to shut the one eyed male. “What the hell does Veteran mean by his words?”
The Chain’s leader backed away by a step while trying to find his voice and words to speak. Yet, he only ended up gulping several times as everyone was staring at him while waiting for answers.
“I mean the fact that we ended up face to face with too many hard monsters to deal with.” Legend started while snatching the notion off of Time. His expression was rough as he looked around his brothers. “We had to run and ended up to a cliff. I wasn’t going to leave Time to fight alone against those beasts so he did the only thing he could. We jumped into the ocean. The rest of the day went submerged while searching for a place to get safely out of the water.”
The one eyed male sighed and shrugged a bit. “The fault’s mine. The forest we had the camp in was safe and sound. On our check around before breakfast I noticed some old ruins. Stupidly, I chose we’d check them off before we’d get you all to there.” He snorted and shook his head while feeling bit angry at himself. “I fucking ended up stepping on Lynel’s tail. Didn’t see it sleeping in the freaking rubble. Ended up fighting it and before I could’ve killed it, its comrades came over. Besides the half-dead one, there were three more Lynels, seven Lizalfos, five Moblins, a whole bunch of Bokoblins and out of the sound of metal there clearly was coming an Iron Knuckle, Dark Nut or Dark Hammer too. Bit too much for the two of us.”
The Chain was shocked into silence as they stared at their leader before already glancing between him and Legend. “Anyway, if someone could help Veteran to get dried, I’d be grateful of that. Other than that, I got my gear to check, clean and fix.” Time stated out while feeling bit too ashamed to look at anyone as he started to make his way towards the drying gear of his.
Suddenly the war Hero moved right in front of his little brother and stopped him. “So, let me get this straight.” He almost groaned. “You and Vet haven’t eaten since, what, two nights ago. You ended up fighting a Lynel. And you two have been underwater how long now?”
Time gulped and gave a sheepish look. “Um… Pretty much accurate.”
“Sprite.” The Captain’s voice was warning as he looked at the oldest Link with that look of a big brother.
The one eyed Hero slumped a bit as he gulped again. “Uh… K-kinda like, um…” He stammered while not wanting to give out the answer. Yet, his big brother’s expression got him to shut his eye and bit tense up like waiting for a strike. “Nineteen hours, twenty-six minutes and seven seconds.”
Warriors just stared in full shock at the taller male. Slowly he turned his gaze into Legend. “I kept fetching air for him.” The Veteran stated out firmly before giving bit of a glare to Time’s back. “He was up for sending me to find a safe place to surface which would’ve meant for him drowning. That I was not going to allow.”
The war Hero groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Damn it, Sprite.” He growled before picking up his big brother’s part on full force. “Go sit down.” He commanded firmly and bit roughly.
Time shook his head. “No.” He countered but somehow he just wasn’t able to really throw in his leadership as at any other time. “I gotta handle my gear. It’s—“ He started before bit jerking as the Captain silenced him by pressing his fingers over his mouth.
“Would you be accepting that kind of words from any one of us in this kind of situation?” The Chain’s leader’s second-in-command queried with slight unintended anger within his voice. The one eyed male felt himself shrink as he shook his head. “Then why the fuck would you think we’d accept such from you?” The war Hero continued firmly.
The oldest Link wasn’t ready to accept his defeat. “It’s my gear. My responsibility. Besides, I’m the leader in here. I should—” He mumbled against his big brother’s hand.
“Do you trust me?” Warriors countered before his little brother could finish talking and Time jerked a bit before nodding firmly. “Do you trust the others?” He continued and got the one eyed male even more shocked.
“What the hell kind of question is that?!” Time snapped roughly. “Of course I tru—“ He started before shutting up all of sudden. “Oh…” He half whispered as he swiftly averted his gaze back into the ocean with his ears drooping a bit while blushing in shame.
“Yeah, oh.” The Captain repeated for him before calming down a bit. “Let us do this for you, little brother.” He half requested while gently turning the older male around to face where Legend was at the moment. “You’d do this kind of thing for us and wouldn’t take a no for an answer. So, please, go sit down.” He gave a gentle jolt to his little brother to get him to move.
The Chain’s leader sighed bit heavily but he nodded and walked over to the Veteran. “I guess I ended up usurped by my own big brother.” He mused with a slight grin as he sat down. Legend tried to suppress his chuckle but he was grinning.
Soon enough Wild came over with two Flame Spears. “Just keep them close and it’ll aid you to dry up.” He advised before moving to different spot and beginning to set up a place for a fire so he could start very late meal.
“Champion, you got any spare clothes? I probably should rather wash up and get changed before drying up. The seawater’s not the nicest thing to have on.” Time inquired while getting up. “Do you need to wash up rather than get dried, Vet?” He looked at the merman with questioning look. “There’s a small waterfall of fresh water and a pool if needed.”
Legend shook his head with a slight smile. “Nah, I’m good. I just need to dry up and the seawater will be gone. It’s part of the curse magic with the item.”
“Lucky you.” The one eyed male half muttered. “I only got that luck if I use Mikau’s mask before I get submerged.” He stated out before starting to head towards the forest. “I’ll be back soon.” He called out while grabbing the spare clothes on his way out of the small leafy place of sorts.
“Do you need company?!” Warriors shouted after him with bit of concern in his voice.
“I’ll be fine! The forest’s my guard and guide!” The oldest Hero called back with his voice already getting muffled by the forest.
Time didn’t take longer than what it took to get things done. He thanked Wild for the Flame Spear before starting to put his washed clothes and such close to the fireplace to get dried. After that he bit sighed and moved over to where the others were working with his gear. “Should these rather be taken over to the waterfall area to get cleaned easier?” He inquired while fighting himself so he wouldn’t start to aid with the work.
Four sighed bit heavily in sorrow and stood up. “No, we got this but…” He started before tad hesitating until taking a deep breath. “I’m sorry, Time. I should’ve known better. I just… I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that.” He apologized while feeling hellish of having not thought through what the reasons for Time’s gear to be covered in seawater could have been.
The Chain’s leader sighed a bit and crouched down to hug the shortest Hero. “It’s fine.” He whispered while scratching the rest of the words as he didn’t want to end up into argument about the situation and seawatered gear of his. “All’s fine. We’re all safe and sound. With your expertise my gear’s going to be in better condition than they were before getting submerged into the ocean.” He continued and gave a slight grin and gentle jolt.
The Smithy chuckled slightly and nodded. “You can count on that.” He promised firmly before returning to clean his leader’s gear and supervise the work the others were doing. The tallest male nodded and returned to the Veteran’s side.
Eventually the Weapon Specialist sighed in relief as his normal form returned. Time had been more than willing to aid with the drying but his boy had kept declining while telling he didn’t want him ending up overheating by the action. Just as the one eyed male was going to get up to return the Flame Spear back to Wild, the Chain’s cook came over with two different meals which were their personal favorites and hot chocolates. “Enjoy. You two had rough day yesterday.” He commented calmly while picking his weapon back into his Slate.
Legend stretched once he was done with his food. He grinned a bit when he called out to Twilight. “Hey, Rancher!”
“Yeah?” The ranch hand replied while pulling off of his work.
“You want to help a brother out?” The Veteran queried while trying to keep his mischievousness off of his voice but failing quite well.
Twilight bit frowned but he nodded. “Yeah, of course. That is, if I’m capable of.” He replied while glancing at the others.
“Your wolf pelt and Wolfie for petting, thanks.” Legend stated out firmly. The Rancher blinked in shock and opened and closed his mouth few times. He glanced again at the others as there still was quite a lot of work to be done with their leader’s gear. Yet, Four mouthed one simple word to him: “Go.”
Time just smiled fondly as his blood relative came over while taking the wolf pelt off. He watched as the younger Hero aided to get the pelt well around the Weapon Specialist before turning into Wolfie. The canine yelped a bit when Legend suddenly grabbed him and snuggled close to the soft fur of the creature. The wolf huffed once while rolling his eyes but he very quickly calmed down and took a better place so he could be more of aid and comfort for his brother.
Suddenly the Chain’s leader yelped and flinched slightly as something heavy but soft was dropped onto him. “You don’t need to even ask, Sprite.” Warriors mused fondly while aiding to get the scarf better around his little brother. Time relaxed and smiled a bit while snuggling into the warmth and softness of the fabric. Yet, he soon yelped again as the war Hero sat them both down. “Get some rest. You both need that.”
The one eyed male was up for arguing back but he just ended up yawning. He snuggled close to his big brother and closed his eye. “Fine.” He mumbled while finally calming down.
The rest of the Chain continued to go through Time’s gear. They set up night watches even though it didn’t fully seem like necessary. Still, Four was one of the few whom stayed up whole night just to clean, fix and checking that everything was going to be perfectly all right with their leader’s things.
It was late in the day when Time and Legend finally stirred. Neither was too happy of the late waking but they also understood the situation. During the lunch the seven Heroes explained what they had been doing at the earlier day when the duo hadn’t come back.
At first, obviously, they hadn’t really worried. When the breakfast started to be ready, they finally put three teams up. Two of two person teams while the rest stayed at the camp. The duos started off from same spot but left to round the perimeters to opposite ways. Still, they didn’t really worry while knowing and trusting their brothers’ skills fully and thoroughly.
Yet, when the two teams came back without having found their missing duo, the worry began to rise. They quickly ate, undid the camp and had Twilight change forms. The wolf started to track down the road their leader and Weapon Specialist had taken. Yet, oddly enough, when they left the forest, the canine lost the track. Though, bigger notion of problem was the scent of monsters.
The Chain noticed the ruins and debated about whether or not to go check them out. Nonetheless, they were pretty certain if their brothers had gone to there, they would’ve come back by now. They couldn’t be that foolish to enter underground ways while the rest of their team wasn’t far to be fetched.
They kept notion in their surroundings while beginning to plan things out. Twilight, Hyrule and Warriors were certain that their brothers were safe and sound but they weren’t fully capable of pinpointing where they were. Still, the good notion was the lack of blood which meant that no-one had gotten hurt at the given spot.
As before, they separated into three groups and began to check the island through. To Wind the area was new and unknown so he couldn’t name the place or its placement on the map he had. Yet, he was eager to get it mapped even though he couldn’t yet find out if he had missed an island during his two quests or if it was actually further off and outside the maps he already had.
Before leaving Wild shared some simple snacks to the two other teams in case they wouldn’t meet for a long while. After that they picked their directions and started their search. Due to the monsters, they couldn’t exactly start to shout out their brothers’ names as they weren’t yet up for facing the beasts. They’d fight if it was necessary but it was better to search without attracting unwanted notion.
Each of the groups had one member whom could, hopefully, eventually lead the others to right place. Twilight was with Wild as they took a better check on the forest before continuing forward to the other side while heading towards the east side edge of the island. Warriors and Wind headed off to south. Hyrule, Sky and Four picked north. Both teams decided to head towards Twilight and Wild’s place once they would’ve checked their own areas. On that way they would check the west part together at later time. On their way they kept bit mapping the area for Wind with Wild having the best chance for such as his Slate just created the map as he walked forward.
Eventually, when the sun had gone down and the darkness arrived, the Chain had gotten back together. They contemplated for a while about whether or not they should actually create a camp and continue their searching in the morning. The whole situation was worrisome even thought the trio closest to Time with one of them close to Legend told that the duo was alive and moving but they were unable to pinpoint their placement unlike any time before. It was odd and bit fearsome for the trio as they had gotten used to being capable of finding their leader just by following that strong tugging feeling of home and love. Now that feeling felt muffled and restricted.
In the end, they chose to continue searching. The sky seemed to stay clear so the bright stars would be enough of light for them. Their walk was done in silence with everyone having fallen into their own thoughts and worries. The trio desperately tried to get a better hold of the feeling to follow but it stayed out of their grasp.
