Tonight House Republicans voted 217 to 215 for a budget that'll take $1 TRILLION dollars from Medicaid, attack food benefits for kids, hurt seniors and vets.
but I don't want to talk about that, I want to talk about these two Democratic members of Congress you've never ever heard of.
Democrats, Congressman Kevin Mullin of California and Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen of Colorado.
Congressman Mullin had knee surgery that didn't go well, two surgeries, a life threatening blood clot and a week long stay in the hospital, and the moment he was discharged from the hospital he got on a five hour flight to DC to vote against the Republicans evil budget, using a walker to get to the floor of the House
Congresswoman Pettersen gave birth to her son Sam, in the picture, exactly one month ago on January 25th. They flew from Colorado to DC after Republicans refused to allow her to vote by proxy after having a baby. Congresswoman Pettersen took Sam onto the floor of the House to vote to protect the Health care of 400,000 Colorado kids.
why talk about this? because so much of the conversion is about telling people there's no one good, no one worthy, no one fighting. I promise you there are people undergoing personal hardship to do the right thing.

Countries around the world should slap targeted tariffs on Teslas, block X in their country, and cancel their SpaceX and Starlink contracts immediately.
Hit President Musk where it hurts.

This week the pride flag made me feel hopeful, and I want to share the experience so it can maybe help someone else too.
Since the US started going to hell this year I have been deeply afraid. Especially for the people I love who are disadvantaged, gay, or minority, just anyone who isn't "status quo" so to speak.
I have spent so much time worrying for them, for the next generation, for everyone really. It's been very depressing. This week I was surprised twice on the same day. As i was sitting in the lobby waiting for an appointment I was just staring out the window on a miserable day and the bright colorful pride flag caught my eye hanging from the top of business outside. It was the one with the >>> bands on it. It was all beaten up, dirty, looked like it has seen it all. I had spent that morning doom scrolling all the recent awful news but staring at that flag I don't really understand why, I just started to feel something. A really big truck went by and it got all tangled and wrapped up in itself because of the tears and it stopped blowing with the wind. I had a negative thought of "I guess that's just how it goes now isn't it?". I was in such a negative headspace. For a minute or so even in the blustery weather it didn't unfurl. It just made me feel more depressed. Then a funny thing happened, another truck went by on the side of the street closer to the flag and after it passed, I saw it had unfurled again. It was blowing happily like it never got stuck in the first place. Even as beaten up as it was, it just kept going. It made me smile. Like it was a sign from the universe saying it'll be ok, even if people feel beaten down and rolled in the mud right now. They'll unfurl later, ready to billow again. Later after my appointment, I also happened to see a big poster discussing trans issues and celebrating the trans day of visibility. Maybe a more minor thing, but I am from a deep red state. I would never have expected to see either thing here, but in one day I saw both. Even in the darkest places, sometimes you can still find a tiny speck of light to give you hope to get through. I hope this gave someone a tiny glimmer of hope in a weary world.

The working class does not need billionaires.
