Love Letters Zine

Musicians were asked to write love letters to the people who have really inspired, influenced and supported them. The aim of the zine is to centre the people of marginalised genders who have had an impact on our lives and our art. 

My personal reason for wanting to make the zine is for it to be an antidote to Girl Hate, and to provide a chance for us to build each other up in a society that can often pit us against one other.

This zine is raising money for Girls Rock London, which is a charity that provides music programmes for young and adult women, trans and non-binary people. Girls Rock London do important work in breaking down the barriers that could prevent people of marginalised genders from taking part in music, allowing them to increase their skills, knowledge and experience in an inclusive environment, and to become part of a supportive community. 

Featuring contributions from members of Big Joanie, Petrol Girls, Svalbard, Drones, pink suits, In Evil Hour, Woolf, Nekra, Werecats, Brazen Hussy, cover art by ETFC and inside illustrations by Boe Studios.

Till The Fest

Till the Fest is happening in New Cross and Deptford from the 8th to the 10th October. The line up is absolutely stacked with awesome bands, here are just a few of the ones that I am particularly excited about seeing...  

X-Ray Vez - Friday at 7pm (Matchstick Piehouse) The lovely Vez from Wonk Unit will be treating us to some of her original songs.

Other Half - Sunday at 6.20pm (Amersham Arms)  Angular and abrasive post-hardcore.

Kermes - Sunday at 10.10pm (Matchstick Piehouse)  The perfect blend of dream pop and punk aggression.

Lounar - Saturday at 12am (New Cross Inn)  Lounar will be bringing the Palestinian alt rap afterparty vibes.

Forrest Flowers - Friday at 8pm (Matchstick Piehouse)  Awesome weird and queer post punk.

Nervus - Sunday at 6.40pm (New Cross Inn)  Indie punk sing-and-dance-along anthems!

Snake Eyes - Saturday at 4.40pm (New Cross Inn)  Excellent grunge tinged grit pop.

Deijuvhs - Friday at 9pm (Matchstick Piehouse)  Mixing electronic elements, rap and emo with big punk energy.

In between bands I will be picking up some cool merch from the label market and eating pepperfoni pizza at Radio Delicious. I can’t wait!!

Hate Letters - a zine

Have you ever written a letter an abuser, but couldn’t actually send it? Now you can! Hate Letters is a collection of justified hate, anger and rage. All entries deal with abuse. Some are lighthearted, some are really heavy.

This zine is 40 pages of text and illustration. Colour cover, B&W inside.

The Dykeness, Good Throb + Loads More - Benefit Show For Good Night Out

Loads of awesome bands playing this benefit show for the Good Night Out Campaign! The Good Night Out Campaign works with venues, pubs, bars and clubs to tackle and prevent the harassment of women and LGBT+ people on nights out. They have developed a training program for staff, and ask them to sign up to and display the Good Night Out pledge in their venues. The campaign is non-profit, volunteer-run and active across the UK and Ireland, coordinated by Hollaback London. There are now more than 75 venues signed up including 15 university unions. The Montague Arms was the first South London signatory to the Good Night Out pledge and received free training as it is a small independent venue.