After having gotten back to the forest they had camped the earlier night, the trio of Warriors, Hyrule and Twilight suddenly stopped walking. The others were bit startled of the situation before pure hope filled them and they looked at the trio while praying they finally knew where to go so that they’d get back together with the missing duo. The three Heroes closed their eyes and tried to stay calm as they allowed the feeling to give them the correct direction. Then, simultaneously, they pointed to same direction. They knew that the Traveler certainly was tracking the Veteran as two already were searching for Time so that was the reason they knew the duo had to be together which certainly was a great news to them.
Without hesitation or questions, the seven Heroes already ran as they wished to be reunited with Time and Legend as soon as possible. Even Sky put everything into his running to stay in everyone’s pace. The seven Links scowled when they reached the forest that quite nearly looked like a solid wall to them. “Of course Time finds a place like this…” Wind almost whined out.
“Well, think it from the other side.” Warriors countered while already searching for a way through. “It’s as safe as can be. Nothing gets through it without him and Legend hearing the attempt.” The others nodded in agreement while looking around to find the right place to enter the area. The next few hours for them went by trying to get through the forest to reach their brothers.
The oldest Link put notion into the fact that his boys didn’t mention Tetra or her ship. He glanced at Legend and saw him having noticed the same thing. They both felt bit grateful of having not gone to check the ship after all. “So, did you crash with any monsters on your way?” Time asked instead once the seven boys of his had finished explaining things.
“Just some Keese but nothing of else.” Sky answered and the others nodded in agreement.
“Alright. Here’s the plan.” The Chain’s leader started calmly. “We go together back to those ruins and handle those beasts off. If we’re lucky, that’ll be enough to bring the portal open. If not, then we just gotta figure out a way out of this island.”
“Can we map this island before we leave if the portal comes up?” The Sailor inquired with bit hopeful voice.
“Sure. I and Legend already, in a way, mapped things from underwater from, um… Here towards west, I’d say.” The one eyed male told with a grin.
“Safer mapping would’ve been better.” Wind deadpanned but he soon smiled lopsidedly at Time’s chuckle.
“Agreed.” The one eyed male nodded firmly before getting up. “Alright, let’s get going. The quicker we deal with the beasts, the better.” He half commanded and the others nodded in agreement. “Just follow me.” He told while starting to lead his brothers through much safer road out of the small leafy cave and back into the main area of the island.
The nine Heroes made their way into the ruins but this time the dangerous creatures weren’t hiding. There was no planning as the Chain just dashed forward while screaming out their battle cries and colliding with the beasts.
The battle was rough and hard with neither side backing away even one bit. The beasts were mad of these nine having come to their territory and harmed one of their own. The Links were just doing what every Hero did and were up for clearing the area of the monsters.
Yet, lucky for the Chain, the battle slowly turned into their favor as Time was swinging his Biggoron Sword and taking down the Lynels with the occasional aid from the others. The Iron Knuckle was slow and the nine swordsmen kept their distance to it while dealing with the other creatures first. After that, together, they attacked the well armored thing.
Once the last creation of Darkness fell, the portal opened up. Yet, Time held his promise of allowing Wind to map the island before they’d leave forward. Luckily, though, that didn’t mean walking the place around before zigzagging here and there at middle to get all done. Wild picked the Sailor up before already soaring off into the sky with Revali’s Gale. While the youngest Hero gasped and enjoyed of the scenery, the Champion took few swift pictures to get the island fully mapped. After that he let them be on a free fall for a moment before bringing out the Paraglider. Yet, that was when the pirate-Hero pulled off just to show off his own skills with Deku Leaf.
When everyone was back together and Wind had gained the new map, the Chain left the island behind through the portal. They had already checked and fixed the wounds they had gained from the battle but luckily those had been quite minor in the end. They all felt quite relieved when they came out into the Chosen Hero’s era and to Skyloft. At least that meant they could have few safe days with good night’s sleep in actual beds. Though, unlike what they had managed to do back at the island, they now very much piled on both Time and Legend for the first two nights at the island in the sky.

Story for prompt # 3
“I have no idea what you’re meaning but if that’s what you believe in then I doubt I have a way to change your mind.”
Summary: When Time is reunited with his big brother again, he’s desperate to get the younger male to remember him. As his attempts are shot down one after the other, he’s starting to lose his hope of managing. Yet, when they enter the Captain’s era, he’s trying for one last time…. Only to end up being forced to reveal the only proof he has of being whom he claims. Proof he seriously did NOT want to come out.
CW: Hurt feelings, kidnapping, rough beating, death by arrows, near death by slicing one’s throat, blood, black magic used on blood, arrow to head, drugging
Notion: I’ve done few times by now about Time trying NOT to be recognized by Warriors as the war Hero’s little brother. So, for a change, I decided to do things the other way around.

Big brother
The moment he saw the guy in the forest, he knew. “Captain!” The word slipped out of his mouth with such enthusiasm and glee that he even surprised himself with it.
The swordsman jerked as he turned towards the one whom had called him by his rank. He frowned as the one eyed male came towards him with a wide and happy smile on his face that clearly went all the way into that sole eye of his. It was odd and bit freaky to him. He stayed to his place while trying to be prepared for anything.
“Dear Deities…” The well armored guy whispered with a slight shake of his head. “I didn’t think I’d ever see you again.” He half whispered while trying to blink the tears out of his eyes even though the other one stayed shut whole time.
“Excuse me but… How do you know me?” The Captain queried while making sure the distance between them stayed. He had had enough of traitors he had let too close to try and take his life. He had learned from those turns well enough.
“W-wha…?” The guy before the war Hero half stammered with frowning. “Oh, come on. You gotta recognize me.” He nearly pleaded before giving a slight lopsided grin and a shrug. “Sure, it’s been couple of decades for me while it clearly can’t have been than few years for you since the war. And yea, I know I got the markings and lost an eye but still…”
The man with royal blue scarf shook his head while feeling entirely wary of the guy before him. “Still having no idea who the fuck you are.” He growled out while being ready to go for his sword.
The one eyed male jerked in shock before dropping his gaze down. The other one waited while watching the situation unfold before him. Eventually the man sighed heavily and raised his gaze up. “Alright, we can leave our shared past for later but…” He started and slowly raised his left hand up. “We’re the same. Heroes of Hyrule. The Triforce of Courage confirms that.” He told as firmly as he could while showing the golden marking in his hand. “And, well, we share the same name.” He shrugged a bit before nodding towards his side. “Come. There’s seven others of our kind.”
“Our kind?” The Captain queried while frowning. He was aware of the marking of the Triforce of Courage being with the Heroes of Hyrule. He had gained it at the start of the war and he knew of the other Heroes through the legends.
“Yeah. The legendary Heroes of Hyrule.” The one eyed male replied with a mischievous grin. “Great, huh?”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
“WARS!” The nickname slipped out of Time’s mouth before he could stop it as he dashed into the situation. He inwardly flinched as the Captain jerked at that one word. Yet, before he could’ve started to bark the one eyed male down for using a word that didn’t belong to him, he gasped in shock. He hadn’t noticed the Moblin sneaking up on him as he had been busy with the Lizalfos before him.
The Chain’s leader came right between and growled as he blocked the strong strike with his shield. He had brought out the Iron Magic to keep himself to his place so he’d be more ready for the impact. As the beast drew its club back up for another strike, Time quickly changed his weapons into the Biggoron Sword and attacked.
Once the threats were cleared and the oldest Link took a check around in the other battles, he gasped as the war Hero yanked him backwards. “Don’t you dare to call me by that name again.” He snarled with rough glare in his gaze. Time just gulped once and nodded in understanding.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Warriors held back his growl and rolled his eyes. The Old Man was persistent with the claims of them having known long ago. Sure, by now he understood that the portals were jumping between eras and timelines while going back and forth between future and past. Still, he wasn’t up for giving up on finding his little brother in correct age. “I have no idea what you’re meaning but if that’s what you believe in then I doubt I have a way to change your mind.” He finally told while hoping it would be the end of the current, mostly one sided, conversation between them.
Time flinched a bit while taking the hint. So far all of the memories he knew to have shared with the younger male had been shot down. He had even once asked if Sprite was actually still in the Captain’s era. The rough and pained look the war Hero had shot at him then and there had gotten the one eyed male to simply nod in understanding and leave the topic off for the time being.
Now he had been given slight acknowledgement but no confirmation. It felt even worse as it felt like his memories were entirely questioned. It was like back in his own era where the people thought he was just telling stories or plainly lying to them whenever things that were true to him but never happened to the people of his era came up. Those times killed him little by little and made him wonder if he had just made things up. Dreamt it all and just desperately wanting it to be real and hence believing it as such.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
When the portal brought them into the Captain’s era, Time’s hope rose up again. He could show places and tell stories that only Sprite could know. He barely was able to contain his feelings and actions to command the others off into dealing with the restocking, information gathering and booking a stay at the Inn before he already quite well dragged the war Hero with him.
The one eyed male knew that he had one way to prove his identity to the male that once, so long ago, had been his older brother. Yet, he also knew he would never show that scar as he was certain that the Captain hadn’t let go of his guilt of having not been there back then. He was not going to bring that feeling back up.
Sometimes it was hard not to touch the scar bit below his neck, right between his shoulders. That hit had almost cost him his life had Proxi not been fast enough to fetch the closest healing fairy over. It had happened only few days after the war had been won. The reasons he had given back then for why he didn’t go with his big brother to celebrate the victory… He had never revealed those as things changed.
With Warriors not going along with the Chain’s leader’s memories, the one eyed male slowly started to fall silent. His last option had crashed and he slumped a bit. “You’re pretty much done with my shit by now, aren’t you?” He asked and tried not to flinch at the sharp nod and glare the other one gave him.
“I would prefer it if you would already shut up about a past that is not yours.” The Captain snarled out while turning his almost raged gaze off of the older male. He didn’t take any satisfaction in the older Link’s slump and averting of his gaze.
“I…” Time started before gulping once. “I understand. I… I-I’ll leave you alone now.” He nearly mumbled as he stopped walking. He hesitated for a moment before taking a step backwards. “T-tell the others I’ll join later. Just… N-need a moment…” He whispered until turning around.
The Captain didn’t even glance behind him as he continued to walk forward. He felt slightly bit grateful of having finally gotten the one eyed male off of his case. He didn’t see how the older Link’s hand moved to his neck to trace the scar until pulling the tunic upwards to hide the marking. Unfortunately, someone else did notice the action and began to follow the Chain’s leader.
Time was too deep in his own mind that he failed to notice the danger that slowly gathered behind him. The quiet “It’s him.” went right past his understanding while failing to recognize the voice. He only realized the situation when his instincts screamed at him about someone being way too close for his comfort. At then it was already too late as he felt the stab of an injection and getting something struck inside of him.
The one eyed male turned around swiftly but his gaze was already getting foggy. He staggered backwards while hearing the cruel snickering around him. “Sleep, Sprite.” Was the last thing he heard before he fell unconscious and crumbled into the ground.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
“Captain!”
Warriors inwardly groaned as he heard one of the local Knights calling to him. He really hadn’t been up for dealing with his own era’s problems at the moment. The Chain’s leader had brought out too many painful memories right back up into the surface. He would’ve needed a moment longer alone to gather himself to be capable of being the Hero his own era and his traveling companions considered him as.
“There’s a hostage situation at an alley.” The Knight told after having saluted once the war Hero had turned around to face him.
“I’m sure you and your team are more than capable of dealing with the situation correctly.” Warriors tried to hold back the edge from his voice but it still ended more as annoyed than commanding.
“We could, Sir, but they requested you personally.” The Knight explained.
The Captain sighed heavily before nodding. “Show the way then.” He commanded and began to follow the Knight. He really hated it when he was asked by all kinds of bad guys the kingdom still had lurking in its corners. As long as he was in his own era, there wouldn’t be a day when one bastard asked for him specifically. At least he had gained several interesting months away from dealing with these assholes while he had been traveling with the group of Hyrule’s Heroes around the eras and timelines.
