This video struck a chord with me because?? like it or not, this is a very real issue, and the video as a whole really stands out and summarizes the attitude that permeates through all of social media these days. The fear I have of past mistakes I’ve made coming back to haunt me affects me daily, and I have so much fear of getting a profile online because I KNOW there are people out there willing to dig through years and years worth of content just to find something that can make me look bad because I’ve seen it happen to big name artists that I admire. 

And it can come from so many sides, too; are there people who deem you problematic? they’ll dig through your tweets from years ago and drag up old shit because they want to “warn” others about your past or present behaviour. Perhaps there are people who are jealous of the attention you get? Time to find something to take you down a peg. Maybe just want to gather info on you to laugh at and ridicule you (ala ED or Kiwifarms)? Time to find your personal profiles and slap your real life information and photos of you all over forums.

These are all VERY real fears. I check my name on Kiwifarms regularly to see if anyone has created a thread about me yet, because some of the content I’ve made has gotten lots notes before and could be deemed as “cringey”. Some of the stuff I’ve drawn also wouldn’t sit well with antis who equate fiction with reality, deeming the content you draw affects your moral code out of the realm of stupid self indulgent fiction.

Whether you love Yandere Simulator or hate it, you can agree that he makes good points here. I know he’s talking about his personal experiences alone, and  of course, I don’t agree with all of Yandevs actions all of the time, and I believe there are improvements he could make as a person and to his game, BUT no one deserves to have their entire life monitored so damn closely to the point where you have to always be on your best behaviour due to the fear of making very human mistakes and never living them down. 

TL;DR: Yandev made a video about how fucking shitty callout/trolling culture is and how he’s experienced it himself, and even if you hate his game and think he’s done stupid shit, you gotta admit he makes valid points. 

Also if you engage in this sorta thing? You’re the worst. Improve your own boring, sad existence before putting people on blast for their’s.
