kill the rhetoric that americans are so lazy that they won't take farm jobs. americans take labor intensive jobs all the time. the reason no americans will take farm jobs is because agricultural work is exempt from the vast majority of labor laws and labor protections, including the use of child labor. so only immigrants - people who have little to no protection from the law or other options for work - take most of these jobs. we have created a permanent underclass of labor and then say that americans are just lazy for not volunteering to be part of the underclass.

there are actually good discussions to be had about how alienated many americans are from food production (hi hello that's what my only popular post is about), but the real solution to this problem is to protect agricultural workers, citizens or not. ban child labor in its entirety. punish corporations and farm owners that abuse and poison their workers. reform the immigration process so that these people aren't barred from legal protection and recourse.

agricultural workers have been exploited since the dawn of civilization, but the US in specific has been doing this since slavery, and it evolved in the 30s when FDR's labor laws excluded them specifically because most agricultural workers at the time were black. now it's mostly latino immigrants.

food doesn't fucking pick or slaughter itself. but citizens aren't going to take these jobs when the entire industry is rife with abuse - both legal and illegal - and horrific wages and working conditions.

I think the reason a lot of leftists struggle with disability justice is that they haven't moved past the concept that discrimination isn't bad because it's objectively "wrong." yes, sexists are objectively wrong when they try to claim women are dumber than men. yes, antisemites are objectively wrong that jewish people are inherently greedy and run the state. yes, racists are wrong when they try to claim that white people are the superior race. and so on.

but then with disabled people, there are a lot of objective truths to the discrimination we face. people with IDs/LDs do fall behind and struggle with certain concepts. physically disabled people are often weaker and less capable of performing demanding tasks than able bodied people. many of us with mental illnesses are more reckless and less responsible. a lot of us are dependent on others and do not contribute much "worth".

and guess what? disabled people still deserve a place in the world. disabled people still deserve the supports they need. because they are people, and that should be enough to support them and believe they deserve a place at the table.

if your only rebuttal against discrimination is its objective inaccuracies, you are meeting bigots where they are at. you are validating the very concept that if and when people are truly incapable of being equal to the majority, that means they are worth less. this causes some leftists to then try to deny the objective realities of disabled people and/or become ableist themselves.

your rallying behind marginalized groups should start and end with the fact that people are completely worthy of life and equity, because they are fellow human beings and that should, frankly, be enough.

i’m actually pretty scared to release my oc story to the wild (i wanna release comics and possibly animated episodes if possible) BUT IM REALLY WORRIED THE FIRST PART IS GOING TO BE TOO PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE I MADE THE ANTAGONIST THE ABSOLUTE MOST HORRIBLE PERSON EVER, LIKE THERE IS NOT A THING HE DID RIGHT IN HIS LIFE. Also most of my characters are masc, the whole 5 main characters are mostly masc. im constantly worried that my story and ideas are too problematic and i'll get cancelled. i was there was more people who could give me constructive criticism and let me know if im doing something wrong. its so hard for people to get interested in your art though

Okay, granted, it’s been a while since I’ve seen “all trans readers like one kind of fic, and no trans readers ever like another kind of fic, so it is Transphobia when you write the Wrong Kind.”

…but it hasn’t been that long since I’ve seen someone quietly wonder if they’re a Bad Trans Person for having preferences.

Period/sharkweek dysphoria tips for transmasc folks.

-baggy sweats and sweatshirts. The most chill outfit you have.

-boxers don't fit pads if you don't want to use tampons for obvious reasons use a pair of fem underwear and put your boxers over them.

-make sure you are warm enough, depression episodes only get worse if you are cold.

-caffeine only when nessasary. It makes period pain worse but it makes it easier to get up when depressed. You'll still be sad but you'll have a little more energy.

-you are fucking manly as hell. How many other guys can bleed for days straight using things originally used for gunshot wounds to soak up the blood. None cus they would die. You are the manliest fucking own it.

-if pads and tampons make you dysphoric invest in period boxers.

-As always treat yourself during and after. This is already a strenuous ordeal for your body. You have an extra layer of hardness, it's strenuous for your mind. Give yourself some grace.

There's a genuine terror for a certain percentage of us with Tourettes that we may be actually KILLED OR ASSAULTED for ticcing in the wrong time and in the wrong place to the wrong person.

People think we're drunk or on drugs or we mean what we say and somehow that gives them the right to abuse us.

What I say as a tic is ALWAYS out of my control, but your reaction is 1000% in YOUR control.

Do better for those of us with neurological illnesses.