Warriors was prepared to deal with normal situation with some unfortunate person having ended up as a pawn for the bad guys or then a ruse of someone faking as victim only to get close to him. Yet, he stopped dead on his tracks in shock when he saw the Chain’s leader. This he had not waited for.
Time was on his knees with his hands chained together behind his back. He seemed pretty roughed up which meant he hadn’t gone down without a fight. The guy behind him had yanked his head backwards by handful of hair. The other hand of the one eyed male’s captor held a knife right by the oldest Link’s throat.
“Let. Him. Go.” The Captain growled with fully commanding voice. His rough glare was in the guy behind the tallest Link. “I only give you this one warning.” The threatened while hoping his fellow Hero was as resourceful as the kid he kept claiming to have been.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Time woke up in cold floor with his hands chained behind his back. He tried to stay silent as he slowly opened his eye to figure out the situation. Unfortunately, someone had clearly been waiting for him to awaken. “Finally out of the dreamland, I see.” The words were wicked and it took a moment from the one eyed male to realize he recognized the voice. He snapped his startled gaze into the guy and gulped as his captor saw to have been known.
“Glad you haven’t forgotten the one whom quite nearly managed to take your life.” The man chuckled and shrugged. “Should have caught that fairy too. Then I would have succeeded.” He told while standing up and nodding to someone whom was at the moment outside the Chain’s leader’s sight. Yet, soon enough the people walked into his line of view.
Time flinched slightly when one of the three guys was roughly forced to his knees. The man was gagged and tied while clearly having been beaten very cruelly. “You know how Blood Magic works?” Other one of the two still standing guys asked while admiring the knife in his hold.
The oldest Link decided to stay silent while just glaring at the men around him. He really hated what the whole situation was indicating towards. He knew Yiga could pull out brilliant disguises but, luckily, such wasn’t yet in the hands of these traitors. They needed black magic to create the disguise illusions and one of such way was by the Blood Magic.
The Chain’s leader was forced up from the floor. That action suddenly brought in the very fact that whatever had been injected into him was still working and preventing him from fighting back. He growled as he realized he wouldn’t be given a chance to try and escape as the chains were removed. He unconsciously flinched as his arm was roughly yanked into sight. He gasped as the knife slashed at his wrist.
Time fought against the tremble while watching his blood being poured into a glass. “Can’t let our source of illusion to die.” The guy mused wickedly as he bandaged the cut with a cloth that had been dipped in red potion to heal the wound. After that he began to mutter the needed spell in a language that was unknown to their captives.
Soon enough the blood in the glass began to sparkle with black and purple hues. The guy picked it up and another pulled their other victim’s gag down. After that the cursed drink was forced down the man’s throat. He fought and struggled against the foul thing but enough still went to where the traitors around him and Time wanted it to go.
“Enjoy of the show, Sprite. It’ll start soon enough.” The lead traitor smirked as he moved out of the ring of magic. The enchanter and his comrade pulled the other victim up and dragged him out of the room. “I have my men around the streets. You will see your brother in a moment.” The man mused while calmly pacing around and keeping his gaze in the one eyed male.
Time tried to stay calm and fight the injected stuff out of him. He hated the fact of the enchanter having chained his hands after he had finished with his work. Still, he kept trying to get his body to move as he wished so he could try to get free and out of there.
Suddenly the Chain’s leader yelped in pain as something grabbed his hair and yanked his head backwards. He gasped as he felt the cold blade by his throat. He forced himself to try and stay calm as he slowly opened his eye. Yet, he flinched a bit when he saw Warriors standing there.
It took a moment from the one eyed male to realize how ethereal everything looked around him. It was like he would’ve been in an alley even though he was far from there. And he knew the Captain wasn’t there with him. This sight was given to him through the Blood Magic that had been created through his blood. The other victim was certainly looking like him with the fact of having been beaten unlike him. Yet, it didn’t take away how real everything felt at then and there.
When the war Hero’s words came cold and commanding, Time realized he could talk as much as he heard the people speak in the alleyway. They would hear him as he heard them. Yet, what kept his mouth shut was the fact there was a knife to the other guy’s throat. He wasn’t going to risk the other male’s life just by giving hints about the actual situation.
“I don’t think you are in the position of making claims, Captain.” The bad guy chuckled cruelly while clearly smirking at the situation. “See if you’re fast enough, Captain, to save your so called little brother.” The guy smirked as he took the knife away from his victim’s throat. Yet, instantly afterwards he forced his captive’s head forward while with the other hand, while holding the knife, yanked the shirt down to reveal the scar.
Time gasped at the rough movement. Yet, his eye flashed wide open as he felt the hold on his tunic. He flinched as he heard the war Hero inhale in shock. He forced his gaze up into the Captain. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. The Captain has proven my claims wrong. I am not the one you think I am. I got the scar when I fought against my own shadow.” He stated out as he couldn’t stay silent anymore.
The man snorted and shook his head. Without further words, he yanked his captive’s head backwards again and sliced the throat. “NO!”
Time gasped and crashed to the floor. He coughed and gasped for air while knowing it wasn’t him who was dying. The war Hero’s scream was the last thing that made its way into his ears but he knew for certain that the Captain had dashed forward the second the slash had been made. It took a long while before he got his breathing back into order.
“Rough, ain’t it?” The guy in the room smirked while approaching his captive. “Don’t worry. You’ll be alive when the Captain arrives. I want him to see you die for second time. Until then, though…” He mused cruelly before he already landed the first kick into Time’s abdomen. “I’ll be having some fun with you.”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Warriors screamed in rage as he dashed into the alley. He punched the guy HARD and knocked him out of count by that one strike. “Arrest him!” He commanded while having already knelt down next to the dying man. It took few seconds from him to realize that this wasn’t Time but some other unfortunate fool. Yet, before he had a chance to ask around, there already was a fairy set free and the small being flew right to the man.
The moment the man was out of the danger of dying, the Captain yanked the gag off from the guy’s mouth. “Where were you held?!” He demanded and ended up growling as the guy simply shrugged.
“I… I-I was knocked out…” The guy stammered while still feeling entirely freaked out of having almost died. “I… I-I’m sorry. I can’t help…”
The war Hero cursed beneath his breath while standing up. Couple of the Knights came to his place to free the victim of the situation. Yet, Warriors didn’t let them leave the alley.
“Find my team and bring them here. Especially the one whom has the wolf pelt.” The Captain commanded and several of the Knights saluted before they dashed out of there. Sure, the Chain wasn’t underneath his command but the others didn’t need to know that at the moment. Yet, as he couldn’t do anything else than wait, he fought against the need of pacing around.
It felt like eternity before the Chain came to there with two of the Knights. “Captain, what’s—“ Wild started but he didn’t get further than that before Warriors already talked over him.
“We need Wolfie.” The war Hero commanded as his gaze was locked into Twilight. “Time’s captured and we need to find him before they kill him. Get Wolfie to sniff that guy and track his road down. There should be the captured guy’s scent along too.”
The moment the seven Heroes heard that their leader had been kidnapped, their demeanor changed dramatically. The Rancher simply gave a firm nod. He glanced once at the Knights, the victim of the situation and the captured bad guy. “Here?” He half queried while raising an eyebrow.
“We need your Dark World Form as Veteran calls it.” Warriors simply replied with a firm nod.
“Alright. Sorry for the freak-out then.” Twilight half apologized before taking a deep breath and touching the Shadow Crystal. The people around him gasped in shock and fright when he transformed into the gigantic wolf. He shook his body once before he calmly moved over to the two guys to get their scents. After that he began to sniff around to find the right road. The moment he caught the trail, he barked couple of times before already starting to lead the way.
“Clear things in here. We got a rescue mission at our hands.” Warriors commanded as he and the rest of the Heroes left after Wolfie. They ran as fast as they could to give the canine the chance to move swifter as it tracked the right place down.
Soon enough they found the right place but the Captain stopped his comrades from going inside. “They’re wanting me.” He told and swiftly shushed the others down by sharp move of his hand. “They’re traitors from the war but…” He explained while already planning things out. “Round the place. See if there’s any other ways in. If you can’t find other roads, come after me at then.” He commanded while glancing at the seven Heroes. “Wild, climb up and see if you can find a window or crack or whatever for your archery skills. If you find Time, keep eye on the situation and be ready to shoot his captor if the asshole’s up for killing him. Otherwise wait for my arrival and command. They want me to see his death so I doubt they’ll kill him before I get there.”
“How can you be so sure Time’s still alive?” Legend queried while hating to be the one asking such question.
“Do you feel like he’s dead?” Warriors counted roughly and the Veteran bit grimaced before shaking his head. “Then he’s still alive. Unless you feel otherwise, believe he’s still capable of being saved.” He stated out before turning towards the door again. “Let’s move.” He commanded and went to open the door while the others scattered around to handle their parts of the simple plan.
The house was awfully empty as the war Hero carefully moved forward. He checked the rooms but found no-one from them. Part of him feared for an ambush but more than that he worried for the Chain’s leader. Yet, even though the time didn’t seem to be on his side, he didn’t rush as he partly hoped to have the element of surprise on his side.
Sadly, that wasn’t the case as Warriors finally reached the right room. The door creaked and got him to flinch slightly before he entered the wide square area. Time gasped as the guy yanked him upwards from the floor and drew out a knife which he brought to the one eyed male’s throat. “Gotta admit that you came to here much faster than I expected.” The guy told with a wicked smirk.
“Sprite…” The Captain called while taking in the condition the older Link was in. Both arms dislocated, bloodied face and certainly having broken bones. The Chain’s leader slowly opened his eye and locked his gaze into the younger Hero.
“Not Sprite…” Time almost fought the words out. “You made that clear.” He reminded with a small lopsided smile. “M-maybe I’m just delusional. Dreamt stuff. Too lonely and broken. Just wanting to have a family…” He mumbled while letting his eye close. “It’s all just in my head. Fake and made up.”
The traitor behind the one eyed male snorted and shook his head. “I guess I hit his head few times too many.” He shrugged a bit and smirked as his captive gasped when his head was yanked roughly backwards. “Now… Let’s finish what I started couple of years ago.” He pressed the knife against Time’s skin. His smirk widened at the shudder and slight tremble at the threat he posed to the life that was in his hold.
“At ease…” Warriors tried to calm the situation out while wishing the others could get into there some other way than the road he had taken. “You want to prolong this, right?” He half commented, half queried as he wracked his brain for a way to save the Chain’s leader, his little brother.
The guy snorted before bit chuckling. “Should’ve captured that fairy back then.” He stated out but he shrugged nearly instantly afterwards. “But I’m not that cruel. Trapping a fairy is wrong.”
“And murdering isn’t?” The Captain inquired bit roughly.
“This is no different compared to what you and that brat did in the war.” The man snarled in near rage.
“You… Y-you got the wrong guy…” Time mumbled while gulping once but very much hating the feeling of the knife against his throat. “I’m not that kid. Too old to be that kid. I’m just fucking good at coming up with stuff. Getting in tune with things…”
Warriors grit his teeth and fisted his hands while feeling utterly out of words. He wasn’t certain if the one eyed male was just trying to buy some time or if he really was meaning his words. Either way, it didn’t seem to help the situation even one bit.
The traitor snorted and shook his head. “Doesn’t matter. You’re dead all the same.” He mused and raised his wicked gaze into the Captain. “So, how shall I do it this time around? Strike the same place as back then? Slice his throat as was done at the alley? Or should I stab him through his heart?” He queried and his smirk only widened at the shudder and sickened look on the war Hero’s face at the ideas of how his little brother would be murdered right before his eyes. “Or… Would you rather I struck somewhere else?” The guy queried while bringing the knife towards Time’s eye. “How about it? Fully blind. That would be fun, eh?” He smirked while taking full pleasure of his victim’s trembling.
