Freedom and predestination is one of the most frequently asked questions among my students – partly because of modern man's great concern for freedom, but also, I think, for the largely unconscious reason that we intuitively know both these things must be true because they are the warp and woof of every good story. If a story has no plot, no destiny – if its events are haphazard and arbitrary – it is not a great story.
Every good story has a sense of destiny, of fittingness as if it were written by God. But every story also leaves its characters free. Lesser writers may jimmy and force their characters into molds, but the greater the writer the more clearly the reader sees that his characters are real people and not just mental concepts. The more nearly the characters have a life of their own and seem to leap off the page into real life, the greater a writer we have. God, of course, is the greatest writer of all. Since human life is his story, it must have both destiny and freedom.

COMFORTING REMINDERS ୨୧
creation is finished. your desires are yours RIGHT NOW. no one’s taking them away from you.
time does NOT exist. it is a man-made concept, it’s not based. you are always living in the NOW, what happened in the “past” and what is going to happen in the “future” doesn’t matter.
you’re doing everything correctly. no ‘if, but, how’ allowed to question. you are on the right track. keep it going.
once you assumed your desires as facts, you created your new reality and started living in it that very moment.
your mind could NEVER betray you. allow yourself to feel your emotions and live them out. rant about whatever it is that’s concerning you. as long as you BELIEVE in yourself, you have your desires locked in.
the 3d is NOT the enemy. it’s a mirror. and it always reflects imagination (=what you have faith in). it can’t fool you or disobey to you.
you choose for yourself. and you chose to live the life that you always deserved to live. if you have it in imagination, it’s a fact.
if you’re struggling in the 3d right now, just know that you are not alone. and you are heard and loved. if you’re reading this, i just want to let you know that you’re an amazing human being and that you are strong. i love you ♡
࿐ I forgot who the inspo for this was, please send me an ask if you know who the original creator was!

Yes I am on a break still; but I opened my journal today to write about where I am on my development and,
Last entry 27/04/2023 reads:
- Journal of Paul Brunton -
For us--human beings--the void is not so much a factual thing as a state of contemplation. Its deepest level is where the contemplator himself is so completely immersed, so utterly absorbed, as to vanish entirely--and the whole world with him.
Selfhood has gone — where and into what? These things that were here, this world to which they belonged, suspended in space, unknown in time--were they hallucinations of consciousness, and is this void a non-experience too?
When experiencing the deepest possible state, all mental states are suspended, all mental activities ended. This includes the act of identifying oneself with the ego. There is then nothing more to prevent the coming of enlightement.
The dream world is really a projection of the dreamer's mind. He is the subject and the object, but when he awakens – the world vanishes. Where has it gone? It could only have gone back into his mind!, for it is there that it originally arose. In the first stage of this void the external world is deliberately retracted into an object of thought in Onself's mind.
What we call here void is a total complete detachment and emptiness of spirit. It is a casting out of all impressions of the mind, and elimination of every remembered or imagined experience from it, a turning-away from every idea even physically referable to the five senses and the ego; finally, even a loss of personal identity.
Disengage Consciousness from the senses and return to pure consciousness itself.
End of entry.
I thought I should share so that you understand better what our practice is getting to 🌟

Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.
Carl Jung, “Memories, Dreams, Reflections”
I am constantly trying to communicate something incommunicable, to explain something inexplicable, to tell about something I only feel in my bones and which can only be experienced in those bones.
Franz Kafka, “Letters to Milena”

Shadow Work Entry #1: Apoco-Wedding Daydream
An experiment in tapping on parts of my psyche that make me uncomfortable.
I had a recurring daydream in high school about an apocalyptic event so significant that school would have to be dismissed early and ideally indefinitely suspended. In the chaos and confusion of everyone trying to figure out what was going on I would somehow muster the courage to ask whoever I had a crush on at the time to run away and start a new life with me. We would be married like Tony & Maria in West Side Story— no officiant, no guests, no preparation, only the misguided youthful erotic of now-or-never suddenly (conveniently) ordained by the end of times.

I was always keenly aware that my fantasies about having my own family were my psychic dumping grounds for how much I resented my parents. I hated that my dreams were not-so-subtly revenge schemes. It wasn't nice, it wasn't considerate. My imaginary happy family was an offense to my real life unhappy one, and therefore I ought to be punished for entertaining thoughts about it. So I kept them to myself.
When I reflect on my high school apoco-wedding daydream, I see a girl with a deep abandonment wound who did not need to learn how to give people space. I think about the final scene of Don't Look Up, when the asteroid has made contact with the earth and Dr. Mindy and Kate Dibiasky gather around the dinner table for a final meal. I worry that so much of the apathy about climate change or the threat of nuclear war stems from a similar impulse as my daydream-- that only crisis has the power to challenge the powerful ways we have been disconnected from our own desires for love, self expression, and one another. What are social customs, petty interpersonal debts, and the tyrannical currency of trying to be "chill" in the face of certain death?
Without trying too hard to tie things up with up a reductionist self-psychoanalysis, I do believe there is a lesson in my daydream (and my apathy towards it) about how desire can and will still sneak into the bleakest outlook on the world. I think desire is a critical ingredient for persistence and hope. And I am once again reminded that what lives in our personal shadows is not necessarily bad, disgusting, or amoral. Often it is our deeply human parts, fighting to be seen in a disconnected world.
