Hi! A zoo near where I am has free roaming snakes in a big room you can visit, where a bunch of snakes (carpet pythons mostly) live. Is this ethical/ok for the snakes?

My opinion is that as long as the animals are being taken care of and carefully observed, then interactions with humans can be a source of enrichment for their day-to-day lives. The keepers will have to keep an eye on them to make sure they are not overly stressed, as overly stressed animals get defensive and irritable. But it can definitely be a good thing for the public to be able to interact with snakes, because it reduces fear of them, which in turn reduces human-wildlife conflict. Even though Norway only has three species, only one of which is venomous, and none of which gets particularly large, increasing people's awareness of, and sentiments towards, snakes is important. This kind of outreach is a net positive, in my view.

Dog Park Dissidents are an anarcho-punk queercore five-piece from New Orleans, Louisiana/Long Island, New York. From their website:

The group have so far released one debut album The Pink And Black Album, in 2023. They currently have no upcoming show dates set.

anyways i'm not gonna lie i hate tests surveys that ask your gender. not in a transphobic way. more of like an uhhhh i feel completely separate from the concept of gender entirely

you could say i'm non-binary spec but i also don't like using non-binary or agender to describe myself — i guess because it implies that there is a gender binary or spectrum that i'm specifically separate from. even if i'm not part of it, it existing would be how i'd identify that i'm not part of it to begin with. or at least that's how i'd personally feel if i used those terms to describe myself.

i also don't like "other: (please insert)/custom" responses because similarly, that implies i have a gender that is somehow correlated to the spectrum, even if not part of it

i don't like "prefer not to say" because that implies i have one and just would rather not share

i'm not unlabeled. i realise i technically am, because i don't have a proper word to describe myself, but it's not like it's an active choice of mine to identify as unlabeled. especially because that also implies i'm something, even if it can't be quantified adequately. unless i'm getting it wrong, i could totally be wrong in that

i dunno if any of this makes sense, i haven't quite figured out how to fully put my feelings into thought and verbalise on this yet

i'm not saying these options shouldn't exist, but i am saying i'd like there to be an "n/a" button. because this question is simply not applicable to me. i am completely removed from the concepts of both having a gender, and being genderless. i am not gendervoid, because there is no blank space where gender would otherwise be. i'm not gender neutral, because i don't feel neutrally in terms of gender

Cripplequeer Pride Flag

Cripplequeer: a term for and by physically disabled people who either feel their disability is inherenty queer or them being disabled affects their queerness.

Queer: a politicized umbrella term for people LGBTIQQAA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Agender+) spectrum people.

Crip: Short for cripple and reclaimed by physically disabled folx. A politicized umbrella term for people with physical disabilities/disorders. Much like you can “come out” as queer, you can also “come out” as crip. Even if you have an obvious/visible disability, you may not identify as crip, just like gay or lesbian people may not identify as queer.

QueerCrip: A politicized umbrella term that encompasses queer, gender nonconforming identities, apparent and non apparent disabilities/disorders—physical, psychological, intellectual, developmental, emotional, etc.

WLQM (woman loving queer men) or W4QM (woman for queer men): a woman primarily or exclusively attracted to queer men; someone with a female gender identity whose attraction to men is queer (women being queer for men/QLM/MLQ); a girl who prefers queer boys (GLQB/G4QB); a form of julietian (duaric fiaspec/mascic female) queerness (QWLM/MLQW).

It can be used regardless of orientation (bennetian/hetero, aspec, mspec/pluralian, etc.).