The Chain’s leader shut his eye and gulped once. “D-do what you want. D-doesn’t really matter…” He stammered out in a mumble.
“Sprite… I… I’ll get you out of this…” The war Hero tried to keep his voice calm but he was terrified and it was clearly seen. That only delighted the traitor even more. Suddenly the Captain noticed the absolutely best thing that had so far happened during the day. “NOW!” He screamed out and fully startled both the bad guy and the one eyed male.
“Wha—“ The traitor started but he never got further as Wild’s arrow struck into his head straight and true. Time gave out a startled gasp as the man behind him crumbled and the offending blade was removed from his vicinity.
“Sprite!” Warriors screamed out and dashed forward. Luckily the Chain’s leader hadn’t fallen too as he had been whole time on his knees on the ground as the situation had been on. “Sprite, look at me.” The tactician of the Chain nearly pleaded and relaxed a bit when Time opened his eye to look at him.
Wild quickly jumped down from the window and brought out the Paraglider to land safely. He carefully walked towards the duo while being bit uncertain of whether or not to interrupt the moment. Yet, as he took in the outlook of his leader, he made his choice. He simply nodded to the Captain before crouching down to start working with the chains to free the oldest Link.
Time sighed and closed his eye while with lot of effort faced away from the one he had been trying to get to understand their shared past. “J-just get my shoulders fixed and we can get out of here once the Champion’s done with the chains.” He mumbled out the half there being command.
The war Hero nearly jerked at the bit defeated tone and frowned in concern and confusion. “Sprite? Come on, little brother. You’ve been so adamant about things so far. Why are you backing off now?”
“I’m not Sprite.” The Chain’s leader mumbled. “You’ve made that truth clear to me.”
Warriors’ frown deepened at that claim. “Speaking of truth…” He started and carefully leaned his forehead against Time’s. “I and my little brother made a promise back during the war. We’d speak the truth to each other no matter what. So, tell me… What’s the real story behind that scar of yours?”
The oldest Link slumped with his ears drooping. “You already heard that one.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t believe that story.” The Captain replied bit roughly. “I think you were just trying to protect me by claiming all that shit.” He told before pulling bit off while sighing heavily. “All you’ve so far told… The memories of the situations…” He sighed again and shook his head. “They’re all real. I’ve gone through them with my little brother. All I ever really wanted…” He explained and looked sorrowfully at the Chain’s leader. “…was simple proof. Something to really make certain you’re the one I’ve been searching for. After all, as everyone’s aware, the portals have been throwing us here and there within eras, timelines, past, present and future. There’s bound to be other versions of us. I just wanted to know for sure that you’re the little brother I was dealing the war with.”
It was clear to Warriors that the Hero before him wasn’t going to say a word. “Okay, considering proof… How about I give such first?” He half suggested before already starting to take off his right arm’s gauntlet before already pulling the sleeves of the tunics up. “You remember that little feral beast you were back then?” He half mused while showing small bite mark on his upper arm.
Time frowned a bit and opened his eye in more of curiosity than anything else. “Are those teeth marks?” Wild asked with a voice of confusion and curiosity. The Chain’s leader blushed a bit and slumped again.
“They are.” The Captain answered almost proudly with a lopsided grin. “And the creator of that bite is right in front of you.” He told with mischievous grin. The oldest Link whined and slumped even more if possible. “So, your turn, Sprite.” He simply stated out while lowering the sleeves and beginning to put the gauntlet back on.
Time sighed heavily but he managed to nod. “First of all, I was small back then. Smaller than Four, to be honest. I was ten. And I was scrawny too.” He explained into the unvoiced question Wild certainly was having in his head. “Anyway, about that night…” He continued before already trailing off. Yet, only a moment later he took a deep breath and began to talk.
“I never wanted you to find out. You already carry enough of guilt on your shoulders. Didn’t want to remind you of this. Yet… The reason I didn’t follow you at that night wasn’t because I was tired or not interested. I should’ve been there but… I…” The one eyed male hesitated for a moment. “I wanted to go to see the close by being Great Fairy. I was… I… I-I was hoping She could allow me to stay with you. In your era. I wanted to stay, W— Captain. I wanted to have what I never had. A home. A family. But… A-after the traitors attacked at that night. A-after I almost died… I never had a chance anymore as I stayed close to you. And then…” He painfully and just barely shrugged. “Then I was already snatched away from your era and send back to my own before I even realized what had happened.”
Wild was grateful he had the chains to work with while Warriors just stared at Time with wide eyes. “W-why… W-why didn’t you ever tell me? I could’ve… I would’ve—“ He stammered before the one eyed male talked over him already.
“Because I didn’t want your hopes up!” Time nearly snapped and turned his teary and bit anguished gaze into the Captain. “I didn’t know how things would go. I didn’t want you to break your heart if the Great Fairy wouldn’t be able to make that wish come true. I wanted it to be a surprise if it would’ve been possible. I wanted to give you a gift of dealing with that feral beast I was and be there to raise me. I wanted that so bad and…” He trailed off while closing his eye and letting his head hang as the tears had already began to fall. “I’ll never know if She could’ve allowed such.”
Warriors just simply nodded before already gently kissing his little brother’s forehead. “Well, what matters, Sprite, is that we’re back together now. After all this time…” He sighed and shook his head. “I’m sorry, little brother. I’m sorry about the hurt I caused by not believing you. I should’ve…” He trailed off with a heavy sigh.
“Doesn’t matter anymore.” Time half whispered with a slight smile. “We got this quest together now. That’s more than I can ask for.” He told and would’ve shrugged if it would’ve been possible and not hurt so much. “Now, how about you fix my shoulders, please?”
The Captain partly chuckled, partly snorted before nodding. He gently dried his little brother’s tears away with a small fond smile. “You got something Time can bite on? This is going hurt.” He looked at the Champion whom swiftly pulled out his Slate to check it. The war Hero carefully took a hold of needed parts before Wild brought out a thick stick which he broke into smaller part until already giving it to Time to bite into. “You ready?” Warriors inquired and the one eyed male nodded.
Soon enough Time was growling and giving out pained muffled scream as his shoulder was fixed. His older brother swiftly bandaged it to keep the bones to right places. After that, once the Chain’s leader had taken few deep breaths to calm down again, he handled the other shoulder. He really hated the pain he caused to his brother but it was needed for things to heal properly.
Rest of the Chain had quietly moved into the room before the first shoulder had been put back to right place. The master archer had simply nodded to them before returning his notion into the situation with their leader. The six Heroes flinched roughly when Time screamed in pain.
“I’m going to pick you up and move to better place.” Warriors warned while starting to work on the actions. “With getting you to lay down, we’ll be able to check that the bones are correctly.” He explained and Time simply nodded.
When the one eyed male felt his brother jerk a bit, he opened his eye to find the rest of the boys there. Two of them were already laying bedrolls down for softer place to work on. “We checked few roads we found. Led underground but all were empty.” Twilight informed swiftly. “Came here right after that.”
The Captain nodded both his acknowledgement and thanks before taking Time to the bedrolls. “Traveler…” The Chain’s leader called bit weakly. “You’re good with checking things so… I… I don’t know what they injected me with but I still can’t really move…” He explained bit uncertainly.
“Got it.” Hyrule nodded firmly while coming to opposite side than where Warriors was. He closed his eyes and tapped into his leader’s magic before starting to check things through. Time tried to calm down in the soothing feeling of the Fairy Magic but he kept grimacing whenever Warriors needed to pull the bones to right places. Yet, he felt bit grateful of not screaming in pain by the rough actions.
“Found it.” The half-fairy eventually called before bit frowning. “There’s something else too…” He half whispered while following the feeling. “Damn… Blood connection… Just give me a moment and I’ll clear it.” He half growled before sighing. “Yet, once I’ve dealt with this one, I won’t be able to handle any healing for you for few days.”
“What do you mean?” Legend asked while having been ready with a green potion.
“Blood connection is a curse.” Hyrule started sorrowfully. “Magic and one’s blood combined and given to another person. If the one the connection is given bleeds enough, it’s off from usage for that person. As I can feel it having been cleared. Yet, the curse is still in work within the one from whom the blood was taken. In this case meaning Time. I can handle it but undoing a curse, black magic, is different from healing. It takes more and needs different kind of magic using.”
“Is there any other way to undo it?” Sky inquired worriedly.
“There are other ways too but not as efficient as mine.” The Traveler replied bit hesitantly. “And usually those leave traces behind them which means this kind of situation can be brought up easier at later time.”
“Do what you can.” Time tried to command but his voice still came out rather mumbled than normal. “I’m sure a potion will be enough to fix the other damages.”
“Yeah, well, that’s the problem.” Hyrule replied uncertainly. “If we use potion or healing magic now, the blood connection can’t be undone. If we handle the blood connection, the potions and healing magic are useless for few days.”
“Well, it’s simple decision then.” Time shrugged a bit and still slightly grimaced at the bit of pain in his shoulders. “Clear the blood connection. I can handle few days of being bedridden and not move much.” He grinned bit mischievously. “I’m sure you eight are more than eager to fuss over me for the time being.” His grin widened as his boys blushed at that comment.
The occasional healer of the Chain glanced at the Captain for confirmation. Warriors simply nodded firmly in acceptance of what to do. “Alright. This’ll take a while as I need to work it slowly to get it all dealt with. After that I’m quite certain that you can walk again. The blood connection is what’s blocking the knock-out drugs from fully leaving your body which also has brought out the lack of movement.”
“Once the blood connection is gone, is he okay to get some actual movement in?” The war Hero inquired bit worriedly.
“That would be preferred.” Hyrule nodded firmly. “It’ll help to kick out the drugs faster. Yet, obviously, considering the state your legs are in… No moving without aid and definitely not too much.”
“Alright. We’ll make sure of that.” Twilight stated out firmly while being ready to keep Time in the bed by laying over him as Wolfie.
With all this cleared, the half-fairy closed his eyes and concentrated. He searched the blood connection out and began to undo the dark magic of the curse. It took few hours before he finally pulled off with a small exhausted smile. “All’s cleared now…” He whispered before snuggling against Legend and falling asleep.
Warriors carried Time while Legend had Hyrule as the nine Heroes went to the Inn. Sky and Four had managed to book few rooms from there but now they all stayed in the biggest one they had gotten. It was the easiest way in the work of looking after the one eyed male for those few days it took for things to settle down within him.
Yet, for those few days the Chain’s leader didn’t really need to do or say much before his requests were already fulfilled. At first he felt bit annoyed of the constant notion he gained but very soon he actually took full advantage of the situation. Hugs, hot chocolates and sweet foods were mostly on what he asked for and his boys were more than eager and swift to give him those. Each of the eight helped to support him whenever he worked to get his body’s movement back into his control. In fact, he pretty much picked the boys he wanted by him while making sure they all got the chance to aid him in everything so no-one would feel left out or like their aid wouldn’t have been good enough.
When Hyrule checked Time couple of days later and was up for telling that things were ready for a potion or healing magic, the one eyed male shushed him nearly immediately. “I’m sure few more days off from healing would be better, don’t you think? For being on the safe side, you know.” He told while giving a mix of pleading and half commanding look. The Traveler was bit surprised before nodding and agreeing into the plan.
The Chain’s leader very much enjoyed of those few extra days of being fussed over by his boys. Yet, more than that he loved to get the love, caring and hugs from the eight around him. He knew his body was already healing on its own and the potions and healing magic he’d get at later time would heal more but, more than any of those, the several days of being fussed over by the Chain healed him far more and stronger than any time, potion or healing magic ever could. And, most of all, what really eased his heart was the fact that he had his big brother back.
The Chain watched with smiles on their faces as Time snuggled closer to Warriors while pulling the soft scarf bit better around him. He sighed contently while smiling fondly as he was drifting off into dreamland. Safe and warm in his big brother’s arms was something he had been missing for couple of decades. Now he finally felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.

