Last one about the buttons for a little while...
So, the latest creation I used my buttons on is an inkle woven choker necklace.
I had a thing for inkle woven bands and wool threads about a year ago and as a result I created a lot of things with inkle woven bands.
This choker just being latest of them, it was also for sale at our schools pop up last year but it was too pricey and now it just sits in a box waiting for the right customer.

it has a lining of linen since I myself find 100% wool to be very itchy and tickling. It has raccoon dog bones knotted and braided in for extra show and to get that shamanistic vibe for it.
And of course one fish skin button!

Used some of the buttons I made for these decorative pillows to be sold at schools christmas pop up.
Wasn’t suprised that they didn’t sell even being as pretty as they are since their pricetag skyrocketed with the buttons and inklewoven bands on them.
Ended up giving them as presents and luckily the receivers knew how to appreciate the materials and techniques used.

Still under the charm of my buttons.
I actually sold some of the buttons I made. People loved the fish skin buttons but ended up buying raccoon dog ones. :) Too bad I am out of raccoon dog skin and can’t make more of them.
Hopefully one day I have my own button machine and a place where to tan more raccoong dog skins...

Fish skin buttons. As I started dressmaker studies, I have learned a million new ways to use my traditionally tanned leathers. And with every new way comes a million new ideas.... I wonder where these will end up?😊 . Repost from my personal IG @pupupahanen #buttons #fishskin #traditionallytanned #leather https://www.instagram.com/p/BtTRmLJFy-T/?igshid=1n2ax1a3qfxnu

Raccoon dog and pike-perch skins tanned with traditional methods. Brown ones are vegetable tanned and light ones tanned with fat.

Delicious little buttons!
Another thing I learned at school last year was making buttons with pressing machine and I totally fell in love with self made buttons.

Here is a little button made from fish skin. (Pike-perch skin to be exact)
It’s a fish skin I tanned myself using traditional methods during my ancient technique studies. But I will post more about my ancient tech stuff at a later date! :)
For now enjoy my buttons! :D

Here are ready bags and some close ups of the details they have.
I have been using them a lot during the past year and they have endured it well.
Accidental success on material choice?
Must be because we had literally zero knowledge of suitable materials and we got to choose freely just so we would learn how those choices affect the products lifespan.

Sewing practice with a bag
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just for practice teachers had us make a bag from ready made patterns.
I made two with small differences, blue one has a zipper and pocket inside.
“Dark princess” one doesn’t have zipper and its pockets are on the outside going all the way around it.

So much of the kigurumi project for now...
So the pikachu kigurumi is still missing his face and it’s already august 2019!
I don’t know if and when I have time to actually complete it since there is no time at school and I don’t own a working sewing machine to make it at home. :(
But hopping to another little project next and hopefully I will return with pikachu having a face at some point!

Made the buttons myself and they look good as a whole, but if I would come across those buttons somewhere unrelated I'd say they are horrible 😂 #learning #sewing #pikachukigurumi #kigurumiWIP #kigurumi #onesie #onezie #buttons https://www.instagram.com/p/BuJRBetBpr3/?igshid=145gap5a3h1lh
