One thing I think of quite often is the fact that Gojo isn’t exactly the kind of person one would describe as “docile” or “tame” I suppose because even as a teenager or during the hidden inventory arc, he wasn’t supposed to exactly fulfill all of Riko’s wishes and take her to the beach and the aquarium like his (and Geto’s) job was to literally transport her to where Tengen was kept at/staying at yet he just wanted this little child to have just a little bit more fun before shouldering such a huge responsibility.
And he did all of this to his own detriment because he quite literally gave up on sleep to protect Riko which basically led him to being exhausted and having his guard down which in turn allowed Toji to injure him this badly in the first place because had he been more vigilant, he wouldn’t have been so easily bested (however briefly it may have been for).
So what I am trying to say is that he went out his way (and the rules which I assume were given to them for completing the mission) to just do something so simple as to provide some enjoyment to a little girl and as we all know that, yes, the hidden inventory arc changed the trajectory of his life (and several other lives loll basically the fate of the jujutsu world) all I think is that something must’ve changed drastically for him to actually become so obedient to the higher ups because he might’ve shit talked them all he liked but he still abided by their rules (although he did skirt around them like in Yuuji’s case where he didn’t execute Yuuji as per their order. Man, I deeply, deeply despise the higher ups) even when he’s the one who’s the “strongest” in the jjk world.
So it just makes me wonder if he ever thought that all of it was his fault (hold up now, before you come at me but everyone and their mom’s know that obviously Gojo blames himself but I’d like to elaborate) because had he not acted “insolently” and just done his job properly of transporting Riko as he was expected to and maybe if he hadn’t taken that detour and stayed that extra day then maybe all the events that followed wouldn’t have occurred.
And ever since then he just has this belief that if only he acts according to the wishes and rules of the higher ups then no further harm will befall the jujutsu world and so he toils and labours under people who he loathes and whose ideals disgust him and whose rules stifle him just to provide a better chance to the ones that come after him or the “youth” as he likes to say it. God, Gojo, my precious beloved, he cares so much. I can never understand how people can ever (even for the blink of an eye) reduce him into some uncaring, unfeeling, emotionless being. That’s doing him and all that he stood for such a disservice.
(Maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hill but this thing has truly haunted me since the beginning because oh Gojo, why would you ever listen to them and work for them if that’s how you’re treated. What causes you to work under them when you’re considered as some deity in the jujutsu world, people either call out your name in awe or fear so why must you answer to them when you have a whole universe - literally - of power at your beck and call? What compels you to do so ?)

on the other hand i like when you KNOW you're going to get obsessed with certain media and then you're right. when I was living with @gallusrostromegalus i said i wanted to play baldur's gate 3 but I didn't have the console and gallus and their husband were like "use the PS5" and I was like "I appreciate that but I'm afraid this game is going to Do Something to me and I don't want to monopolize your PS5" and they were like "it's really okay don't worry" and I was like "if you're sure......" and then they didn't see me or the PS5 for 5 months

She has so much patience but also desire to meet him where he's at (she brings a kid thing about trains for example) and what strikes me is that for her it's not in the least romantic (so far) - teaching him is the first moment of joy she's had in years, since her relationship fell apart and her life fell apart and the suicide attempt etc and what I think she enjoys is getting to help somebody but also because she FINALLY has a pupil who actually wants to learn.
His face when he gives her his chicken scratch and is all "it's hopeless right everyone says" and his joking facade covers up so much insecurity.
But instead she's all "nah, we good" and does a different method and continues and I love that so much. She's literally the first person who has not given up on him (and he's not even some nightmare person; clearly all he has is some sort of a learning disability since while he's not a brain trust, he's of average intelligence in everything else) and ouch.
And he says he views everything in life as a joke but it's such a defense mechanism for him.
I honestly don't care if they get together romantically at the end (tho I am here for it with bells on if they do), I just want them both to be happy and away from their awful lives...