Story for prompt # 2
“You call that a strike? Ha! Didn’t even feel it! How about you try again and this time you hit like you mean it.”
Summary: The moment the Chain of Heroes walk out of the portal, they’re in huge trouble. Time, being the leader and clearly the strongest of them, is chosen by the place’s leader into a battle. The aftermath of that fight is something the one eyed male is not happy of dealing with.
CW: Battle to death, getting roughly beaten, slicing the bad guy’s throat, faking as a leader for the bad guys, imprisonment, rough sparring
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Holding back
Time knew he could be very cruel if he so wished. He could easily beat the crap out of the monsters with or without weapons. It was what he did. It was what belonged into the Hero’s work. And yet, there was one part he was entirely unable of crossing even though it too belonged into the description of what Heroes did.
He could NOT strike hard or, worse yet, kill another person.
The Chain’s leader looked around at the crowd that had gathered around them. He could’ve dealt with this if it just had been him and his opponent but this… This he couldn’t take. He could fake it. He could show to be cruel. He could really sell it to the people around them… If only his opponent would keep his mouth shut.
“You call that a strike? HA! Didn’t even feel it!” The man barked out after having bit recoiled backwards after that latest punch the one eyed male had landed into him. “How about you try again and this time you hit like you mean it.”
Time grit his teeth while taking a step away from the guy. He couldn’t lose as the lives of his boys were in the line. And yet… He wasn’t able of taking this guy down. He didn’t have what it took to strike as needed. He couldn’t kill like what the other Heroes were capable of. And for first time since the war at the Captain’s era he started to wonder if there was something wrong with him. Wild and Warriors had no trouble in taking a life. And the others killed if they saw it as accepted or needed…. And he couldn’t. No matter what the situation was, he was unable of taking a life.
Yet, the one eyed male knew there was one way he could kill another person. He didn’t like it and he certainly wasn’t up for going down on that line. Still, sadly, it seemed like the only way possible of handling this situation. He glanced at the Chain whom was held captive by part of the crowd. He searched out Warriors and locked his gaze into him. “I’m sorry.” He mouthed out before taking a deep breath and accepting what was to come.
Time changed his offensive into defense. He didn’t fight back as the guy came at him with hard and rough punches and kicks. He blocked and avoided as much as he could while knowing it only prolonged the situation. And yet, he couldn’t just accept being beaten just like that. It just wasn’t possible for him.
When the Chain’s leader glanced once again at the eight other Heroes, he saw the worry and fear in his older brother’s gaze. The rest of the Chain was confused of his odd plan. Yet, they certainly got a hunch of his actions when he allowed the cruel punch land into the side of his head. He moved by the hit’s force but he didn’t bring up his defense by blocking or avoiding as the kick struck into his leg.
The oldest Link held back his scream as he crashed to his knees. He flinched and tried to be ready as the next kick found his head. He grimaced as he fell roughly into the fighting area’s floor. He kept his gaze closed while rather knowing than feeling the movement before the guy already was over him. He just took the cruel punches into his face while fighting against himself about defending his own life.
When the guy finally was ready to finish the fight by wrapping his hands around Time’s throat, the instincts finally kicked in. The one eyed male snapped his eye open in shock before already struggling against the hold. Yet, the bigger thing was that he started to strike his knee into the guy’s back as hard as he could.
The moment the hold loosened around the chosen fighter’s throat, he quickly struck a backward somersault to change the situation around. He desperately locked his mind into the fact of needing to survive instead of fighting for others. This was about self-preservation and that instinct was far stronger than anything else. The only instincts that would get over it would be love and rage. And yet, this time the love he had towards his boys hadn’t been enough. Sadly, the only reason for such probably was the fact that he had been chosen by the bad guy to face him. He whom was unable to kill. For any of the others this fight would’ve been easy and over in no time. For him, though…
Time’s gaze had hardened when the instinct for survival had been turned on. That one eye held no other emotion than the need to stay alive. Kill or be killed. There was no other choice at the moment. Nothing else mattered at then and there. Anyone whom would’ve attacked or approached him while underneath the given instinct would’ve been attacked roughly without second’s thought. Everything had become a threat to his health.
The Chain’s leader didn’t have any of his gear on. He didn’t have anything that enhanced his strength. And yet, he threw in punches that were far crueler and harder than what the guy had landed into him. He held back the flinches as his fist collided with the man’s face. He fought down the feeling of nausea as he knew what he was doing.
When the guy drew out hidden knife to strike his attacker, the one eyed male didn’t even feel the stab into his tight. He flinched slightly before already crushing the guy’s hand with a grip that could’ve rivaled the strength of the Gorons. The man beneath him screamed in agony and the knife fell into the floor. He didn’t allow himself to think even for a second as he snatched the blade and slashed.
Time stood up with the bloodied knife in death grip in his hand while the leader of the bad guys of the town was choking into his own blood from cut throat. He let his cruel gaze go around the crowd of all kinds of bad guys. When he finally spoke, his voice was colder than the ice with command that left no room for arguing back: “I have, as the rules were, taken down your leader. Set my team free now and no further casualties will be needed.”
Crowd had taken few steps away from the battle area when their leader’s defeater had looked around. Now they nearly pushed the eight away from them to be as far away from them as possible. Time didn’t nod or acknowledge the situation. He let his gaze still go around the people that had fallen eerily silent around him. “As the new leader, I have few very simple commands to give.” He started cruelly before keeping short moment of silence to make sure the crowd around him understood the situation very clearly.
“Gather all of your weapons and drop them into here, by this stage. Leave no weapon forgotten.” The one eyed male snarled and the men and women nodded in full understanding. They quickly drew out their weapons and gathered them into a huge heap in front of the arena where Time was still standing. He was bleeding with broken leg and a stab in his side. Yet, he couldn’t care even one bit of that at the moment while having work to do.
The oldest Link knew that the next few commands would be crucial ones. He simply hoped the people would still be shocked enough to actually follow his word without thinking. Yet, he was fully grateful at the moment of his boys staying silent and just letting him handle things the best way he saw fit.
Time did his best to stay calm and collected while maintaining his leadership. “Now, I’m certain each of you have rope with you.” He started while bringing out a smirk to his lips. “Tie each other up.” He commanded as firmly and roughly as he could.
The crowd was quite startled of the given words and they began to look around in slight shock and confusion. “Wasn’t I clear enough with the command?!” The one eyed male snarled out and held back his own flinch as the people around him jerked. Most began to draw out the said ropes and tie the closest one’s hands behind their backs.
Yet, some still hesitated. “Uh… W-why are we—“ One of the people began but the rest of the words died in the guy’s throat the second Time’s cruel and harsh glare found him.
“You DARE to challenge me?!” The Chain’s leader barked out as raged as he could while tightening his hold on the bloodied knife. The one whom had started to speak shrank on that second and shook his head viciously. After that, while trembling, he began to tie the closest person’s hands.
Once the people had been tied with the last one’s hands having been tied by Warriors, Time felt slightly bit calmer. “Check them.” He commanded while giving a slight nod towards the crowd in overall. The eight Heroes nodded without a word while growing more and more worried for their leader’s wellbeing. Still, they did as the one eyed male told and began to make sure the knots were secure and certain.
When The Chain returned to their earlier place and gave a firm nod of confirmation, Time tried not to show his relief over the situation. “Good.” He still kept his voice rough and commanding just to keep the people underneath his rule. “Now we leave this place to the closest town and you lot are given up to the place’s Knights and guards.” He stated out with a smirk while letting his gaze go around the shocked looks of his captives. “Pose a threat or try to escape…” He continued while giving a short dramatic pause. “We will NOT hesitate to kill you.” He forced his voice to stay cruel and commanding.
When the crowd nodded in understanding and slumped in defeat as their Town of Thieves and Other Bad Guys had fallen this fast and roughly. “Now… Move.” Time commanded before giving a swift nod to his boys. “Flank them.” He ordered quickly before taking the lead of the whole enormous group of his.
As Time had mentioned the closest town, Wild had straight off taken his Slate out. He was grateful of the device having been upgraded back when they last visited his era and now it was swift in finding a map of the area. It was odd but the Champion believed the Goddess Hylia was aiding him and giving the needed info to help him and his fellow Heroes on the given quest. Once he checked the map and got the needed info of where the road out of the current town was and how far and in which direction the closest town was, he straight off signed the given information to his oldest brother.
Earlier on, when the oldest youngster of the nine Heroes had been checking the tied ropes with his brothers, he took Time’s weapons and armor into his Slate. He wasn’t happy of the situation and even less of the certain knowledge he had. He had given a swift worried glance to his leader while knowing he wasn’t going to put the armor on nor was he going to allow any kind of healing. He even was quite sure the one eyed male was going to walk out of this town and into the next in the condition he was in. He was far from being happy with that but he, as well as his brothers, understood it.
Getting out of the town was swift and easy but the upcoming walk to the closest town wouldn’t be. Hyrule and Legend were up for healing the worst by magic, fairy and potion but Time sharply showed NO. He needed to uphold the given image he had picked up just to keep the crowd of bad guys in order. Healing and undoing what was part of his current way of going would get the people to riot. Or, at least, he worried for such. He seriously didn’t want more casualties than the crowd’s late leader.
As the huge group moved towards the town, the Chain’s leader let his mind go back to what had landed him into the given situation. With something else in his mind than his current condition, it was easier to keep walking and ignoring the pain and bleeding. He unconsciously fought the limp to stay off of his movement so he could give even bigger notion of a badass leader whom one didn’t want to cross for any of reason.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Things had gone to hell the moment they had come out of the portal. Luckily, this time around, they had stayed together. Yet, for once, Time would’ve LOVED to have his boys separated from him and, most of all, to be outside the town they had just walked right into.
The people turned around in shock and stared at them. Before Time had a chance to try and explain along with calming the situation down, everyone around him and his boys had drawn out all kinds of weapons. Yet, the nine Heroes didn’t have a chance to pull out their own weapons to defend themselves as the spears were already brought up and at them. The sharp tips of the deadly weapons were less than inch from their skin and certainly would pierce it before any of them could even move.
The Chain of Links wasn’t going to make a bad choice of trying to either defend or avoid the attacks. Some of them might’ve been swift enough to avoid death but definitely not all of them. And none of them wished to lose even one of their brothers due to foolish actions.
Soon enough the crowd parted for a wicked looking man. He smirked while tilting his head as he took in the situation. The Heroes of Hyrule stayed silent as the guy circled them once to see the captured group of theirs. Once back to his earlier place, the male nodded at Time with widening smirk. “Him.”
Suddenly the spears moved closer to the Chain’s leader’s throat and forced him to move away from his team. The Chain tried to scream out his name and throw in threats and whatnot but the spears swiftly were brought closer to their throats to cut the words into startled gasps. Time gasped in shock and growled a bit as few of the spears cut a shallow wound around his neck as he looked at his boys. “Don’t mo—“ He started before half gasping, half growling as the tips of the spears almost broke through his skin.
“Shut it!” The crowd’s leader growled out with rough glare. The one eyed male very carefully turned to face the guy again. “The rules are simple.” The man started before nodding towards Time. “No armor or weapons. Fight to death. You win, you and your team can leave this place alive. I win, you and your team are dead.”
The Chain’s leader gulped once and gave a slight and careful nod. “G-got it.” He nearly stammered while tad worrying over the fact of how easily the keepers of the spears could just kill them off. He held back his growl of displeasure as few persons came from the crowd and began to take his weapons and armor off. The only thing he was grateful of was the fact that those were left to right there instead of anyone stealing a thing from there. After that he was forced up into the arena after the leader of the place had gone to there first.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Time stopped everyone well before the town’s entrance. They were well in sight for anyone whom would glance towards the fields. “Captain!” He called without glancing behind him. Instead, he nodded towards the town. “Go and inform them of the situation.” He commanded and Warriors, whom had come next to him, gave a swift salute before dashing off into the town.
