Some fact checks about plurality

The "Bible of psychiatry" is the DSM. In 1994, the DSM changed the name of Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) to Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). This was in response to a moral panic where critics claimed that the condition was fake.

The original and current diagnostic criteria do not require trauma for DID (or MPD) (DSM-III, p. 259; DSM-III-R, p. 272; DSM-5-TR, p. 331).

The international counterpart of the DSM is the ICD-11. Its essential features for DID do not require trauma, either.

Both books say that not all cases of multiple personalities are a disorder or a severe impairment. Psychiatry recognizes that medicalizing them is not always appropriate.

Plurality (or multiplicity) is a community umbrella term for many ways of being more than one person in a body. Psychiatrists who know enough about DID are aware of it. Plurality includes but is not the same as DID.

The community has always included plurals who formed for reasons other than trauma. Dividing the community by excluding non-traumagenic plurals and calling them fake is new. That only started in August 2014 on Tumblr, unheard of elsewhere.

When that started, a trauma-caused DID system created the word "endogenic." This means plurals who formed naturally rather than from trauma. The Lunastus Collective coined it in solidarity with them.

(Similarly, the coiner of another umbrella term, "alterhuman," is a member of a traumagenic OSDD system who supports endogenic plurals. The purpose of that word is for plural systems to unite with other sorts who differ from usual definitions of human individual, valuing what we do and do not have in common, instead of in-fighting about who is more legitimate.)

Community historian LB Lee gives several good reasons why-- as trauma-surviving plurals-- they choose not to call themselves "traumagenic" or divide the community by origins. If I may briefly paraphrase a couple of these: If you see suffering as your whole foundation of who you are, then you have a more difficult time envisioning a better situation. If you want others to respect you, a losing strategy is to put down people who are seen as similar to you.

Neither psychiatry nor the greater community of plurals see trauma history as an important distinction in determining whether someone is plural.

how did we lose the plot so hard with feminism and activism like seriously… are we forgetting that being kind and loving to the men and boys in your life, teaching them as kids if you are a parent to be kind respectful humans, and showing them how to be emotionally vulnerable and making a society in which it is safe to do so was like…. A huge part of feminism, dismantling patriarchal values, and creating a generation of loving men who are held accountable for their actions?

Why is it “kill all men yes even the trans ones and if you say otherwise you’re an MRA” and not “let’s maybe create a world that encourages good men.” Did we forget that feminism was supposed to be good for everyone and that the patriarchy harms men and boys as well?

Like maybe we should care about male loneliness and the male suicide rate BECAUSE MAYBE WED HAVE LESS SOCIETAL PROBLEMS if 100% of the population wasn’t traumatized by gendered expectations and not being taught decent communication skills/how to be emotionally vulnerable. And definitely we would if fucking redpill echo chambers weren’t the places most willing to accept and nurture (groom into hateful ideology) young men.

The problem has never been men, cis or trans, being uniquely capable of evil the problem has always been the fact that cishet patriarchal culture encourages and rewards shitty behavior that makes everyone involved bitter and miserable and calls it masculinity.

Smolstance (or Bittystance if you prefer): A blankstance term that means someone is anti radqueer and supports a few specific things, but feels unable to understand/form an opinion on/comment on all other discourses due to being a syskid, chronosian, or otherwise disconnected from age or maturity levels.

It is against:

sysmedicalism and ableism

xenophobia, colorism and racism

radqueers, MUDs, fults, and xenosatanism

Faunastance: A blankstance term that means someone is anti radqueer and supports a few specific things, but feels unable to understand/form an opinion on/comment on all other discourses due to being nonhuman. It is the nonhuman equivalent to smolstance and supports/doesn't support everything listed above, and people using this term might feel like it's impossible or inaccessible for them to understand enough of things not listed to have a stance. Jectionstance: A blankstance term that means someone is anti radqueer and supports a few specific things, but feels unable to understand/form an opinion on/comment on all other discourses due to being an introject and feeling disconnected from this world. It is the introject equivalent to smolstance and supports/doesn't support everything listed above, and people using this term might feel like it's impossible or inaccessible for them to understand enough of things not listed to have a stance. An emoji code if you would like one is 🎨🌈🤷!

Jackolanternstance (or Jackstance if you prefer): A blankstance for people who have the time/energy to explain things. It focuses on how from an uninformed perspective, some kinks, paraphilias and identities can seem "scary;" but focuses on the fact that people who identify with those are people, too, and even if you don't understand something they deserve respect.

This is a term for people who have the patience and time to argue against paramisia and misinformation about paraphiles, who want to express the actual truth (not what radqueers try to claim is the truth) about having a paraphila. The Jack o lantern themeing was chosen because of its association with Halloween. It's kind of a stretch, but it's supposed to reference how people are scared on Halloween but it's all fake, relating that to how uninformed outsiders think paraphiles are scary or dangerous.

