It's not selfish or frivolous to spend time, money, etc. on such things. It's often necessary for your health and survival in a society that is continually trying to erase you.

Take care of yourself, and you may even help other nonbinary people in the process.

Being nonbinary is a wonderful expression human variety. We're a strange, wild, and beautiful community of individuals, and our love for each other is well placed.

Our lives unfold regardless of argument.

The strength that you've had to cultivate in yourself to survive as a nonbinary person is invaluable.

It's a strength that reaches beyond you because queer/lgbtq people lean on, heal, and protect each other.

Your pain and your power is not wasted. We share strength.

The point is to have choices that work for you.

I believe that the nonbinary label is meant to work for you, not the other way around. Of course, others may have the opposite stance.

If someone says that you shouldn't use the word "nonbinary" in the way that you do for yourself, you don't have to agree with them. Allow space for differences, while also taking care of yourself.

The process of transitioning can be difficult and imperfect. It's often painful, complicated, and far from a linear process. For nonbinary people it's even harder to find anything resembling an end point.

It's much the same as any kind of personal growth. There's pain and unexpected turns in the journey, but it's an experience that ultimately adds to your character.