Once the Chain’s leader’s second-in-command had gone past him, he turned around to keep check on the crowd. He was grateful of his boys acting as herders for the captured bad guys. Yet, he really wished the situation could be dealt swiftly as he knew he wouldn’t stay to his feet for long anymore.
Time forced to keep his gaze in the crowd instead of glancing longingly at the close by forest. He knew he wouldn’t be staying at the Inn and on that way his boys wouldn’t stay at there either. It wasn’t because they wouldn’t have had enough of money for a night. It was simply for the fact that they didn’t have the needed money to fix the bathroom once he would’ve wrecked it either already at the evening or at least then at the next morning. He just hoped the forest would be enough to ease out his nausea of having killed the man.
The one eyed male tried not to let himself relax too visibly when he heard the Knights and guards arrive. He forced himself to breathe normally while giving one simple sharp and warning look to the crowd guarded by his boys. After that he turned around to face the group the war Hero brought to him. Even though he didn’t let it show on his face, he was inwardly entirely grateful of the huge group of well armed Knights and guards of the town.
“If this is not all of the people from the close by thug base, then it is at least most of them.” Time started as firmly as he could. “You can find their weapons from close of the podium at the center of the town they held as their own. Also, their late leader is on that podium too. Dead.” He continued and threw the knife into the ground right in front of the lead Knight of the group. “Killed by me. Did not have a choice in the matter.” He stated out before hesitating for a short moment until raising his hands a bit in surrender. “If you wish to arrest me for the death, I will not fight back. My team will not interfere into the situation either.”
The Knights and guards stared at him quite startled and the Chain’s leader started to bit fear what his older brother had already given out about the situation. He forced himself not to glance at Warriors while waiting for the given era’s people make the choice in the matter.
Eventually the group of Knights and guards relaxed and nodded firmly. “At ease. You are not at the fault of the situation. In fact, you and your team have done in less than a day something we’ve been working for months. Thank you.” The lead Knight of the group spoke firmly before actually bowing to Time. His comrades mimicked his action instantly.
The oldest Link was quite well taken off guard and he jerked slightly backwards. “Um… Y-you’re welcome…?” He partly stammered while feeling out of words and, more so, what to actually say.
“Fastest Runner, go and get the horse. Go and inform the Castle of the situation.” The lead Knight commanded as he glanced at his group. One of the guards saluted before he already turned around and dashed back to the town. “Rest of you… Arrest them.” He continued and his group swiftly nodded before already taking the job of guarding the tied bad guys from the Chain.
Once things were secured and the bad guys were being taken towards the town to be held in the prison, the lead Knight turned his notion back into Time. “You should get those fixed. In fact, you look pretty exhausted.”
Time finally relaxed and calmed down. He gave a weak grin and waved his hand dismissively. “I’ll be fine. We got what we need.” He replied before nodding sharply towards the forest. “We’ll camp somewhere in there.” He told vaguely while being more than ready to just vanish into the forest’s safety.
“The Inn—“ The lead Knight began but the Chain’s leader shook his head.
“Thanks but no thanks. Wouldn’t feel right to stay in there for free and we’re not having the money for the stay.” The Hero of Time told while tad fearing his boys to claim different. Yet, the Chain stayed silent and he felt entirely grateful of that. The lead Knight simply nodded and Time returned the gesture before already heading off into the forest.
The one eyed male bit felt like just pulling off his disappearance trick by Kokiri Magic but he chose against it. His boys were worried sick and they were waiting for him to let them heal him. It wouldn’t have been right to deny them the relief of getting him fixed. And yet, they followed him silently as he closed his eye and just let the forest lead him. He held back his scowl as he understood the given info of the area being free of monsters. He really would’ve needed those beasts at the moment so he could’ve put his feelings into usage by taking down the creatures.
Eventually, with the adrenaline finally vanishing, things crashed. Time just slowed down into a stop while having wrapped his arms around himself. Then, with a gasp, he fell to his knees before already starting to gag and dry heave. The last meal had been too long ago to get anything to come out of him. He held his eye tightly shut while feeling the tears fall.
The Chain swiftly surrounded their leader in fear and worry. “Time!”, “Are you all right?!”, “What’s wrong?” were shouted around him but he barely could concentrate into them. He bit fought against the hold when Warriors pulled him into his arms.
“Sshh, it’s okay, Sprite.” The Captain whispered while holding as tightly as he could. Slowly his younger brother calmed down and stopped trying to get freed.
“I feel sick…” Time mumbled while bit trembling. He wanted to break down. He wanted to scream. He desperately wanted to destroy something.
“I know, little brother, I know.” The war Hero spoke softly before nodding to Hyrule. “Let’s fix those wounds first. After that you can take a spar with us. That’ll help, I’m sure.”
The Traveler moved bit closer while carefully following his oldest brother’s actions and expressions in case his help wasn’t wanted. Slowly and coaxingly he initiated his magic before already carefully tapping into the one eyed male’s Fairy Magic. He relaxed a bit when the older male didn’t fight back. Instead, he seemed to calm down a bit at the familiar and comforting feeling of fairy’s magic.
While the half-fairy healed the damage the Chain’s leader had gained, Wild carefully came over. He was as careful and slow with his work as he began to clean the blood off of Time’s face. The oldest Link flinched slightly and grimaced but he calmed down soon and allowed the action.
Once the duo pulled away after having done as much as they could, Warriors gently got the older male to look at him. “So, how about it? Bit of practice to let you deal with your feelings.” He suggested with a slight reassuring smile.
Time sighed heavily and shook his head. “No.” He stated out while fisting his hands. “I’m not… It wouldn’t help…” He mumbled as he grit his teeth. “I either go too hard or hold back. Neither would help me.”
“I’m sure we can take you on, Sprite.” Warriors grinned while getting up and dragging the one eyed male along with him. “Champion, give Time his Gilded Sword and the Mirror Shield.” He half commanded with a firm nod.
“Wars, no.” Time nearly snapped before already grimacing as his weapons were brought out. Yet, the master archer had gotten few new features in his Slate and hence the blade was struck sharp point first into the ground for easy snatching with the shield carefully leaning against the blade. The one eyed male blinked once in bit of surprise before tentatively picking his weapons up.
The moment the sword and shield were in Time’s hold, Warriors, whom had moved bit backwards to get some room between them, gave out his battle cry and attacked. The Chain’s leader gasped in full shock while just barely managing to back away and bring the Mirror Shield up to block the fast horizontal slash. He flinched at the screech on the protective item while backing off even more.
The war Hero didn’t give the oldest Link a chance to reconsider the situation before he already turned back towards him and attacked with diagonal strike. Time stared at him while still being tad rattled of the situation and just brought the shield up again. He flinched once again as the weapon struck into the mirror. Yet, this time he didn’t back off.
When the third attack, opposite going diagonal strike, came, the Chain’s leader struck his shield against the sword as hard as he could. As Warriors stumbled backwards, Time moved swiftly forward and tackled the war Hero into the ground with a growl. Right after that he already knelt down and brought his sword to his brother’s throat. “I told you this won’t help.” He snarled while glaring at the startled younger male.
Suddenly the one eyed male gasped as another fighter joined into the battle. The horizontal slash forced Time up to his feet and away from Warriors. “This is really bad idea, guys!” He barked out while blocking the next two diagonal strikes while backing away once again. He scowled as the war Hero moved to his other side.
The oldest Link hated the situation more than he dared to ever tell. He did his best to keep notion on both of his brothers while dreading the situation thoroughly. When the duo attacked, he simply blocked the strikes. Shield against the horizontal attack and sword up to meet the vertical strike. He leaned against the blades to get the Captain off balance as he suddenly moved off the attack and let his older brother stumble forward. Yet, he didn’t attack. Instead, he struck a new Shield Bash but this time against Twilight to get him off of his case.
Warriors was just getting back his balance and ready to attack again when his little brother suddenly was already there. Time tackled him once again into the ground before moving off of Twilight’s way as the vertical slash came. Yet, that was exactly what he had been waiting as he snatched a hold of the pelt and pulled his boy backwards. The Rancher yelped as his mentor forced him right down onto the war Hero’s chest.
“At the moment I’m still coherent enough to know what I’m doing to avoid actual damage.” Time growled while glaring at his two boys. He gave a swift rough glance to the others in hopes of that keeping them from taking part into the situation. “If you push me further, I will hate myself for the outcome of what you forced me into.”
“W-what do you mean…?” Sky queried while having been ready to be a third fighter. He had fully hoped his speed could be enough to keep Time occupied long enough with the battle that they could actually help him.
“He means the fact of hurting you eight.” The ethereal voice snapped everyone’s gazes into a new figure in the area. The Fierce Deity walked into the smallish clearing of sorts and kept his gaze in the Hero of Time. “My friend, I know you do not want to endanger your boys so how about you face me instead?” He half challenged while raising his hands up and suddenly the Double Helix materialized out of nowhere right into his hold.
“Fierce, I’m not sure that’s—“ Time started but the God of Protection shushed him swiftly with a sharp movement of his hand.
“Right now, with your feelings raging within you, you can easily match me. And you know you cannot harm me. This will be the safest way when there are no monsters to face.” The Deity stated out and bit grinned when his mask’s keeper chuckled bit nervously.
“Right…” Time mumbled while scratching the back of his head. Soon he shrugged. “I would’ve rather taken down some monsters. I doubt a group of Iron Knuckles, Dark Nuts, different eras’ Moblins and Dark Hammers would’ve been much of trouble at the moment.” He told with a grin.
“Add a Lynel or two into there and I am sure you would have had a blast with it.” Fierce smirked knowingly while the eight Heroes stared utterly shocked about the amount of hardcore beasts to deal with.
Time shrugged casually. “That would’ve made it interesting for certain.” He commented before grinning. “Alright. You got yourself a deal.” He told before turning his notion into Wild. “Give me my Biggoron Sword.” He requested before striking his current blade into the ground and putting the shield to lean against it. “Gotta have it somewhat equal, right?”
The Fierce Deity chuckled a bit and nodded. When the oldest Link drew the Biggoron Sword off of the ground, the God of Protection moved closer. Time raised his sword up by one hand and Fierce mimicked him while letting the blades touch. “Keep your distance, boys. This is going to be rough.” The Chain’s leader half commanded while keeping his gaze in his Deity friend as the two of them took bit of distance before they’d start the spar.
Fierce slowly took a stance and better hold of his sword. Time closed his eye as he unconsciously mimicked the Deity’s actions. He fully hoped his boys would keep the distance and wouldn’t interfere into the situation. He took a deep breath to both calm down and to let his feelings overtake him. As he exhaled slowly, he opened his eye and when he inhaled again, he gave out his battle scream and dashed at the God of Protection.
Fierce grinned and took a better stance before already countering the diagonal strike his mask’s keeper let loose. The blades clanged together loudly and powerfully. Neither backed off as they simply leaned against into the push. Eventually Time growled and swiftly moved aside while lowering his blade. He swung it in horizontal way as he tried to round the Deity. Fierce countered the strike with blade held vertically. He moved to opposite way to uphold their distance.
Slash by slash the God of Protection countered the strikes. He stayed in defense to allow his opponent to hit with all he got. Yet, he knew he needed to go for offence eventually or he’d only get his friend off their practice as things wouldn’t be what he was really in need of. That was when the one eyed male suddenly dove over the Deity’s horizontal slash.
Fierce was bit startled as Time’s attack had been more of a ruse than anything else. Luckily, though, he knew his companion’s moves like his own and quickly moved forward. The Chain’s leader had somersaulted behind him and jumped now to strike at the Deity’s back but his slash struck empty air.
Twilight gasped as he recognized the slightly bit differently created attack. “Back Slice…” He half whispered as he named the move. It was then his worry started to turn into awe and eagerness of seeing his mentor show off his skills.