People with this stance:

always do a search off of Tumblr/whatever social media website to find more information about something before deciding their feelings on it

support all paraphiles as people and will not judge someone just because they have a paraphilia, not even "the big three"

believe in the idea that identities and experiences that you don't personally have might seem "scary," but you still have to respect the people with those experiences

feel capable of arguing against misinformation about paraphilias

support MOGAI, LIOM, and Unoraid

This stance is against:

sysmedicalism, fakeclaiming, disorder faking on purpose, and ableism

xenophobia, colorism and racism

radqueers, MUDs, fults, xenosatanism and winterqueer

assault and grooming

acting on paras that inherently harm the object of attraction nonconsensually

shipping or headcanons for real life people

calling people "cringe" seriously

Against the demonization of masculinity

A term and flag.

What this is for:

Displaying that you don't think it's right to demonize masculinity, that you disagree with Tumblr's constant desire to belittle men just for being men, especially queer men.

Supporting any other queer person's right to exist as themselves. This includes (but isn't limited to) transgender and other queer men, nonbinary people, intersex people, transgender and other queer women, drag performers, especially those who are people of color.

Unity and setting aside differences to fight against fascism, racism, and transphobia.

Doing reading. If you use this term/flag, I really want you to, on your own, without being asked, read things. Books, articles, zines, etc. Not just on queer masculinity, but on queerness in general, racism, ableism, xenophobia, and counter culture.

Making EVERYONE assigned male at birth feel safe in queer communities.

Making EVERYONE who is masculine, whether they want to be masculine or are transitioning away from it, feel safe in queer communities.

Dismantling gender essentialism and not assuming everyone of the same assigned sex has the same experiences.

Playing oppression olympics/trying to claim XYZ queer ID is ~more oppressed~. This term is not for people who think this is helpful to do.

Downplaying women's experiences under the patriarchy. This term is not for people who think women complain too much about misogyny or something like that. That's not the point.

Making anyone feel like they can't critique men and sexism. Talking about sexism and the privilege men have over others is good, making people feel evil for even appearing masculine is not.

Suicide baiting.

Using the word "misandry" at all.

The flag itself is based heavily off the trans flag, and I think I don't like that as much as I originally did so I may redesign it but RIGHT NOW here's the color symbolism: Blue faded over a transgender color scheme to emphasize that masculinity is all around us and can't be something people are expected to just put away, the pink hand for feminine men of all kinds, and the blue hand for masculine women of all kinds.

When I say demonizing masculinity I want to make it very clear that I mean a specific thing the internet does, and not just generally critiquing men. Askeantirad: a term under the Akse— system revolving around accepting yourself and being anti radqueer, accepting yourself being anti radqueer, accepting the very idea/possibility of you being anti radqueer, — this, optionally, also may have to do accepting anti radqueer, in other people's lives, accepting other people who are anti radqueer, accepting that others may be anti radqueer, and the way anti radqueerness may be present in other scenarios and lives.

Hazard Consent

Hazard consent, or hazard-consent, is a contact/consent stance based on harm reduction, explicit and informed consent, and understanding the repercussions of one's actions. It is inherently against contact for any paraphilia, kink or fetish that involves a lack of, or otherwise dubious, content- *as well as situations where even if one believes a group or individual can consent, the negative impact it would have on either party outweigh what pleasure they could get out of it.

What is hazard consent FOR?

Q. Why does this exist?

A. Historically, contact stances were something used in the MAP community to express one's personal stance on contact with minors, but now that it is used to indicate one's stance on multiple/all paraphilias, it has become unclear what falls under being "pro/neutral/complex/anti-contact". Meanwhile stances like "pro-consent" or "anti-harm" have a similar vagueness to them, as what counts as "consent" or "harm" can be subjective and up to the user. This is to serve a clear and explicit stance of things that often seems to be shared between these beliefs.

Q. *What does this mean?

A. This stance believes that, even if an individual thinks groups like children or animals can consent, the negative impact sexual contact with them has on these groups psychologically outweighs the pleasure gained. This also means that if an individual is distressed by their attraction, they shouldn't engage with it if/until they can do so without harming themselves mentally.

Q. What is dubious consent in this context?

A. Any coerced, unenthusiastic, uninformed or otherwise unclear consent.

Q. Why the name "hazard consent"?

A. "Hazard" is supposed to reference the understanding of the risks, potential danger, and, well, hazards associated with non/dubious consent, as well as those related to informed consent. It also is intended to invoke a sense of danger. It is intended to promote a thorough understanding of the risks and benefits associated with sex, consent and paraphilias, kinks and fetishes.

Q. Who can use hazard consent?

A. Anyone. Even if someone disagrees with me and my beliefs, or if I disagree with them. This is a term for anyone and everyone who shares this specific belief, and anyone can be any stance on it.

This is my first time coining a gender. It feels harder than making a blankstance somehow.