The moment Time was back to his feet from the jump, he already dashed at Fierce while striking diagonally. The Deity countered the attack but this time around he was the first one to move off of the push and strike horizontally. The one eyed male backflipped off of the way to gain bit of distance. He grinned as the somehow solid ethereal being came at him again.
Time stayed crouched and waited for Fierce to reach the striking distance. The Deity almost jerked when he caught the mouthed words of “Your left.”. It was simple instinct and how well the two of them were connected that got him to move just in time off of the fast and rough strike’s way.
The oldest Link had swiftly stood up and struck a upwards going stab. The blade missed Fierce’s side of the neck by less than an inch. He heard his Cub whisper two words: “Mortal Draw.” Soon after the youngster was already shrugging a bit. “Time did a Shield Attack already against you and me. It’s basically the Shield Bash thing.”
Fierce backed away while blocking the attacks one after the other. Time was striking hard and fast while starting to charge his sword for something else. Suddenly he jumped high into the air and unleashed the rougher attack. The Deity didn’t even think about blocking the strike as he quickly moved off of the way.
The oldest Link struck vertically with slightly scowling at the fact the powerful God of Protection didn’t dare to see if he and his sword were unbreakable enough against his attack. As the weapon slammed into the ground, it send off shockwaves all around him. Fierce as well as the Chain gasped and stumbled at the unexpected earthquake of sorts.
“T-that was a Jump Strike…”
While the Deity was still off balance, Time dashed at him again. “Duck.” He simply mouthed before already jumping into the air. The God of Protection didn’t think twice as he crouched down as fast as possible while moving out of the way. Time somersaulted in the air while slashing at the place where Fierce had been only seconds ago.
“Helm Splitter…”
“How do you know all of these?” Warriors inquired while watching wide-eyed at the battle between his little brother and all-powerful Deity. He was worried sick of how things would go but he trusted that the God of Protection was up to his name and wouldn’t cause harm to the one eyed male. Yet, he also bit worried of how far his Sprite would go with this.
“You could say Time himself taught me…” Twilight replied sheepishly. His brothers frowned and looked at him in confusion. The Rancher simply shrugged without giving any more of explanation.
As the battle between the Chain’s leader and the God of Protection went forward, the one eyed male charged his sword for another devastating strike. At the same time he called forth Nayru’s Love and created a protective see-through wall in front of his boys. “Jump high.” He mouthed to the Deity before he sent the much stronger Spin Attack off with a scream.
The magical shield screeched and cracked by the strength of the strike which Twilight dubbed as Great Spin. Yet, luckily, the blockage held and kept the eight Heroes of Hyrule safe and sound. Besides that freak-out of the unexpected attack, they gasped at the fact of how high Fierce jumped to stay out of the strike’s way.
Time was bit panting by now and even Fierce was starting to have bit of hard time to hold his form solid. Yet, it was clear the battle wasn’t over as the Chain’s leader dashed once again at the God of Protection. He jumped high into the air and Fierce quickly moved aside from the attack’s way. The one eyed male struck the sword roughly into the ground tip first. The blade went deep into the ground but it didn’t seem to be a trouble as the oldest Link slashed his weapon free while leaving a deep cut into the ground by it.
“Oh freaking… T-that… T-that was Ending Blow…” Twilight stammered while feeling utterly mesmerized by how Time had gone through each of the moves Hero’s Shade had taught to the Rancher. And back then the skeletal warrior had used a normal sword. Time was using much heavier and longer blade but the way he wielded it was astonishing.
Fierce glanced at the Chain while knowing the battle needed to end soon. He didn’t want to put the group of Heroes’ leader to lose the fight. And yet, in the condition they both were, it wasn’t long before the strength would fully leave the one eyed male. So, he made a swift decision as he attacked and struck with horizontal slash.
As the God of Protection had guessed, his mask’s keeper countered the attack with a vertical one. He was certain his friend was up for slashing first down, getting his blade beneath the Deities and slash back up to, hopefully, get the taller male off balance. Yet, as the blocking strike was in move, Fierce changed his blade’s angle.
Time was startled when his Biggoron Sword’s blade went through the loop at the close of the tip. Fierce gasped as his attack was abruptly ended when the one eyed male’s weapon struck into the ground. The Chain’s leader grinned and slashed roughly backwards while creating another, but much shallower, cut into the ground.
The Deity gasped in shock as the Double Helix was roughly pulled out of his hold. The weapon swung a bit on the ground but Time didn’t send it flying away. As Fierce backed away a bit to get some distance between them, his friend took a step backwards to get the ethereal being’s weapon in front of him.
The God of Protection was still ready to continue the fight if needed but he hoped the oldest Link understood the situation. He watched carefully as Time took hold of the Double Helix’s hilt and picked it up. They both knew his strength had diminished quite a bit so this little trick of his started to be the last things he could get done.
The Chain’s leader threw the double colored sword into air by one hand and let it flip a half circle. He took hold of the loop at the tip of the blade and offered the weapon towards the God of Protection. Fierce calmly moved closer and took a hold of the hilt. Once the hold was secure enough, Time let go of the sharp blade of the Double Helix with a simple nod.
“How are you, my dear friend?” The Deity inquired while letting the sword vanish.
Time shrugged before striking the Biggoron Sword into the ground. “Exhausted, I think.” He gave a weak smile. “Thanks. I really needed that fight.”
“Get some rest. You need it.” Fierce simply said with a small nod. After that his gaze went into Warriors. He gave only one sharp nod towards the one eyed male before already returning his gaze into his friend.
The war Hero glanced once at the others before going over to the duo. Time turned bit towards his older brother with a weak grin. Warriors simply smiled and gently wrapped his arms around the taller male before already pulling his scarf around him. Once in the hold, the one eyed male began to shake as he slowly broke down. He didn’t say a word but he wrapped one arm tightly around the younger Hero. The Captain carefully sat them both down while starting to whisper quiet reassurances.
Fierce watched the situation for a while before he turned his notion into the rest of the Chain. He knew he could’ve said everything out loud but he knew his friend needed the silence at the moment. That was the reason he began to sign instead. “Link has never killed another person. Not until he ended into the war Hero of Warriors was dealing with.”
“How do you know?” Sky signed with a confused frown.
“I and Link share information. Not by our own choice but it happens when he uses my mask.” Fierce explained bit sorrowfully. “The traitors and Yiga… It does not matter that they are bad guys. He just does not take it well if he is forced to kill.”
“And Ganondorf?” Twilight inquired rougher than he had meant to.
“Ganon. The transformation into a beast scratched the idea of him being a person and turned him into a monster for him.” The Deity explained calmly. “The Dark Link he faced in the Water Temple was put down as “Conquer yourself” which in other words meant that he was not a person to begin with but an illusion of his own dark side.”
The Chain nodded in silence as they thought through the explanations. “Taking a life… For Link it means that he is no better than the murderers and such. He feels sick and hellish for having taken a life. He feels guilty and sad for being at the fault of the lost life. And he feels angry while hating himself for the earlier feelings. He know he did not have a choice but it does not change the fact of what he was forced to do.”
“How can we help him?” Hyrule inquired while wanting to go over to their leader and comfort him somehow. Yet, as he watched the top lead of their Chain it was clear that their oldest brother had fallen asleep.
Fierce glanced at Time with a sorrowful smile before returning his notion into the seven boys of his friend’s. “Be by him. Keep telling him that it was not his fault. Make sure he sees the situation as it was. Do not let him convince himself of things having been different than what it had been. He is prone to do such. He gathers guilt way too easily. Keep this off from his conscience.”
The Chain of Heroes nodded firmly into the simple requests of sorts. “We will. It’s a promise.” Wind replied firmly.
“Good.” Fierce signed while relaxing and knowing his mask’s keeper was in very good hands. “There is a Fairy Pond at that direction.” He told and pointed to right way. “Not far. Make a camp at there. I am certain the place will aid Link when he wakes up.” He moved over to Warriors and Time before kneeling down to get low enough. After that he gently kissed the top of the one eyed male’s head. Once he had stood back up and taken bit of distance, he resumed to signing. “I must go now but let Link know that I will always be close by whenever he needs me.” He promised firmly before taking a deep breath and backing away by few steps until vanishing from sight.
Wild took his Slate out and stored the Chain’s leader’s weapon before he followed his brothers to the duo. “Fairy Pond. A place to camp safely.” Hyrule simply said and nodded towards the correct road. He could’ve led his brothers to there even without the Deity having given the information out. Yet, it had been nice to see the overly powerful being caring for their leader like this.
Warriors nodded and carefully cradled his brother into his arms before getting up to his feet. He let the Traveler lead the way with the others surrounding him and Time for protection even though they knew there were no monsters in the woods. Yet, that didn’t mean there wouldn’t have been some other dangers lurking around.
It was the scent of breakfast that woke Time up at the next morning. He sighed bit heavily while slowly opening his eye. “Hey there, Sprite. How you doing?” The query got him to shift a bit and turn his gaze from the forest into Warriors. Yet, instead of words, he just shrugged as an answer.
“You did what you had to, little brother. There’s no doubt in that.” The Captain stated out firmly. The one eyed male just nodded before turning his gaze off. “Sprite?” The war Hero called bit worriedly.
“I know, Wars.” Time half mumbled before taking a deep breath and sitting up as he exhaled. “I know I didn’t have a choice. I know I had to do it. I just…” He started before trailing off while gritting his teeth. There was only one question that came out of him as he turned his almost anguished gaze into the younger male. “Why me? I… I can’t kill. Why it had to be me?”
Warriors wished he could’ve said that he didn’t know but he just sighed heavily and slumped. “Because you’re the leader. The guy took in your age, armor and weapons. He checked us as he rounded us.”
Time slumped at the given answer and he dropped his gaze down. “He should’ve…” He started before shutting his mouth. He knew but he didn’t want to admit it.
“He wasn’t searching for easy fight.” The Captain half whispered and hated how his brother closed his eye and let his ears droop. “And we both know you wouldn’t have let any of us take that fight even though you know any one of us could’ve handled that battle.”
The one eyed male hang his head before simply nodding. He slowly wrapped his arms around himself while fighting to stay intact. “I know…” He mumbled quietly before already raising his hand to wipe away the tears.
The war Hero gently pulled the older male into a gentle hug. “It’s all right, Sprite. Things went as they did.” He whispered and glanced towards the fireplace as the younger Heroes had realized their leader having woke up. Time fell rigid for a moment in his hold as he heard the boys starting to make their way to them. Yet, the closer the seven Links got, the more he slumped while fully hating of letting the others see him like this.
The one eyed male gasped and fell rigid again as the Chain leaned against him and carefully embraced him. He fought against the tears and trembling but eventually the simple comfort the boys were giving him was too much and he broke down. That was when the seven Heroes began to whisper reassurances of him having done things right and of having had no other choice in the matter. Yet, what mattered the most to their oldest brother was the very fact that none of them was blaming or hating him.
It took a while before Time had calmed down enough to turn around in his big brother’s hold. He carefully gave a hug and a kiss to either top of head or to forehead to each of his boys. Only after that they finally got up and all nine of them went over to the fireplace for bit late being breakfast.
As the Chain’s leader looked around the eight others, he kept that one simple line in his mind: “You die, they die.” If he had lost, the others wouldn’t have been given a chance to fight. They would have been murdered just like that. He forced to keep it in his mind while telling he had no other choice than to kill. It still wasn’t easy thing to accept and forgive but, in the end, as he looked around… It was more than worth it. These eight were his boys, his brothers, and he would do whatever it took to keep the safe and sound.
The Chain of Heroes calmed down a bit when they noticed Time smiling a bit. That fond look on his face was all they needed to know that their beloved older brother was forgiving himself for the kill he had had to make. Family came always first and each of them were ready and willing to do whatever it took to keep each other safe and sound. That was all that really mattered and they were grateful that their oldest member fully understood it too.
Yet, they all were more than willing to aid him through the similar situations if such were to come during their quest. Though, more than that, they were going to do whatever it took to keep the one eyed male from this kind of happenings in the future. And still, they were certain Time wouldn’t allow such no matter what. So, as they believed, they would be left with the task of clearing the aftermath of the cruel moments. Nonetheless, with the knowledge they now had, they were quite certain they knew how to aid at then and there. Right now, though? This calm moment and seeing Time having relaxed and accepted things was all that mattered.

Story for prompt # 1
“Make a wish for it will be your last words.”
Summary: Group of bad guys snatch Hyrule to be their next victim. Sadly, they’re very unaware of how good the youngster is with making wishes that come true.
CW: Kidnapping, knocking out, arrow through bad guy’s head
Due to once again Tumblr for some reason NOT letting me put AO3 link correctly, I'm giving the actual story here.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Make a wish
This had not been in his plan. That simple line went through Time’s head as he growled in rage while checking around, counting his boys and understanding to be missing one of the younger Heroes from their ranks. They had been ready. They had been aware of the whole situation. And yet…. And yet, they had been struck down. Knocked out of conscious. And one of them had been kidnapped by the group of bad guys they had been send to deal with.
The one eyed male stood up and started to move around his boys to figure out everyone’s conditions. “Twilight, the moment you’re ready and capable, transform. Find Hyrule’s scent and track him down.” He commanded while feeling tad grateful that their wounds seemed to be very superficial. Things had happened so fast that none of them had been capable of reacting quickly enough into the situation.
The close by town had been targeted by a group of thugs. Mainly robberies and muggings but things had started to go worse little by little. Kidnappings, invading into houses and even few murders. The group had to be stopped and the nine Heroes of Hyrule had gathered as much of information as they could before they already started to search for the bad guys.
The Chain of brothers had caught a promising lead and gone to check the abandoned house in middle of a forest not far from the town. It seemed like a perfect little hideout for the group. They had been trying to scout the area and plan their entrance and everything. Sadly, they never even got close of the place before the trap they had walked into went off.
The smoke rose up fast and the shouts of “Don’t breathe!”, “Get out of the fog!” and “Stay alert!” were heard from each of the nine Links. They tried to move out of the foul scenting cloud as quickly as they could. Backing away and moving to sides but the fog seemed to follow them.
Suddenly something else moved in the unclear area. Gasps of pain and weapons being unsheathed were in the awfully still air. Next sound that arrived was the thuds as the swordsmen fell into the ground.
Time fought the longest against the smoke’s effects while fearing of his boys having been killed instead of been knocked out. He screamed for their names while trying to fight against the unseen enemy. He couldn’t find the others in the thick fog of sorts. Eventually something struck hard into the back of his head and he fell into the ground too.
“Sprite…” Warriors called worriedly as he came to their leader’s side. His gaze was fixed into the taller male’s back of head. Time gasped in pain and recoiled away from the gentle touch as the field medic was up for checking the head wound. “Stay still so I can check this.” The war Hero partly commanded and the one eyed male nodded while trying not to wince in pain.
Slowly the others gathered around their leader in slight worry of the situation. “I guess I wasn’t falling unconscious fast enough so they chose to knock me out differently.” Time shrugged before tad frowning as a red potion was presented to him. “I’m fine. I don’t—“ He started before shutting up as his boys were all giving him puppy-dog-eyes. He sighed exaggerated and rolled his eye. “Fine.” He muttered and accepted the healing drink. Yet, he only took half of it as Warriors hadn’t informed of the head wound to be too bad.
Suddenly Wolfie barked and caught everyone’s notion. “Let’s get going. The quicker we find Hyrule, the better.” The Chain’s leader commanded and the seven Heroes began to follow the massive wolf as it tracked down their missing member.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Hyrule whined as he slowly woke up. He gently rubbed at his forehead as the headache was beginning to form in there. “Finally awake, huh?” The wicked sounding question got him to snap his eyes open in start. He gasped in shock as he saw the group around him. He wasn’t tied but his weapons were missing.
The half-fairy carefully stood up before bit flinching as he heard the people around him pull out their weapons. “What do you want?” He inquired while having a very bad feeling of the situation.
“Some much wanted fun.” One of the men shrugged with a smirk.
“It seems pretty unfair if you guys use weapons while I got none.” Hyrule pointed out with a sheepish look. He simply was grateful that this wasn’t his era and these guys didn’t seem like followers of Ganon. Still, he very much wanted to keep his life intact even though the situation seemed way too grim.
“All the more fun for us.” Another guy told wickedly while just waiting for the rights to attack.
“If I’m going to die in here, can’t you guys at least give me some answers?” The occasional healer of the Chain half requested with as sweet smile as he could give to the thugs around him.
“We don’t humor our prisoners.” Third man sneered while taking a threatening step closer. Hyrule gasped a bit and recoiled backwards. He flinched and slumped as the men around him laughed at his reaction. Part of him wanted to just change into his fairy form and leave but something in the room’s atmosphere told it had magic suppressers. Not exactly blocking but making it very hard to bring out and uphold any magics.
“Alright, before we start to turn you into a bloody pulp…” One of the guys started and shrugged a bit. “Make a wish for it will be your last words.” He half commanded while raising his sword towards Hyrule.
The half-fairy gulped as the tip of the blade was way too close to his throat for his liking. Yet, suddenly he noticed something very comforting. “OH!” He half exclaimed before trying to hide his grin. “In that case my wish is…” He started and let his grin come into sight. “I wish you get an arrow through your head.”
The main bad guy of the group jerked a bit at the words. “What?” He half queried and glanced at his teammates. Each of the guys were either surprised or then just amused of such claim while shrugging a bit. Suddenly an arrow flew through the air and struck right into the back of the guy’s head.
Hyrule grinned as the man fell dead on the floor and the guy’s group gasped in shock while recoiling backwards. “Oh look it! My wish came true!” The half-fairy exclaimed happily with a grin before picking up the sword his enemy had dropped. “Any more wishes you want me to throw in?” He inquired with a smirk while noticing the shock and fear in the group around him. “Such as…” He started and grinned wider as the men backed away from him by few steps. “I wish for my teammates to enter this room before any of you can say even one word.”
“W-wha—“ One of the men started just before the room’s only door was slammed roughly open and the Chain of Heroes dashed right in with quite enraged looks on their faces. The bad guys shrieked and backed away from Hyrule in near fright.
“Guess I’m good with making last wishes, eh?” The half-fairy commented while calming down as the Links surrounded him protectively.
“You all right, Rulie?” Legend queried while swiftly checking his successor through.
“I’m fine, Ledge.” Hyrule replied calmly with a small smile. “You guys came fast and I’m seriously grateful of that.”
“Luckily this place wasn’t far from where we were knocked out.” Twilight commented while eyeing the men before them. They had straight off surrendered and dropped their weapons. They had had the numbers on their side but Hyrule’s surprisingly accurate wishes had freaked them out way too roughly to think about fighting against this group.
“Wild got your gear.” Four told calmly while glancing up to the window where the Champion still stood guard. “This place only got two rooms. The main room and this.”
“I’m surprised they didn’t hear you crash in.” Hyrule frowned a bit while half dropping, half throwing the sword out of his hold.
“The front door was open.” Sky shrugged with a slight grin.
Hyrule chuckled and nodded. “Guess they thought this was safe place for them.” He mused before grinning. “They targeted wrong people.”
“It’s always the wrong people when we’re around.” Wind grinned while finishing of tying one of the bad guys in the room. He glanced around to see the group having been checked for weapons, tied and gagged. He bit felt like wanting to check the knots but he trusted his brothers to have made them just right.
With the group caught and unable to escape or cause any of harm again, Wild finally jumped down from the window. He used the Paraglider a bit to ease out his landing. “Thank you for the archery skills, Wild.” Hyrule half whispered as he hugged the scarred over hundred years old youngster.
“Anytime, Rules, anytime.” Wild replied happily while returning the hold. After that he pulled out his Slate and brought Hyrule’s stuff out.
“Let’s bring this place down. I don’t have a good feeling in here.” Time half commanded once the half-fairy had his things where they belonged. The others nodded in agreement before half dragging, half forcing their captives out of the place. Once everyone was safely outside, several of the Heroes brought out all kinds of bombs. The Chain’s leader brought out Nayru’s Love to protect them from the debris as he simply nodded in command and the bombs were sent off.
Luckily the abandoned place came down easily and the magic suppressers were shut down with it. The nine Heroes of Hyrule relaxed a bit when the area was finally cleared off from things that could be used against others. After that they started to force their captives out of the area and back to the town so that the guards and Knights could correctly arrest and imprison the group of thugs.
Once the bad guys were out of their hold, the Chain returned to the Inn to wash up and calm down. Luckily Legend had already on their way to here noticed the worried glances Hyrule had been giving Time and hence told how things had gone and, most of all, that their beloved oldest brother was perfectly fine and just needed to wash the blood away. Wild overtook the kitchen for a moment to do some comfort foods before they all would just pile on each other for the night. After all, the Chain was very much needing that as they wanted to be certain of Hyrule being there with them safe and sound.
For once the damage taken had been minor and easy to fix. And each of them was very grateful of that notion as they calmed down while holding on to their brother whom had been kidnapped for a short moment. Yet, for now, everything was just as it should be: Safe and sound with everyone right there by each other alive and well.

Rules / Guidelines into the prompts
This is my side blog. My main blog can be found from here: @theoneeyedgoldenwolf
This blog is for list of prompts I came up with and which are free for everyone to use. I will not upload my own stories to here as I use this to reblog the creations that have been made by being inspired by the prompts. My stories are in my main blog where I might reblog some of the stories inspired by the prompts.
Both of this blog's pictures are from Linked Universe (@linkeduniverse ). - The header is from Dawn pt 7, the very last picture on that part. - The profile picture is from Central Room pt 2, third page, second last picture.
FAQ of sorts: - The prompts are mainly for Legend of Zelda (LoZ) and AUs created from them such as Linked Universe, health care AU or my own Ranch Family AU. YET, obviously, ALL fandoms are allowed along with Original Works. Just enjoy creating! =D Yet, unless asked through the "Recs or questions?" aka the ask box, I will not reblog things that are not LoZ related. - ALL pronounces are welcomed! I might use mainly the word "he" or "she" in the prompts but it sure as hell does NOT mean those couldn't be changed. Use whatever pronouncing you see right! I have tried to put this into the (insert pronounce here) -way but I might have missed some of such turns. Sorry. - No deadlines or specific order! Just enjoy creating! You can use the prompts as you wish. There will be 53 main prompts and 6 extras. One for each week with the extras being more specific for LoZ. I know there's only 52 weeks for year 2025 but I want the full year to be in there and hence the extra week. - ALL mediums are allowed! Hoping for no AI but not denying it either. Write, draw, do music, make video, whatever you wish to do, you're free to do them. =) - ALL genres are allowed! I know most of them are going to be whump styled with few prompts being more of fluff. Yet, you can do whatever you wish for the prompts. You can even try giving fluff for whumpier prompts or whump for the fluffier prompts. It's all free for creating. - No limits! You can use same prompts as many times as you wish!
Tagging: - If you wish to be found, please do use the next line: Inspired by the prompts from The_Golden_Wolf aka @theoneeyedgoldenwolf. I'll more certainly will find your work by that line. =) - When you put the tags into your work as you upload your awesome creation, please, do use the next ones: 2025 prompts by The_Golden_Wolf (if it doesn't allow underscore, then use my main page's name/link) prompt # (place number here without the brackets) give the trigger warnings (tw) correctly - Some of the prompts are long so there's no need to write them into the tags. Just the words "prompt # (number)" is good enough. =)
Just send an ask if you want more info or these guidelines weren't clear enough. ^.^
Just because the prompts are for specific year doesn't meant they couldn't be used for years to come. =) It just means that I came up with them before the end of the earlier year and am wanting to separate them for my own knowledge. XD
The prompts below and the year will obviously change if I come up with a new list at the end of the given year. =)
